Table of Contents:

Google Reviews play a crucial role in shaping the online presence and reputation of businesses and locations. Whether you’re a satisfied customer eager to share your experience or someone who encountered a problem you’d like others to know about, writing a Google Review can help others make informed decisions. Google Reviews not only influence potential customers but also contribute to a business’s visibility in search results.

In this tutorial, we’ll guide you through the process of writing a Google Review using two common methods: the Google Maps app on your mobile device and a web browser on your computer. Each method is straightforward and allows you to share your thoughts and rate businesses with ease. We’ll also show you how to remove a review if you change your mind later.

Writing a Google Review is an effective way to provide feedback to businesses, improve their service, and assist other customers. By following the steps outlined in this guide, you’ll be able to quickly and easily leave a review for any business or location you interact with.

The Purpose of Google Reviews

One of the primary purposes of Google Reviews is to enhance the visibility of a business online. Reviews contribute significantly to a business’s local SEO (Search Engine Optimization), impacting how often a business appears in local search results on Google. Businesses with higher ratings and a larger number of reviews are more likely to rank better in search results, making them more accessible to potential customers.

Google Reviews also build trust and credibility. A consistent flow of positive reviews can establish a business as reputable and trustworthy, encouraging new customers to engage with it. On the other hand, reviews also allow businesses to address any negative feedback directly, demonstrating their commitment to customer service and willingness to improve.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions About Google Reviews

Can businesses remove negative reviews from google maps.

No, businesses can’t remove reviews solely because they are negative. Reviews can only be removed if they violate Google’s review policies, which prohibit content like spam, off-topic rants, or personal information. Business owners can flag a review for review by Google if they believe it violates these guidelines, but the ultimate decision to remove the review lies with Google.

What impact do Google reviews have on a business?

Google reviews play a crucial role in a business’s online presence and visibility in search results. They contribute to local SEO, with higher-rated businesses and those with more reviews generally ranking higher in local search queries . A steady stream of positive reviews can enhance a business’s credibility and attract more customers, while negative reviews might deter potential customers but also provide businesses an opportunity to improve by addressing concerns.

Can I write a Google review without a Google account?

No, writing a Google review requires a Google account to ensure authenticity and accountability. This requirement helps maintain the integrity and reliability of reviews. To write a review, you must log in with your Google account either through the Google Maps app or via a web browser.

Why can’t I find the business I want to review on Google Maps?

If you can’t locate a business on Google Maps, check for spelling errors or try different search terms. The business might not be listed yet, in which case the owner needs to claim or add it to Google Maps through the Google My Business service. This service helps businesses manage their online presence across Google, including Search and Maps.

Are there any guidelines I should follow when writing a Google review?

When writing a Google review, follow Google’s content guidelines: be honest and factual, base your review on real experiences, and avoid inappropriate content such as offensive language, personal insults, or irrelevant photos. Be specific about your experience and aim to provide constructive feedback that is helpful to both the business and other customers.

What should I include in my Google review?

In your Google review, include specific details about your experience such as the quality of service, the environment, staff behavior, and product quality. Try to highlight both positives and negatives to provide a balanced perspective. Detailed reviews help other customers make more informed decisions and also aid businesses in understanding what they are doing well and what they could improve.

How do I make a Google review anonymous?

Although Google reviews are not entirely anonymous, you can increase your privacy by creating a Google username that doesn’t reveal your identity. This username will be displayed with your reviews instead of your real name. However, remember that your review may still be linked to your Google profile which might contain personal details depending on your privacy settings.

How long does it take for my Google review to appear online?

Google reviews usually appear instantly unless flagged for a policy violation, in which case they undergo a moderation process which can take from a few hours to several days. Factors like the wording of the review, the reviewer’s account history, and whether the review was flagged as inappropriate can affect this timeline.

How can I view all the reviews I’ve written?

To view all the reviews you have written, sign in to Google Maps, access the main menu by clicking on the three horizontal lines in the search bar, and select “ Your Contributions .” Here you will find different tabs for your reviews, photos, and other contributions to Google Maps.

Can other users see my profile when I post a review?

Yes, when you post a review on Google Maps, your username and profile photo (if you have set one) associated with your Google account will be visible to other users. This visibility helps add a level of trust and authenticity to the reviews.

What happens if a business owner responds to my review?

