Positive thinking: Stop negative self-talk to reduce stress

Positive thinking helps with stress management and can even improve your health. Practice overcoming negative self-talk with examples provided.

Is your glass half-empty or half-full? How you answer this age-old question about positive thinking may reflect your outlook on life, your attitude toward yourself, and whether you're optimistic or pessimistic — and it may even affect your health.

Indeed, some studies show that personality traits such as optimism and pessimism can affect many areas of your health and well-being. The positive thinking that usually comes with optimism is a key part of effective stress management. And effective stress management is associated with many health benefits. If you tend to be pessimistic, don't despair — you can learn positive thinking skills.

Understanding positive thinking and self-talk

Positive thinking doesn't mean that you ignore life's less pleasant situations. Positive thinking just means that you approach unpleasantness in a more positive and productive way. You think the best is going to happen, not the worst.

Positive thinking often starts with self-talk. Self-talk is the endless stream of unspoken thoughts that run through your head. These automatic thoughts can be positive or negative. Some of your self-talk comes from logic and reason. Other self-talk may arise from misconceptions that you create because of lack of information or expectations due to preconceived ideas of what may happen.

If the thoughts that run through your head are mostly negative, your outlook on life is more likely pessimistic. If your thoughts are mostly positive, you're likely an optimist — someone who practices positive thinking.

The health benefits of positive thinking

Researchers continue to explore the effects of positive thinking and optimism on health. Health benefits that positive thinking may provide include:

  • Increased life span
  • Lower rates of depression
  • Lower levels of distress and pain
  • Greater resistance to illnesses
  • Better psychological and physical well-being
  • Better cardiovascular health and reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease and stroke
  • Reduced risk of death from cancer
  • Reduced risk of death from respiratory conditions
  • Reduced risk of death from infections
  • Better coping skills during hardships and times of stress

It's unclear why people who engage in positive thinking experience these health benefits. One theory is that having a positive outlook enables you to cope better with stressful situations, which reduces the harmful health effects of stress on your body.

It's also thought that positive and optimistic people tend to live healthier lifestyles — they get more physical activity, follow a healthier diet, and don't smoke or drink alcohol in excess.

Identifying negative thinking

Not sure if your self-talk is positive or negative? Some common forms of negative self-talk include:

  • Filtering. You magnify the negative aspects of a situation and filter out all the positive ones. For example, you had a great day at work. You completed your tasks ahead of time and were complimented for doing a speedy and thorough job. That evening, you focus only on your plan to do even more tasks and forget about the compliments you received.
  • Personalizing. When something bad occurs, you automatically blame yourself. For example, you hear that an evening out with friends is canceled, and you assume that the change in plans is because no one wanted to be around you.
  • Catastrophizing. You automatically anticipate the worst without facts that the worse will happen. The drive-through coffee shop gets your order wrong, and then you think that the rest of your day will be a disaster.
  • Blaming. You try to say someone else is responsible for what happened to you instead of yourself. You avoid being responsible for your thoughts and feelings.
  • Saying you "should" do something. You think of all the things you think you should do and blame yourself for not doing them.
  • Magnifying. You make a big deal out of minor problems.
  • Perfectionism. Keeping impossible standards and trying to be more perfect sets yourself up for failure.
  • Polarizing. You see things only as either good or bad. There is no middle ground.

Focusing on positive thinking

You can learn to turn negative thinking into positive thinking. The process is simple, but it does take time and practice — you're creating a new habit, after all. Following are some ways to think and behave in a more positive and optimistic way:

  • Identify areas to change. If you want to become more optimistic and engage in more positive thinking, first identify areas of your life that you usually think negatively about, whether it's work, your daily commute, life changes or a relationship. You can start small by focusing on one area to approach in a more positive way. Think of a positive thought to manage your stress instead of a negative one.
  • Check yourself. Periodically during the day, stop and evaluate what you're thinking. If you find that your thoughts are mainly negative, try to find a way to put a positive spin on them.
  • Be open to humor. Give yourself permission to smile or laugh, especially during difficult times. Seek humor in everyday happenings. When you can laugh at life, you feel less stressed.
  • Follow a healthy lifestyle. Aim to exercise for about 30 minutes on most days of the week. You can also break it up into 5- or 10-minute chunks of time during the day. Exercise can positively affect mood and reduce stress. Follow a healthy diet to fuel your mind and body. Get enough sleep. And learn techniques to manage stress.
  • Surround yourself with positive people. Make sure those in your life are positive, supportive people you can depend on to give helpful advice and feedback. Negative people may increase your stress level and make you doubt your ability to manage stress in healthy ways.
  • Practice positive self-talk. Start by following one simple rule: Don't say anything to yourself that you wouldn't say to anyone else. Be gentle and encouraging with yourself. If a negative thought enters your mind, evaluate it rationally and respond with affirmations of what is good about you. Think about things you're thankful for in your life.

Here are some examples of negative self-talk and how you can apply a positive thinking twist to them:

Putting positive thinking into practice
Negative self-talk Positive thinking
I've never done it before. It's an opportunity to learn something new.
It's too complicated. I'll tackle it from a different angle.
I don't have the resources. Necessity is the mother of invention.
I'm too lazy to get this done. I couldn't fit it into my schedule, but I can re-examine some priorities.
There's no way it will work. I can try to make it work.
It's too radical a change. Let's take a chance.
No one bothers to communicate with me. I'll see if I can open the channels of communication.
I'm not going to get any better at this. I'll give it another try.

Practicing positive thinking every day

If you tend to have a negative outlook, don't expect to become an optimist overnight. But with practice, eventually your self-talk will contain less self-criticism and more self-acceptance. You may also become less critical of the world around you.

When your state of mind is generally optimistic, you're better able to handle everyday stress in a more constructive way. That ability may contribute to the widely observed health benefits of positive thinking.

Regular positive thinking will help you develop inner peace, success, improved relationships, better health, happiness and personal satisfaction. Positive thinking can be your key to success!

You may not think so, but regular positive thinking will help you deal with daily challenges of life more smoothly, and will lead the future to be brighter and more promising.

Positive thinking is contagious. People around you detect your mental moods and are affected accordingly. Think about happiness, good health and success and people will more likely appreciate you and want to be around you, because they enjoy the atmosphere that a positive attitude produces.

In order for positive thinking to produce results, you need to develop a positive attitude toward life, expect a successful outcome of whatever you do and take action to do what is necessary to ensure your success.

