Mock Up - Courtesy of renewleeds on Flickr

The design phase of creating a website is fairly standard for most web designers however when it comes to presenting the mock up to a client before slicing / coding the design, some problems do arise so I went out and asked the community about how they present a web site design to a client.

sponsored message

Adobe Creative Cloud Discount

After filtering through all the responses and summarising them I am now ready to present to you, 9 of the best ways to present a website design to a client , along with the advantages and disadvantages of each method.

The Problems

As web-savvy individuals, it’s quite easy to grasp and understand the concept that mock-ups are simply static images that depict what a site would look like. However, what many web designers have found is that this concept is incredibly difficult for clients to wrap their head around.

We, as designers and communicators, try to make it clear to clients that what they are looking at is a static and flat image of their potential site design. Still, many questions and comments come from the clients after you present the design, such as the ones Verne Ho of Creating Briefing and many others, have experienced below:

 • Why don’t any of the links work?
 • How do I edit the text on this?
 • How come I can’t highlight text?
 • The website is too small (occurs because the browser has shrunken the image by default)!
 • I don’t like the white space that surrounds the site.
 • Can we center the site?

To some extent, I can understand the confusion… they are looking at something that looks like a website that is inside a browser or picture viewer, however, oddly, it doesn’t act like a website… obviously this fact would raise questions.

To find out what various web designers do to get around these problems I went and asked my friends on Twitter ( Follow Me ) and Facebook ( Add Me ) to see what they do when presenting a web design mock up to a client.

Methods of Presenting Web Design Mockups

Mock Up - Courtesy of _Marcel_

After getting replies from my Twitter / Facebook friends (big thank you) I came to these 9 methods of how to present a web design mock up to a client. In no particular order:

Place the image on a web page and send them a link.

People can probably better identify an image when it appears as they normally see it, such as in a web browser however it does create many more questions as I previously outlined above.

If you choose this method try to personalise it by uploading it to your own server… use the directory /clients/clientname/index.htm. Another tip here was to use the free .tk domain provider so that you can send them a link such as http://clientsdomain.tk which also looks quite professional. Thank you for the .tk tip Herbert .

Send A JPEG or PNG via Email

Sending a mockup by email is probably the simplest way however it is not always the best… Some users have small screen resolutions which means the picture may shrink which means more questions along with the other ones that I outlined above.

Use some kind of web-based application

Using a web-based application to showcase mock-ups reinforces the idea that it’s something on ‘display’ and it is not a live example which may lead to less questions.

Use the website CodedPreview

CodedPreview allows you to create simple HTML preview pages, showing what a template should look like when coded. (Thanks liamuk7 for this one.) Again, try to personalise it as much as you can, tailored to your client.

Create A ‘Client Studio ‘

Rather than using an online based application, you can set up your own ‘studio’ on your own server where the client can log in and view mock ups (jpg’s on a html page) which they approve… You can put revisions on the same page (new jpg’s) and once approved you can add a link to view the functional site in progress.

Here is an example from IDesignStudios . “I email clients with the URL for the client studio, as well as their Client ID, Username and Password. You have to have a username/password to even get into the first screen (w/ disclaimer and dropdown of client ID’s). A client can only continue on to their own client area (as in, all clients can see the first page w/ dropdown, but you can only login to 1 client area after that).” You can view a screenshot of the log in screen and inside the client studio .

Export mock-ups in PDF

Rather than saving in jpeg or png format which is just an image that can be opened in the clients default image viewing software, having it in PDF format means, in most cases, that they must open the website in Adobe Reader. The advantage of this is that there’s less expectations for it to function like a website. The use of layer comps is also useful in PDFs to show variations of a design.

Skip photoshop and design in HTML

There are a few debates on this one and it usually comes down to whatever process best enables your creativity however this one is for you to decide.

Get The Client To Come Into Your Office

Although this is not always possible, it usually is the best way to present a web mock up to a client as it allows you to talk over the whole project together with the client. If you have this opportunity, always take it.

Send Them a JPEG or PNG & Ask Them To Print It

This was just an idea I came up with… if you send them a full scale JPEG mockup of the design and ask them to print it off, then they will not think that the website will function like it normally does which in turn will mean less questions. A disadvantage of this however is that the site will not be to scale.

Original Responses

Twitter Logo - Facebook Logo

Below are some of the original responses from my friends on Twitter and Facebook… once again thank you. Follow Me On Twitter and Add Me On Facebook and while your at it, Join The Just Creative Design Facebook Group .

marioOlckers @justcreative Stealth live install on server to illustrate proof-of-concept and then back to drawing board after input and consultation.

netbramha @justcreative PNG, How about you?

brianyerkes @justcreative Save it as a jpeg, upload it to a directory on your server called /clients/clientname. Make an index.html page. Add jpg image.

brownaddesign @justcreative I just post the design on my web server, in a directory I create for the client, and email them a link to view.

marnieb @justcreative In JPG format. 🙂

metalgod @justcreative I put together a PDF with annotations and send it over to the client. Then I follow up with a call to walk them through it.

trisnadi @justcreative Has the client seen the draft before? I normally do a full walk through before letting them touch it or ask questions.

ClarkleSparkle @justcreative Email.

bradsherrill @justcreative Have the client come into your office and let them view in 1:1 scale preferably jpeg format. If you can’t do that email them.

jessjoyce @justcreative – We send/upload .pngs of the Photoshop/Illustrator docs

spinfly321 @justcreative – Design in photoshop and present as a jpg

biwerw @justcreative – Create a web page with the .jpgs of the concepts on it and send them the link. Hope this helps.

liamuk7 @justcreative – Just as a image or using http://www.codedpreview.com

idesignstudios @justcreative –   I give clients access to their own “client studio” – they can login and view mockups (jpg’s on a html pg) as they approve…I put revisions on the same page (new jpg’s). Once approved I add a link to view the functional site in progress.

marcoslhc @justcreative – I generally deliver some physical sketches (paper and colour pencils) to the second meeting, and digital ones to the 3rd

stevemoseley @justcreative – Depends on 2 things: project size, and pickiness of the client.   If either – photoshop mockup. If neither, first cut of html.

adellecharles @justcreative I usually save for web and insert into and html doc / upload to server just so the client can see

craftisan @justcreative What I do depends on the client… sometimes live web previews or pdf/jpg mockups… mostly jpgs.

randaclay @justcreative JPG file, or sometimes PDF

EliteByDesign @justcreative Usually just a JPG via email or uploaded to my site. Nothing fancy, after all, it’s only a first draft!

pointlessramble @justcreative Stick it in a HTML file with any backgrounds needed/etc.

RyanDownie @justcreative To present mock-ups I put the image in a directory on server /name and then add a backgound image to tile full browser

Herbert via FaceBook: I usually upload the website with a free domain www.yourdomain.tk, it’s easy you redirect the path from your hosting to the free domain.

Steve via Facebook: We have a web.yourcompany.com setup and give the client the URL web.yourcompany.com/client.

Patrick McColley via Facebook: I usually post it on my server or if they let me, theirs.

is it probable that alot of mistaken expectation from the client about design mockups actually starts from the beginning of the sales cycle? if you make it crystal upfront of the type of mock they will get then many of the questions will already be addressed, Or? 😉

i’ve seen great designer’s many of them freelancing that haven’t a clue how to sell or communicate properly!

Thanks for the mention! I love how there’s such a great community of designers/developers on twitter! 🙂

I’ve got the Client Studio setup where I give clients login access to view the mockups (then the site in progress once we get to that point).

When sending the email with login information, I do explain that it’s just a .jpg at this point so links won’t work yet. I also explain that the background will fill the entire screen once we’re working with the actual site, etc.

What becomes difficult is having mockups of a flash animation (I’ll send several screenshots of what I envision for an animation before going through the work of developing it first… approval is key to making sure you don’t do a lot of work for nothing, lol).

Anyway in cases like that I’ll write out a few lines or a paragraph or so explaining each .jpg (I do this directly under each image). There can still be some confusion, though, so sometimes a phone call is best to clear things up.

Anyway, great suggestions to a common issue among designers!

Thanks for your post – the infos are very good!

Azakers, Having creative freedom over projects is always great however if you’re like me and need a hand for the coding side of things (I only know the basics) then use of mock ups is critical.

Powerpoint is an interesting approach, any reason you do not use PDF’s instead?

Regarding Loreum ipsum question I always try to slip in the words dummy text somewhere and tell them before hand… if they seem not so tech savvy.

Styletime, It is strange how communicators can not communicate but very understandable, not everyone is great at public speaking but generally if they know what they are doing then they should be able to talk about it in length, even if the client is forced to ask questions.

Markus, The client studio idea I would love to do if I got more web design jobs but I am not really focusing on that at the moment. Worth a shot though. Emails are working for me at the moment as most of my clients are pretty tech savvy.

Erika, Would you be able to provide some screenshots? What type of website do you use?

Selene, No worries, thanks for providing the screenshots and yeah Twitter is a great tool… I never would have thought it could be so handy.

Thanks for the extended version of your process too.

I was surprised there was no info about this topic on the web at all.

Andrew, Well here were the different methods used by various web designers!

Werbeagentur, You’re welcome.

Great article!

Re: Client Studio Have you heard of or found a plugin for WordPress that would allow you to do this? I did some intensive searching about a year ago (before 2.5) and didn’t find anything. Would love to make use of the existing site infrastructure that I already have. Especially if that could also become the method by which they submit tickets / requests / etc.

I do so much work before jumping into Photoshop that the client has an idea of what they are going to get before they see the design comp. We’ve talked about the primary and secondary audiences, what the site should feel like, and in most cases wireframed the content around those expectations so that we are making decisions based on strategy, not presentation.

At first it might be a hard sell to do a lot of work before seeing a design, but if you do they won’t care what format the design is presented it, they are going to be focused on how users are using the design.

I like the idea of posting the responses and their providers.

Also a very informative post.

Keep up the good work!!

Great post, I am think I’m part “Skip photoshop and design in HTML” and part “Get The Client To Come Into Your Office”. To me it seems that designing in photoshop takes more time than just jumping in and in almost all cases it seems that getting in front of the client is always beneficial.

Again great article !

Some interesting ideas. Luckily, I’ve not had to do much back-n-forth with clients before, so I’ve been able to avoid much formal process.

Generally I have full creative control over the web projects I contract, so I’m free to build live (CSS/HTML/PHP) with-out having to worry about scraping the whole thing because the client changes their mind about something.

On more formal projects I use a combination of PhotoShop & PowerPoint to mock up and annotate a websites several templates & special features – and then present the PowerPoint directly, or on a conference call.

I’ve found flat images or simple, mocked up HTML lead to too many of those silly questions (why don’t these links work, what does this lorem ipsum crap mean)

The good thing about a formal presentation is that you get the chance to explain certain features & design choices proactively, which can help avoid having to invest time in code development or having the client misinterpret the images.

AzAkerss last blog post.. Yahoo Site Explorer Gets a Much Needed Makeover

I just always sent a jpg via email but i think in the future i will try to send pdf files although the “client studio” idea is interesting too. hope it’s not confusing for clients

Markuss last blog post..Nie mehr Outlook

I have a website that I use specifically for client reviews. I upload the design to the domain and give them a link accompanied with a brief yet clear description of what to expect upon clicking. I’m not convinced that this is the best way, though, and am strongly considering setting up a new system… so that “client studio” concept is looking mighty appealing.

Erikas last blog post..Miami Web Design

Hello Jacob,Another tool that I have found interesting and I will be using when it is released is Get Sign Off . This looks like it is going to be a great product to use to help get the clients approval you can see Paul give a demonstration about it here.

Really good stuff! I always struggle with how I should show proofs to the client, glad to see I’m not the only one.

Andrew Houles last blog post.. 2 Incredibly Entertaining Animations

Thanks for the mention! GREAT article, worth the digg front page 🙂 Keep up these great informational articles.

adelles last blog post..Interviewed on Freelance Folder + More News

Great post, this is definitely something so important, which should be so simple, yet is often times a disaster.

I would only have to say that if you have the money, a service like basecamp or an organic solution can also help tremendously.

Matts last blog post..Friday’s Five: Week 9

I mentioned in my tweet (pointlessramble) that I normally use an image within a html file + backgrounds. Although, now I normally skip photoshop all-together, and dive right into the html after initial sketches that the client agrees upon.

