అలుపులేకుండా వరసపెట్టి సినిమాలు చేస్తున్న మెగాస్టార్‌ చిరంజీవి, ధమాకాతో ఈ మధ్యనే హిట్ కొట్టిన రవితేజ కలిసి వాల్తేర్ వీరయ్యతో ముందుకొచ్చారు. మొదటి నుంచి వింటేజ్ చిరంజీవిని చూస్తారు అని చెప్తున్నారు కనుక కొత్తదనం కంటే పాతదనమే ఎక్కువుంటుందని ఆడియన్స్ ని ప్రిపేర్ చేసారు. బాస్ పార్టీ పాట, ట్రైలర్ మొదలైనవి జనంలోకి బాగా వెళ్లడం వల్ల ఎంత వింటేజ్ అని చెప్పినా ఎంతో కొంత కొత్తదనమో, బాగా గ్రిప్పింగ్ గా ఉండే తెలివైన కథనమో ఉంటుందని అంచనాలు పెట్టుకుని ప్రేక్షకులు హాలుకు వెళ్లడం సహజం. ఇంతకీ ఇందులో ఏముందంటే…

సముద్రంలో చేపలు పట్టుకునే గంగపుత్రుడు వీరయ్య. ముఠామేస్త్రి టైపులో అతనికంటూ జాలరిపేటలో ఒక ఫాలోయింగుంటుంది. పైగా అతని మాటంటే భయపడే గూండాలు కూడా ఉంటారు. 

ఇదిలా ఉంటే ఒక అంతర్జాతీయ డాన్ (బాబి సింహ) ని పట్టుకుంటారు రా ఏజెంట్లు. అతను కొంతమంది పోలీసుల్ని చంపి తప్పించుకుంటాడు. అతన్ని మలేషియా వెళ్లి వెతికి పట్టుకోవడానికి ఒక ఇన్స్పెక్టర్ (రాజేంద్ర ప్రసాద్) ఈ వాల్తేర్ వీరయ్య సాయం కోరతాడు. ఇంతకీ వీరయ్య అండ్ కో అతనిని పట్టుకుంటారా? ఆ క్రమంలో వారికి ఎదురైన చాలెంజెస్ ఏవిటి? అది ప్రధాన కథ. ఈ కథలోకి శ్రుతి హాసన్, రవితేజ, ప్రకాష్ రాజ్ ఎలా వస్తారు అనేది ఇక్కడ వివరించట్లేదు. 

చిరంజీవంటే మాస్ సినిమాలకి కేరాఫ్ అడ్రస్. డ్యాన్సులు, సటిల్ కామెడీ, లైటర్ వీన్ లో సన్నివేశాలు..ఇవన్నీ అలనాటి చిరంజీవి సినిమాల్లో కామన్. ఇప్పుడు అవే పదార్థాలతో ఈ వాల్తేర్ వీరయ్య ని వండారు. అయితే అప్పట్లోలాగ చిరంజీవి సిగ్నేచర్ స్టెప్స్ తో కూడిన కాంప్లికేటెడ్ డ్యాన్సులు వేయలేకపోయినా ఉన్నంతలో తన పద్ధతిలో డ్యాన్సులు చేసే ప్రయత్నమైతే చేస్తున్నారు. అయితే ప్రభుదేవ, రాఘవలారెన్స్ కాలంలో చిరంజీవి నుంచి అద్భుతమైన స్టెప్స్ వచ్చేవి. ఖైది150లో కూడా సింపుల్ బట్ గ్రేస్ఫుల్ స్టెప్స్ కనిపించాయి. కానీ ఇక్కడ ఎందుకో గుర్తుంచుకునేలాంటి స్టెప్స్ పడలేదు. బాస్ పార్టీ సాంగులో కూడా ముఠామేస్త్రి లో “ఈ పేటకు నేనే మేస్త్రి” పాటలోని పాపులర్ స్టెప్పునే మళ్లీ వాడడం జరిగింది. 

అది పక్కన పెడితే ఈ సినిమాకి హైలైట్ మ్యూజిక్. దేవిశ్రీపసాద్ తన ట్యాలెంటంతా ధారపోసాడు. ప్రకాష్ రాజ్ పాత్రకి ఇచ్చిన బీజీయం బాగా ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది. బాస్ పార్టీ, పూనకాలు లోడింగ్ పాటలు పక్కా డ్యాన్స్ నెంబర్స్. అయితే వీటిల్లో లిరిక్స్ స్పష్టంగా వినపడవు. “శ్రీదేవి చిరంజీవి” పాట గుర్తుండేలా హాంట్ చేస్తుంది లిరికల్ గా కూడా. “నీకేమో అందమెక్కువ” మాత్రం తేలిపోయింది. లిరిక్స్ పెద్ద ఆకట్టుకునేలా లేవు.  

కెమెరా వర్క్ చాలా రిచ్ గా ఉంది. ఎడిటింగ్ ఇంకాస్త మెరుగ్గా పని చేసి ఉండాల్సింది. 2:40 నిమిషాల నిడివిలో కనీసం 10 నిమిషాలైనా తగ్గించి ఉండాల్సింది. 

సంభాషణలు సందర్భోచితంగా బాగున్నాయి. అతిగా పంచ్ డైలాగులు, బిల్డప్ లైన్లు పెట్టలేదు. “డోంట్ ఫియర్, ఐ ఇంటర్ ఫియర్”, “వాయిదా..ఫాయిదా” వంటి ప్రాసలు డైలాగుల్లో దొర్లాయి. అయితే రవితేజ ఎందుకో మొదట్లో సీమ యాసలో మాట్లాడి తర్వాత తెలంగాణా మాండలికానికి షిఫ్ట్ అయ్యాడు. ఇదెందుకో అర్థం కాదు. 

అయితే చిరంజీవి పాత్రకి వెర్టిగో పెట్టడం, అలాగే గన్ చూపించగానే భయపడడం లాంటి వీక్నెస్సులు పెట్టి హీరో అనగానే మానవాతీత శక్తి అనిపించకుండా జాగ్రత్తపడ్డాడు దర్శకుడు. ఈ మాత్రం వీక్నెస్సులు లేకపోతే కామన్ మ్యాన్ కి హీరో పాత్రతో ట్రావెల్ చేయడం కష్టం. అయితే ఆ వెర్టిగో అంశాన్ని కథలో కీలకమైన ఎమోషనల్ సీన్లో వాడుకున్న తీరు కూడా బాగుంది. 

ఇంత చెప్పినా మళ్లీ సత్యరాజ్-చిరంజీవి మధ్యన రాసుకున్న మందు తాగే సీన్ నిజంగా మందుకొట్టి రాసుకున్నదా అని అనుమానమొస్తుంది. అంత చిరాకుకా ఉందది. 

ప్రధమార్థమంతా చిరంజీవి మీదే నడిచి ఆసక్తికరమైన ఇంటర్వల్ బ్యాంగ్ తో ముగుస్తుంది. ద్వితీయార్థంలో రవితేజ కలవడంతో కాస్త షేడ్ మారి ఆసక్తికరమైన ట్విస్టులు, వగైరాలు ఉంటాయి. అఫ్కోర్స్ అవి కూడా వింటేజ్ స్టైల్లోనే. 

చిరంజీవి నటన గురించి విమర్శించడానికేం లేదు. తనదైన శైలిలో, ఫ్యాన్స్ తననుంచి ఏది ఆశిస్తారో అది ఇచ్చినట్టుంది. చిరంజీవి సోషల్ మీడియాలో వైరల్ అయిన “జంబలకిడి జారు మిటాయ”, ఫ్రస్ట్రేటడ్ జర్నలిస్టు” డైలాగ్ తన స్టైల్లో పర్ఫార్మ్ చేయడం బాగుంది. 