Effective positive thinking that brings results is much more than just repeating a few positive words or telling yourself that everything is going to be all right. It has to be your primary mental attitude. It is not enough to think positively for a few moments, and then letting fears and lack of belief enter your mind. Some effort and inner work are necessary.

Are you really willing to change the way you think, to make a real inner change? Are you willing to develop a mental power that can positively affect you, your environment and the people around you?

Here are a few actions and suggestions to help you develop the power of positive thinking:

  • Stop with your negative attitude and speaking negative words about everything you talk about!
  • Use positive words while thinking and talking. Use phrases like, “I can,” “I am able,” “It is possible,” “It can be done,” etc.
  • Actively focus on thoughts of success, strength and happiness.
  • Try to disregard and ignore negative thoughts. Refuse to think such thoughts and substitute them with constructive good ideas.
  • In your conversation use words that suggest feelings and mental images of strength, happiness and success.
  • Before starting with any plan or action, visualize clearly in your mind its successful outcome.
  • Read at least one page of an inspiring book every day.
  • Surround yourself with people who think positively.
  • Watch movies that make you happy.
  • Sit and walk with your back straight. This will strengthen your confidence and inner strength.
  • Walk, swim or get moving in some other physical activity. This helps to develop a more positive attitude.

Think positive and expect favorable results and situations, even if your current situation is not what you want for the long term. In time, your positive mental attitude will help you to position your life situations and change them for the better.

The purpose of life is to be happy

By His Holiness the Dalai Lama

The basic source of all happiness is a sense of kindness and warm-heartedness towards others. We are all the same as human beings. We are born the same way, we die the same way, and we all want to lead happy lives.

The key to happiness is peace of mind. This is not something that can be bought. Inner peace has to be cultivated by each of us from within. All our religious traditions, despite whatever philosophical differences there may be among them, carry the same message of love and warm-heartedness that is the foundation of such peace of mind.

I sometimes wish that we were more like children, who are naturally open and accepting of others. Instead, as we grow up, we fail to nurture our natural potential and our sense of fundamental human values. We get caught up in secondary differences and tend to think in terms of 'us' and 'them'. Education can change this. We need to learn to distinguish the destructive nature of emotions like anger, fear and attachment, which disturb our peace of mind, from the positive qualities of compassion that are genuine sources of happiness.

I often ask myself what the purpose of life is. I conclude that it is to be happy. We have no guarantee of what will happen in the future, but we live in hope, which is what keeps us going. There is sometimes insufficient understanding of the difference between sensory consciousness and mental consciousness. The ultimate source of happiness a mental feeling of joy, and not a wealth of material goods. The sensory pleasure material things provide is generally short-lived. Such satisfaction does little to allay anxiety and fear. On the other hand, mental joy sustains itself.

Nowadays scientists too agree that our basic human nature is compassionate and warm-hearted because that is the way our lives begin. Without our mother's love and affection we would not have survived. Since we depend on other human beings for our own happiness, it is natural to feel warm-hearted towards them. Human beings are responsive. No matter how beautiful a flower may be, it won't react to my smile. But if I smile at another human being, she or he generally smiles in return, and even animals react positively.

Today, the world is mostly focussed on external development. However, ancient Indian traditions emphasize looking within to find the real source of joy. To be happy it is our minds we must transform. This is the basis of the longstanding traditions of ahimsa, doing no harm, and karuna, wishing others to be free from suffering.

Compassion, an active concern for others' well-being, is not only part of religion, it also belongs to our lives as human beings. From compassion we develop self-confidence; that brings inner strength, allowing us to act with transparency and candour. If a person is happier, his or her family is happier; if families are happy, neighbourhoods and nations will be happy. By each of us working to transform ourselves, we can change our human way of life and make this a century of compassion.

We must continually consider the oneness of humanity, remembering that we all want to be happy. And indeed, everyone has a right to a happy life. Along the way we may be faced with problems, but we must not lose hope. We must keep up our determination without being impatient to achieve quick results.

If you agree with anything I have written here, I hope you will follow it up in your day to day lives. As I have said before, if you want others to be happy, practise compassion, if you want to be happy, practise compassion.

10 Reasons Why Positivity is the Key to a Peaceful Life

Here are good reasons to use the key to positivity to access your inner peace..

Every day, positivity quietly influences our lives, shaping our feelings, actions, and reactions. I remember a time when I was feeling overwhelmed and stressed – I had hit rock bottom. But by adopting a positive mindset, I was able to transform that chaotic day into a time full of peace and productivity. This isn’t just motivational talk. It’s a practical approach to life that I, and many others, find essential for maintaining peace in a turbulent world.

10 Reasons That Positivity Brings More Peace to Your Life

Now that we understand the power of positivity let’s leap into the ten reasons why it can help you have a peaceful life. Each reason will explore how positivity can transform your life, from mental and physical health to relationships and productivity.

1 – Positivity Supports Better Mental Health

But how does this work?

Science  shows that positive thinking stimulates the growth of nerve connections, increases mental productivity, and enhances cognition. Therefore, continued positive thinking practices can lead to improved coping mechanisms. Besides that, you will experience a decreased likelihood of mental health disorders.

2 – Enhanced Physical Health

A positive outlook benefits the mind and has significant effects on the body. Optimism is associated with a plethora of health benefits.  Research  has consistently shown that happy people are healthier than their unhappy peers. Those who maintain a positive attitude may live longer and experience better health outcomes.

For instance,  studies  have linked a positive mindset to enhanced immunity and a lower risk of heart disease. This isn’t coincidental; optimism can lead to better health choices and a greater resilience against illnesses.

3 – Positivity Builds Stronger Relationships

Positive thinking creates an environment where collaboration and mutual respect can thrive in the workplace. Thus, this optimistic mindset leads to successful teamwork and networking.

4 – Greater Resilience

5 – increased productivity.

Positivity is directly linked to increased motivation and productivity. When you’re optimistic, your mind is energized, and your capacity for work increases. To maintain a positive outlook, practice gratitude every day. Set realistic goals. Break tasks into manageable steps and celebrate small victories along the way. This approach enhances efficiency and makes the journey more enjoyable, boosting overall productivity.

6 – Positivity and Better Decision Making

A positive disposition clears the fog of doubt and confusion, leading to clearer and more effective decision-making. When you’re positive, your mind is less clouded by fear or negativity, which allows for a better evaluation of facts and options. The relationship between emotional state and problem-solving is significant; a calm and optimistic mind can think more creatively and accurately assess situations, leading to smarter, more effective decisions.