If a business owner responds to your review, you will receive a notification from Google Maps. The response from the owner appears directly beneath your review and is visible to the public. This feature allows business owners to thank customers, clarify misconceptions, or share updates about addressed issues, contributing to transparency and customer service.

How do I edit my Google review if I made a mistake?

To edit a Google review, locate your review on Google Maps under the specific business page. Tap or click the three-dot menu next to your review and select “ Edit .” Make your changes in the text box, and once you’re satisfied, save the updated review. Your changes will be immediately visible.

Is it possible to delete my Google review?

Yes, to delete a review you previously posted, go to Google Maps, locate the business page where your review appears, find your review in the “Reviews” section, tap the three-dot menu next to it, and select “ Delete .” Confirm your action to permanently remove the review from the business listing.

How do I add photos to my Google review after posting it?

To add photos to an existing review, locate your review on Google Maps, click or tap on the “ Edit ” option from the three-dot menu next to your review, and use the interface to upload photos. Updating your review with photos can help provide a more comprehensive perspective to others.

Can I write reviews for different businesses at the same time?

Yes, you are free to write reviews for multiple businesses sequentially. It’s important to focus on individual experiences with each business, ensuring that each review is based on personal interaction and reflects your genuine perspective to maintain the credibility of your feedback.

Fact-checking warnings from Democrats about Project 2025 and Donald Trump

This fact check originally appeared on PolitiFact .

Project 2025 has a starring role in this week’s Democratic National Convention.

And it was front and center on Night 1.

WATCH: Hauling large copy of Project 2025, Michigan state Sen. McMorrow speaks at 2024 DNC

“This is Project 2025,” Michigan state Sen. Mallory McMorrow, D-Royal Oak, said as she laid a hardbound copy of the 900-page document on the lectern. “Over the next four nights, you are going to hear a lot about what is in this 900-page document. Why? Because this is the Republican blueprint for a second Trump term.”

Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, has warned Americans about “Trump’s Project 2025” agenda — even though former President Donald Trump doesn’t claim the conservative presidential transition document.

“Donald Trump wants to take our country backward,” Harris said July 23 in Milwaukee. “He and his extreme Project 2025 agenda will weaken the middle class. Like, we know we got to take this seriously, and can you believe they put that thing in writing?”

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Harris’ running mate, has joined in on the talking point.

“Don’t believe (Trump) when he’s playing dumb about this Project 2025. He knows exactly what it’ll do,” Walz said Aug. 9 in Glendale, Arizona.

Trump’s campaign has worked to build distance from the project, which the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, led with contributions from dozens of conservative groups.

Much of the plan calls for extensive executive-branch overhauls and draws on both long-standing conservative principles, such as tax cuts, and more recent culture war issues. It lays out recommendations for disbanding the Commerce and Education departments, eliminating certain climate protections and consolidating more power to the president.

Project 2025 offers a sweeping vision for a Republican-led executive branch, and some of its policies mirror Trump’s 2024 agenda, But Harris and her presidential campaign have at times gone too far in describing what the project calls for and how closely the plans overlap with Trump’s campaign.

PolitiFact researched Harris’ warnings about how the plan would affect reproductive rights, federal entitlement programs and education, just as we did for President Joe Biden’s Project 2025 rhetoric. Here’s what the project does and doesn’t call for, and how it squares with Trump’s positions.

Are Trump and Project 2025 connected?

To distance himself from Project 2025 amid the Democratic attacks, Trump wrote on Truth Social that he “knows nothing” about it and has “no idea” who is in charge of it. (CNN identified at least 140 former advisers from the Trump administration who have been involved.)

The Heritage Foundation sought contributions from more than 100 conservative organizations for its policy vision for the next Republican presidency, which was published in 2023.

Project 2025 is now winding down some of its policy operations, and director Paul Dans, a former Trump administration official, is stepping down, The Washington Post reported July 30. Trump campaign managers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita denounced the document.

WATCH: A look at the Project 2025 plan to reshape government and Trump’s links to its authors

However, Project 2025 contributors include a number of high-ranking officials from Trump’s first administration, including former White House adviser Peter Navarro and former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson.

A recently released recording of Russell Vought, a Project 2025 author and the former director of Trump’s Office of Management and Budget, showed Vought saying Trump’s “very supportive of what we do.” He said Trump was only distancing himself because Democrats were making a bogeyman out of the document.