శ్రుతి హాసన్ కూడా డబుల్ షేడ్ లో బాగా చేసింది. శ్రుతి పాత్రలోని సర్ప్రైజ్ ఎలిమెంట్ ని “క్రాక్” లో గోపీచంద్ మలినేని ఎలా ఆవిష్కరించాడో ఇక్కడ దర్శకుడు బాబీకూడా అలాగే ఆవిష్కరించాడు. 

రాజేంద్ర ప్రసాద్, వెన్నెల కిషోర్ పాత్రలు ఓకే. సత్యరాజ్ గెస్ట్ పాత్రలో కాసేపు కనిపించాడు. ప్రకాష్ రాజ్ విలనీ మాత్రం బాగానే పండించాడు. బాబీ సింహా తొలి సగంలో పర్వాలేదనిపిస్తాడు. జాన్ విజయ్, రాజేంద్రన్ కూడా కాస్త స్క్రీన్ ప్రెజెన్స్ పొందారు. ఊర్వశి రౌతేలా ఐటం సాంగ్ కి ప‌రిమితం. వీళ్లు కాక ఈ సినిమాలో సుబ్బరాజు, ప్రభాస్ శీను, నాజర్, శ్రీనివాసరెడ్డి, శకలక శంకర్, ప్రదీప్ రావత్, సప్తగిరి, కమెడియన్ ప్రవీణ్ తదితరులు ఎందరో ఉన్నారు. కానీ ఎవ్వరినీ సరిగ్గా వాడలేదు. మరీ జూనియర్, ప్యాడింగ్ ఆర్టిస్టులకన్నా దారుణంగా ఉంది వీరి పరిస్థితి. 

కథనం మొత్తాన్ని హీరో సెంట్రిక్ గా నడపడం తప్పులేదు. కానీ సీన్లన్నీ హీరో సెంట్రిక్ అనుకుంటే ఏ ఇతర ఆర్టిస్టుకి మాత్రం న్యాయం జరుగుతుంది? కమెడియన్స్ ని కామెడీ చెయ్యనీయకుండా అంతా చిరంజీవి భుజాలపైనే వేసేయడం సరైన పని కాదు. మిగిలిన నటులకి ప్రాధాన్యమిచ్చినంత మాత్రాన చిరంజీవి స్టార్ ఇమేజేమీ తగ్గిపోదు. 

రవిజేజ పాత్ర సెకండాఫులో వచ్చి క్లైమాక్స్ ముందు వరకు ఉంటుంది. ఆమె భార్యగా క్యాథెరీన్ కాసేపు కనిపిస్తుంది. బ్రదర్ సెంటిమెంటుని చివర్లో బాగానే నడిపారు. 

తలలు నరకడాలు గట్రా ఉన్నా కూడా సినిమాని లైటర్ వీన్లో డీల్ చేయడం వల్ల అవి మరీ ఘోరంగా అనిపించలేదు. పండగ సీజన్లో టైం పాస్ చేయడానికి “వాల్తేర్ వీరయ్య” ఓకే. అయితే అలనాటి చిరంజీవిని చూడడానికి ఆసక్తున్నవారికి తప్ప అన్ని వర్గాల ఆడియన్స్ కి కనెక్ట్ కాకపోవచ్చు.

Waltair Veerayya Movie:  మెగాస్టార్ చిరంజీవి రీ ఎంట్రీ ఇచ్చిన దగ్గర నుంచీ తన ప్రతి చిత్రంలో ఇతర హీరోలతో కలసి నటిస్తూ సాగుతున్నారు. ‘ఖైదీ నంబర్ 150’లో తనయుడు రామ్ చరణ్ తో కాసేపు స్క్రీన్ పంచుకున్న చిరంజీవి, ఆ తరువాత అమితాబ్ బచ్చన్, కిచ్చా సుదీప్, విజయ్ సేతుపతి వంటివారితో జోడీ కట్టి ‘సైరా…నరసింహారెడ్డి’లో అలరించారు. మొన్న ‘ఆచార్య’లో తనయుడు రామ్ చరణ్ తోనూ, తరువాత ‘గాడ్ ఫాదర్’లో సల్మాన్ ఖాన్ తోనూ సాగారు. ఇప్పుడు ‘వాల్తేరు వీరయ్య’లో రవితేజతో కలసి నటించారు. రీఎంట్రీ తర్వాత సంక్రాంతి బరిలోనే ‘ఖైదీ నంబర్ 150’గా అలరించిన చిరంజీవి ఈ సారి పొంగల్ హంగామాలో ‘వాల్తేరు వీరయ్య’గా రావడంతో అభిమానుల్లో అంచనాలు అధికమయ్యాయి.

‘వాల్తేరు వీరయ్య’ కథ విషయానికి వస్తే… జాలారి పేటలో ఉండే వాల్తేరు వీరయ్య మాటంటే అక్కడి వారికి వేదవాక్కు. కానీ, అతనికే తెలియకుండా కొందరు సముద్రపు ఒడ్డున డ్రగ్స్ సరఫరా చేస్తూంటారు. ఈ విషయం తెలుసుకున్న ఏసీపీ విక్రమ్ సాగర్ జాలరి పేటకు వెళ్ళి డ్రగ్స్ దందా చేసేవారిని అరెస్ట్ చేస్తాడు. అడ్డు వచ్చిన వీరయ్యనూ పట్టుకుపోతాడు విక్రమ్. నిజానికి వీరయ్య, విక్రమ్ ఇద్దరూ ఒకే తండ్రి బిడ్డలు, తల్లులు వేరు. ఒకరికొరంటే అభిమానం ఉన్నా, తమ పరిస్థితుల కారణంగా దానిని బహిర్గతం చేయరు. ఈ డ్రగ్స్ దందాకు సాలమోన్ సీజర్ ముఖ్య సూత్రధారి. వీరయ్య కటకటాల వెనుక ఉన్న సమయంలో విక్రమ్ దుండగుల చేతుల్లో మరణిస్తాడు. తమ్ముడు చనిపోవడానికి అసలు కారకుడైన ప్రకాశ్ రాజ్ మలేసియా ఉన్నాడని తెలుసుకొని వీరయ్య అక్కడకు వెళ్తాడు. ఆ తరువాత ఏం జరిగింది అన్నదే కథ.

ప్రథమార్ధం చిరంజీవి ఎంటర్ టైన్ మెంట్ తో భళా అనిపించింది. ఆ తరువాత బ్రదర్ సెంటిమెంట్ తో ఆకట్టుకున్నారు. రవితేజ పాత్ర నిడివి తక్కువే అయినా తన ఎపిసోడ్ మొత్తం ఆసక్తికరంగా ఉంది. ఇక శ్రుతి హాసన్ సీబీఐ ఆఫీసర్ గా వైవిధ్యం చూపించే ప్రయత్నం చేశారు. మిగిలిన తారాగణమంతా తమ పాత్రలకు తగ్గట్టుగానే సాగారు. చిరంజీవి సినిమా అంటే దేవిశ్రీ ప్రసాద్ ప్రత్యేక శ్రద్ధ వహించి ట్యూన్స్ కంపోజ్ చేస్తారనే ప్రచారం ఉంది. అందుకు తగ్గట్టుగానే దేవిశ్రీ ఇందులోనూ బాణీలు కట్టారు. “బాస్ పార్టీ…” , “పూనకాలు లోడింగ్…” పాటలు నిజంగానే కిర్రెక్కించాయి. “నువ్వే శ్రీదేవైతే…నేనే చిరంజీవంటా…”, “నీకేమో అందమెక్కువ…” పాటలు కూడా ఆకట్టుకుంటాయి. ఆర్ట్ డైరెక్టర్ ఏ.యస్. ప్రకాశ్ రూపొందించిన సెట్స్ కనువిందు చేశాయి. దర్శకుడు కె.రవీంద్ర (బాబీ) కథలో పాత సినిమా పోకడలు కొన్ని కనిపిస్తాయి. సన్నివేశాల చిత్రీకరణలో బాబీ పట్టు చూపించారనే చెప్పాలి. నిర్మాతలు నవీన్ యెర్నేని, వై.రవిశంకర్ కథకు తగ్గ రీతిలో ఖర్చు చేశారు.