7 – Enhanced Self-Esteem

Positivity fuels self-esteem and self-confidence. When you view yourself and your abilities in a positive light, this perception influences your actions and the outcomes of those actions. The feedback loop here is powerful: success breeds confidence, and confidence fosters a positive self-view, leading to further success. By maintaining a positive outlook, you set yourself up for a cycle of continuous improvement and achievement.

8 – Attract Even More Positivity

9 – emotional stability.

Positivity is a cornerstone of emotional stability. It helps maintain a balanced perspective, even when facing life’s challenges. To sustain positivity during tough times, practice mindfulness. Be sure to focus on the present moment rather than worrying about the past or future. Developing a routine that includes exercise, reading, or meditation can also stabilize your mood and keep your outlook positive. This emotional stability allows you to approach challenges with a clear mind and a positive attitude, increasing your chances of overcoming them.

10 – Positivity Brings Long-Term Happiness

Ten tips for building positive behaviors to have a more peaceful life.

Cultivating a life marked by peace and positivity isn’t just about adjusting your mindset; it involves building specific behaviors reinforcing this outlook. Here are several practical tips to help you develop habits that foster positivity and peace in your daily life:

1 – Start with Self-Awareness:

2 – establish a morning routine:.

Begin each day with a routine that sets a positive tone. This might include meditation, a short walk, reading something inspirational, or enjoying a quiet cup of tea. A consistent, peaceful start can significantly influence the rest of your day.

3 – Practice Mindfulness:

4 – set realistic goals:.

Goals give you direction and a sense of purpose, which are crucial for a positive outlook. Set achievable goals and break them down into manageable steps to avoid feeling overwhelmed.

5 – Cultivate Gratitude:

6 – connect with others:.

Build and maintain strong relationships. Social connections are vital for emotional support and can greatly contribute to a positive and peaceful life. Make time for family and friends, and engage in activities that strengthen these bonds.

7 – Limit Exposure to Negativity:

8 – engage in physical activity:.

Regular exercise is not only good for the body but also for the mind. It releases endorphins, which have natural stress-relieving properties. Find an activity you enjoy, be it yoga, cycling, or dancing, and make it a part of your routine.

9 – Learn to Respond, Not React:

10 – celebrate small wins:.

Acknowledge your achievements, even if they feel tiny. These celebrations can boost your confidence and reinforce your positive behaviors.

Introduction To Positive Thinking: What It Is And Why It Matters

Best prepping gear and survival supplies

Imagine yourself standing at the edge of a vast ocean, watching as the waves crash against the shore. You can choose to focus on the negative aspects: the cold water, the strong winds, and the potential dangers.

Or, you can choose to focus on the positive: the beauty of nature, the sound of seagulls overhead, and the sense of peace that comes with being surrounded by something so much bigger than yourself.

Positive thinking is like standing at that ocean’s edge and choosing to focus on what brings you joy and fulfillment in life. It’s about looking for opportunities instead of obstacles, finding solutions instead of dwelling on problems.

And while it may seem like a simple concept, it’s one that has profound effects on our lives- from our mental health to our personal relationships to our professional success.

In this article, we’ll explore what positive thinking is all about and why it matters more now than ever before.

By focusing on the good in any situation, you are better able to manage stress and anxiety, which can have a significant impact on your overall well-being. Additionally, when you approach tasks with a positive attitude, you’re more likely to be successful because you’re confident in your abilities and open to new opportunities.

Overall, adopting a positive mindset can help you live a more fulfilling life both personally and professionally.

The Benefits of Positive Thinking

When you focus on positive thinking, you open the door to a range of benefits that can improve your mental and emotional wellbeing. By shifting your mindset and finding the good in situations, you’ll experience a boost in confidence and self-esteem.

Additionally, positive thinking can lead to stronger relationships with others and even physical health benefits. Embrace positivity today for a brighter tomorrow.

Improved Mental and Emotional Wellbeing

By focusing on the good in your life and changing your mindset, you can experience a significant boost in your mental and emotional wellbeing. Practicing positive thinking techniques can help alleviate stress and anxiety, increase optimism, and improve overall mood. These benefits aren’t limited to a specific group of people; anyone can incorporate positive thinking into their daily routines.

One way to practice positive thinking is through affirmations. Affirmations are short statements that focus on positivity and self-empowerment. Repeat these statements regularly throughout the day to remind yourself of your capabilities and worthiness.

Another technique is visualization, which involves creating mental images of positive outcomes or situations that bring joy and contentment. Incorporating these practices into your daily routine can gradually shift your mindset towards one that’s more optimistic and resilient.

Boosted Confidence and Self-Esteem

Feeling more confident and having higher self-esteem can lead to a happier and more fulfilling life. When you have confidence in yourself, you’re able to face challenges head-on without being bogged down by self-doubt.

Positive thinking can play a significant role in boosting your confidence levels. One way of doing this is through positive affirmations- repeating uplifting phrases to yourself daily. By consistently telling yourself that you’re capable and deserving of success, you’ll begin to believe it, leading to a boost in confidence.

Another way of boosting your confidence is by practicing self-care. Taking care of your physical, emotional, and mental well-being is essential for building up your confidence levels. This could be as simple as getting enough sleep or taking time out for activities that make you happy.

When you prioritize self-care, you demonstrate to yourself that you value your own worth and deserve the best possible care. This attitude towards oneself can help create positive momentum towards accomplishing goals with greater ease and conviction.

Incorporating these practices into daily life may seem daunting at first but taking small steps each day will eventually lead to an upward spiral of confidence-building positivity!

Stronger Relationships

To build stronger relationships, you need to invest time and effort in nurturing them, just like a garden needs regular watering and care to bloom. It takes more than just spending time with people; it requires building trust and effective communication.

Here are five things you can do to strengthen your relationships:

  • Listen actively: Pay attention to what the other person is saying without interrupting or judging them.
  • Communicate effectively: Be clear about what you mean and avoid using vague language that could be misinterpreted.
  • Show empathy: Put yourself in the other person’s shoes and try to understand their perspective.
  • Build trust: Keep your promises, be honest, and maintain confidentiality when appropriate.
  • Be supportive: Offer help when needed, celebrate successes together, and show that you care.

By doing these things consistently, you will become someone others can rely on.