Nicks last blog post..IE users: stop!

I think Styletime is correct you have to be up front about what type of mock you provide. In my contract it states clearly that i provide a link to and image mock up. I include annotations on the image to help answer questions.

Ryans last blog post..Why A Good Logo Is Important

Excellent Post, you just made it easy for the rest of us =)

Great post, I definitely think clients need to see the bigger picture when it comes to viewing designs. The codedpreview site is a great tool indeed and is really simple and easy to use. We have a dedicated server for client mockups which is password protected, we then have a template that we use over and over that has our companies branding on the index page, we then have a list menu of the different design iterations so the client can preview all designs from start to finish.

Max Weirs last blog post..Terminator 4 “Salvation: The Future Begins”

I can’t believe only one mention of Basecamp here!

It’s invaluable for getting client feedback as I can create a message and get feedback on it.

Great post, I generally post a jpg into a index file inside a directory online then walk the client though it over the phone, ask them if they have in questions before they take time to to review the design. Thanks!

I typically print them out and mount screenshots on foamboard, clients love it and i ofrten re-visit months after the end of a project and the screenshots are still displayed proudly in the MDs office.

Great idea for putting the post together and some great responses. Good stuff.

liams last blog post..Contest: Win a Copy of the brand new Papercut Theme

I agree with projects managers like basecamp that let the client provide feedback on files and better management for you. Anyway, this is a useful post.

Adelle, Thank you for the digg and praise 🙂

JamieO, No I have not… there was not even an article on the web on this subject of different methods to present mockups to clients. Did you find anything?

Matt, I have yet to try basecamp… what did you mean when you mentioned organic solution?

Brad C, That is a good method Brad however like you said, it is hard to sell a design based on wireframes. It depends on the client I suppose if they can envision it or not and the purpose of the website and how the users are going to use it.

Nick, How detailed are your sketches?

Ryan, What type of annotations do you include? Do these take away from the actual presentation of the mockup?

Matt, If you could get the client into your office every time that would be just swell.

Max, I am yet to use codedpreview however I will give it a try in the short future. Would you have an example / screenshots of your method, it sounds great!

Steven, PureDezigner, Pike9, Mark, Liam, Acms, Navi, Ava, Mokokoma, Doug, Thank you for your feedback and input… much appreciated.

Nice post and a unique idea to include responses in the post itself. I’ll try it out myself.

Navis last blog post..Are you a loser on internet? Find Out!

Good info – In a former life, I did some of these presentions and always fell back on the pdf. It gave clients something to carry around the office and get feedback on. Thanks for the thoughts.

Ava Semerau And God Was Please: Principles for Creating Christian Success

@JamieO – I’ve been looking for a plugin too, but so far haven’t found anything. I do that manually with a form field jump menu, as well as javascript that points to the URL’s. I’d love to automate the whole process, and as you say do a ticket submission type of thing.

On the other hand, though – I like just having the designs (and eventually links to the site development in progress) through the client studio, so that clients can email me directly with approval or changes, etc. I just like keeping a good record of ALL communications, especially when signing off on a design, etc.

One thought is to include a form on each page so clients can respond directly from the page. I haven’t implemented this yet, though…

I think the best would be to present a printed mock-up in person to the client. The only problem is obviously that time / distance will not always be in your favour.

Mokokomas last blog post..Skout’s progress and tips for growing an online offspring

Great suggestions!

At our office we prefer to send 1 pdf with multiple pages to clients. We save 72dpi jpgs from AI or PSD.

Does anyone know how to get Acrobat to display them at 100%? It seems to blow them up and the quality looks crappy.

Carolins last blog post.. “Green Space” named finalist for magazine award

I use the web site review method. Send the client the URL (and password) to access the web page where they can see the work in progress.

Doug C.s last blog post..Your Opinion: New Blog Title?

Very informative and useful post. Thanks for sharing it.

Interesting article – I for one, go for a full page PhotoShop mockup uploaded to our office server in the client’s directory.

When I send my client the link to the mockup, I always include a few lines about what it is, that it’s not clickable, etc. In the past 8 years, I’ve only had 2 clients that have not understood the mockup or what it’s purpose is.

I find it very easy to go back and forth with my clients and Potential clients in this manner. I read this morning on another blog that they feel PHotoshop Mockups are ridiculous and prefer to do everything with drawings on paper – but I have to wonder – When working on the web with clients across the globe, how does that paper drawing bring the client a Realistic Design Approach?

PDFs have been the most stream-lined way for myself in the past. You can get them lightweight, considering, text can be selected, and you can write notes to explain design considerations.

When it comes down to it, you’ll need to inform your client that it is NOT a functional website. This is reliant upon the strong communications skills you should already have with your clients.

Merideth, Thanks for explaining your process to us, it was insightful.

I believe that paper drawings could work with some clients however I don’t think it shows off the the design as much as it does with a digital version. Sure, paper sketches are great for getting an idea of the layout at the start of the process but it doesn’t give the full picture so to speak.

Selene, Do you keep all the feedback from the clients (that I presume they send through email) on the actual client studio site? Or do you just keep it in email format?

The form idea would be handy. CformsII is a good plugin for easy forms however I think your skills are beyond that judging by your website 😉

Carolin, Thanks for your input… to show acrobat files at 100% you have to save them in that format… you change the preferences under file and set the document to open at 100% rather than full screen.

Ricky, Indeed, I agree… “This is reliant upon the strong communications skills you should already have with your clients.”

Hi Jacob, thanks for your reply!

I knew that I can set the initial pdf view to 100% but it still looked like it was blown up to about 130%.

But I found out what my problem is 🙂 I had to change the ‘Page Display’ settings in my Adobe Acrobat 8 Preferences. ‘Resolution’ was set to ‘Custom Resolution: 98 pixels/inch’ and it should be 72 pixels/inch. Also the ‘Zoom’ needs to be 100% and not ‘Fit Page’.

Carolin’s last blog post.. “Green Space” named finalist for magazine award

David, Why thank you, interesting some people actually find just one link out of the hundreds displayed there.

Carolin, Actually that was what I was trying to get across the Zoom function in the preferences… I was just going off memory before and yeah 72 does help 🙂 Strange it was on 98.

Hi Jacob, found your website via the ProBlogger project and am very impressed. Thanks for an informative article on presenting concepts to clients, which, in all honesty, can be a nightmare at times.

David Walker’s last blog post..ProBlogger Killer Title Project

Great post! One thing I wonder is how Adobe Thermo project is going to change this discussion. From the videos on the web (Google Adobe Thermo), you’ll be able to take your Photoshop file and convert it into a Flex application with a couple of mouse clicks. This will allow your mock-up to become a “working” web page with sample data and provide some level of interaction using a flash player. This sort of technology should make it easier for to present a design to a client and allow them to get a good feeling of the overall site. Of course, we’ll need to wait until Adobe release Thermo to see if the marketing hype lives up to promise of the simplification of web site development.

BJ Scheid, Thanks for the info on Adobe Thermo, I wasn’t even aware of it!

I use pages as i’m on a mac and use yellow bubbles that have a shadow with a line pointing to areas of note. I don’t think it takes away because the shadows make them seem on top.

I love this post. Thanks!

When I was on internship, I remember a client asking us to just print the webpages because they weren’t able to view it online for some pecular reasons. So, this post really makes sense! 🙂

A couple of things I do:

1) I try to meet face-to-face. If that’s not possible, I talk over the phone. I try to interview as much extensively as possible. I have to know how the client thinks and what he or she wants.

2) When I do my updates, I put a “dummy page” on my own site, and show it to the client. When it’s all done, then I upload it to their webspace.

I found these two ways work for me. But I’m always open to suggestions!

Thanks Mike for your input! Your dummy page could be improved possibly by using the ‘design studio’ method.

are we really having a discussion about how to present a website to a client?

Thanks you very much. Great list for me Keep up the good work !

mocklinkr.com is a mockup publisher specifically designed to help with this problem.

In 3 bullets 1) Hosted: we host your mockups 2) Interactive: You can easily make images clickable to show the navigation 3) Feedback: From the published view clients can select regions and leave comments

Check it out!

Thank you Vishu! A great service.

You really should check out RedMark ( http://www.redmarkit.com )

It’s amazingly easy to use. It offers just what I need : upload different versions of a mock-up, annotations/n, client access without login/password.

Currently it’s free.

Best regards.

thanks, very useful stuff there, thanks for sharing it

I feel like sending the client any type of mock up in a browser is a bad idea. This definitely gives them the impression that the site is close to finished. Many clients don’t understand the difference between a flat image and an interactive html page. Even if they aren’t expecting functionality from the mock up, seeing a mock up in a browser will make them think “Ok, so you’re almost done?” and that is definitely not the impression that you want to give after just drafting comps. We all know how much sweat goes into the project after the design is approved.

Great post. Keep sharing.

Thanks for advice.

theclientspace.com is an option

I created a Design Slideshow – it keeps the images all together in a series of clickable thumbnails, and makes the image scrollable as if you’re viewing an actual website. Here’s a sample: http://yourcompany.theclientspace.com/ds/dental and here’s more info about the service: http://www.theclientspace.com/design-slideshow

We are currently beta testing a website similar to codedpreviews.com – however it will be a paid service. We think a paid version will make it a faster and more reliable way to preview your web designs.

If anyone is interested in testing it out, you can register for free right now at HostedPreviews.com

A great post. It also helps to simply explain them that the narrative has no life of it as of now. Also, sending it as PDF has advantages that they can re size them easily and then the layers advantages.

Great points.

I’ve been using Approval Manager to help with all of my proofs. They have a pretty solid proofing tool called Spark! where I can upload a PNG, send a link to a client (or add them to an approval) and they can make their comments right on the image. Best part… they have a free version. It’s made my life a heck of a lot easier with managing proofs. http://www.metacommunications.com/products/approval_manager

Many a time, we choose to present in person, for reasons being, the chances of lots of questions and comments for changes are high, might as well kill two birds with one stone and call it in as a meeting.

hello friend, where can we buy cheap soccer kits , could you tell me , thanks

This is post is old, But old is just like gold for me. Keep posting…..

Maybe it is a old post, but I liked reading it. Many years I had ‘problems’ to show my clients my designs. I think I tried every way described in this blog. The best way, for me, was to upload them in a website as background image. This worked so good that I made a plugin for WordPress that does this for me now. It is called Mockup. It is a free plugin. I hope it will help some of you. 🙂

A long time ago I’ve made a very simple tool for my webdesigners. It’s based on simple JPG in browser sharing. The main idea is that sending just a .jpg / .pdf or anything like this makes people don’t “see” how it is in the browser + they scale jpgs so you’re never sure how it will be displayed (80 % zoom..).

If logged-in containing webdesigners upload history.. Available here: http://im.24d.cz

I disagree with all of the points above. I would rather suggest the opposite. DON’T PRINT. PUT IMAGES, etc.. just read it on the contrary and maybe it works

I to have spent ages fighting over whats the best way (html/css visual Vs Photoshop visuals).

I always give clients design options, so spend the time on Html/Css visuals – only for them to choose one of the options seem a little over the top and can be time consuming (if you not using templates). But flat photoshop visuals don’t convey the interaction – which is the bit clients seem to like…

So my solution (right or wrong) is to provide photoshop visuals, with multiple versions showing hovers/functionality etc hooked up within a html page (home, home-nav (showing nav dropdowns), which then links through the various different page designs (home, Products, Services etc) – and also try and get the backgrounds working so not just an image centered, then i create a subdomain for each client client.domianname.com which takes them to there visual – with a landing page for to direct them to each option.

I always talk clients trough the visuals and support the concepts with links to sliders and/or other jquery where used etc – either face to face or by webinar/skype.

Not perfect but the route i use, which seems to help convey everything i want to client – and there not all web savy like us!

Cheers Matt

I put my screens in Apple’s Aperture and let it create a simple online gallery for me. But I wonder why adobe never came up with a “show at web resolution” option for acrobat. It would make things a lot easier.

Cheers, Tim

Great article . As from the side of Ux designer I can say I always send the mockup – jpg by email and it always works . Sometimes but not often I send .jpg by skype but it`s not good way .