Project 2025 wouldn’t ban abortion outright, but would curtail access

The Harris campaign shared a graphic on X that claimed “Trump’s Project 2025 plan for workers” would “go after birth control and ban abortion nationwide.”

The plan doesn’t call to ban abortion nationwide, though its recommendations could curtail some contraceptives and limit abortion access.

What’s known about Trump’s abortion agenda neither lines up with Harris’ description nor Project 2025’s wish list.

Project 2025 says the Department of Health and Human Services Department should “return to being known as the Department of Life by explicitly rejecting the notion that abortion is health care.”

It recommends that the Food and Drug Administration reverse its 2000 approval of mifepristone, the first pill taken in a two-drug regimen for a medication abortion. Medication is the most common form of abortion in the U.S. — accounting for around 63 percent in 2023.

If mifepristone were to remain approved, Project 2025 recommends new rules, such as cutting its use from 10 weeks into pregnancy to seven. It would have to be provided to patients in person — part of the group’s efforts to limit access to the drug by mail. In June, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a legal challenge to mifepristone’s FDA approval over procedural grounds.

WATCH: Trump’s plans for health care and reproductive rights if he returns to White House The manual also calls for the Justice Department to enforce the 1873 Comstock Act on mifepristone, which bans the mailing of “obscene” materials. Abortion access supporters fear that a strict interpretation of the law could go further to ban mailing the materials used in procedural abortions, such as surgical instruments and equipment.

The plan proposes withholding federal money from states that don’t report to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention how many abortions take place within their borders. The plan also would prohibit abortion providers, such as Planned Parenthood, from receiving Medicaid funds. It also calls for the Department of Health and Human Services to ensure that the training of medical professionals, including doctors and nurses, omits abortion training.

The document says some forms of emergency contraception — particularly Ella, a pill that can be taken within five days of unprotected sex to prevent pregnancy — should be excluded from no-cost coverage. The Affordable Care Act requires most private health insurers to cover recommended preventive services, which involves a range of birth control methods, including emergency contraception.

Trump has recently said states should decide abortion regulations and that he wouldn’t block access to contraceptives. Trump said during his June 27 debate with Biden that he wouldn’t ban mifepristone after the Supreme Court “approved” it. But the court rejected the lawsuit based on standing, not the case’s merits. He has not weighed in on the Comstock Act or said whether he supports it being used to block abortion medication, or other kinds of abortions.

Project 2025 doesn’t call for cutting Social Security, but proposes some changes to Medicare

“When you read (Project 2025),” Harris told a crowd July 23 in Wisconsin, “you will see, Donald Trump intends to cut Social Security and Medicare.”

The Project 2025 document does not call for Social Security cuts. None of its 10 references to Social Security addresses plans for cutting the program.

Harris also misleads about Trump’s Social Security views.

In his earlier campaigns and before he was a politician, Trump said about a half-dozen times that he’s open to major overhauls of Social Security, including cuts and privatization. More recently, in a March 2024 CNBC interview, Trump said of entitlement programs such as Social Security, “There’s a lot you can do in terms of entitlements, in terms of cutting.” However, he quickly walked that statement back, and his CNBC comment stands at odds with essentially everything else Trump has said during the 2024 presidential campaign.

Trump’s campaign website says that not “a single penny” should be cut from Social Security. We rated Harris’ claim that Trump intends to cut Social Security Mostly False.

Project 2025 does propose changes to Medicare, including making Medicare Advantage, the private insurance offering in Medicare, the “default” enrollment option. Unlike Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans have provider networks and can also require prior authorization, meaning that the plan can approve or deny certain services. Original Medicare plans don’t have prior authorization requirements.

The manual also calls for repealing health policies enacted under Biden, such as the Inflation Reduction Act. The law enabled Medicare to negotiate with drugmakers for the first time in history, and recently resulted in an agreement with drug companies to lower the prices of 10 expensive prescriptions for Medicare enrollees.

Trump, however, has said repeatedly during the 2024 presidential campaign that he will not cut Medicare.

Project 2025 would eliminate the Education Department, which Trump supports

The Harris campaign said Project 2025 would “eliminate the U.S. Department of Education” — and that’s accurate. Project 2025 says federal education policy “should be limited and, ultimately, the federal Department of Education should be eliminated.” The plan scales back the federal government’s role in education policy and devolves the functions that remain to other agencies.