Strong relationships are built on a foundation of trust and effective communication. When people feel heard, understood, and supported by those around them, they are more likely to open up and deepen their connections with others.

So take the time to nurture your relationships today – you never know where they might lead tomorrow!

Physical Health Benefits

Improving your physical health can have numerous benefits, such as increased energy and a stronger immune system. In fact, studies have shown that positive thinking can improve your physical health by reducing stress levels and promoting better sleep.

When you think positively, you release endorphins that help to boost your mood and increase your energy levels, which can lead to an overall improvement in your physical well-being.

Additionally, when you practice positive thinking, you’re more likely to take care of yourself physically by engaging in healthy behaviors such as eating a balanced diet and getting regular exercise. This can help reduce the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes.

By focusing on the positive aspects of life and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, you’ll not only feel better physically but mentally as well. Incorporating positive thinking into your daily routine can be a simple yet effective way to improve both your physical and mental health.

The Science Behind Positive Thinking

When it comes to positive thinking, the science behind it is fascinating. Your brain plays a crucial role in how you think and feel. By focusing on positivity, you can activate the power of neuroplasticity – your brain’s ability to change and adapt.

This leads to an increase in dopamine levels, which can improve mood and motivation.

The Brain and Positive Thinking

The brain loves positive thinking because it releases feel-good chemicals that boost our mood. When we think positively, our brains release dopamine and serotonin, which are neurotransmitters responsible for feelings of happiness and contentment. It’s like a reward system for the brain – the more positive thoughts we have, the more these chemicals are released, creating a cycle of positivity.

But it’s not just about feeling good in the moment. The repetitive practice of positive thinking can lead to actual rewiring of neural pathways in our brains. This means that over time, positive thinking becomes easier and more natural as our brains become accustomed to this way of processing information.

With consistent effort, we can train our brains to default to positivity instead of negativity when faced with challenges or setbacks. So make a conscious effort to focus on the positives in your life – your brain will thank you for it!

Benefits of Positive Thinking:

  • Improved mental health
  • Increased resilience

Remember, practicing positivity is not about ignoring or denying negative emotions and experiences. Rather, it’s about acknowledging them while also choosing to focus on the good whenever possible. By doing so, you’re laying a foundation for greater happiness and fulfillment in life. Don’t be afraid to start small by simply taking note of one positive thing each day – every step counts towards a brighter future!

The Power of Neuroplasticity

Now that you understand how positive thinking affects the brain, it’s time to dive deeper into the power of neuroplasticity.

Neuroplasticity is the brain’s ability to change and adapt in response to new experiences, thoughts, and behaviors. This means that our brains are not fixed or static but constantly evolving and capable of forming new neural pathways.

Neuroplasticity applications can be used to develop positive thinking habits by rewiring the brain through repetition and mindfulness. Some examples include visualization exercises, gratitude journaling, affirmations, and meditation practices.

These techniques have been proven to create structural changes in the brain over time, leading to increased well-being and a more positive outlook on life. By incorporating these practices into your daily routine, you can train your brain to focus on the good things in life and shift away from negative thought patterns.

The Role of Dopamine

You might be surprised to learn that one of the key players in neuroplasticity and positive brain rewiring is the neurotransmitter dopamine. Dopamine release plays a crucial role in regulating mood, motivation, and reward-seeking behavior. This neurotransmitter is responsible for feelings of pleasure and satisfaction, and it can motivate you to pursue goals that bring you joy.

When it comes to positive thinking, dopamine release has a significant impact on your ability to cultivate a positive mindset. By focusing on positive thoughts and experiences, you can activate the reward centers in your brain that trigger dopamine release. This can create a positive feedback loop where you feel good about yourself and your life, which motivates you to continue seeking out positivity.

Ultimately, understanding the neurotransmitter function of dopamine is essential for anyone who wants to cultivate a more positive outlook on life.

The Importance of Mindfulness and Gratitude

Feeling grateful and being present in the moment can have a significant impact on our overall well-being. Mindful practices, such as meditation and deep breathing, can help us become more aware of our thoughts and feelings. By observing them without judgment or attachment, we learn to respond instead of react. This helps us manage stress better and build resilience.

Gratitude journaling is another great way to cultivate positive thinking. It involves writing down things you’re thankful for every day. By focusing on the good in your life, you shift your attention away from negative thoughts and emotions. This practice has been shown to improve mood, increase happiness levels, and even boost physical health by reducing inflammation in the body.

So take a few minutes each day to reflect on what you’re grateful for – it could make all the difference!

How to Cultivate a Positive Mindset

When it comes to cultivating a positive mindset, it’s important to keep in mind that progress takes time and effort.

One of the most effective ways to start is by establishing a daily practice of gratitude. This could be as simple as writing down three things you’re grateful for each morning or evening. By focusing on the good in your life, you’ll begin to shift your mindset towards positivity.

Another key aspect of cultivating a positive mindset is making small but intentional mindset shifts throughout your day. For example, instead of viewing challenges as obstacles, try reframing them as opportunities for growth and learning. Or, when faced with negative self-talk, challenge those thoughts with positive affirmations or evidence that contradicts them.

Over time, these small changes can add up and lead to significant shifts in how you view yourself and the world around you. Remember: cultivating a positive mindset is an ongoing journey, but one that’s well worth the effort!

Overcoming Obstacles to Positive Thinking

Sometimes it can be challenging to maintain a positive mindset, especially when faced with obstacles that seem insurmountable. One of the biggest barriers to positive thinking is negative self-talk. This involves constantly criticizing and doubting yourself, which can lead to feelings of inadequacy and hopelessness.

To overcome this obstacle, you must learn how to recognize negative self-talk when it occurs and challenge those thoughts with positive affirmations.

Another way to stay positive during difficult times is by focusing on what you can control rather than what you cannot. It’s easy to get caught up in worrying about things that are out of your hands, but this only leads to increased stress and anxiety.

Instead, try to shift your focus towards the things that you do have control over, such as your reactions and attitudes towards situations. By adopting a proactive approach and focusing on the positive aspects of any situation, no matter how small they may be, you can train your mind to think positively even in the toughest of times.

Using Positive Thinking in Your Personal Life

You can transform your personal life by harnessing the power of positive thinking and making it a daily habit. Applying techniques that promote positivity can help you overcome challenges and improve overall well-being.

