Producers of Yuvraj Singh biopic

Kumar has produced movies like Animal , Srikanth , and Drishyam 2 . According to him, the film will highlight the incredible accomplishments of the legendary cricketer.

Bhagchandka, who calls himself an “Ex Struggling Cricketer”, has produced Sachin: A Billion Dreams . His next is Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par , based on the 2018 Spanish film Champions .

Bhagchandka says Yuvraj has been his close friend for many years. He thanked Yuvi for trusting them to turn his remarkable cricket career into a film.

An upcoming biographical movie will chronicle the inspiring journey of former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh , the makers announced on Tuesday, August 20.

The yet-to-be-titled biopic will be produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and co-produced by Ravi Bhagchandka, known for Sachin: A Billion Dreams and the upcoming Aamir Khan-starrer Sitaare Zameen Par.

The film is touted as a "grand celebration of Singh’s unparalleled journey and contributions to cricket, capturing the essence of his career, unforgettable six sixes in the 2007 T20 World Cup, his courageous off-field battles and his subsequent return to cricket in 2012", a press release said.

Singh, who began his career at the age of 13, said he is hoping his life story will inspire people to overcome challenges.

“I’m deeply honoured that my story will be showcased to millions of my fans across the globe by Bhushan and Ravi. Cricket has been my greatest love and source of strength through all the highs and lows. I hope this film inspires others to overcome their own challenges and pursue their dreams with unwavering passion,” the former India all-rounder said.

Kumar, known for backing blockbuster films such as Drishyam 2, Animal, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Kabir Singh and Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior , said he is excited to bring out the inspiring journey of Singh on the big screen.

“Yuvraj Singh’s life is a compelling narrative of resilience, triumph, and passion. His journey from a promising cricketer to a cricketing hero, and then to a hero in real life, is truly inspiring.

"I’m thrilled to bring a story that needs to be told and heard through the big screen and to celebrate his extraordinary achievements,” he said.

The makers are yet to announce the key details about the film, including the director and cast.

Yuvraj Singh: T-Series Films announce an upcoming movie based on life of the cricketer

MUMBAI: This year started with a bang and now with more than half the year over, we are once again getting a line-up of movies that has built up a lot of attention and expectation since the time they were announced. Hence, fans of both South Indian cinema and Hindi cinema are eagerly waiting for what's coming up.

He is known for his record of six 6s in an over and for riding victorious in his fight against cancer. Now, fans of Yuvraj Singh and cricket in general will get to know his story of struggle, what all he went through and how he won against cancer.

According to the post, the movie is going to be a theatrical release and not an OTT release. While it is revealed that the biography will be made based on Yuvraj Singh's life story, it will be worth knowing who will play Yuvraj Singh's character and who will be directing the movie.

Earlier this year, we witnessed Srikanth where Rajkummar Rao gave a really great performance. The movie is based on life of Srikanth Bolla, a visually impaired industrialist who rise to the challenges in his life and became an example.

Yuvraj Singh's biopic announced. Here are other must-watch biopics on Indian cricketers

The yet-to-be-titled biopic will be produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series

Yuvraj Singh is one of the greatest all-rounders Indian cricket has produced. That the Indian team has struggled to find a permanent replacement for him at no. 4 position in the batting order even after all these years—he retired from ODIs in 2017—speaks volumes about his talent. Not to forget how he inspired India to the ODI World Cup victory in 2011, winning the player-of-the-tournament award in the process, while struggling with cancer.

It's only fitting that a film is made on the eventful and amazing journey of the star cricketer, and Bhushan Kumar's T-Series has taken it upon themselves to produce the biopic.

The yet-to-be-titled film will be co-produced by Ravi Bhagchandka, of Sachin: A Billion Dreams and (upcoming Aamir Khan's film) Sitaare Zameen Par fame.

A press release said the film will be a "grand celebration of Singh's unparalleled journey and contributions to cricket, capturing the essence of his career, unforgettable six sixes in the 2007 T20 World Cup, his courageous off-field battles and his subsequent return to cricket in 2012".

Yuvraj Singh said he was “deeply honoured” that people across the globe will get to see his story. “Cricket has been my greatest love and source of strength through all the highs and lows. I hope this film inspires others to overcome their own challenges and pursue their dreams with unwavering passion.”