It’s also possible to use Adobe Muse to build an interactive Mockup. If you’re using PS or FW to design it, Muse makes the process even faster, and, you get to put your website online using Adobe Catalyst.

Nice post, thanks.

Such a great tips! I usually use an extension on my browser to crawl the webpage and send them pictures. I always update them about the daily progress. They use to like a lot. hihihi

Great blog, buddy, I’m enjoying it!

Hi,. . I want to post directly to my wordpress blog from my desktop, specifically from Command prompt. . . I know there is a protocol called xml-rpc, but that is of no help to me, as I don’t know what on earth it is. Any help would be appreciated.. comment tomber enceinte rapidement en allaitant

Now we have tools for that 😉 For example InVision, Symu.co, Concept.ly. In one place client and designer can “meet” and work. Clients can add comments and use hotspots which make offline project more interactive.

Web design is simply the “design” of a website as it appears on the internet when viewed with any device. It has become progressively more about the appearance and functionality of web pages than about software development. A web designer will have to ensure consistency in design and user experience across multiple devices for the same website. The application of fonts, colors, and layouts influence how customers relate to the web page and their perception of the brand concerning trust and user-friendliness.

A web designer will usually present their results from working with their client’s ideas and vision for a website. This is generally done in a web design presentation sent or administered to the client’s audience or key decision-makers. Browse through our 100% editable web design presentation slides, templates, and mockups to save time drawing up your presentation.

Our web design templates are dynamic and user-friendly. Help your client envision what User Experience will be like on their webpage using the Simple User Profile PowerPoint Template , for example. For those who work with WordPress, you can use our Editable WordPress Mockup PowerPoint Template   to present your ideas to your clients.

How do you create a Web Design presentation?

Our 100% editable web design templates, for example, provide a straightforward layout to showcase your idea for a client’s webpage. You can import elements such as fonts, graphics, images, logos, and others into these web design templates.

Which template is best for presentation?

Web design slide templates have different applications depending on the website’s use (company, e-commerce, service provider, etc.). A web design presentation template that allows you to import all the key brand elements that help your client visualize their webpage is your best bet. Our 100% editable web design templates and mockups will make great additions to your arsenal.

How do you deliver a stellar Web Design presentation?

Detailed web-designed PowerPoint slides are necessary for a successful presentation. You want a layout that shows what you have in mind. This allows you to communicate the website concerning perception and functionality with your client. You need to know where these elements are located, why they are located there, and why they need to feature where they feature. These help you communicate the confidence and expertise that your client is likely looking for.

13 Best Presentation Websites in 2024

A computer showing the 13 Best Presentation Websites in 2024

Presentation websites are applications created to present information as a slide show. Slideshows are presentations that comprise charts, images, videos, and the standard text. They ensure that data is displayed clearly, summarized, and readable to the audience.

Slideshows work best when presented on a projector or a big screen. Intermittently, some users might print out slide shows as documents, but this is ill-suited for that purpose.

Any presentation tool must have three fundamental functions:

 • ‍ A text editor: to input the contents of the presentation.
 • ‍ An import function: to insert and manipulate images and other content.
 • ‍ A slide-show or presenter mode: that displays the content in a nice, formatted way.

Slide shows often consist of a combination of text, video, images and charts. Their primary function is displaying clear, readable and summarized data to an audience.

Most presentations are shared and presented on a larger screen or through a digital projector. In rare occasions, slide presentations are printed out as a replacement for text documents, but this is a really inefficient way to review data, that Garr Reynolds calls ‘ PresDocs ’ (Garr Reynolds is the author of Presentation Zen, one of the most important go-to reference for successful presentations).

What makes the best presentation website?

When looking for the best presentation apps, there is a need to consider not just pitch decks but also school lectures, religious sermons, and adverts. Therefore, an excellent presentation app should be affordable, have enough sharing and collaboration options, have a range of pre-built templates, and be flexible.

Visualization in presentations

A presentation without visual aids can be very boring. It's hard to remember things if they are just words on a page or screen. But with visuals, people retain information much better. So, ensure you have some great images to help your audience understand what you're talking about.

Consider using infographics if you want to add some spice to your presentations. Infographics are visually appealing ways to present complex information in a simple way. They can include charts, graphs, maps, diagrams, timelines, etc. Many online tools are available to create them, including Piktochart , Visually, and Canva .

How do I create a presentation without PowerPoint?

Numerous alternatives to PowerPoint are on the Internet. The issue is not about creating a presentation without PowerPoint but getting that presentation tool or software that can help achieve your goal.

While many tools offer free accounts to peruse and utilize online and offline presentations, some do not. This does not mean the free tools are not good, rather, it is just a marketing idea.

What can I use instead of PowerPoint for free?

Here are some presentation tools you can make use of instead of PowerPoint;

WPS Office boasts functionality and a well-designed, along with offline document capabilities. Sometimes accused of having very similar features to Microsoft Office, users can efficiently work on PowerPoint files. It also offers many templates. However, collaboration might be a bit stressful.

WPS Office is available on Android, Web Windows, iOS, Linux, and macOS.

If there is one thing Canva has, it is templates. Canva makes PowerPoint look simple with a vast array of templates for every specification. If you have a problem with making decisions, do not use Canva.

However, that is its Achilles heel; many people find themselves scrolling for so long. Not all templates are free but, it helps narrow down your options.

 • Bonus Tool: InVideo

InVideo is considered a cloud-based online video editing tool with the feature of creating slideshow videos. it contains a huge selection of slideshow templates, stock footage, photos, and music to make great slideshow videos without a watermark. Although it is available for free, some features require a premium subscription.

Without a doubt, it can be stressful to get that one presentation software that can fit your exact specifications and give the required output. Although utilizing Slidebean can be very flexible, it can also be use to produce the best infographic presentation that compares data in an easily-understood manner.

 • Add bright and bold colors to make your presentation stand out and grab your audience's attention. Create a vibrant and dynamic look by using neon colors and duotones.
 • Instead of using different transitions for each slide, use the same transition horizontally throughout your presentation. This creates a cohesive and visually pleasing flow.
 • To create a sophisticated, minimalist look, limit your color choices to shades of a single color.
 • Connect with your audience and make your message more relatable by incorporating personal anecdotes or stories into your presentation.
 • Add depth and dimension to your presentation with isometric illustrations, which can be a fun and engaging way to present complex information.
 • Sign up for Visme’s presentation software to start applying these creative presentation ideas.

105+ Creative Presentation Ideas

The ideas we've shared cut across various design concepts, industries and use cases. We've also sprinkled presentation design ideas from Visme's template library.  If you're running out of creative steam, you can use these templates to jumpstart your designs.

And if you're running out of time, consider using Visme's AI presentation maker to bring these 100 creative presentation ideas to life. It's a user-friendly tool that effortlessly transforms your ideas into visually stunning presentations.

Now, let's jump into the creative presentation design ideas.

1 Use Neon Colors

Neon colors will give your presentation enough color kick to keep the viewer’s attention. Use neon colors either as the background, as specific elements or as details inside the slides. The trick with neon is to not go overboard with the contrasts. Instead of using a neon rainbow, think more along the lines of neon accents.

Using a minimal design composition is one of the unique presentation ideas. The trick is to have just enough information and visual details for the viewer to feel comfortable seeing the slides. A minimal design can instill calm and awe in your audience when done right. The trick with minimalism is to know when enough is enough, you wouldn’t want to be boring instead of minimal.

3 Use all caps

Another creative presentation idea is using all caps when you feel like the topic of your presentation can be delivered with few words. Using all capitals in your slides will give the message importance. This design might not be suited for a text-heavy presentation but maybe one with an audio narrative that goes along with it or bullet points.

Also, this kind of presentation design is suitable for captivating introduction slide ideas.

4 Go vertical

Rectangular presentations are definitely the norm, but with the rise of Instagram Stories, this might be starting to change. This shift introduces a unique opportunity for those looking for ideas for presentation styles that stand out. Now that we can put archived stories into Highlights, why not publish vertical presentations there? Going vertical is just one idea. Along with that, you can add any other design technique.

5  Use duotones

Duotone doesn’t exactly mean “two colors,” it actually means “two tones.” The idea behind this design angle is to use two contrasting tonalities which can have different shades. The difference between duotone and two colors is that it has a more edgy look. Depending on what two tonalities you choose, it can be subtle or very powerful. The photos used in the design also need to be customized to the duotone color you chose.

6 Add a video in different shapes or snippets

Videos can be a powerful tool in your arsenal for engaging your audience during a presentation. Not only do they help to break up the monotony of a lecture-style presentation, but they can also help to explain complex concepts, add visual interest, and evoke emotions.

One way to make your videos stand out is by using different shapes or snippets. Rather than presenting a standard rectangular video, consider incorporating shapes such as circles, triangles or diamonds. These shapes can add a unique and visually appealing element to your presentation.

Another way to incorporate video snippets is by breaking up a longer video into smaller, bite-sized pieces. This can be particularly useful if you have a lengthy video that you want to show but don't want to lose your audience's attention. By breaking it up into smaller segments, you can keep your audience engaged and prevent them from losing interest.

Don’t worry about the design complexity. If you create your presentation in Visme, you can resize your videos instantly and turn them into any shape you want.

7  Unify transitions horizontally

Unifying the transitions between slides is always a great idea, but doing it horizontally is especially effective. By keeping all the movements going in one direction, it's both easy to follow and will look great. You don’t need to just apply horizontal transitions to the switch between slides, you can also apply animation to the titles and images. As long as they all go in the same direction, you are gold.

8  Black and white + spot of bright color

This presentation design idea is highly effective if you're looking for a creative way to present information.

Adding a bright color to a black and white scheme can add just the right amount of attention-grabbing detail to your presentation. Try choosing a powerful color so that it’s really noticeable and pops visually. You can use the color in small amounts or in large sections. Up to you, just remember to maintain a balance throughout.

9 Use a color theme

A cohesive color theme throughout your presentation can engage your audience and create a more visually appealing experience.

To start, consider the overall tone of your presentation and what emotions you want to evoke in your audience. Are you presenting on a serious topic, such as healthcare or finance, where a more subdued color palette may be appropriate?

Or are you presenting on a more lighthearted topic, such as creativity or innovation, where bright and bold colors can help to capture your audience's attention?

Once you have a general idea of your color palette, try to use it consistently throughout your slides. This means using the same background, font and accent colors for headings and graphics– like the presentation template below.

Visme's presentation templates offer a wide range of professionally designed themes with 300+ slides in 20+ different categories, making it the best choice for exploring creative presentation ideas without PowerPoint. But don't just take it for word. Here's what one of our satisfied customers has to say about Visme.

"Previously we were using PowerPoint, which is fine, but the interactivity you can get with Visme is so much more robust that we've all steered away from PowerPoint."

"PowerPoint templates are plain and boring, and we want to create more fun and engaging content. Visme has multiple slide templates to choose from, which makes this so much easier."

"I just made a deck recently and it took me about 15-20 minutes. I found a template I really liked and tweaked it and put it in our brand colors. In PowerPoint, it would take anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half."

- Kendra Bradley, Graphic Content Developer at WOW!

10  Add full-screen videos

The use of full-screen video in your slides can have a big impact on your storytelling. There’s a catch though. The wrong video will be detrimental to your message, be mindful of the videos you chose to grace the background of your slides. The video should either tell your story without words or be a complement that won’t interfere. The wrong video will confuse your viewers and it will be hard to get their undivided attention back.

11  Use an 80’s visual style

If looking for a unique design style, why not try an 80’s style for a change. Neon graffiti writing, disco balls, and brightly colored shapes might go well with your presentation’s topic. You can use 80’s visuals as small complementary elements or as the entirety of the presentation style. Nevertheless, if your presentation is about something quite serious then maybe you should try another style.

12  Go vintage

Another creative presentation idea is the vintage look. This could work really well with a history-themed presentation or anything to do with recuperating old traditions. When we say “vintage” we mean sepia-toned photos, intricate picture frames, bold fonts which look like they came out of old posters.

A vintage color palette is usually pastel turquoise green, ochre yellow and washed out blue and orange. You could consider using vintage mockup sets to create scenes for your slides, or use vintage style fonts, and old photographs as backgrounds.