Incorporating habits such as gratitude journaling, mindfulness meditation, and visualization exercises can have a profound impact on your mindset. By regularly expressing gratitude for the good things in your life, you shift your focus from what’s lacking to what’s present. This simple habit can increase feelings of happiness and contentment.

Mindfulness meditation cultivates awareness of the present moment, reducing stress and anxiety while promoting emotional regulation. Visualization exercises involve mentally creating positive outcomes for future events or situations, allowing you to approach them with confidence and optimism.

Making these practices a part of your daily routine can help you cultivate a more positive outlook on life. By intentionally choosing to focus on the good rather than dwelling on negativity, you empower yourself to navigate challenges with greater ease and grace. Start small by incorporating one or two techniques into your day-to-day life, then gradually build upon them over time for lasting change.

Using Positive Thinking in Your Professional Life

Incorporating positivity into your professional life can lead to increased productivity, improved relationships with colleagues, and a more fulfilling career.

When you use positive thinking in job search, it helps you approach the process with confidence and optimism. You’re able to focus on your strengths and achievements rather than dwelling on past failures or rejections. This mindset can also help you make better decisions during the job search process as you aren’t clouded by negative emotions.

Positive thinking in workplace communication is another way to enhance your professional life. When you communicate positively with colleagues, it creates a more collaborative and supportive work environment. It fosters healthy working relationships that can lead to better teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Additionally, positive communication can help you build a stronger professional network that may open doors for future career opportunities. By incorporating positivity into your professional life, you can create a fulfilling career path that brings out the best in yourself and those around you.

The Role of Positive Thinking in Society

Imagine a world where people approach challenges with an optimistic outlook, fostering collaboration and progress through the power of positivity. This isn’t just a utopian dream; positive thinking has the potential to transform society for the better.

Positive thinking in politics can help leaders see beyond their differences and work towards common goals that benefit all citizens. By focusing on what can be achieved rather than what can’t, political leaders can inspire hope and confidence in their constituents.

Positive thinking also plays a crucial role in education, as it empowers students to believe in themselves and their ability to learn. When teachers adopt a positive mindset, they create an environment where students feel supported and encouraged to take risks and grow academically.

By emphasizing strengths rather than weaknesses, educators can build self-esteem and resilience in their students, helping them succeed both inside and outside the classroom. Ultimately, positive thinking has the power to shape society by fostering collaboration, innovation, and progress at all levels.

Positive Thinking

How to practice positive thinking and change your life.

' src=

Want to expand your potential? It all starts with the thoughts that we have and our self-talk (the stories we tell to ourselves). Negative and limiting beliefs will contract our potential; positive, and affirming thoughts will help it expand.

“Change your thoughts and you change your world.” ― Norman Vincent Peale

This is a quote from Norman Vicent Peale, the author of the book The Power of Positive Thinking . You’ve probably tried at some point to shift things around yet, the results were not the ones you expected.

In this article, I’ll share basic concepts of positive thinking, the common stories that people tell themselves that limit their potential, how the power of positive thinking will improve your life and ways in which you can start applying positive thinking in your life so you can start seeing a positive difference in your life.

Table of Contents

What is positive thinking, negative thought to get rid of, how to practice positive thinking in your life, final thoughts, more positive vibes.

Positive thinking doesn’t mean that you live in a world of rainbows and unicorns, where you ignore life’s less pleasant situations. Positive thinking means that you respond to uncomfortable or unpleasant situations in a more positive and optimistic way.

“Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will.” — Zig Ziglar

Our mind is our greatest tool and ally or opponent when it comes to achieving our success goals. We all have a constant flow of thoughts in our minds, which is basically the self-talk that runs our lives. If the majority of our thoughts are negative, it means that our outlook on life is more pessimistic. On the other hand, if our predominant thoughts are positive, we are optimistic.

A study conducted by Barbara Fredrickson, a positive psychology researcher at the University of North Carolina, indicated that people should cultivate positive emotions and thoughts in their own lives and in the lives of those around them; not just because doing so makes them feel good in the moment, but also because doing so transforms people for the better and sets them on paths toward flourishing and healthy longevity. [1]

When positive emotions are in short supply, people get stuck.

“You cannot have a positive life and a negative mind.” — Joyce Meyer

Many experts agree that those who cultivate a positive attitude greatly enhance their chances of professional advancement. Here are some of the most common benefits of positive thinking on your career:

  • You will engage with others more effectively and get along better with your colleagues.
  • You will get support more easily for your initiatives.
  • You will become a better role model as positive attitude is a magnet.
  • You will inspire others around you to shift toward the positive.
  • You will be more productive.
  • You will see possibility where others only see problems.
  • You will see your achievements and accomplishments rather than focusing on your failures.
  • You will manage stress at work more efficiently.
  • You will become more resilient and bounce back faster.

The good news is if you think you’re not that optimistic, positive thinking skills can be learned!

As I mentioned before, the stories we tell ourselves will determine our experiences and could open or close doors to opportunities we have both personally and professionally.

When we choose to tell ourselves stories using the lens of negative or limiting self-talk , we will limit our potential. Here are some of the most common stories:

“I Can’t”

When people are facing a big decision like applying for a promotion, considering a career change or even leaving a job to do work that feels more fulfilling, they will come up with a lot of reasons why they can’t make that decision. And these reasons will feel absolutely authentic and true.

But if they allowed themselves to dig a little deeper and see what’s behind the “I can’t” , they would find that one of the true main reasons behind it is fear – fear of stepping outside of their comfort zone, fear of taking a risk, fear of not having what it takes, fear of losing the security of what’s known.

This could stem from previous events. But here’s the thing: just because we had bad events that happened to us in the past, it doesn’t mean that it will be pervasive and that making a new decision will undermine everything we do.

“I Don’t Have Time”

A quote by Steven Covey says,

“Most of us spend too much time on what is urgent and not enough time on what is important.”

Many people struggle with time management and the truth is that we can’t manage time. We can, however, manage our choices, priorities and energy . Maybe they’re telling themselves “I don’t have time” because deep down, they don’t want change due to fear. Or maybe they need to get clarity on how satisfied they are with their situation, and how that’s affecting their capacity to move forward.

We all need to take personal and energetic responsibility because at the end of the day, the lives that we’re living now are the direct results of our own creation.

“It Can Work for Others, Not for Me”

This thought comes from thinking that “They are not enough”. By believing this, they are catastrophizing and anticipating the worst without even giving the opportunity a try. Fear of failure is behind it. They could be thinking about how their life would change and what would other people say or think of them if they failed.