Waltair Veerayya movie review: Finally a Chiranjeevi film the audience will love despite its predictable story

Waltair veerayya movie review: chiranjeevi’s old-school charm salvages this predictable revenge drama. the telugu film also stars ravi teja, shruti haasan, bobby simhaa and rajendra prasad..

Ever since his return to acting in 2017 after a hiatus, Chiranjeevi has been struggling to find the right project that has really worked for him. Despite experimenting with films like Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy and Godfather, audiences haven’t been able to see vintage Chiranjeevi in full form. Filmmaker Bobby Kolli gives audiences just what they’ve been expecting from Chiranjeevi for the longest time – a project that can entertain on all fronts and extract the best out of him. Waltair Veerayya is Bobby’s fan service to Chiranjeevi’s stardom and it has the star in his element, doing pretty much everything he’s expected to. The film opens with the introduction of the infamous drug peddler Solomon Caesar (Bobby Simha) escaping from the clutches of RAW agents in a village in Andhra Pradesh. After wreaking havoc on the RAW agents and local policemen, Solomon flees to Malaysia. Rajendra Prasad, who plays a police inspector, is desperate to capture Solomon and bring him back to India to make him pay for his crimes. Unfortunately, Prasad has no support from anyone so he seeks the help of Waltair Veerayya (Chiranjeevi), a local fisherman who’s into smuggling, to help him bring Solomon back to India. In Malaysia, the tables are turned for Prasad, when Veerayya and Solomon join forces. What follows forms the rest of the story.

It is after a long time we see that Chiranjeevi truly had a blast playing a character. This is an uninhibited performance and he brings out all the old-school charm that made Chiranjeevi what he is today. The plot is as old as the mountain but what makes Waltair Veerayya somewhat refreshing is that the film doesn’t try to glorify Chiranjeevi’s character. Instead, it allows him to get under the skin of his character and have so much fun. The film really portrays Chiranjeevi in the most crowd-pleasing fashion in a really long time. There are some films you watch for the story and there are some you just watch hoping to see your favourite star shine amidst all other things. Waltair Veerayya is the kind of film that falls in the second category and it’s perfectly fine being that way as it lives up to the expectations.

The inclusion of Ravi Teja in a crucial role gives the film a lot of weightage. Scenes between Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja make for some of the best moments of the film. Bobby’s intention of delivering an out-and-out enjoyable commercial film with Waltair Veerayya works to a large extent, even when the predictability factor creeps in when you’re least expecting. The action sequences really serve as the film’s high moments and they deliver the thrills in a big way. These scenes do go overboard on multiple occasions but still work given the film’s massive scale.

“గాడ్ ఫాదర్”, “ఆచార్య”ను మరిచిపోయేలా చేసిన చిరంజీవి టైటిల్ పాత్రలో తెరకెక్కిన యాక్షన్ ఎంటర్ టైనర్ “వాల్తేరు వీరయ్య”. 2000 సంవత్సరంలో వచ్చిన “అన్నయ్య” తర్వాత చిరంజీవి-రవితేజ కలిసి నటించిన ఈ చిత్రంపై భారీ అంచనాలున్నాయి. ట్రైలర్ కూడా ఆ అంచనాలను ఇంకాస్త పెంచింది. మరి సినిమా పరిస్థితి ఏంటో చూద్దాం..!!

కథ: వైజాగ్ లోని జాలర్ల పేటలో ఉంటూ తన చుట్టూ ఉన్నవాళ్లకు సహాయం చేస్తూ ఉంటాడు వీరయ్య అలియాస్ వాల్తేరు వీరయ్య (చిరంజీవి). సోలోమన్ (బాబీసింహా) అనే డ్రగ్ మాఫియా లీడర్ ను పట్టుకోవడం కోసం సహాయం చేయమని ఇన్స్పెక్టర్ (రాజేంద్రప్రసాద్) కోరడంతో మలేసియా వెళతాడు.

కట్ చేస్తే.. వీరయ్య మలేసియా వచ్చింది ఇన్స్పెక్టర్ కోసం సోలోమన్ ను పట్టుకోవడానికి కాదని, అతడి అన్నయ్య మైఖేల్ (ప్రకాష్ రాజ్) కోసమని తెలుస్తుంది.

అసలు మైఖేల్ కి, వీరయ్యకి ఉన్న వైరం ఏమిటి? ఈ కథలో అసిస్టెంట్ కమిషనర్ విక్రమ్ సాగర్ (రవితేజ) పాత్ర ఏమిటి అనేది తెలుసుకోవాలంటే “వాల్తేరు వీరయ్య” చూడాల్సిందే.

నటీనటుల పనితీరు: “ఖైదీ నెం.150” అనంతరం చిరంజీవి బెస్ట్ లుక్స్ & మ్యానరిజమ్స్ మళ్ళీ ఈ వీరయ్య పాత్రలోనే కనిపించాయి. అలాగే.. ఆయన అభిమానులు మిస్ అవుతున్న డ్యాన్సులు కూడా ఈ చిత్రంలో పుష్కలంగా ఉన్నాయి. ఇక యాక్షన్ బ్లాక్స్.. ముఖ్యంగా ఇంట్రడక్షన్ & ఇంటర్వెల్ బ్లాక్ ను డిజైన్ చేసిన తీరు థియేటర్లలో పూనకాలు తెప్పించడం ఖాయం. అలాగే.. చిరంజీవి కామెడీ టైమింగ్ సినిమాకి మేజర్ ప్లస్ పాయింట్ గా నిలిచింది.

రవితేజ స్క్రీన్ ప్రెజన్స్ & ఎనర్జీ అదిరిపోయాయి. చిరంజీవితో కాంబినేషన్ సీన్స్ & సెంటిమెంట్స్ బాగున్నాయి. అయితే.. తెలంగాణ యాసలో సహజత్వం లేకపోవడంతో.. కాస్త ఎబ్బెట్టుగా ఉంది.

శ్రుతిహాసన్ పాటలకు మాత్రమే పరిమితమవ్వకుండా.. ఆమె పాత్ర సినిమాలో కీలకంగా ఉండడం కాస్త ఊరటనిచ్చింది. కేతరీన్ తనకు లభించిన లిమిటెడ్ సీన్స్ లో పర్వాలేదనిపించుకుంది.

బాబీ సింహా విలన్ గా ఆకట్టుకున్నాడు. ప్రకాష్ రాజ్, మెయిన్ విలన్ అయినప్పటికీ.. సరిగా ఎలివేట్ అవ్వలేదు.

సాంకేతికవర్గం పనితీరు: ఆర్ధర్ ఎ.విల్సన్ సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ సినిమాకి మంచి హై ఇచ్చింది. చిరంజీవి ఇంట్రడక్షన్ & ఇంటర్వెల్ బ్లాక్స్ కి పెట్టిన క్లోజప్ షాట్స్ & ఫ్రేమ్స్ బాగున్నాయి. దేవిశ్రీప్రసాద్ అందించిన పాటలు పెప్పీగా ఉన్నాయి, నేపధ్య సంగీతం పర్వాలేదు అనిపించింది. వి.ఎఫ్.ఎక్స్ వర్క్ విషయంలో ఇంకాస్త కేర్ తీసుకొని ఉంటే బాగుండేది. శేఖర్ మాస్టర్ కొరియోగ్రఫీ వర్క్ బాగుంది. “పూనకాలు లోడింగ్” పాటను కంపోజ్ చేసిన తీరు ఆడియన్స్ ను విశేషంగా ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది.

దర్శకుడు బాబీ కొల్లి చాలా సింపుల్ రివెంజ్ స్టోరీని.. చక్కని స్క్రీన్ ప్లేతో అలరించే విధంగా తెరకెక్కించాడు. అందువల్ల.. సినిమా ఎక్కడా బోర్ కొట్టకుండా సాగింది. అలాగే.. చిరంజీవి కామెడీ టైమింగ్ ను వాడుకున్న తీరు బాగుంది. ఓవరాల్ గా దర్శకుడిగా బాబీ మాస్ ఆడియన్స్ & మెగా ఫ్యాన్స్ ను ఖుషీ చేయగలిగాడనే చెప్పాలి.