13  Use a monochrome palette

A monochrome palette is one that maintains a single tonality in different strengths. For example, you can create a presentation in shades of blue, or in shades of orange. Use the palest shade for the background and a stronger shade for the titles and decorative shapes. Try doing it the opposite way as well. You can even use photos with a bit of a filter effect in the chosen color by adding a color filter.

14  Tell a personal story

Telling stories from your own life—whether those stories are deeply moving, humorous tales, or just little snippets that allow someone to look into your history—can be a great way to make a presentation more meaningful.

Colin Stokes uses this to his advantage in his TED talk. He begins by talking about the movies he watches with his daughter and what she likes, and then moving into watching a movie with his son, and wondering how it has affected him, allowing him to move seamlessly into his actual points.

Watch the video below to learn how Colin Stokes did it

Choose a relevant story from your past, and tell it with all the honesty that you can. Your audience will feel that, sympathize, and therefore connect more with your message.

15  Creative photo crops

The photos in your presentations can be cropped hundreds of different ways. From simple circles or rectangles to more elaborate triangles, polygons, letter shapes or even a brushstroke. Analyze the message of your presentation to know which shape to use for the cropping of your photos. You can also create a collage with the shapes as long as they don’t distract from the information being presented.

16 Add fun illustrations

Adding fun illustrations is a great idea to engage your audience during a presentation. They can help break up text-heavy slides, make your presentation more visually attractive and reinforce your message, making it one of the best fun presentation ideas.

Hand-drawn doodles, icons and graphics and animated GIFs are all illustrations you can use. To maximize the visual impact of your illustrations, you can use them in 3D.

With Visme, you can enhance your presentation by adding 3D objects that allow you to customize their colors, size and alignment. Additionally, you can add 3D animated graphics to take things to the next level.

When using illustrations, it's important to remember to use them sparingly to avoid overwhelming your audience. Less is more when it comes to adding graphics to your slides. Remember to match the illustrations with your theme and color scheme to keep things consistent.

17  Thick and bold fonts

Huge chunky fonts are a great way to call attention to titles on slides. You could even try making the letters bleed over the edges or place the words vertical along the side. The best thick and bold fonts are the ones with minimal decorations. Try using fonts that have strong corners or the opposite, extreme rounded terminals. It will also work best if the title is short and sweet.

18 Go with nature

Freshen up your presentation with some natural elements around the edges or as a background. You could use full-screen background photos of leaves or palm fronds coming in from the sides of the slides.

Another presentation idea would be to use nature-related photography along with other design ideas like interesting photo crops. This technique could be used for presentations that relate to nature or natural topics, but also for a home decor proposal or creative direction pitch for a TV ad.

Integrating nature into your slides is a beautiful presentation example of how to connect with your audience on a different level. This technique could be used for presentations about environmental topics or even about home decoration.

19 Use circles

Circles represent wholeness and a natural sense of completion. They can signify eternity and constant movement. They can also make your presentation more friendly and emotionally accessible. You can try using circles as decorative elements or as the shape for cropping images and as backgrounds for illustrations.

20 Add some sparkle (glitter backgrounds)

Give your presentations a little bit of a festive feel with some glittery details. This PowerPoint idea can work great if you are presenting a creative proposal for a fashion label or clothing catalog. It can even work really well for holiday-themed pitches or products. There are different types of glittery graphics you can use, like a glitter texture, a glittering rain or even just a dash of glitter. You can find some great glitter backgrounds and textures over at Freepik .

21 Get crafty (ripped paper details)

Sometimes to tell a story, visual details can really help get a mood across. Ripped paper shapes and edges can give a presentation a special feel, almost as if it was done by hand. This visual technique works for any type of presentation except maybe in a corporate setting. Ripped paper can be found on creative graphics resource sites or you can do it yourself and take a photo.

22 Cut-out paper illustrations

Another crafty idea to design your slides is by using cut paper illustrations. This technique could look really crafty or quite elegant if done well. Cut paper can be used as an elaborate background, as the letters in titles or as decorative elements. There are some great cut paper bundles online to use as PNG files which can be uploaded to the Visme editor.

23  Pathway transitions

24  use isometric illustrations.

If you are looking for a different way to illustrate your slides, why not consider using isometric illustrations? This style of illustration is great for explaining things that can be separated into parts. The parts can be animated as well. An isometric illustration can work for any kind of presentation, from technology to corporate. It will give your presentation a modern edge and a professional look.

25  Use motion graphics

Motion graphics are a great way to illustrate an idea with animated objects . They don’t tell stories on their own, they support the context and illustrate the content.

For example, if your presentation is about travel, you could have flying airplanes across the slides or bags on a luggage conveyor belt. For something more abstract, you can use moving shapes and add effects to the titles. Your Visme editor has a variety of design tools to help you create all sorts of content with motion graphics.

Here’s what one of Visme’s satisfied customers Jessica L. | Small-Business Owner, has to say about Visme’s presentation tool:

"No need to go back to PowerPoint. Visme makes project presentations easy and fast. Lots of useful templates and excellent graphics. I enjoy the features they continue to add and update often. They make project work easy".

26  Add GIFs to your slides

GIFs can be fun, entertaining and humorous. They can also be informational. GIFs be sourced from sites like Giphy , where you can also create your own! Choosing to include a GIF in your presentation slide or a few different GIFs will depend on what message you want to send with your story. The theme and topic of your presentation will help you decide if you need a clip from a blockbuster movie or a quick representation of the process of your systems.

27  Use quotes between slides

Quotes can be good breathers between a bunch of informative slides. You can either use them to separate ideas inside your presentation or to start new sections of information. It’s important that your quotes represent the topic of your presentation so that they make sense and not confuse the viewer.

28  Start with “once upon a time”

One of the most effective and engaging ways to present a presentation is by incorporating creative storytelling techniques.

If a presentation can be created as a story, then why not go all the way and start the presentation with a classic story opening? Using the “once upon a time” phrase will instantly grab the viewer’s attention because it will be out of the ordinary. Make a slide especially for it with a visual that matches the topic of your presentation.

29  Turn the slides into a scrolling infographic instead of a presentation

To showcase your content in a unique and engaging way, consider using creative slide ideas that break away from the traditional slide-by-slide approach. For instance, you can arrange your slides vertically to create a scrolling infographic instead of a classic slide-by-slide transition presentation.

This innovative format expands the types of presentations you can create, offering a fresh perspective on information delivery.

An added bonus to this presentation style is to add parallax scrolling or interaction animation. As the viewer scrolls down, the information fills each slide progressively. It doesn’t continue until the viewer scrolls again. This technique is best for displaying online slide show presentation ideas.

30  engage your audience.

What’s one of the best ways to make your presentations more interesting? Make the audience a part of them.

Regardless if you’re presenting in person to a room full of people or via Zoom to viewers around the world, there are a number of techniques to engage your audience with both your content and yourself. The trick is to make them feel connected somehow, like they can relate. You can achieve this with humor, storytelling, asking questions and inviting them to leave comments in the webinar chat window.

Take this speech by Donovan Livingston. He delivers a commencement speech in spoken word poetry, and specifically encourages the audience to take part, saying they should clap, throw their hands in the air, or otherwise participate if they feel so moved. While not seen, several people are heard cheering and clapping throughout the video.

Participation can also be accomplished through things such as games, posing questions or something as simple as asking participants to raise their hands.

31 Use a scrunched paper background

Give your presentation a laid-back and grunge feel by designing it with a scrunched paper background. It can be any kind of paper really, depending on your topic. It could be notebook paper, or printer paper, it could even be recycled paper. Try a few different types of paper until you find the one that suits your story.

32 Add interactive pop-ups

Adding interactive pop-ups is a game-changer when it comes to creative ways of presenting. These pop-ups allow you to go beyond the traditional approach, giving your audience a more dynamic and engaging experience.

Interactive pop-ups can take many forms, from quizzes and polls to clickable infographics and interactive timelines. With Visme, you can access various interactive features that can help you create engaging and effective presentations.

For example, you can create clickable icons or buttons that allow your audience to explore additional information or resources. You can also create interactive timelines that enable your audience to explore different events or milestones.

One of the most powerful interactive features of Visme is the ability to create quizzes and polls. You can make interactive questions and answer options that allow your audience to engage with your presentation on a deeper level.

You can also use this feature to gather feedback from your audience, allowing you to tailor your presentation to their needs and interests.

33  Use a back-to-school theme

A back-to-school theme can make your presentation look like a lot of fun. This is a great technique for teachers and educators welcoming their students back to a new school year. The background can be a sheet of notebook paper, an open notebook, or a blackboard. The edges could be decorated with pencils and paperclips, maybe an eraser or sharpener. The back-to-school theme has lots of possibilities.

34  Use a billboard-inspired theme

Use billboard mockups to create slides which look like billboards. This could look interesting and quite unique.  You could use the same billboard for all the slides, or different ones for a more varied approach. This technique would work great with a pitch for an election or a local spot in a government office.

35  Use black-and-white photography

Black and white photography is a classic design technique. They import elegance and sophistication to any design by providing a minimalistic approach to the visuals. The photos can either be desaturated from color photos or given an artistic flair with extra contrast and fewer grey tones.

36  Explain your reasons

What people really want to know is why you’re giving the presentation you’re giving. This is especially true if you’re pitching to investors or potential new clients. When you share your why with the audience using storytelling and body language, you make meaningful connections and lasting relationships

Simon Sinek explains quite well why this is so important—the greatest leaders, the ones who inspire the most people, understand why they do the things they do, rather than just what or how.

When it comes to explaining your reasons, one tool that can significantly improve your presentations is Visme's AI writer . This advanced feature helps you write your presentation copy, break down complex ideas and edit or improve your existing words. With Visme's AI writer, you can make sure your "why" is clear and easy to understand alongside your visuals.

37  Add an audio narrative

Your presentation doesn’t need to be silent, especially if you won’t be standing by it to tell the story yourself. Adding an audio narrative can turn a viewable presentation into an experience. You can either set it up as a video that runs on its own and the viewer looks and listens, or it can be triggered by arrows that are clicked on.

38 Follow a space theme with photography

Most of the photos from Nasa are labeled as public domain. Meaning that you can give your presentation a space theme quite easily. Choose images of astronauts in space or more abstract and colorful images like distant galaxies and nebulas. The latter can make great backgrounds behind content without the topic necessarily being about space.

39 Do a space theme with illustration

An illustrated space theme can be either colorful and whimsical or sober and elegant. By choosing the style of illustration you use, you can either use this technique for presentations related to children or scientists. Cartoon astronauts can be lots of fun, line illustration planets can be educational and data-driven drawings can be informational.

40  Include music

Sometimes, when listening to someone talk for long periods of time, it helps to have something else to draw your attention. While images are great, including music can really help stimulate an audience and set the mood.

Dean Burnett talks about why this happens: “[Music] provides non-invasive noise and pleasurable feelings, to effectively neutralize the unconscious attention system’s ability to distract us.” Essentially, music is entertaining enough that, when in the background, can keep us focused on otherwise un-entertaining things.

Take, for example, this valedictorian’s speech. While peppered with humor and stories of his time through high school, he uses background music to help keep people’s attention—in fact, this is specifically stated to be his reason for including music, humorously quipping about giving the audience something to listen to while they “zone out” of his speech.

Whether incorporated into individual slides, in a video, done live, or with a music-playing device nearby, this creative presentation idea can be a great way to enhance the quality of your speech or talk.

41  Graffiti photography backgrounds and details

Using colorful backgrounds like photos of urban graffiti can give your presentation a bit of an edge. There are lots of free photographs of graffiti on sites like Unsplash which you can use straight away. Apart from graffiti murals, you can also incorporate graffiti letterings in your titles and quotes. You can find graffiti style fonts online quite easily.

42  Stop-motion

The stop-motion technique can take time but it can also make your presentation unforgettable. There are lots of ways to use stop-motion, either with characters doing actions or objects that move around and create a scene. Stop-motion can also be used to create titles that move into place. What the title is written with can be anything, from toys to plants. The theme and topic of your presentation will ultimately be the driving point to what kind of stop-motion can be used. But be sure that it works from educational to promotional to corporate.