When they think “It can work for others, not for me”, it really relates to low self-esteem . But even if they don’t have the skills or tools to achieve what they want now, they are always good enough and worthy of what they want.

The truth is that, we all face fear of failure at some point, it’s natural. But we have to understand that there is no learning if there’s no failing. Failing is part of success and growth. We just have to face the fear, take a step forward and be open to see the lessons from the experience or situation.

When we start to have negative thoughts, it can be hard to stop them. We have all been there at some point. Shifting our focus to positive thoughts is the only way to avoid going down a spiral that will not bring positive results.

Here are some of the things I have done to shift my negative thoughts that you can also try:

1. Meditate

Meditation helps to reduce stress and anxiety levels and will help you stay in the present moment and find peace within. Meditation is a great practice to have in the morning, so you can start your day grounded and present.

If you have never meditated and would like to give it a try, here’s a beginner’s guide: The 5-minute Guide to Meditation: Anywhere, Anytime

2. Start the Day on a Positive Note

Besides meditation, reading or listening to something inspirational helps set the tone to the rest of your day:

3. Create a List of at Least 3 Things You’re Grateful For

4. Surround Yourself with Positive People

If you ever feel stuck in a negative loop, call someone you trust — someone who can help you put things into perspective and will not feed the negativity.

You can spot out the differences between positive people and negative people easily. Stick with the positive people and get rid of the negative ones.

5. Shift Negative Self-Talk into Positive Self-Talk

Our negative self-talk can be so engrained in us that it can be hard to become aware of it. It’s easy to dwell in our mistakes and beat ourselves up.

When you catch yourself doing this, just pause for a couple of minutes, take a couple of deep breaths and start replacing those negative stories with more positive ones.

For example: replace “I’m so bad at doing _____ with “I’m getting better and better everyday”, or “I know that the more I practice, the better I’ll get at it”, or “It didn’t work out as planned but if I try again, I will see improvement”.

Here’re more ideas: 15 Ways to Practice Positive Self-Talk for Success

Here’s the thing:

No one is perfect, we are all peers in this human experience, and we’re always learning.

The only thing we can do is learn from our mistakes and keep moving forward.

If you tend to have a negative outlook, don’t expect to become an optimist overnight. I can assure you that with practice and consistency, your self-talk will start shifting to more self-acceptance and acceptance of others.

Additionally, when you’re optimistic, it will be easier to handle stress in a more constructive and productive way.

Speech on Power Of Positive Thinking

Positive thinking holds a magical power that can turn your life around. It’s like a key that unlocks endless opportunities and brightens your path.

By embracing optimism, you can face challenges with a smile. So, let’s explore the wonders of positive thinking together.

1-minute Speech on Power Of Positive Thinking

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good day to you all! Today, I want to share some thoughts on a powerful tool that everyone possesses, yet not everyone uses. It’s the power of positive thinking.

Positive thinking is like a magic potion. It can transform the ordinary into extraordinary. When we think positively, we focus on our strengths, not our weaknesses. We see opportunities, not obstacles. We believe in our dreams, not our doubts. It’s like seeing the world through a rainbow-colored lens, where everything is brighter and more beautiful.

The power of positive thinking is not just about feeling good. It’s about creating good. It’s like planting a seed in your mind. If you water it with positive thoughts, it will grow into a strong, healthy tree. But if you feed it with negative thoughts, it will wither and die. That’s why it’s so important to choose your thoughts wisely.

In conclusion, the power of positive thinking is immense. It can change your life, and the lives of those around you. So let’s embrace it. Let’s think positive, be positive, and spread positivity. Because a positive mind is a powerful mind. Thank you.

2-minute Speech on Power Of Positive Thinking

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, today I am here to talk about a magical power we all possess. This power can change our lives, make us happier, and help us achieve our dreams. This power is the “Power of Positive Thinking.”

Imagine a day when you wake up, and the first thought in your mind is, “Today is going to be a great day!” This thought is like a seed. If you water it with belief and sunshine of positivity, it grows into a beautiful tree of happiness. This is the first aspect of positive thinking – it sets the tone for your day, your week, your month, and eventually, your life.

Now, let’s think about a cloudy day. The sky is grey, and it seems like the sun is hiding. But we all know that behind those clouds, the sun is still shining. It’s the same with our minds. Sometimes, problems act like clouds, but positive thinking is like the sun, always shining behind them. Positive thinking doesn’t mean ignoring life’s troubles. It means understanding that hardships are temporary, and the sun will shine again.

Let’s talk about dreams. We all have dreams, big and small. But sometimes, they seem too big, too far away. This is where positive thinking steps in. It acts like a ladder, helping us climb towards our dreams. When we think positively, we believe in ourselves. We believe that we can reach our dreams, no matter how high they seem. And when we believe, we start to take steps towards them.

Lastly, positive thinking is like a magic potion for our health. When we think positively, we feel happy. Our bodies feel light, our hearts feel joyous. It’s like a medicine without any bitter taste. Studies show that positive thinking can even make us live longer!

So, how can we think positively? It’s simple. We can start our day with a happy thought. We can look at problems as challenges to be solved. We can believe in our dreams. We can learn from our failures. And we can always remember, happiness is a choice.

How to Practice Positive Thinking

Potential pitfalls of positive thinking, frequently asked questions.

Do you tend to see the glass as half empty or half full? You have probably heard that question plenty of times. Your answer relates directly to the concept of positive thinking and whether you have a positive or negative outlook on life. Positive thinking plays an important role in positive psychology , a subfield devoted to the study of what makes people happy and fulfilled.

Research has found that positive thinking can aid in stress management and even plays an important role in your overall health and well-being. It can help combat feelings of low self-esteem, improve physical health, and help brighten your overall outlook on life.

This article discusses what positive thinking is and the health benefits of being positive. It also explores some of the strategies you can use to become a more positive thinker.

Positive thinking means approaching life's challenges with a positive outlook. It doesn't mean seeing the world through rose-colored lenses by ignoring or glossing over the negative aspects of life.

Positive thinking does not necessarily mean avoiding difficult situations. Instead, positive thinking means making the most of potential obstacles, trying to see the best in other people, and viewing yourself and your abilities in a positive light.

Some researchers, including positive psychologist Martin Seligman , frame positive thinking in terms of explanatory style. Your explanatory style is how you explain why events happened.