విశ్లేషణ: చిరంజీవి సినిమా నుంచి అభిమానులు ఏవేం కోరుకుంటారో.. సదరు అంశాలన్నీ పుష్కలంగా ఉన్న చిత్రం “వాల్తేరు వీరయ్య”. ఎలివేషన్ సీన్స్ & చిరంజీవి డ్యాన్సులు సినిమాకి ప్రత్యేక ఆకర్షణగా నిలుస్తాయి. చిరంజీవి కామెడీ టైమింగ్ & కామెడీ సీన్స్ పుష్కలంగా ఉన్నాయి కూడా. సో, సంక్రాంతికి ఫ్యామిలీతో కలిసి వీరయ్య మాస్ ను ఎంజాయ్ చేసేయొచ్చు!

‘Waltair Veerayya’ movie review: A few nostalgia-evoking fun moments

Chiranjeevi and ravi teja’s camaraderie and a few vintage moments apart, the telugu film ‘waltair veerayya’ is a patchy fanboy tribute .

In his new Telugu film Waltair Veerayya , directed by K S Ravindra aka Bobby Kolli, when Chiranjeevi says ‘records lo naa peru undadam kaadu, naa peru meede records untayi’ (it is not about my name being in the records, records are written in my name), amid loud cheers of course, it is an undeniable assertion of the sway he has had over mainstream Telugu cinema in his career of more than four decades. The writers — Bobby, Kona Venkat and Chakravarthy Reddy — dip generously into Chiranjeevi’s blockbusters of the past to evoke nostalgia. As an added bonus, their story has room for Ravi Teja — another star who has cemented his place in the masala genre. The writers’ fanboy tribute to these stars has a few fun segments, but the narrative that anchors it is patchy. 

Chiranjeevi plays Waltair Veerayya, a fisherman in Vizag who smuggles luxury goods and wears bright, floral shirts. Even before we see him on screen, his voice sends a goon into a panic spin and makes him drop his lungi! The Indian Navy also turns to Veerayya to save coast guards because when everything fails, Veerayya aka ‘samundar ka sarkar’ aka ‘Bay of Bengal ka baap’ can help. 

The film does not take itself seriously and hopes that the audience will not either. Thankfully there is a story, even if it is sketchy and trite. A wanted criminal, Solomon Ceaser (Bobby Simha), is temporarily sheltered in a village police station and it leads to a massacre. Sitapathi (Rajendra Prasad), a grieving officer, seeks Veerayya’s help to avenge the loss of his colleagues.

The first half of the 160-minute narrative is loaded with dialogues and dance moves to remind us of vintage Chiranjeevi. He shows that he’s still got the moves when he dances to Devi Sri Prasad’s ‘Boss Party’. There is also a throwback to Chiranjeevi and Sridevi’s ‘Abbani teeyani debba’ song from Jagadeka Veerudu Atiloka Sundari when Chiranjeevi reimagines the dance with the much younger Shruti Haasan. Later in the film they also dance to ‘Nuvvu Sridevi aithe, nenu Chiranjeevi...’ These nostalgia moments are punctuated by jokes on contemporary cinema. A dialogue refers to heroes walking in late to attend audio functions flanked by bouncers.

The narrative retains this flaky and fun flavour when it moves to Malaysia so that Veerayya can take on Solomon Ceaser and his brother, Kaala (Prakash Raj).

If you are wondering where Shruti Haasan fits into the story, she gets a slightly better deal than she did in Veera Simha Reddy . As a duty manager in a star hotel, she gets to repeatedly hold Chiranjeevi’s hands in the elevator while assisting him to the 15th floor since he is scared of heights. Remember you aren’t supposed to take anything seriously in this film. A little later she also gets to perform a few slick action moves, never mind that it is cut short since she has to be ultimately saved by Chiranjeevi.

The film brings in Ravi Teja when it feels the need to lend some emotional depth to the story. As police officer Vikram Sagar, Ravi Teja plays the stepbrother to Chiranjeevi and gets enough bandwidth to evoke memories of his early film with Chiranjeevi, titled Annayya . They dance to the foot-tapping ‘Poonakalu loading’ that is choreographed to showcase their camaraderie and dancing skills. The face-off between the two actors is replete with crowd-pleasing references to their earlier hits.

Prakash Raj tries to roar in the character given to him but we have seen him in truly menacing parts before. The same goes for Bobby Simha whose villany seems like a put-on act.

Vennela Kishore makes an impression in a few scenes but there are plenty of others including Rajendra Prasad, Catherine Tresa and Sathyaraj who are saddled with forgettable parts.

Waltair Veerayya is fun for those who want to spot the plentiful references to Chiranjeevi’s earlier films like Khaidi and Gang Leader or revel in Ravi Teja and Chiranjeevi referencing each other’s hit dialogues during the face off. But if you are looking for a solid fanboy tribute that pays homage to Chiranjeevi’s stardom with an engaging story, this isn’t it.

Nostalgia is interesting when served right, not when it becomes a tool to prop up a pale narrative.

చాలా ఏళ్ళ తర్వాత చిరంజీవిలోని అసలైన కామెడీని వాడుకుంటూ వాల్తేరు వీరయ్య సినిమా చేసామని చెప్పారు దర్శక నిర్మాతలు. ఈ సినిమా పూర్తిగా చిరుకు ట్రిబ్యూట్ అంటూ చెప్పుకొచ్చాడు దర్శకుడు బాబీ. ఆయన్ని ఎలా స్క్రీన్ మీద చూపిస్తే బాగుంటుందో అలాగే చూపించామని చెప్పారు. మరి వాల్తేరు వీరయ్య ఎలా ఉంది..? నిజంగానే అంచనాలు అందుకుందా..?

వాల్తేరు వీరయ్య(చిరంజీవి) వైజాగ్‌లోని జాలరిపేటలో చేపలు పడుతుంటాడు. అక్కడ సామ్రాజ్యానికి అతడే కింగ్. అంతర్జాతీయ డ్రగ్ డీలర్స్‌ను పట్టుకోడానికి నేవి అధికారులు సైతం వీరయ్యనే సాయం అడుగుతుంటారు. ఆయన గురించి తెలిసిన పోలీస్ ఆఫీసర్ సీతాపతి (రాజేంద్ర ప్రసాద్) ఇంటర్నేషనల్ మాఫియా డాన్ సోలొమాన్ సీజర్ (బాబీ సింహా)ను కిడ్నాప్ చేసి ఇండియాకు తీసుకొచ్చేందుకు వీరయ్యతో డీల్ మాట్లాడుకుంటాడు. దానికోసం మలేషియా వెళ్ళిన వీరయ్య.. అక్కడ సోలొమాన్ సీజర్‌ను కాదని.. అతడి అన్నయ్య మైకెల్‌ను టార్గెట్ చేస్తాడు. అసలు అతడిని ఎందుకు వీరయ్య టార్గెట్ చేసాడు..? ఈ కథలోకి ఏసిపి విక్రమ్ సాగర్ (రవితేజ) ఎందుకు వచ్చాడు..? వీరయ్య, విక్రమ్ సాగర్ మధ్య గొడవేంటి..? అనేది అసలు కథ..