43  Claymation

Very similar to stop-motion, claymation is the animation of things created with clay or play-doh. Anything can be created with clay, so the possibilities really are endless about what can be achieved. This technique really does take a lot of time, you can source it out to a professional or buy some already created footage. The claymation can be just a decorative element in the background or it could also be the center of the presentation.

44  Color blocking

The color blocking technique is another creative presentation idea that entails using color in large sections and in contrasting tones. The idea is that the color blocks will be strong and colorful. The color blocks can either be the shapes that determine where the information goes or just a way to separate the slides in specific sections.

Any type of presentation can benefit from color blocking. Just make sure you use colors that go together and don’t clash. Explore this technique for different presentation slide ideas, especially when aiming for a bold and visually striking effect. Take a look at this sponsorship deck and how it uses bright and bold color blocking techniques.

45  Get surreal

Surrealism is an avant-garde movement from the 20th century which was meant to tap into subconscious creativity. This might not be the kind of design technique for any sort of presentation but it can work for one that is about art, or literature or other creative outlets. There are plenty of surrealist artworks in the public domain sector or the Metropolitan Museum of Art. These can be used as subtle backgrounds or visual complements to the text.

Designing a presentation for an organization requires input from different stakeholders. However, when collaborating with others on a presentation design, keeping track of all the moving parts can be difficult.

That's where Visme's workflow management feature comes in. It helps organize roles, tasks, progress, deadlines and corrections all in one place to make your presentation design process efficient and smooth.

46  Polaroids

Polaroids, often a photography favorite, can inspire creative photography presentation ideas. The original Polaroids from the 70’s could be used as vintage polaroids that have been kept in a box for years. The newest Instamatic photographs, which are the new kind of polaroids, can be used for a fun way to show photos and visuals in presentation slides. You could either use one polaroid per slide or a collection of polaroids on a table or corkboard.

There are many topics that can work with Polaroid photography backgrounds and details in your slide show presentation ideas.

48  Use a geometric background

A geometric background can look really nice on any presentation. Geometric backgrounds can be tiled polygons or more abstract compositions of different size polygons. The decision to choose between tiled shapes and more creative compositions will depend on your creative angle and disposition. You can use these types of designs with any colors, so you can match the theme or your brand.

49 Coffee style design

Using a coffee-style design can work for any PowerPoint presentation idea, from office-related topics to digital nomads to anything or anyone who loves coffee. If the background is subtle, it can fit a more serious topic or data report. It can make a boring presentation just a bit more visually entertaining than the rest. Of course, it can also be perfect for a small coffee brewer pitching their company to investors.

50  Include memes

You’ve seen them everywhere by this point. You might be pretty sick of them. However, that doesn’t mean memes can’t be useful—in fact, using a couple strategically can surprise the audience and make them laugh.

The presentation " Memes, Memes Everywhere" focuses on, unsurprisingly, memes, and explains their purpose while using examples on every slide, which help support their points and add some humor to a very text-heavy presentation.

Choosing relevant memes and using them sparingly can really help add some personality to your presentation, without distracting from the work.

51  Polka dots

Using a polka-dot background is suitable for various types of presentations. It can give your presentation a whimsical look or simply give it a subtle texture. The polka dots could be small and soft or big and punchy. A strong polka-dot background can work great in a creative setting or even boring data analysis. The style of polka dots will depend on the general topic of your presentation. You can use the polka-dot design as a full background or as a decorative section on the slide.

52  Metaphors

Visual metaphors can be useful in a similar manner; they can spice up your presentation, illustrate your point, and make your work far more entertaining. James Geary speaks about just how important metaphors are.

His presentation provides several examples of metaphors--such as the phrase “some jobs are jails”--and explains just how hard it is to ignore the lasting power of a well-used metaphor. Because of the connotations a metaphor can bring to the table, their use is an excellent way to imbue added meaning to your words.

53  Use timelines in your slides

Timelines can be used in lots of different ways inside a PowerPoint presentation, and the ideas are limitless. A timeline can either be inside one slide, or it can be connected between various slides. You can make a timeline with icons, connected shapes, or an inclined line. The timeline can be a visual way of explaining a chronological event or a plan of action that needs to be taken care of. Make sure the timeline fits the rest of the theme.

54  Use a comic book style

Comic books are a source of inspiration for many people. The visual aspect of a comic style composition can really make your presentation shine. There are a few ways you can use this technique. You could set up the slides as if they were snippets of a comic book, place the text in speech and thought bubbles and apply a background with a pointillist texture. If using characters, make sure the characters fit the theme of your presentation. For a perfect fit, hire a designer to create a comic book presentation just for your company.

55  Use a manga style

Looking for creative PowerPoint slide ideas that stand out? Consider taking inspiration from the Japanese art of Manga. Manga can give your presentation a distinct and eye-catching look, much like comic books.

It isn’t as versatile as a comic book because it has a more specific look, so it might not work for all topics. It can work for more creative outlets like fashion, art, and photography. Manga has a specific style for the atmosphere around the unique characters as well. They are more common in black and white and look very photographic.

56  Use psychedelic visuals

Psychedelia was a big part of the design world in the 60’s and 70’s. Music and creative event posters were so intricate and colorful that they took an important place in the design history books. This design style can be used for a unique visual approach in your presentations. Just like many other techniques we have mentioned, they can be used as a background in slides or as decorative elements. The swirly shapes and contrasting colors can call attention to the viewer in a positive way.

There are plenty of neon light fonts available online to choose from, from classic style neon tubing on a wall to a neon style given to a font to make it look like neon. Presentations of any topic can be given an additional visual with a bit of neon brightness.

58  Cinemagraph backgrounds

A cinemagraph is like a GIF loaded with elegance. The idea behind a cinemagraph is a photo with a moving section which makes it look cinematic. This kind of background can keep your viewers happily hypnotized while listening to your audio narrative or keep them on the slide longer to truly grasp the information being given. There are cinemagraphs available for all sorts of themes and topics. You can definitely find one that suits your needs.

59  Full-screen video backgrounds

A full-screen background can be really appealing. But just like other design ideas, the video you choose needs to match the theme and topic of your presentation. Your best bet is to have a video which is directly related to what your presentation is about. Videos can be created especially for your purpose, sourced with permission from YouTube or bought from a stock video site.

60  Visualize data

Staring at a large amount of numbers on screen can be overwhelming for most people, even if the realities of those numbers enforce your point. What’s the best way to avoid scaring your crowd? Put the data into easily understandable visualizations. This especially helpful when customizing sales, business or consultant presentation template .

If you want to take this a step further, you can use illustrations or create infographics to make these data visualizations even more engaging.

61  Use a wild west theme

The wild west is not a very versatile theme but can work for a history project or a proposal for a wild west themed party or event. What entails a wild west theme? Brown sandy tones, horses, cowboys, and tumbleweeds. If the full-on wild west theme is too much, you can also take a cue from the era and be inspired by the color scheme. Another approach would be to use photography from the actual west of the United States, mountains and deserts and so on.

62 Use mind maps

Mind maps are great visual tools for explaining concepts easily. By including mind maps in your slides, you can relay complicated information visually and creatively. There are eight types of mind maps, the most common being bubble maps, the tree map, and flow map. Each one has a different purpose and you can learn all about this in our guide about mind maps in the Visual Learning Center.

63  Use interactive geographic maps

The difference between a static map and an interactive map will define how much attention your slides get. Regions can switch colors according to a change in data over time, making the map more into a chart. With Visme, you can make your maps interactive with live data . All you need to do is sync your data from a Google Sheets file and when your presentation is published online, your map will always be synchronized to that data.

Want to create your own interactive map?

 • Create a color-coded map to visualize geographical data
 • Choose either the entire world map, a continent or a country
 • Enable feature to have data values appear on hover

64  Color contrasts

Using contrasting colors in your slides will make the information pop out of the screen in a positive way. The trick to using contrasting colors is to know how colors match together. Contrasting doesn’t mean they need to clash. Try using a color palette generator like Adobe Color to find great palettes that will make this technique your new best friend. You can learn more about how color works in our guide about color perception in the Visme Learning Center.

65  Live data graphs

Adding live data to a presentation can turn your slides into evergreen content in a flash. You can use any type of chart and populate it with live data such as bar graphs, line graphs, pie graphs, and more. You can add live data graphs to one or two slides in your presentation or have a series of them. Creating a live data graph is easy with the Visme editor.

66  Color fade transitions

Transitions come in lots of different styles. We have mentioned horizontal transitions, animated transitions, and pathway transitions. This particular technique involves color as the ruling factor.

A color-fade transition makes each slide connected to each other through color. This can be achieved with gradients, color blocks, or colored photo filters. Make your PowerPoint presentation ideas stand out with color fade transitions.

67  “Grow” your presentation so it looks like one animated slide

This creative PowerPoint idea is quite interesting as it really only uses one slide that grows upon itself. The practical way to do this is to create the final slide with all the parts and information set up like a finished puzzle. Once you have the completed slide, duplicate it as many times as you need and systematically take off a bit of information until you’ve reached the first title slide. Once you have all the slides, make sure they are in order before downloading the entire thing.

68  Use humor

Want a great way to connect with your audience and make a memorable, more engaging presentation? Be funny. When used strategically, this is a great way to capture attention. In fact, infusing humor into your talk is one of the most effective fun presentation ideas you can use.

Morgan Spurlock makes wonderful use of this in his TED talk. For example, in one of his earliest statements, he offered individuals the opportunity to buy the rights to name his TED talk—which he refers to again at the end, where he reveals the title. He peppers the entire presentation with humorous commentary that nonetheless supports his point.

Create relevant jokes or find a way to bring out the humor in your subject, and your audience will be much more engaged and more likely to remember your words.

69  Tree diagram transitions

A tree diagram is one of the eight thinking maps which help visualize idea and concepts. The purpose of a tree diagram is to classify and organize information. This map can help build a presentation by making sure each slide is a continuation of the one before. They might need to be grouped into sections so that all the information is relayed easily.

Want to create your own tree diagram?

 • Get a head start with pre-made flowchart blocks
 • Easily snap lines and objects together
 • Dozens of shapes and lines styles to choose from

70  Journal style (with hand-drawn illustrations on the margins)

One creative presentation idea is to make your talk just a little bit different than the rest is to use a journal style. The general visual idea for this technique is to make your slides look like the pages of a journal. The style of the journal will depend on what your presentation topic is. It can be a whimsical bullet journal or an intricate botany journal. You could even consider handwriting on paper as a background.

71  Ink splatters

Use ink splatters to decorate your slides any way you like. They can be big and impressive behind the content, or they can be small and subtle like drops from a pen. An ink splatter can give your presentation a bit of an artistic flair and if done right, can make your slides look elegant and clean. Any style of presentation can benefit from some ink splatters as a decorative element.

If you're looking for fresh presentation slide ideas, why not experiment with ink splatters and see how they can enhance your next presentation?

72  Passport with stamps

Using travel stamps as a decorative element can work for a presentation with a travel-theme or a creative design proposal for a department store or airport mall. The stamps can be used as a background on a passport page or on their own around the content. A photo of a real passport page can be used for this technique but there are plenty of graphics available in this style on sites like Freepik .

73  Express your emotions

We can sometimes be afraid of expressing how we feel, even to those we’re close to, much less in front of a crowd. However, showing them makes your words more authentic and can generate compassion or excitement in your audience.

Take this TED talk by Thordis Elva and Tom Stranger , for example. While the two talk about their experiences, their voices break and crack. The emotional turmoil they went through is clearly heard, and viewers can clearly understand their pain.

This can take some getting used to, and some courage. However, the results are well worth the effort.

74  Use a video game theme

Video games come in all shapes and sizes. From kids' games to arcade games to car games. Each one has their own style, just like presentations do. If you think a video game visual style is good for your project, consider all the different kinds until you find the one that fits best. You can use game screenshots as backgrounds or infuse the entire design of the presentation with the video game style you chose.

75  Use postcards

One of the least-used creative presentation ideas is to turn your content inside slides into postcards which have been sent from around the world. They can be new postcards which could be used from either front or back sides. The back part would make a great text block for the content you need to display, the photo side can be on the sides or as a background. This design technique can work for presentations about literature, family connections, history or travel. There are postcard templates available on sites like Creative Market .