  • Optimistic explanatory style : People with an optimistic explanatory style tend to give themselves credit when good things happen and typically blame outside forces for bad outcomes. They also tend to see negative events as temporary and atypical.
  • Pessimistic explanatory style : People with a pessimistic explanatory style often blame themselves when bad things happen, but fail to give themselves adequate credit for successful outcomes. They also have a tendency to view negative events as expected and lasting. As you can imagine, blaming yourself for events outside of your control or viewing these unfortunate events as a persistent part of your life can have a detrimental impact on your state of mind.

Positive thinkers are more apt to use an optimistic explanatory style, but the way in which people attribute events can also vary depending upon the exact situation. For example, a person who is generally a positive thinker might use a more pessimistic explanatory style in particularly challenging situations, such as at work or at school.

While there are many factors that determine whether a person has a positive outlook, the way that they explain the events of their life, known as their explanatory style, plays an important role.

Positive Psychology vs. Positive Thinking

While the terms "positive thinking" and "positive psychology" are sometimes used interchangeably, it is important to understand that they are not the same thing. Positive thinking is about looking at things from a positive point of view. It is a type of thinking that focuses on maintaining a positive, optimistic attitude. Positive psychology is a branch of psychology that studies the effects of optimism, what causes it, and when it is best utilized.

Health Benefits of Positive Thinking

In recent years, the so-called "power of positive thinking" has gained a great deal of attention thanks to self-help books such as "The Secret." While these pop-psychology books often tout positive thinking or philosophies like the law of attraction as a sort of psychological panacea, empirical research has found that there are many very real health benefits linked to positive thinking and optimistic attitudes.

Positive thinking is linked to a wide range of health benefits, including:

  • Better stress management and coping skills
  • Enhanced psychological health
  • Greater resistance to the common cold
  • Increased physical well-being
  • Longer life span
  • Lower rates of depression
  • Reduced risk of cardiovascular disease-related death

One study of 1,558 older adults found that positive thinking could also reduce frailty during old age.

A 2018 study published in the Journal of Aging Research found that having a positive mental attitude was linked to decreased mortality over a 35-year period. People who had a more positive outlook were also more likely to get regular physical exercise, avoid smoking, eat a healthier diet, and get more quality sleep.

Clearly, there are many benefits of positive thinking . But why, exactly, does positive thinking have such a strong impact on physical and mental health ?

One theory is that people who think positively tend to be less affected by stress. Research suggests that having more positive automatic thoughts helps people become more resilient in the face of life's stressful events. People who had high levels of positive thinking were more likely to walk away from stressful life events with a higher sense of the meaningfulness of life.

Another possibility is that people who think positively tend to live healthier lives in general; they may exercise more, follow a more nutritious diet, and avoid unhealthy behaviors.

While you might be more prone to negative thinking, there are strategies that you can use to become a more positive thinker. Practicing these strategies regularly can help you get in the habit of maintaining a more positive outlook on life.

  • Notice your thoughts : Start paying attention to the type of thoughts you have each day. If you notice that many of them are negative, make a conscious effort to reframe how you are thinking in a more positive way.
  • Write in a gratitude journal : Practicing gratitude can have a range of positive benefits and it can help you learn to develop a better outlook. Experiencing grateful thoughts helps people to feel more optimistic.
  • Use positive self-talk : How you talk to yourself can play an important role in shaping your outlook. Studies have shown that shifting to more positive self-talk can have a positive impact on your emotions and how you respond to stress.

While there are many benefits to thinking positively, there are actually times when more realistic thinking is more advantageous. For example, in some situations, negative thinking can actually lead to more accurate decisions and outcomes.

Some research has found that negative thinking and moods can actually help people make better, more accurate judgments.

However, research suggests that realistic optimism might be the ideal. The results of a 2020 study published in the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin revealed that people who have mistaken expectations, whether those expectations are optimistic or pessimistic, tend to fare worse in terms of mental health when compared to realists.

The authors of the study suggest that the disappointment that optimists experience when their high hopes are not realized can have a negative impact on well-being. This doesn't mean that people should strive to be pessimistic thinkers. since studies indicate that people with a negative outlook tend to fare the worst. Instead, having a generally positive outlook that is focused on realistic expectations may be the best approach.

In some cases, inappropriately applied positive thinking can cross the line into what is known as toxic positivity . This involves insisting on maintaining a positive mindset no matter how upsetting, dire, or damaging a situation might be. This type of excessive positivity can impede authentic communication and cause people to experience feelings of shame or guilt if they struggle to maintain such an overly positive outlook.

Positive thinking can have pitfalls at times. While it is important to have an overall positive outlook, unrealistically high expectations can lead to disappointment. Being unable to accept any negative emotions, known as toxic positivity, can also have a negative effect on mental well-being.

A Word From Verywell

Even if you are not a natural-born optimist, there are things you can do to learn how to think more positively and become a positive thinker . One of the first steps is to focus on your own inner monologue and to pay attention to your self-talk.

Strategies that can improve your positive thinking include noticing your thoughts and making a conscious effort to shift from negative thoughts to more positive one. Practicing positive self-talk and practicing gratitude can also be helpful ways to start having a more positive outlook.

Positive thinking is important because it can have a beneficial impact on both physical and mental well-being. People who maintain a more positive outlook on life cope better with stress, have better immunity, and have a lower risk of premature death. Positive thinking also helps promote greater feelings of happiness and overall satisfaction with life.

Positive thinking has been shown to help people live healthier, happier lives. When they have a positive outlook, they are more likely to engage in healthy behaviors such as exercising, eating healthy, and getting plenty of rest. Downsides of positive thinking include the risk of forming overly high expectations that result in disappointment and being affected by toxic positivity.

Practicing mindfulness can be a way to build self-awareness and become more conscious of how your negative thoughts affect your moods and behaviors. As you become better at identifying negative thought patterns, you can then take steps to shift into a more positive mindset. Actively replacing negative thoughts with positive ones can help you eventually learn to become a more positive thinker.

Positive Thinking – The Key to a Happy Life

Yelena Hopper

Yelena Hopper

Who wants to lead a happy and successful life? Everyone. You work hard so that you can achieve your dreams, and enjoy a happy life with your friends and family. Yet, only a few of your friends get what they want, while the rest of you don’t. Do you know why? Negative thinking. Period.

Let us find out what negative thinking is.

What is Negative Thinking?