Yuvraj Singh played 40 Tests, scoring 1,900 runs and taking nine wickets. But, he was a different beast in white-ball cricket, especially ODIs. In 304 one-day internationals, he accumulated 8,701 runs at an average of 36.55, and took 111 wickets.

The details of the film, including the director and the cast, are yet to be announced. However, it will be a good time to check out these biopics on Indian cricketers:

M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story

It was based on the life of former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and was released in 2016 while he was still an active player. Late Sushant Singh Rajput reprised the role of the World Cup-winning Indian skipper, and the Neeraj Pandey film proved to be a blockbuster.

The same year saw the release of another biopic of another former Indian skipper Mohammed Azharuddin, with Emraan Hashmi portraying the lead role. The film, directed by Tony D'Souza and Anthony D'Souza, also threw light on the match-fixing scandal that rocked Indian cricket in 2000. Azhar got mixed reviews from critics and audience alike.

Shabaash Mithu

The film traced the journey of one of India's greatest woman cricketers—Mithali Raj. The 2022 flick was directed by Srijit Mukherjee, and had Taapsee Pannu reprising the role of Raj. The film failed to make much of an impact, despite a fine performance from Pannu.

Kaun Pravin Tambe?

Talk of late bloomers! Leg-spinner Pravin Tambe made his IPL debut at 41—at an age when most players would have retired. He played tennis-ball and club cricket for almost decades before being picked up by Rajasthan Royals. He went on to play first-class cricket for Mumbai. Jayprad Desai directed the charming 2022 film, which showcased Tambe's incredible journey. Shreyas Talpade portrayed the leggie on screen.

A couple of other must-watch flicks are the documetary, Sachin: A Billion Dreams (2017), and the film, 83 (2021), which is based on India's famous 1983 World Cup win.

Yuvraj Singh’s Biopic Has Been Finalised

Biopics on sports personalities, especially cricketers, have become a formula of success in Bollywood. Biopics like ‘Dhoni’ and ’83’ based on the life of former Indian skippers MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev have done mighty well at the Box-Office. A video of former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh has been making rounds on the internet, where he revealed his plans of making a biopic on his son Yuvraj Singh , who is hailed as one of the finest white-ball cricketers to have ever played for the Indian cricket team. 

Yograj Singh Revealed His Plans For Yuvi’s Biopic

In a conversation with one of the renowned news portals, Yograj Singh revealed that the biopic of his son Yuvraj has been in the pre-production phase. He revealed that the makers of the movie are pitching to create the film at the Hollywood level. Many ace directors and South filmmakers will be putting their paws on the film. Not only this, it will be released in almost every language and will be a pan-India movie.

The movie is expected to go on the floors this year, that is 2023, as disclosed by Yograj Singh. Yograj also wants to elevate the father-son relationship between Yograj Singh and Yuvraj Singh to the status of being the greatest of all time.

Inspiring Journey Of Yuvraj Singh:

One of the most dangerous left-handed batters to ever represent India, Yuvraj was involved in several iconic and memorable wins for the Indian cricket team. Born in Chandigarh, Yuvraj soon made a name for himself in the domestic arena. He was also named player of the tournament during the 2000 Under-19 World Cup won by team India. 

In 2002, Yuvi played one of the finest knocks under pressure against the England cricket team during a series decider at Lords to announce his arrival at the biggest stage. He smashed 69 off 63 balls and helped his side to a famous series victory on English soil. In the 2007 T20 World Cup, Yuvraj stitched history after he smashed Stuart Broad for six-sixes in an over and helped team India to win that game. Team India also went on to win that inaugural T20 World Cup. 

However, Yuvraj Singh’s best performance came during the 2011 World Cup when he was also adjudged player of the tournament. He played a crucial role in India’s success in the tournament. Later, it came to know that the star batter was battling a cancerous tumor in his left lung while he was playing in the World Cup tournament. After getting diagnosed with the disease, he underwent chemotherapy in Boston and made a comeback to the Indian side.

Following this, Sachin: A Billion Dreams, a biopic about the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, was released. Despite Sachin's god-like status in India, the film failed to make a significant impact at the box office.  Later, 83, starring Ranveer Singh, which chronicled India's historic win in the 1983 Cricket World Cup and highlighted the achievements of Kapil Dev, was released. Unfortunately, despite its grand premise, the film turned out to be one of the biggest box office failures in recent times.