76  Incorporate robots in the design

Using robots in your slides can be a creative approach to visually elevate your presentation. There are different styles of robots you can add to your presentation design; realistic photography of anamorphic robots, cute illustrated robots, or robotic parts from factories. These visuals might only apply for technology-themed presentations or about robots themselves. Cute illustrations of robots can be great backgrounds for whimsical topics or other styles of storytelling presentations.

77  Chalk on blackboard

Looking for creative slides presentation ideas? Consider using a chalkboard design to add a unique and nostalgic touch to your presentation.

Writing on a chalkboard is not limited to a school setting or a bar menu. These two might be the most common yet they are not the only possibilities for using chalk on a blackboard. A good handwriting font is the best companion to a chalkboard design. Some of these fonts are already available with a chalky texture and others might need some professional tweaking to get the right texture.

78  Get inspired by a specific location

Even if the PowerPoint presentation ideas you are designing are not about a specific place in the world, you can be inspired by one to set up the color scheme and feel of the slides. For example, if you get inspired by Greece, you can use white and light blue hues or even photos of Greek islands. If you get inspired by Brazil, you can use photos of the beach, the texture of the boardwalk tiles or green, blue, and yellow color schemes.

get inspired by a specific location creative presentation ideas

79  Use props

Using props can quickly turn a run-of-the-mill presentation into a unique, interactive experience. Kenny Nguyen demonstrates this well. In his talk he often refers to the “sword of yes” and “shield of no.” Naturally he picks up a sword and shield from the table to help demonstrate his points.

Choosing similar props can help you really illustrate your points—and make it that much more entertaining, too.

80  Use hashtags as titles

In the age of social media, hashtags are used every day. They appear regularly on social media, in spoken and written conversations, and of course in content marketing. Why not include some hashtags as titles? This technique will work great in a presentation for a social media content management pitch, or an in an influencer marketing strategy. On another note, hashtag titles can even be used for any type of presentation geared at the digital generation.

use hashtags as titles creative presentation ideas

81  Black background, white letters, and color accents

When you use a black background, the colors that you place on top will usually look brighter than if they were on a white background. When creating this kind of color palette, make sure the colors you use don’t clash with each other or with the black. Along with the bright colors, make sure you use white to make the composition pop! Neon colors or pastel tones are what will work best.

82  Vintage film edges

Even though we are used to taking photos with our phones, the classic nostalgia of film is still prevalent in the world of visuals and design. The graphic representation of a film negative is as recognizable as an envelope representing an email. Use a vintage film edge along the horizontal edges of your slides to give your visuals a cinematic feel. Even better if you make the edges animated so that it looks like it’s rolling along on a projector.

83 Adult coloring book inspired design

Using a coloring book design can be really creative. Practically anything can be turned into a coloring book style illustration. A great way to use this technique is to have the first slide with the un-colored illustration and then progressively color in the illustration as the slides progress. Furthermore, if the illustration is depictive of the information, the visuals can be even more engaging.

84  Stripes

A stripes design is as classic as it gets. From pinstripes to artistic colorful lines, you can use them as a subtle background or a powerful striped theme intertwined with text boxes. Stripes are the kind of design technique that can work for any type of presentation, from corporate to educational.

85  Make each slide look like a social media post

Just like postcards and polaroids, you could try a creative approach and use social media templates to put the content in. The most notorious social media visual channel is Instagram. It has been known to inspire offline events as well. Make your slides look like social media posts or social media pages. For this technique, you can either use screenshots or templates.

86  Ink in water

Dropping ink in water creates beautiful colorful bubbly designs which can be photographed at high speed. These images can be used as backgrounds for any type of creative theme presentations. Choose the color and thickness of the ink design to match the theme of your presentation. There are also animated versions of this effect which can be bought like video stock.

87  Lego bricks

Use lego bricks as inspiration to fill your presentation slides with color and fun. Use the bricks to create slide frames, letters or even charts. The best approach to a lego inspired presentation is to be creative. There are lots of things you can do with lego, you could go as far as using the legos to write the titles of the slides. Don’t use the Lego logo though unless you are specifically designing a presentation about lego.

88  Use classic storytelling techniques

A presentation is, in a way, like a story—you’re talking about your chosen subject and leading viewers on a journey to discover what that subject means. Moreover, stories hold an intrinsic interest for us. Therefore, you can easily use several storytelling techniques to help improve your presentation.

Alex Blinkoff  goes into this in great detail, examining things such as “The Hero’s Journey” and provides several examples of ways to use storytelling techniques in your presentations. Check them out, and decide what might work best for your subject.

89  Jigsaw puzzles

Pieces of a jigsaw puzzle can be used to make charts, infographic diagrams, or interlocking frames. The idea behind puzzle pieces is that things come together to form a whole and this concept can be used for any slide and any kind of presentation. Make sure to use a suitable color palette that matches your theme and the rest of the presentation.

90  Headlines coming in animated on boats/trains/airplane

Headlines or titles can be given a life of their own inside the slides. One interesting and creative approach would be to make the titles enter the slide on top of some kind of vehicle. The vehicle could be anything, from a train to a boat, to an airplane. Depending on the type of vehicle, this animated technique can be used for child-themed topics, transportation themes, travel ideas, or even about a corporate sales report.

91  Use a camouflage design

Camo doesn’t necessarily need to convey a sense of military, although it does carry a strong connection. Thankfully, camouflage comes in different styles, from jungle greens to desert browns. Other out of the box camouflage styles are the ones where the colors are completely off the charts, like pinks and blues. Camouflage designs are better used as backgrounds or small subtle sections.

use a camouflage sign creative presentation ideas

92  Use unique novelty fonts for headers

There are so many novelty fonts to choose from out there these days! Using a unique novelty font for the titles and headers is a great way to add some visual pizzazz to your slides. Try looking for some really special fonts that carry personality. Once you have selected the font, add some color and texture to make it look even better.

use unique novelty fonts for headers creative presentation ideas

93  Use a city skyline

Using a background of a city skyline can work great for a presentation related to business or corporate topics. It can also be perfect for an urban travel related theme or educational presentation. You can choose to use photography as a background or with the buildings cut out from the sky. Another choice is to find an illustrated city skyline and use it as a border on the slides.

94  Use a connected dots background

One of the design trends of the last few years is the connected dots visual. It’s used on websites and on printed flyers. It’s so versatile that it can be added to any kind of presentation in a heartbeat. The lines can be short or long between the dots and the composition can be tight or spread out. You can find connected dot visuals easily on sites like Freepik, in lots of different colors. If you can manage vector graphics , you can also change the composition of the dots quite easily yourself.

use connected dots in the background creative presentation ideas

95  Use a bokeh background

Bokeh is a photography and light technique which turns dots of light into bright shiny spheres. With a bit of creativity, the lights can be turned into shapes, like hearts or stars. This design style is great for backgrounds since it’s mostly abstract. It works best as a complement to the content instead of an important visual aspect. You can find bokeh backgrounds in stock photo sites or make it yourself.

use a bokeh background creative presentation ideasv

96  Use watercolor designs

The use of watercolor designs is an easy way of infusing some lively color into a presentation. Watercolors can be a splash on the background, shapes around the content, or colorful strokes intertwined with text boxes. Depending on the color of the paint used, the watercolor technique can be used for any type of presentation. A soft watercolor brushed background can work for a feminine theme and a deep intense splash can add visual creativity to an otherwise boring corporate presentation.

use watercolor designs creative presentation ideas

Just like watercolor graphics, paint can add a dose of creativity to any presentation. Different to watercolors though, paint is more intense. Paint based graphics come in all shapes and sizes, from thick brush strokes to paint drips. Digital paint compositions can also make great backgrounds for colorful and creative presentations.

98  Use bright fun colors

Why create a bland presentation when you can make it fun and colorful instead? Creative color palettes can include up to six different colors which look great together. Use shapes, cut-outs, color blocks, swashes, anything your heart desires. This technique is for letting go and being creatively free with color. Just make sure the colors go together by trying out some palettes first.

99  Use arrow graphics

Arrows symbolize direction. They can be a great addition to your charts, infographic visuals and slide sections. You could even do the entire presentation using arrows. According to their size, color, and thickness, they have different temperaments. Look for different styles of arrows and see if they fit your topic and theme. Freepik has some great arrow visuals and the Visme editor also has arrow icons and infographic visuals.

use arrow graphics creative presentation ideas

100  Use electronic visuals

Another great idea for a background visual is the inside of a computer system. The intricate details of a motherboard or a close up of a memory chip can make a great visual impact. Apart from using an electronic background image, little pieces of electronic devices can be placed around the slide as decoration. This technique is generally limited to electronic or computer theme topics.

use electronic visuals creative presentation ideas

101  Metaphors

Visual metaphors can be useful in a similar manner. They can spice up your presentation, illustrate your point, and make your work far more entertaining. James Geary speaks about just how important metaphors are.

102  Keep it feminine

A feminine style design can work for your presentation if your company makes products for women or if your targeted audience is women. By feminine design, we mean light and soft colors, subtle shapes and a general airy feeling to the composition. Feminine design can be minimal but it can also be decadent and full of style. Whichever you chose, make sure it fits with your audience.

Feminine creative presentation ideas

103  Go futuristic

A futuristic style can fit any theme as long as the concept of the future depicted, fits the topic of the presentation. Futuristic design can be of many different styles; from spaceship driving controls to cosmos related atmospheres, to flying cars, and artificial intelligence. Even color palettes can look futuristic if you add some metallic tones.

Futuristic creative presentation ideas

104  Add a music background

A music soundtrack can be added to any presentation that doesn’t have any other sort of audio already. The best music for a presentation is one without lyrics, in other words, an instrumental track. A good track will accompany the content in a positive way and not interfere with the message. You can find audio tracks easily online.

105  Communicate with images

A picture can speak a thousand words. Naturally, they can be used to communicate concepts that, for the sake of space or time, you might not be able to include in the presentation itself. This slide deck  uses this strategy to its advantage.

The presentation includes many images as backgrounds and minimal text. The images used always either enhance what’s being said or, in some cases, provide the answer for viewers. For example, the second slide states “The Landscape Today,” and includes a bleak background with a broken, tilted picture frame, emphasizing the idea that the following slides (which describe the landscape) offer some pretty disheartening information.

Using images in a related fashion can help express your views and emphasize your message.

Harness the power of Visme's AI image edit tools in your toolkit. These advanced yet easy-to-use tools let you effortlessly edit, touch up, unblur and upscale your images using simple prompts. It's an incredibly convenient way to add extra polish and clarity to your pictures to make your presentations more impactful.

106  Include artsy data visualization

Data visualization is a way of showing data and information in a way that is visually expressive. Creative data analysts can make some really beautiful creations and you can hire them to make them for you. If you haven’t seen any creative data visualizations, take a look at our collection of the best of 2018 and get inspired. You can either make the whole presentation into a data viz or add them to some of the slides.

107  Stay branded

This creative tip is a simple yet effective way to spark good presentation ideas. When creating your presentation, do your best to stay on brand. This, of course, will work only if you are creating a presentation for your own brand. If creating one for a client, then you should stay on brand with their own brand style guide. This means only use the brand colors and fonts, use photos, textures, and shapes that match the brand.

Use Visme's brand design tool to ensure your presentations perfectly reflect your brand personality. Just copy and paste your website URL, and the tool will automatically extract your branding assets, such as brand colors, brand fonts and company logo.

108 Ask questions

A great tip to make your PowerPoint presentations ideas more interactive is to ask questions from your audience.  Like the example below, you can display only your question on the slide. Once the audience has pitched in their opinions and answers, you can click to reveal the actual answer. You can enable this type of interactivity on click when making a presentation in Visme .

109 Replace boring bullet points with visuals

While adding bullet points in your slides might be better than adding walls of text, they're still not the most effective way to get your message across and engage your audience. Take things up a notch and replace boring bullets with visuals, such as photos and even icons. Here's an example of how you can use icons to add a creative twist to the plain ol' bullet points.

110 Share your slide deck

Downloading your slide deck and presenting in front of an audience is not the only way to use your presentation. Make the most of your slides by sharing your presentation online.