వాల్తేరు వీరయ్య రొటీన్ ఎంటర్‌టైనర్.. స్వయంగా చిరంజీవి చెప్పిన మాట ఇది. ఆయన చెప్పిందే నిజం.. కచ్చితంగా రొటీన్ సినిమానే.. భూతద్దం వేసి వెతికినా కొత్త దనం లేని రొటీన్ కమర్షియల్ సినిమా. కానీ దాన్ని ఎలా స్క్రీన్ మీద ప్రజెంట్ చేసారనే విషయంలోనే దర్శకుడి టాలెంట్ తెలుస్తుంది. అందులో బాబీ చాలా వరకు సక్సెస్ అయ్యాడు. చిరంజీవిని ఎలా చూపించాలనుకున్నాడో.. అభిమానులు ఆయన్ని ఎలా చూడాలని కోరుకుంటున్నారో అలాంటి సీన్స్ రాసుకున్నాడు. 20 ఏళ్ళ తర్వాత మెగాస్టార్‌లోని కామెడీని బయటికి తీసుకొచ్చాడు. అయితే దానికి తగ్గ కథ, కథనం రాసుకోవడంలో మాత్రం ఫెయిల్ అయ్యాడు బాబీ. ముఖ్యంగా రొటీన్ కథ కావడంతో.. కొత్తగా చెప్పుకోడానికేం లేదు. అందుకే చిరంజీవిలోని వింటేజ్ మెగా మ్యాజిక్ ఫుల్లుగా వాడేసాడు బాబీ. ఫస్టాఫ్ అంతా చెప్పడానికి ఏం కథ లేదు కాబట్టే.. మలేసియాలో చిరుతో కామెడీ చేయించాడు.. అలాగే సెకండాఫ్‌లో పూర్తిగా రవితేజకు ఇచ్చేసాడు మెగాస్టార్. తను సైలెంట్‌గా కామన్ ఆడియన్ అయిపోయాడు. కామెడీ చేసాడు.. ఇలాంటి సీన్స్ అన్ని చిరులో చాలా ఏళ్ల నుంచి చూడాలనుకుంటున్నారు మెగాస్టార్. చిరంజీవి ఇంట్రడక్షన్ సీన్ అదిరిపోయింది.. అలాగే రవితేజను కూడా చాలా చక్కగా చూపించాడు బాబీ. ముఖ్యంగా వాళ్లిద్దరి మద్య సీన్స్ అద్భుతంగా రాసుకున్నాడు బాబీ. రవితేజ ఉన్నంత సేపు చిరు చేసిన కామెడీ బాగా వర్కవుట్ అయింది. ముఖ్యంగా చాలా ఏళ్ళ తర్వాత చిరులోని వన్ లైనర్స్ బయటికి వచ్చాయి. అలాంటి మెగాస్టార్‌ను చూసి అభిమానులు అయితే మురిసిపోతున్నారు. ‘వాల్తేరు వీరయ్య’ రెగ్యులర్ కమర్షియల్ సినిమా అయినా చిరు మ్యాజిక్ నిలబెడుతుంది.. ముఖ్యంగా పండక్కి కావాల్సిన ఎంటర్‌టైన్మెంట్ అయితే ఇచ్చేస్తుంది.. శృతి హాసన్ కారెక్టర్ సినిమాలో బాగా ఇమిడిపోయింది. ఓవరాల్‌గా రొటీన్ సినిమానే కానీ మెగా మ్యాజిక్ వర్కవుట్ అయ్యింది.

Megastar Chiranjeevi is back again with Waltair Veerayya after enjoying a success with his Godfather movie. Chiranjeevi joined the hands with Bobby Kolli for Waltair Veerayya, which also has Mass Maharaja Raviteja in it for a crucial role. The trailer appeared like a pure entertainer with all the commercial elements. Let us see what this film is up to. 

What Is It About? 

Waltair Veerayya (Chiranjeevi) is hired by a policeman Seetapati (Rajendra Prasad) to catch an international smuggler Solomon Ceaser (Bobby Simha) who stays in Malaysia. Veerayya visits Malaysia, but his target is Michael (Prakash Raj). What is Veerayya’s story and what is it to do with ACP Vikram Sagar (Raviteja)? The answers to these questions form the rest of the story. 

Performances

Chiranjeevi is at his usual best in Waltair Veerayya’s role. The dances and action scenes are fine. The comedy could have been more entertaining if written well. Chiru’s comedy timing is impeccable but it is not utilized to the fullest. Some of the vintage Chiru references like Jagadekaveerudu Athilokasundari song, Muthamestri steps, and others worked in parts. 

Raviteja comes in the second half and his combination scenes with Chiru are just alright. With Megastar and Mass maharaja on screen, the scenes are expected to be explosive, but most of them are flat. Mainly, Raviteja’s energy and strong screen presence are missing. 

Shruti Haasan is alright and again, she is mostly for songs. Bobby Simha is a fine actor but he is wasted. Prakash Raj did a ton of these roles earlier and there is nothing new here for him. Vennela Kishore, Catherine Tresa, Rajendra Prasad, and others did alright for their given characters. There are many others that filled the screen but had nothing else to do. Not many will remember that Sathyaraj also did a role in the movie. 

Technicalities

Waltair Veerayya is just another routine revenge story from the commercial formula book. The background music is monotonous. Maybe the music directors also might have fallen into a formula of tunes with the same pattern of scenes in any so-called commercial film. The cinematography is good. Dialogues are ordinary, except for the few reference lines from the old films of the two actors. The Boss party song and also the Poonakaalu loading songs are good to watch.

Overblown comedy Background Music Routine Story Climax & Lack of Emotion

Analysis 

Waltair Veerayya is a routine revenge drama in an old-school commercial setup. Though these are not the days of vintage formula movies, it might have achieved a brownie when the entertainment part works well enough. Surprisingly, the entertainment padding falls flat with weak writing and execution, even with two mass superstars in the film. 

Waltair Veerayya has an ordinary first half which heavily depends on entertainment. The viral comedy dialogues of Chiru worked here and there, but everything else fails to engage. The interval block is decent with the engaging fight. With the story followed by the interval sequence, Waltair Veerayya suddenly reminds us of Chiru’s Jai Chiranjeeva. It has a similar revenge story except that Jai Chiranjeeva has got better songs and comedy.

The second half is shared by Raviteja and Chiranjeevi in equal parts. With Chiru and Raviteja on screen, it should be loading poonakaalu, but nothing of that sort happens. The confrontation scenes also ended up as ordinary scenes due to poor writing. 

Continuing the viral comedy in the second half too, Chiru brings some laughs with the ‘Jambalakidi Jaarumithaya’ comedy. The usage of social media incidents as comedy in films has become common these days, but for a star like Chiru, the comedy could have been more original. There are many scenes in the second half that are overdone and farcical. 

The pre-climax and climax also do not deviate from the routine style. The director’s failure in writing is clearly visible all over, particularly in comedy scenes and unemotional climax scenes.

Waltair Veerayya is yet another age-old story that completely failed to utilize the strengths and energy of Chiru and Raviteja. It is high time that our filmmakers give up on standard format subjects in the name of commercial formula. Overall, Waltair Veerayya has some comedy that worked, a few songs that look good and that is all, leaving it as an average fare.

Nearly after two decades, megastar Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja have worked together. The uniqueness of "Waltair Veerayya" wasn't limited to the duo coming together. Since the movie's launch, people have been talking about it, and the hashtag "Poonakalu Loading" has piqued their interest. The songs and the trailer have helped build anticipation.

Find out if this movie actually delivers or not.

Story: Solomon Caesar (Bobby), a criminal, kills numerous police officers before escaping to Malaysia. When an upright police officer decides to hire a private individual to extradite Caesar, he learns about Waltair Veerayya's (Chiranjeevi) skills in providing such services. Veerayya, who needs money to win a case, agrees to do the job in exchange for a payment of Rs. 25 lakhs.

After arriving in Malaysia, Veerayya and the policeman devise a strategy to capture Solomon Caesar. While they're at it, Indian RAW agents have started an undercover operation to apprehend the same criminal, who is getting the aid of his drug-trafficking brother Michael Solomon (Prakash Raj).

Veerayya befriends one of the RAW officers(Shruti Haasan). Will Solomon be brought to India by Veerayya? Does his decision to take on this operation stem from something other than money?

