Master the essentials of writing, and become the stellar wordsmith you always wanted to be! In this course, you'll develop the skills you need to excel at business communications, express yourself clearly online, and take your creative literary talents to a new level.
Whether you're hoping to get a better job, write for a blog, or publish your short story, this course will give you the writing tools you need for success. It's also a perfect choice if you speak English as a second language. With the knowledge and hands-on practice you gain from this course, you'll be able to express yourself clearly and persuasively in writing—both in your personal life and in the business world.
Lesson 1 - Writing: Your Dynamic New Tool
Lesson 2 - words: picking the right one, lesson 3 - spelling: tips and practice, lesson 4 - usage: which word goes where, lesson 5 - sentences: writing them effectively, lesson 6 - ending punctuation: when, where, and why, lesson 7 - commas: mastery at last, lesson 8 - semicolons, colons, and all the rest: a quick review, lesson 9 - paragraphs: how they help you communicate, lesson 10 - formatting: tools and tips to help your content shine, lesson 11 - writing for electronic media: quirks and characteristics, lesson 12 - putting it all together: writing well.

- This course can be taken on either a PC, Mac, or Chromebook.
Software Requirements:
- PC: Windows 8 or later.
- Mac: macOS 10.6 or later.
- Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are preferred. Microsoft Edge and Safari are also compatible.
- Adobe Acrobat Reader .
- Software must be installed and fully operational before the course begins.
- Email capabilities and access to a personal email account.

Ann Linquist
Ann Linquist is a continuing education instructor on college campuses, at corporations, and with non-profit organizations. She has helped thousands of adults learn to tackle their writing tasks with enthusiasm. As Wake Tech’s only student literary and artistic publication, the mission of the Wake Review is to provide a creative outlet for the students, faculty, and staff of Wake Technical Community College. At the Wake Review , they believe Wake Tech should always have a place for its creative voice.
The magazine accepts content in the following categories: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, photography, and multimedia art. Short stories, essays, poems, screenplays, pictures, sketches, paintings, computer design images, videos, music–you name it, they likely accept it! There are cash prizes for the winning submissions in each category (1st place: $60, 2nd place: $30, and 3rd place: $15).