You have three main pricing options with Visme. The Basic plan is free, but you’re limited in access to collaboration tools, assets, interactive, and AI features. The more comprehensive Starter plan costs $12.25 per month (billed annually), and equips you with Visme’s more premium tools. Finally, the Pro team plan sets you back $79/month for a team of 5 and lets you use Visme’s entire suite of interactivity and collaboration functions.

Here are a few vital pros and cons if you need help deciding whether Visme is right for you:

 • Vast selection of special effects
 • Ability to animate graphics on the slides
 • Simple file movement between different web-based apps
 • Free plan available
 • Free plans extremely limiting
 • No direct integration with Google or Microsoft slide tools

5. Powtoon — Best for slides with animation

presentation about website

 • Templates with configurable graphics and animation
 • Customizable fonts, colors, and logos
 • Access to stock images, videos, and soundtracks
 • Lite plan: $50/month ($15/month when billed annually)
 • Professional plan: $190/month ($40/month when billed annually)
 • Agency: $117/month (annual billing only)

Powtoon is a visual web-based content creation platform with tools for making videos, animations, and presentations. The app’s presentation function lets you build slides using professional templates, in which you’re free to customize the fonts, colors, logos, and graphics. You can even animate the graphics and build custom avatars to present on your behalf — it’s one of Powtoon’s unique selling features.

Powtoon’s suite of slide tools includes a database of royalty-free stock images, video footage, and music. You can use all of these assets in your slides, or upload your own as you see fit. However, how much of these shiny tools you can use in your slide decks depends on the chosen plan.

There are three pricing plans available, and the discrepancy between monthly and annual payments is striking. Most presentation sites charge a few dollars more if you opt for monthly instead of annual billing, but Powtoon’s monthly prices easily triple and quadruple. For example, the Lite plan costs $15/month with annual billing, but $50 if you wish to pay every month instead. You get very basic features with this plan, especially as far as animation and interactivity are concerned. Likewise, the Professional plan jumps from $40 to $190 if you choose monthly payments. You get a bit more for your buck, but some rudimentary features are still absent (like font uploads). Meanwhile, the Agency plan costs a whopping $1400 annually (no monthly option), and this plan gets you all of the app’s bells and whistles.

Not sure if investing in a product like Powtoon is worth it? Consider its pros and cons below:

 • Comprehensive animation and video creation features
 • Graphic and audio assets available with subscription
 • Fonts and logos can be uploaded
 • Most customization, animation, and AI features only come with the expensive Agency package
 • Monthly payment options are not reasonable

6. Haiku Deck — Best site for image editing options

presentation about website

 • Minimalistic interface
 • Graphic design tools for improving slide aesthetics
 • Pre-loaded templates and image assets
 • Cloud-based file sharing for team collaboration
 • AI presentation builder (Haiku Deck Zuru)
 • Pro plan: $9.99 per month billed annually, or $19.99 monthly
 • Premium plan: $29.99 per month, billed annually

Haiku Deck is a web, desktop, and mobile-based presentation builder with a significant focus on design aesthetics. The app’s design tools allow you to refine the graphics in the preloaded templates and images you’re using in the slides. You can source the images right from Haiku’s repository, which boasts over 40 million assets.

To help you create your slide decks, Haiku offers its AI assistant. The AI feature can create new presentations from your outline, or enhance your existing drafts. Since the AI learns from other Haiku users, its algorithms are now trained to outfit slides with contextually relevant imagery and graphics.

Haiku Deck’s pricing has two tiers: Pro and Premium. The Pro plan costs $9.99/month when billed annually and affords full access to the slide creation tools. Meanwhile, the Premium plan will set you back $29.99/month (again, billed annually), and equips you with features such as analytics, live web tracking, and priority support.

Here’s a summary of Haiku Deck’s most prominent pros and cons:

 • Visually appealing slides
 • Large database of graphic assets
 • Advanced tools for editing images
 • Capable AI-powered slide builder
 • No free plan
 • No integration with Google Slides or Microsoft PowerPoint

7. Zoho Show — Best presentation site for budget-minded users

presentation about website

 • Clean interface with tools changing depending on the task
 • Library for templates, slides, and fonts to facilitate team collaboration
 • Over 100 templates
 • Imports/exports PowerPoint files
 • Presentations can be controlled from smartphone or smart watch
 • For individuals: Free
 • Professional Plan: $2.50/month and up (billed annually)
 • With Zoho Workplace Standard: $3.00/month (billed annually)

Zoho is a web-based suite of business tools, and Zoho Show is its slide creation app. Zoho Show is a straightforward, inexpensive, yet fully functional slide maker that offers most of the same features you’ll get from pricier presentation sites. You can build your decks using over 100 preloaded templates, work on PowerPoint presentations before exporting them to their original file format, and run your slideshow from a smart device. Show’s most unique feature is its clean, contextual interface that only displays tools that are relevant to your current task (whether that’s handy or limiting depends on your preferences).

Zoho Show’s pricing has three tiers. First, there’s the Free plan. This package lets you build basic presentations, but you miss out on key collaboration features and have limited access to graphic assets. Next, you get the more comprehensive Professional Plan, which costs $2.50; you must sign up for Zoho WorkDrive and have a team of 3 people to get this plan. Finally, you can get the entire Zoho Workplace suite for $3/month — this option unlocks the full functionality of the Show app and lets you use other Zoho tools, such as their Office Suite, Mail, and Workdrive.

Have a look at Zoho Show’s pros and cons below to see if this presentation website is right for you:

 • Interface automatically shows tools relevant to the task
 • Ability to add custom fonts and embed files into slides
 • Templates, graphic assets, and collaboration tools included
 • Supports PowerPoint file formats
 • Subscription to Zoho Workdrive or Workplace required to access paid plan — unnecessary if all you need is a presentation tool
 • Some plans require a minimum of 3 users
 • Free individual plan limits use of graphic assets, templates, and collaboration tools
 • No direct integration with Google Slides

8. Pitch — Best presentation site for use in business and sales

presentation about website

 • Lets you build presentations with AI, from a template, or from scratch
 • Supports custom fonts and colors
 • Provides team collaboration tools
 • Allows you to embed presentations on the web
 • Offers engagement analytics tools
 • Pro plan: $25/month
 • Business: $100/month

Pitch is a web-based presentation maker designed primarily for business use. The app helps streamline slide deck creation with its AI tool, which generates a first draft based on your prompts and leaves your team with the task of refining the slides to your liking. The slides have shareable links, so your entire team can collaborate on the slide deck. You can even invite consultants from outside your workplace to edit the presentations.

Once your slide deck is complete, Pitch allows you to embed it on the web in your CMS — much like you’d do with a YouTube video. And to give you a feel for how audiences engage with your presentation, Pitch equips you with engagement and analytics performance tools.

There are three pricing options with Pitch. The free plan comes with all the presentation creation functions, but you get no tracking and limited collaboration tools. The Pro plan costs $25/month (or $22 per month when billed annually), and gives you more freedom to use Pitch in a team environment. Finally, the Business plan costs $100/month (or $85/month with yearly billing) and gives you access to the full suite of features.

Can’t decide if Pitch is the best presentation website for your team? Have a look at its most vital pros and cons:

 • AI slide creation feature
 • Performance analytics tools
 • Integration with various productivity and collaboration apps
 • Media asset library
 • Engagement tracking only available in paid plans
 • No integration with Google Slides or Microsoft 365

9. Beautiful.ai — Best site for no-frills AI-generated presentations

presentation about website

 • AI-powered presentation maker
 • Slide creation from user’s prompts
 • Automated slide formatting
 • File sharing within the team (requires Team Plan)
 • Graphic assets database
 • Pro: $144 per year
 • Team: $40/month per user with annual billing ($50 with monthly billing)
 • Enterprise: Pricing available on request

Beautiful.ai is an AI-powered presentation builder that leverages full automation to make slide creation quick and easy. All you need to do is enter a prompt for your slide deck, and beautiful.ai will generate your first draft. These AI-generated drafts are quite simplistic in terms of both content and graphics, but they serve as a good starting point. Moreover, beautiful.ai’s presentations are formatted consistently, which should save you time as you edit each slide.

You get three pricing options with beautiful.ai — Pro, Team, and Enterprise. The Pro package is meant for individual use, and costs $144 per year (there’s no way to pay monthly). The plan equips you with the AI slide maker but limits your use of assets and team collaboration features. The Pro plan costs $50/month for each user, or $480 annual for each license you purchase. This plan affords access to more customization and teamwork functions and lets you use graphic assets. Finally, the Enterprise plan includes all the features of the Pro plan, but with more dedicated training and support for your team. You’d have to reach out to beautiful.ai’s sales team to get a quote for the Enterprise plan.

Beautiful.ai helps create slides quickly and with little skill. However, if you’re not sure this app is right for you, consider its most vital pros and cons below.

 • Quick way to create and format slides
 • Inexpensive plan for personal use
 • Elegant slide templates
 • No integration with Google Slides or Microsoft 365
 • Slide content is very basic
 • Limited customization and branding options

10. Google Slides — Best for Google Workspace Users With Basic Presentation Needs

presentation about website

 • Basic presentation creation tool
 • Limited selection of templates, fonts, and colors
 • Supports import/export of PowerPoint files
 • Allows collaboration within the Google Workspace
 • Free with a Google account

Slides is the web-based presentation tool you get with your Google account. This rudimentary app features a limited library of templates, fonts, and colors, along with a basic suite of tools for formatting the text and graphics in your slides. You can insert your own image, video, and audio files into the slides, but there is no access to a library of royalty-free assets.

Despite its functional constraints, Google Slides is a useful app because it lets teams using Google Workspace collaborate easily on presentations. To get the most of Slides, though, you need to boost its functionality with a suitable extension. Google Gemini now works as an extension within the app, but for the $30 it costs you, the output is disappointing. All Gemini knows does is generate simple, low-quality images; it won’t help you produce, format, or edit presentations.

In contrast, an app like Plus AI leverages artificial intelligence algorithms to give Google Slides powers it lacks on its own. By using the Plus AI extension, you can create entire Slides presentations from a single prompt, automate slide editing and formatting, and access a rich library of templates and ready-made slide decks. Meanwhile, Plus AI’s customization features help you brand your presentations with custom fonts, colors, and your company logo.

Not sure if Google’s slide creation tool is right for you? Have a look at its pros and cons below.

 • Allows collaboration in the Google Workspace
 • Compatible with PowerPoint files
 • Supports AI-powered slide-creation extensions, such as Plus AI
 • Free to use with a Google account
 • Limited capabilities without third-party apps
 • No library with image, video, or audio assets

11. Microsoft PowerPoint — Best For Highly Skilled Presentation Designers

presentation about website

 • Vast library of slide themes, variants, and layouts
 • Database of stock images and videos
 • Massive array of slide editing, formatting, and customization tools
 • Supports collaboration in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem
 • As a standalone product: $159.99 (one-time fee)
 • With Microsoft 365 apps, for home use: $6.99-$9.99/month
 • With Microsoft 365 apps, for business use: $6.00-22.00/user/month

PowerPoint is one of the world’s oldest presentation builders that’s been part of Microsoft’s arsenal since the early 1990s. To this day, PowerPoint has been the most commonly used presentation app. But there’s a reason we’ve ranked it last on our list. Buoyed by its popularity, PowerPoint hasn’t evolved much over time; you won’t get anything beyond the most basic and uninspired presentations out of it unless you’re an advanced user with lots of time on your hands.

The app’s user interface immediately overwhelms you with options and settings. Some of these seem similar in how they function, and you won’t know which tool to use until you’ve experimented with them all. Apart from the cluttered interface, PowerPoint disappoints with its simplistic selection of templates and designs.

You can use Microsoft’s Copilot to forgo the tedious task of creating your own PowerPoint presentation, but beware: like Gemini, Copilot is still limited in its slide-making abilities. You can get it to create a slide deck from a single prompt, but the output will feature basic and repetitive along with lifeless images.

PowerPoint’s pricing is a bit convoluted at a glance — you get different options whether you want the standalone product ($159.99) or the entire Microsoft 365 suite. If you choose the latter, the Home options range in price between $6.99 and $9.99 per month, while the Business plans cost between $6.00 and $22.00 per month per user.