Whenever you are in a problem, when you anticipate the worst, it is negative thinking. In this day and age, we often encounter problems and stressful situations. We experience several negative emotions like anger, guilt, anxiety, sadness day in and day out. That also means, we get consumed by negative thoughts frequently.

Negative thoughts lead to worry and stress. Stress messes up your immunity, which helps you to resist diseases and infections. When your immunity gets affected, you get susceptible to diseases. From asthma to cardio vascular diseases, depression to diabetes, obesity to cancer, you become vulnerable to several deadly diseases. Your thoughts affect your health . Habits like negative self-talk lead to the vicious cycle of self-doubt and low self-esteem. And eventually your mental as well as physical well-being gets hampered. Also when you experience negative thoughts, you become more vulnerable to addictions. This in turn, hampers your physical and mental health further. All of this leads to suffering and unhappiness.

Negative Thinking → Stress → Unhappiness

I don’t want to be unhappy. Tell me how I can lead a healthy and happy life.

What is Positive Thinking?

Focusing on the bright side of the problem is Positive Thinking. A positive thinker stresses on achieving health, happiness and success. He knows where his strength lies. And he is capable of utilizing his strengths properly. When in problem, he knows that he can overcome it successfully.

When you change your outlook towards life, everything falls into place. It is true when they say life is ten person of what happens to you and ninety percent of how you react to it. The power is in your hands. Only you can change your life. Whenever you face a stressful situation, if you focus on your strength and put your best foot forward, you can turn the tables anytime. All you have to do is change the way you think. If you believe in yourself, you can overcome any hurdle. Never let others overpower you. If you are failing at something; take a deep breath and try to analyze the situation. Listen to constructive criticism only. All of this will help you to understand your strengths as well as your weaknesses. Then, use your strengths to win over your weaknesses. This in turn will help you to come up with a proper solution to your problem. Eventually, you will get what you want and enjoy a happy and successful life.

Positive Thinking→ Achieve your goal → Enjoy a successful Life

Okay, I understood what positive thinking is. Tell me how I can include positive thinking into my life.

How to think positively?

· Befriend positive thinkers : Make friends who practice positive thinking. It helps when you interact with people who keep a positive outlook in life.

· Distract yourself : If you experience the flow of negative thoughts, opt for a distraction. Immerse yourself in something else. Listen to loud music or practice aerobics. This will help you to get rid of negative thoughts.

· Imagine positive change : Imagine or visualize positive and happy situations only.

· Smile often : It is true when they say laughter keeps diseases at bay. Smile often, smile more. It helps.

· Write positive affirmations : Create positive affirmations for yourself and write them on a notebook regularly. It helps you to think positively.

· Be happy : No matter what situation you are in, try to be happy. Happiness really matters .

· Exercise : Exercising makes you fit. A healthy body helps you to build a positive self-image. This in turn helps you to gain confidence and acquire a positive attitude.

The Power of Positive Speech

Part 1: change your speech, change your mindset. it's so simple..

Posted October 8, 2020 | Reviewed by Lybi Ma

With everything going on in our country right now, I have decided to share a series on “Positive Speech.” People need more positivity right now. There is a slew of words people use in their everyday lives that are dis -empowering. My goal, with this series, is to get you to shift toward empowering speech.

One of my favorite quotes is by Henry Ford: Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right . Repeat the saying to yourself and think about it for a minute. If you “believe you can,” you are optimistically looking at something, whatever it may be in that moment and, by simply saying “you can,” you will shift an “impossibility” to a possibility. However, if you “believe you can’t,” then, sadly, you just closed the door to the possibility of being able to or, at the very least, you have put up a formidable barrier to being able to accomplish whatever it is you are saying “you can’t” do. Either way, you are right. It’s that simple.

I have shared Henry Ford’s sage words with students on the firearms range, during therapy sessions, and with colleagues and friends when they have all been experiencing doubt. I tell them that by saying you “can’t” do something, you are already doubting yourself, throwing up the white flag, closing the door, and locking it. Why would you do this? Ugh. I get frustrated sometimes about this. It’s not that you can't . Even if you really and truly “can’t” do something (e.g. fly an AH-64 Apache Helicopter), there is always a different and more positive way to express that.

Confession. I have a visceral reaction when I hear someone utter, “I can’t” in any context. It literally makes me cringe or, more often, I close my eyes, shake my head, and or scrunch up my face. The word can’t is ugly, it’s disempowering, it’s defeating, and it’s not part of my vocabulary—at least, not since I recognized how negative it is.

And, it’s not just in situations when people are doubting themselves. People use “can’t” in response to everyday questions, such as:

  • Hey, do you want to hang out Friday night? No, I can’t.
  • Would you mind taking me to the airport tomorrow? Sorry, I can’t.
  • Can you float me some cash until my next paycheck? Um, I can’t.

It’s not that you can't ; you actually can do all of those things. However, instead of being honest, you choose the icky “I can’t” as your default answer. There are so many ways these questions can be answered in a more positive and/or honest way:

  • Hey, do you want to hang out Friday night? No thanks. I have other plans. Maybe another night.
  • Would you mind taking me to the airport tomorrow? I’m working tomorrow. If you change your ticket, or there’s a delay, I could leave work as early as 4 PM.
  • Can you float me some cash until my next paycheck? Oh gosh, I am short on cash this month and don’t want to stress myself out.

There is another perspective as well. Maybe you are just not up for the task or you are not willing to do the thing(s) being asked of you. It’s better to be honest about whatever is being asked vs. saying, “I can’t”.

  • Hey, do you want to hang out Friday night? I am just not up for hanging out this weekend. Maybe another day/week (this is an honest answer).
  • Would you mind taking me to the airport tomorrow? I am slammed at work and me leaving to do something personal is too stressful right now (this is essentially saying you don’t want to do this in an honest way that 100 percent supports your answer).
  • Can you float me some cash until my next paycheck? I have a personal rule of not lending money to friends (here, you are saying you aren’t willing to lend this person money. By sharing your “personal rule,” although maybe a bit awkward, you lay a foundation. That person will, hopefully, never ask to borrow money again).

Responding honestly, in a positive way, is not just empowering, it is freeing. Okay, so it might be uncomfortable at first for some of you but I promise it gets easier and it feels great.

The moral: Words reinforce your thinking. Positive thinking is reinforced by positive speech and vice versa. Your words create your destiny.

Today, remove the word “ can't ” from your speech. I am confident you can do this. Let me know how it goes.