Artistes’ Performances: The characterization and acting style of megastar Chiranjeevi takes us back to his earlier films like "Mutha Mestri." His fans can expect a genuine throwback experience from his modulations, playful demeanour, dances, and general attire. Even though Chiranjeevi does his best to entertain, the padding was not supportive. Those vintage comedy sequences aren't funny at all.

Sprucing up the proceedings is the presence of Ravi Teja. The "Poonakalu Loading" filmed on Ravi Teja and Chiranjeevi is main highlight. Ravi Teja provides some verve to story.

In the role of the main villain, Prakash Raj gives a performance that is quite routine. Bobby Simha's persona is like a lot of noise but no action.

In addition to Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja, the film features a slew of other well-known actors in minor roles. The presence of Rajendra Prasad, Vennela Kishore, Subbaraj, Pradeep Rawat, and John Vijay hardly make a difference.

Technical Excellence: The soundtrack is a major selling point for the film. Songs by Devi Sri Prasad are more enjoyable to watch than they are to listen to. They are depicted in colourful manner. "Sridevi Chiranjeevi" and "Poonakalu Loading" are noteworthy.

The camerawork of Arthur Wilson is fantastic. The frames are rich. The production values are grand. The movie moves at a snail's pace. The script and dialogue are nothing special.

Analysis The hashtag #PoonakaluLoading was created by the film's director Bobby and has been used to promote "Waltair Veerayya" from the beginning of the movie's release. He meant that his narration and the ideas it contained would send fans into a frenzy. However, "Poonakam" (Vibrational energy) is noticeably absent from the movie.

It seems like "Waltair Veerayya" is more of an attempt to introduce modern viewers to Chiranjeevi's classic acting style.

The concept may have had promise, but director Bobby falls short in the film's actual presentation. The antics that Chiranjeevi used to perform no longer have any effect. Throughout the first act, the director has mostly relied on Chiranjeevi's comedic expressions and moments.

To ask for assistance of a commoner in extraditing a criminal makes no sense on the part of law enforcement. Regardless, things get worse during the parts set in Malaysia, where Chiranjeevi and his gang try to kidnap Bobby Simha. They don't produce the desired result.

The film finds its rhythm only during the explosive interval block. In the first half, this is the only section that works quite well. As soon as Ravi Teja and his story enter the picture, the tone changes. This part of the second half has some interesting moments. One of the best parts of the movie is the touching scene with Ravi Teja and Chiranjeevi, who play brothers.

In the film, Chiranjeevi plays a man who suffers from vertigo. This aspect is used cleverly. However, such clever writing is found sporadically, and the rest of it is banal.

The film runs at snail's pace and features dated scenes. The drunken comedy scene featuring Sathya Raj and Chiranjeevi is one example of how bad the writing is. This is all very formulaic. Another instance of bad writing is found in the climax.

Although the film benefits from catchy tunes, Chiranjeevi's entertaining performance, and a few good scenes, its overall weak writing and dated plot are its undoing. In addition, the film lacks the high points that audiences of this type of film would expect.

Overall, "Waltair Veerayya" has only few enjoyable moments and suffers from an antiquated screenplay and a dearth of interesting scenes. This doesn't excite regular audiences, aside from mega fans who want to see vintage Chiranjeevi moments.

Mr Bachchan Review Story analysis (ఎలా సాగిందంటే): దేశ చ‌రిత్ర‌లోనే ఆదాయ ప‌న్ను శాఖ చేసిన ఓ అతి పెద్ద రైడ్‌ను ఆధారం చేసుకొని హిందీ రైడ్‌ను రూపొందించిన సంగ‌తి తెలిసిందే. హ‌రీష్‌ ఆ క‌థ‌నే త‌న‌దైన శైలి మార్పులు - చేర్పుల‌తో.. ర‌వితేజ మార్క్ మాస్ యాక్ష‌న్ ఎంట‌ర్‌టైన్‌మెంట్ జోడించి స‌రికొత్త‌గా తెర‌పై చూపించే ప్ర‌య‌త్నం చేశారు. ముఖ్యంగా మాతృక‌తో పోల్చితే ఈ చిత్ర విష‌యంలో హ‌రీష్ చేసిన పెద్ద మార్పు.. అక్క‌డ లేని ల‌వ్‌ట్రాక్‌ను ఇక్క‌డ జోడించ‌డ‌మే. అదే ఈ సినిమాకి ప్ర‌ధాన బ‌లం. ప్ర‌థమార్ధాన్ని నిల‌బెట్ట‌డంలో.. ప్రేక్ష‌కుల‌కు కావాల్సినంత కాలక్షేపాన్నివ్వ‌డంలో ఈ ట్రాకే ముఖ్య భూమిక పోషించింది. (mr bachchan review telugu) ఇది అచ్చ‌మైన అస‌లు సిస‌లు మాస్ క‌థ‌. ఇందులో మ‌రీ ఆశ్చ‌ర్య‌ప‌రిచేంత కొత్త‌ద‌నం ఏమీ క‌నిపించ‌దు. హీరో కూడా సినిమా మొద‌ల‌వ్వ‌గానే ఓ అదిరిపోయే ఇంట్ర‌డ‌క్ష‌న్ ఫైట్‌తో ఠ‌క్కున తెర‌పై వ‌చ్చి వాలిపోతాడు. ఆ వెంట‌నే పెళ్లి చూపులు నాట‌కంతో పొగాకు వ్యాపారి అక్ర‌మార్జ‌నను బ‌య‌ట పెట్టి.. హీరో తెలివి తేట‌ల్ని, శ‌క్తియుక్తుల్ని ఆస‌క్తిక‌రంగా ప‌రిచ‌యం చేశారు. మిస్ట‌ర్ బ‌చ్చ‌న్ పేరు వెన‌కున్న క‌థ‌.. ఆ క్యారెక్ట‌ర్‌ను ఎస్టాబ్లిష్ చేసిన విధానం అల‌రిస్తాయి.

బ‌చ్చ‌న్ స‌స్పెండ్ అయ్యి కోటిపల్లికి చేర‌డంతో క‌థ రొమాంటిక్ కోణంలోకి మ‌లుపు తిరుగుతుంది. పాత హిందీ క్లాసిక్స్‌తో ముడిపెట్టి నాయ‌కానాయిక‌ల ల‌వ్‌ట్రాక్‌ను న‌డిపిన తీరు.. వాళ్ల మ‌ధ్య న‌డిచే క్యాసెట్స్ ప్రేమ రాయ‌బారాలు అన్నీ ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్ని వెన‌క‌టి రోజుల్లోకి తీసుకెళ్లిపోతాయి. దీనికి తోడు మ‌ధ్య‌లో దొర‌బాబుగా స‌త్య చేసే అల్ల‌రి ప్రేక్ష‌కుల‌కు కావాల్సినంత వినోదం పంచుతుంది. స‌రిగ్గా విరామానికి ముందు ముత్యం జ‌గ్గ‌య్య ఇంటిపై రైడ్‌కు వెళ్ల‌డం.. ఆ త‌ర్వాత అక్క‌డ బ‌చ్చ‌న్ చేసే యాక్ష‌న్ హంగామా.. క‌థ‌ను ర‌స‌వ‌త్త‌రంగా మారుస్తాయి.

అయితే ప్ర‌థమార్ధంలో క‌నిపించిన హ‌రీష్ మార్కు మ్యాజిక్ ద్వితీయార్ధంలో సన్నగిల్లింది. ఇది పూర్తిగా ఒక్క ఐటీ రైడ్ నేప‌థ్యంగానే అల్లుకున్న క‌థ‌. దానిపైనే ద్వితీయార్ధ‌మంతా ఆసక్తిక‌రంగా న‌డ‌పాలంటే క‌నీసం ఆ రైడ్ సాగే తీరులో కొంతైనా సీరియ‌స్‌నెస్ క‌నిపించాలి. (mr bachchan review telugu) ప్ర‌తినాయ‌కుడి అక్ర‌మార్జ‌న‌ను తవ్వితీసే ప్ర‌క్రియ‌లో హీరో బుర్ర‌కు ప‌దును పెట్టే స‌న్నివేశాలు కొన్ని అయినా ఉంటే బాగుండేది. ఆరంభంలో జ‌గ్గ‌య్య పాత్ర‌ను క‌రుడుగ‌ట్టిన విల‌న్‌లా చూపించిన‌ప్ప‌టికీ..  త‌న నుంచి బ‌చ్చ‌న్‌కు ఎలాంటి స‌వాళ్లు ఎదుర‌వ‌వు. దీంతో క‌థ‌లో సంఘ‌ర్ష‌ణ తగ్గింది. మ‌ధ్య‌లో సిద్ధు జొన్న‌ల‌గ‌డ్డ యాక్ష‌న్ సీక్వెన్స్ క‌థ‌కు కాస్త ఊపు తీసుకొచ్చినా, ఒక సాధార‌ణ క్లైమాక్స్‌తో సినిమా ముగుస్తుంది.