We don’t believe that PowerPoint is worth your time considering the vast selection of more powerful and user-friendly presentation apps on the market. However, you can review the app’s pros and cons below and decide for yourself.

 • Massive selection of design and customization tools
 • Integrates with Microsoft Copilot
 • Lets team members using Microsoft 365 work on the same presentation simultaneously
 • Overwhelming user interface
 • Very basic templates and designs
 • Creating professional presentations is a challenge for novice users
 • AI assistant cannot produce elegant, content-rich slide decks

How we ranked the best presentation sites

To make your selection process simple and effective, we ranked the best presentation websites based on these vital criteria:

 • Functionality
 • Level of AI sophistication
 • Ease of use
 • Collaboration options

Integration with popular slide creation tools

Value for money, functionality .

The best presentation sites are loaded with handy functions that enable you to make visually appealing, info-rich, and engaging presentations with little effort and minimal editing. These include customization tools, templates, image assets, and graphics refinement features.

Level of AI sophistication

AI technology is at the forefront of slide makers’ drive to create the best product for their clients. AI-powered presentation sites save you from spending long hours on writing content, digging up graphics, and then formatting every slide — AI handles these tasks for you. But not all AI slide creators are made equal. Some leave you with rudimentary decks that feature repetitive content and unrelated imagery. Others give you a solid starting point for an informative and captivating presentation.

Ease of use

The best presentation sites greet you with an intuitive and uncluttered interface that takes you minutes (if not seconds) to master. But usability goes beyond navigating the UI. That’s why we also assess the simplicity with which you can actually produce presentations. Simply put, how easy is it to create and edit slides? Do you need advanced design skills to manipulate the graphics and give the slide deck your desired aesthetic ? The best slide makers take these questions into account, so that their product makes presentations a breeze. You worry about the content, and let the app do the rest.

Collaboration options

High-quality presentation apps allow team members to create, edit, and give feedback on presentations remotely. That’s because today’s business needs, along with hybrid work arrangements, mean that more and more teams are forced to collaborate electronically. Features such as cloud-based file sharing and integration with communication platforms help different members of your team work on the presentation from wherever they are.

Google Slides and Microsoft PowerPoint are the most commonly used presentation programs in the world. These two giants are the natural, go-to option for slide creation in the corporate, educational, and institutional world. Any presentation app that’s worth its salt should integrate with at least one of these tools. At the very least, a quality independent slide app should be able to import and export files that can be used in Google Slides or PowerPoint.

The best presentation apps are usually not free, but the money you pay for them should be worth the features and benefits you get in return. That’s why we’ve evaluated each of the slide makers above based on the balance between their price point and their offerings.

How to choose the best presentation website for your needs?

You can’t really go wrong by opting for any of the 10 presentation sites above; however, to get a tool that’s tailored to your use-case, you’ll have to do a bit more research and analysis. The four steps below should help you zero in on the optimal presentation maker for your needs.

 • Consider the purpose of the presentation. Some slide tools cater to sales teams (think Pitch), others to graphic-minded users (Haiku Deck comes to mind), while others, like Plus AI, are excellent all-rounders.
 • Decide on the level of customization you need. How concerned are you with personalizing and branding your slide decks? If a generic, templated presentation is all you need for a school project, investing in a feature-rich, customizable tool may be overkill. But if you need your slide decks to feature custom colors, fonts, and convey your brand identity, opt for a tool (and pricing package) that has this functionality.
 • Decide if you want AI help. Unless you’re a skilled designer with a passion for creating and formatting slides, AI can be incredibly useful. Consider this: would you rather spend hours on refining your slides and ensuring consistency, or have the AI tool produce a uniformly formatted first draft? Check out the best AI presentation makers here.
 • Factor in your budget. Most presentation sites have similar pricing, with monthly plans ranging between $0 and $40. However, some charge more — much more. Of course, the higher price points generally translate into richer offerings that may include other apps for visual content creation. Consider whether you need these extras or if a capable slide creation tool will suffice.

He gives the example of leaves of absence, which Tilt software addresses. Customers may complain about inefficiency in their process, but the real issue is that leaves of absence are inherently unpredictable, and they aren’t equipped to handle that.

“So focus on the actual like problem, like the root of it, because they might think it‘s one thing, but actually, it’s another thing,” he says. “And when you do it well, you‘ll know because the message will just resonate with the audience because it’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, they get it.’”

More than 337,000 people visit Taylor Swift's link to register to vote

Taylor Swift on stage

Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for president may boost voter registration beyond Democrats’ " wildest dreams. "

The General Services Administration, which oversees the website, confirmed to NBC News that as of 2 p.m. ET Wednesday, 337,826 people had visited a custom URL that Swift posted on Instagram when she announced she was endorsing Harris.

The custom URL directs people to vote.gov, a website that helps visitors register to vote in their states. The site also breaks down Americans' voting rights, explains election processes and provides a road map to frequently asked questions.

Swift's Tuesday post , which has gotten more than 9.6 million likes, urged voters to do their own research and remember to register.

"I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice," she said. "Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story."

In a boost to the Harris campaign , Swift unveiled her endorsement to her massive Instagram following of 283 million accounts after the debate.

"I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them," she said in her post. "I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos."

Elevating Accessibility: Upgraded website and policy guidelines announced

Text says Accessibility at Clemson University and has a student wearing a backpack moving around campus

Clemson University remains committed to creating an accessible environment for all students, faculty and staff. As part of this commitment, experts across the University worked to build a new website to support accessibility at Clemson and a new policy to conform with federal updates to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Dan Lewis, director of digital accessibility, is grateful for the collaboration and excited about the impact these resources will have on the Clemson community and beyond.

Accessibility is everyone’s responsibility,” Lewis said. “We look forward to continuing to provide resources to support the Clemson community in creating an environment that is accessible to everyone, regardless of disability.”

Overview of Accessibility Website

Clemson University’s accessibility information had been housed on the “Accessibility Portal.” Already a tremendous resource offering helpful information and connecting people to accessibility resources, the new launch, Accessibility at Clemson University , further connects students, faculty and staff to programs, communities, resources and support – from accessible transportation options and information on service animals to guidance on authoring accessible PowerPoint presentations.

A sidewalk surrounded by green grass and trees on campus is empty.

Digital accessibility resources have been expanded, with guides to help employees create accessible electronic content. For Walker Massey, document accessibility specialist, this website upgrade is a tremendous advancement in resources and education for the campus community.

“Our goal in the writing and design of the digital accessibility section of this site was to create a collection of easy-to-navigate guides where technical specifications apply to various authoring tools in a relatable, conversational tone,” Massey said. “We hope this site offers you support and guidance as you create accessible digital content.”

For faculty members like Clare Mullaney, assistant professor of English, this website’s resources are crucial as faculty consider how students access course material and they design their courses.

“Clemson’s new accessibility website makes a statement about the importance disability plays in academic life. Rather than an exception, it’s framed as central to the way faculty might design courses,” said Mullaney. “Thinking creatively, together, about the many ways students might access course material is the very best that thinking and learning can do.”

Overview of Digital Accessibility Policy

Beyond the Accessibility website, the digital accessibility policy seeks to ensure Clemson’s online spaces are places where all community members – acknowledging different needs and experiences – can share and receive meaningful contributions. This policy applies to all University employees who create, design, purchase, implement or develop communications and technology used for academic and business content.

Staff and faculty are encouraged to review accessibility best practices and follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Examples of how these guidelines are met include:

 • Providing captions for videos
 • Adding descriptive alternative text (“alt text”) for images
 • Ensuring documents, textbooks and assignment systems are accessible to all students
 • Using software that is compatible with keyboard navigation and assistive technologies

Monique Everroad, director of policy initiatives in the Office of University Ethics and Compliance, says the policy and online resources are vital for the campus community.

In addition to complying with federal regulation, this policy supports a proactive mindset,” Everroad said. “Making things accessible opens the opportunity for everyone to equitably engage in school and work. The Accessibility Team did a tremendous job taking the guesswork out of how to comply with this policy through the tools and resources provided on the new Accessibility website.”

What’s next?

Members of the Clemson community are encouraged to explore Accessibility at Clemson University to learn how to ensure course files, documents, and information technology are accessible. As always, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to report accessibility barriers . For support and more information, contact the Digital Accessibility Team . Clemson’s policy and supportive website demonstrate the institution’s commitment to elevating the student experience and improving lives within the Clemson community throughout the state of South Carolina and beyond.

Served By Sara: Seattle woman sparks community movement with urban hiking club

(Image provided by Sara Anfuso){ }

Looking to add more fresh air and fellowship to your routine? A Seattle woman has started a whole movement to get people moving and connecting.

Sara Anfuso is an avid urban hiker and the creator of Out and About Community Walk Club .

She began sharing about her long-distance city walks on her Instagram page, Served By Sara . The posts started getting traction and people would reach out to see if they could join her. So in January 2024, Sara decided to host a community walk.

"I was just doing something I really loved."

She figured maybe 20 people would join her first walk, but 70-80 people showed up! The concept was a hit and served as a way for the community to gather and explore Seattle by foot.

Since then, Sara started hosting up to three walks every month, now with hundreds of fellow urban hikers. She says folks from all walks of life join in, and are generally looking to meet new people.

"The walk community has become a safe space for people who don't have a community," Sara says, adding that it allows you to "dive deep into topics that you wouldn't otherwise because you don't have enough time."

It's also a great way to soak in your surroundings. Sara points out that when you travel by car, you tend to take the same route and can miss delightful details.

Sara usually walks 10-15 miles on her own long-distance walks, but her Out and About Community Walks are typically three to four miles. Participants can opt out of the walk at any point - there's no requirement to complete the whole walk if you decide to stop early.

Most walks are free, though some sponsored walks require a ticket.

If you're new to Seattle and unsure about attending a walk, rest assured that there will be others like you at each walk. Sara says there's always a first-timer in the mix, so you won't be alone!

Feeling inspired to do your own long-distance walking and wondering where to go? Some of Sara's favorite places to walk include the Arboretum, the Montlake area, the 520 bridge, Kirkland, Ballard Locks to Golden Gardens, Greenlake, and the Seattle ferry terminal for a day trip to Bainbridge Island.

If you're curious to try solo urban hiking, Sara shares these safety pointers:

 • Walk in familiar areas
 • Share your location with people you trust (and check in when get home!)
 • Get a good pair of shoes
 • Find a good podcast to listen to (Sara says she stays more alert when listening to podcasts instead of music)
 • Don't use noise-canceling headphones

As long as it’s inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog (and his pals) we want to see it!  Any art medium can be used, but the more creative, the better.

The artwork must be the participant's own, and we can’t accept any entries that use images taken from films, online or AI. To enter, send the artwork on a landscape A4 piece of paper. We encourage entries from individuals, as well as school groups. To enter, send the artwork on a landscape A4 piece of paper.

Design top tips

As the design will become the official Black Card for the film, please ensure children leave a space for the age rating symbol, film title and BBFC content advice. We will add other important information (the signatures of our CEO and President,in the other important information (the signatures of our CEO and President who approve each decision, the film's unique code, and our BBFC logo).

 • Bright, colourful designs that fill the box will produce the best results
 • Any medium can be used: felt tip, crayon, paint inks etc. Colouring pencils can be used, but they don’t tend to show up the best on the big screen, so we recommend using pens instead
 • No glitter
 • If creating a collage, please do not make the sheet thicker than two pieces of paper.
 • Please don't fold the artwork, use staples or sellotape
 • Avoid metallic finishes over large areas
 • Most importantly, make sure the design is inspired by the Sonic the Hedgehog universe

See the previous winning designs for Puss In Boots: The Last Wish , Jurassic World: Dominion   and Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil  for inspiration.

Our CEO, David Austin, and our President, Natasha Kaplinsky, will choose the winning design. We’re also delighted to have some special guests from Paramount Pictures UK co-judging the competition and sitting on the panel.

The entries will be judged on creativity, originality, and innovation so make sure designs channel Sonic the Hedgehog's energy and reflect the world of the Sonic the Hedgehog Universe.

Not only will the winner see their Black Card on the big screen in front of every UK cinema screening of the film. They will also receive a BBFC goody bag, along with some film merchandise. They will also need to be available on Tuesday 10 December to come to London and be part of a special winner’s day experience (all expenses covered).