జ‌గ‌ప‌తిబాబు పాత్ర ఆరంభంలో శ‌క్తిమంతంగా క‌నిపించిన‌ప్ప‌టికీ ఆ త‌ర్వాత పూర్తిగా బ‌ల‌హీనంగా మారిపోయింది. (mr bachchan review telugu)  స‌త్య కామెడీ ప్ర‌థమార్ధానికి ఆయువు ప‌ట్టు. త‌నికెళ్ల భ‌ర‌ణి, స‌చిన్ ఖేడ్కర్‌, గౌత‌మీ, అన్న‌పూర్ణ‌మ్మ త‌దిత‌రుల పాత్ర‌లు ప‌రిధి మేర‌కు ఉంటాయి. సిద్ధు జొన్న‌ల‌గ‌డ్డ తెర‌పై క‌నిపించింది కొద్దిసేపైనా ఆ ఎపిసోడ్ అల‌రిస్తుంది. ఓ పాట‌లో దేవిశ్రీ ప్ర‌సాద్ కూడా త‌ళుక్కున మెరిశారు.

Mr Bachchan Direction, Music: హ‌రీష్ ఈ క‌థ‌లో చేసిన కొన్ని మార్పులు.. ఆయ‌న రాసుకున్న సంభాష‌ణ‌లు బాగా వ‌ర్క‌వుట‌య్యాయి. ప్ర‌థమార్ధంలో బ‌ల‌మైన క‌థ లేకున్నా ల‌వ్‌ట్రాక్‌, కామెడీ సీన్స్‌తో ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్ని అల‌రించిన ఆయ‌న..  అస‌లు క‌థలోకి వెళ్లాక పూర్తిగా గాడి తప్పినట్లు అనిపించింది. సాంకేతికంగా ఈ చిత్రానికి తొలి హీరో మిక్కీ జే మేయర్. ఈ క‌థ‌కు త‌గ్గ‌ట్లుగా మంచి క్యాచీ టూన్స్ ఇచ్చారు. రెప్పల్ డప్పుల్, జిక్కీ, సితార్, నల్లంచు తెల్ల చీర పాటలు ఓవైపు వీనులవిందును.. మ‌రోవైపు క‌నుల విందును అందించాయి. . అయానంక బోస్ కెమెరాపనితనం ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటుంది. నిర్మాణ విలువ‌లు ఉన్న‌తంగా ఉన్నాయి.

Walter Movie Review: Sibi Sathyaraj Tries Really Hard In A Convoluted Cop Drama

There comes a time in star kids' lives when they act in movies with titles that are essentially the cinematic equivalent of the question, " Tujhe pata hai, mere baap kaun hai ?" So, we got Abhishek Bachchan doing Dostana , Pranav Mohanlal doing Irupathionnaam Nootaandu and Vikram Prabhu doing Veera Sivaji and Vellaikaara Durai. 

For Sibi, this situation seems to be recurring, given that he has already starred in movies such as Vetrivel Sakthivel and Kattapava Kaanom . Add to that list this week's Walter , which alludes to his father Sathyaraj 's superhit Walter Vetrivel. Oh, and we're already prepared for Dhruv Vikram 's next film to be titled Pithamaganin Magan .

What this does, however, is set the actor up for constant comparison. This is inevitable in Walter, where Sibi plays a no-nonsense upright cop, like his father did over a quarter century ago. But both the director and the actor seem to have taken the  term 'upright' far too seriously because you see the constant effort Sibi takes to stand erect to play the part of the ACP of Kumbakonam. He also gets a thick moustache, a Bullet, a kada , and that all-important feet-first entry scene, but it's still very hard to buy him as the supercop he's meant to be.

And that's mainly because he gets nothing really to work with. Apart from the fact that he's dutiful, obedient and honest, the only thing we learn about this cop is that his bedroom is covered with hundreds of pictures of his girlfriend, shaped to form a massive heart.

Which brings me to this film's love track, which is shockingly banal even by Tamil cinema standards. Rajeshwari (Shirin Kanchwala) plays that constantly annoyed girlfriend who is upset that her super-busy boyfriend makes no time for her. We learn nothing about her either, apart from the fact that she's got a lot of time on hand and that her bedroom is filled with dozens of cute teddy bears in all shapes and sizes. Had she taken any other moment to show her annoyance to her mostly absent boyfriend, instead of just after a love montage where they basically do everything together, we may have perhaps understood her plight. Now, what if this was just the second-worst instance of song placement in this movie?

When Walter is tired and shocked at the sudden disappearance of several babies under his watch, he comes home and ignores Rajeshwari, who is standing right there. This worried man walks into his bathroom to take a shower with his clothes still on, and that's when we get a steamy lovemaking song. Do you now see what I mean about him always being upright, and on duty?

Terrible love tracks are something we're used to by now, but what if the investigation part of this cop thriller isn't much to speak of either? Early on, when Walter is assigned an 'encounter' killing of a seemingly honest politician, he doesn't ask questions or wonder why he's being asked to do this. He just goes ahead and shoots the man from really far away using… a pistol. He's not much of a follow-up person either, after he realises that these missing babies are being returned to their rightful parents. Come to think of it, he does really little to actually help with the investigation, apart from being the point of contact for the bad guys to exact revenge.

The film's only novelty, about a corrupt politician and a rare blood group, is so contrived it quickly stops making sense. Despite the film's interesting idea for a two-hero subject, what we see is a watered-down version where the twists are predictable and the staging is flat-out amateurish. Stuck undecidedly between a mass cop movie and an investigative thriller, Walter is not more than just another copout.

Evol Review In Telugu: ఈ మధ్య తెలుగులోనూ బోల్డ్ కంటెంట్ సినిమాలు ఎక్కువగానే వస్తున్నాయి. అలాంటి వాటికి థియేటర్లలో రిలీజ్ చేసేందుకు అనుమతి లభించకపోవడంతో నేరుగా ఓటీటీలో డిజిటల్ స్ట్రీమింగ్ చేస్తున్నారు. అలా డైరెక్ట్ ఓటీటీ రిలీజ్‌కు వచ్చిన బోల్డ్ కంటెంట్ మూవీనే ఎవోల్.

ప్రభు (శివకుమార్ రామచంద్రవరపు)ను నిధి (జెన్నిఫర్ ఇమ్మాన్యూయెల్) పెళ్లి చేసుకుంటుంది. ప్రభు ఫ్రెండ్, బిజినెస్ పార్టనర్ రిషి (సూర్య శ్రీనివాస్)తో నిధి అక్రమసంబంధం పెట్టుకుంటుంది. అలాగే ప్రభు తన అసిస్టెంట్ ప్రశాంతి (దివ్య శర్మ)తో పెళ్లికి ముందు నుంచే ఎఫైర్ కొనసాగిస్తుంటాడు. ఓరోజు నైట్ తన ఎఫైర్ గురించి భార్య నిధికి చెప్పి డివోర్స్ అడుగుతాడు ప్రభు.

భర్త ప్రభు డివోర్స్ అడిగాడని, తాను కూడా తమ ఇల్లీగల రిలేషన్‌షిప్ గురించి చెప్పినట్లు రిషితో నిధి చెబుతుంది. దాంతో నిధిపై రిషి ఫైర్ అవుతాడు. రోడ్డు మీద వదిలేసి వెళ్లిపోతాడు. కట్ చేస్తే రిషి, ప్రభు ఇద్దరూ కలిసి తమ ఎఫైర్స్ గురించి మాట్లాడుకుంటూ డ్రింక్ చేస్తుంటారు. అక్కడికి ఎంట్రీ ఇచ్చి కాసేపు ఫన్ చేద్దామని మాట్లాడిన నిధి వాళ్లిద్దరిని గన్‌తో షూట్ చేస్తుంది.

ప్రభు, రిషి ని నిధి గన్‌తో షూట్ చేసిన తర్వాత ఏమైంది? అసలు వాళ్లిద్దరిని నిధి ఎందుకు చంపాలనుకుంది? నిజంగా వాళ్లను మర్డర్ చేసిందా? ఈ ముగ్గురి గతం ఏంటీ? వీళ్ల మధ్య రిలేషన్‌షిప్ ఎలా ఏర్పడింది? ప్రభుతో ఎఫైర్ పెట్టుకున్న అసిస్టెంట్ ప్రశాంతి తన భర్తతో ఎందుకు విడిపోవాలని అనుకుంది? రిషి భార్య స్వాతి పాత్ర ఏంటీ? అనే విషయాలతో సాగిన అడల్ట్ కంటెంట్ మూవీనే ఎవోల్.

లవ్ (LOVE) అనే పదం ఇంగ్లీష్ లెటర్స్‌ను రివర్స్ చేసి చదివితే ఎవోల్ (EVOL) అని వస్తుంది. "ఏ లవ్ స్టోరీ ఇన్ రివర్స్" అనేది ఉపశీర్షిక. అందుకే టైటిల్‌ను అలా పెట్టారు. టైటిల్‌గా సినిమా కూడా రివర్స్‌గా సాగుతుంది. నిజానికి సినిమా మొత్తం కథ అరగంటలో అయిపోతుంది. కానీ, ఎమోషనల్ సీన్స్, రిపీటెడ్ బోల్డ్ సీన్స్, ఫ్లాష్‌బ్యాక్, రిలేషన్స్ ఏర్పడటం వంటి సీన్లతో మరో అరగంటసేపు సాగదీశారు.

మొదటి అరగంట

భార్య నిధికి తన ఎఫైర్ గురించి ప్రభు చెప్పడంతో సినిమా ప్రారంభం అవుతుంది. భర్త డివోర్స్ ఇస్తాననడం గురించి ప్రభు ఫ్రెండ్ రిషితో తమ ఇల్లీగల్ రిలేషన్‌షిప్ గురించి చెప్పినట్లు చెప్పడంతో మరింత ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్‌గా స్టోరీ నడుస్తుంది. మొదటి అరగంట ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్‌ సాగిన తర్వాత చాలా వరకు బోర్ కొడుతుంది. అడల్ట్ కంటెంట్, గతం గురించి చెప్పే విషయాలు కొంతవరకు బాగానే ఉన్నా మరి సాగదీతలా అనిపిస్తుంది.

ఎఫైర్స్ తప్పా

ఒకేసారి ఒక్కరితో కాకుండా అంతకంటే ఎక్కువమందిని ప్రేమించడం తప్పా అని ప్రియుడితో నిధి అడుగుతుంది. ఇదే కాన్సెప్ట్‌తో సినిమా మొత్తం నడుస్తుంది. అయితే, ఈ మూవీ వుమెన్ ఎంపవర్‌మెంట్ కోసం తీసినట్లు, భార్యలను భర్తలు బాగా చూసుకోవాలి, వాళ్ల ఫ్రీడమ్ వాళ్లకు ఇవ్వాలి అనే ఇంటెన్షన్‌తో తెరకెక్కించినట్లు డైరెక్టర్ చెప్పారు. కానీ, మూవీ చూస్తే ఇదేనా వుమెన్ ఎంపర్‌మెంట్ అనిపిస్తుంది. సినిమాలో ఇల్లీగల్ ఎఫైర్స్ తప్పా ఇంకోటి కనిపించదు.

నాన్ లీనియర్ స్త్రీన్‌ప్లే

భార్యకు భర్త ఇచ్చిన ఫ్రీడమ్.. తను కూడా ఇంకో అమ్మాయితో ఎఫైర్ పెట్టుకోవడం కోసమే అన్నట్లుగా ఉంది కానీ, నిజంగా భార్యకు స్వాతంత్య్రం ఇచ్చినట్లుగా లేదు. సినిమాలో విపరీతమైన పచ్చి అడల్ట్ కంటెంట్‌తో నింపేశారు. అయితే అది చాలా రిపీటెడ్‌గా వస్తూనే ఉంటుంది. మూడేళ్ల క్రితం, రెండేళ్ల క్రితం, ప్రస్తుతం అంటూ నాన్ లీనియర్ స్త్రీన్‌ప్లేతో విసుగుతెప్పించారు. వాళ్లు ఎఫైర్ పెట్టుకోవడంలో కూడా కొత్తదనం ఏం చూపించలేదు.

ఊహించని క్లైమాక్స్ ట్విస్ట్

రొటీన్ స్టోరీకి ఇంటిమెట్ సీన్స్ యాడ్ చేసి తీశారు. ఇల్లీగల్ రిలేషన్‌షిప్‌లో సాటిస్‌ఫ్యాక్షన్, ఎంజాయ్‌మెంట్ గురించి వచ్చే కన్వర్జేషన్ ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్‌గానే ఉన్నా లవ్ అని చెప్పే ఎమోషన్ కన్విన్సింగ్‌గా లేదు. ఇక వీటన్నింటికి తోడు క్లైమాక్స్ ట్విస్ట్. ఈ ట్విస్ట్ కోసమా ఇదంతా చేసింది అనే డౌట్ వస్తుంది. అలాగే అది నిజమా.. ఏది నిజమా అనే మరో కన్‌ఫ్యూజన్ ఏర్పడుతుంది. అసలు ఏం చెప్పాలనుకున్నారో అర్థం కాలేదు.

అదిరిపోయిన కెమెరా వర్క్

అడల్ట్ సీన్స్‌ను ప్రధానంగా తీసుకుని దానికి క్రైమ్, సైకలాజీ, కాస్తా హారర్ ఎలిమెంట్స్‌ను టచ్ చేశారు. కానీ, కెమెరా వర్క్ మాత్రం చాలా బాగుంది. చాలా కొత్తగా సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ ఉంటుంది. చాలా వరకు కెమెరా చూపించిన యాంగిల్స్ కొత్త ఫీల్ ఇస్తాయి. మ్యూజిక్ కూడా చాలా బాగుంది. ఫ్రెష్ మూడ్‌లోకి తీసుకెళ్తుంది.

బాగున్న యాక్టింగ్, డబ్బింగ్

Evol Movie Explained In Telugu: అలాగే క్యారెక్టర్స్ పర్ఫామెన్స్, హీరోయిన్స్‌కు చెప్పిన డబ్బింగ్ కూడా చాలా బాగుంది. వారి యాక్టింగ్‌తో బాగానే ఎంగేజ్ చేశారు. అయితే, ప్రశాంతి డబ్బింగ్ మాత్రం కాస్తా లిప్ సింక్ మిస్ అయింది. ఓవరాల్‌గా చెప్పాలంటే మూవీ ఓకే అనుకోవచ్చు. చూడటం మాత్రం ఓన్ రిస్క్. కానీ, ఫ్యామిలీతో మాత్రం అస్సలు చూడకండి. ఒంటరిగా ఉంటే మాత్రం ఇయర్‌ఫోన్స్‌తో చూసేయండి.

Mr Bachchan X (Twitter) Review: Directed by Harish Shankar, his other remake film titled 'Mr Bachchan' featured Massraja Ravi Teja in the lead role.