Aside from eliminating the department, the project also proposes scrapping the Biden administration’s Title IX revision, which prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. It also would let states opt out of federal education programs and calls for passing a federal parents’ bill of rights similar to ones passed in some Republican-led state legislatures.

Republicans, including Trump, have pledged to close the department, which gained its status in 1979 within Democratic President Jimmy Carter’s presidential Cabinet.

In one of his Agenda 47 policy videos, Trump promised to close the department and “to send all education work and needs back to the states.” Eliminating the department would have to go through Congress.

What Project 2025, Trump would do on overtime pay

In the graphic, the Harris campaign says Project 2025 allows “employers to stop paying workers for overtime work.”

The plan doesn’t call for banning overtime wages. It recommends changes to some Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA, regulations and to overtime rules. Some changes, if enacted, could result in some people losing overtime protections, experts told us.

The document proposes that the Labor Department maintain an overtime threshold “that does not punish businesses in lower-cost regions (e.g., the southeast United States).” This threshold is the amount of money executive, administrative or professional employees need to make for an employer to exempt them from overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

In 2019, the Trump’s administration finalized a rule that expanded overtime pay eligibility to most salaried workers earning less than about $35,568, which it said made about 1.3 million more workers eligible for overtime pay. The Trump-era threshold is high enough to cover most line workers in lower-cost regions, Project 2025 said.

The Biden administration raised that threshold to $43,888 beginning July 1, and that will rise to $58,656 on Jan. 1, 2025. That would grant overtime eligibility to about 4 million workers, the Labor Department said.

It’s unclear how many workers Project 2025’s proposal to return to the Trump-era overtime threshold in some parts of the country would affect, but experts said some would presumably lose the right to overtime wages.

Other overtime proposals in Project 2025’s plan include allowing some workers to choose to accumulate paid time off instead of overtime pay, or to work more hours in one week and fewer in the next, rather than receive overtime.

Trump’s past with overtime pay is complicated. In 2016, the Obama administration said it would raise the overtime to salaried workers earning less than $47,476 a year, about double the exemption level set in 2004 of $23,660 a year.

But when a judge blocked the Obama rule, the Trump administration didn’t challenge the court ruling. Instead it set its own overtime threshold, which raised the amount, but by less than Obama.

Using CGI and special effects, the Oklahoma City Capitol Building was dressed up to look like the United States Capitol Building, and the Temple of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in Guthrie doubled for The White House.

Trump Reposts Crude Sexual Remark About Harris on Truth Social

Though the former president has a history of making crass insults about opponents, the reposts signal his willingness to continue to shatter longstanding political norms.

Former President Donald J. Trump framed by American flags.

By Michael Gold

  • Aug. 28, 2024

Former President Donald J. Trump used his social-media website on Wednesday to amplify a crude remark about Vice President Kamala Harris that suggested Ms. Harris traded sexual favors to help her political career.

The post, by another user on Truth Social, was an image of Ms. Harris and Hillary Clinton, Mr. Trump’s opponent in 2016. The text read: “Funny how blowjobs impacted both their careers differently…”

The remark was a reference to Mrs. Clinton’s husband, former President Bill Clinton, and the Monica Lewinsky scandal, and a right-wing contention that Ms. Harris’s romantic relationship with Willie Brown, the former mayor of San Francisco whom she dated in the mid-1990s while he was speaker of the California State Assembly, fueled her political rise.

Mr. Trump’s repost was the second time in 10 days that the former president shared content from his personal account making sexually oriented attacks on Ms. Harris. Though he has a history of making crass insults about his opponents, the reposts signal Mr. Trump’s willingness to continue to shatter longstanding norms of political speech.

The image Mr. Trump shared on Wednesday morning was another user’s screenshot of a post on X, and it was a reply to an unrelated video clip Mr. Trump had posted on Tuesday night.

Mr. Trump reposted the image as part of a series of 30 reposts he made on Truth Social between 8:02 and 8:32 a.m. on Wednesday, including several posts with references to the QAnon conspiracy theory movement and its slogan. Mr. Trump also reposted photos that called for the prosecution or imprisoning of top Democrats and members of the House committee that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. The former president has vowed to direct federal prosecutors to investigate his political enemies if elected.

Letters from Our Readers

Caring for cats.

Still reeling from the recent loss of two beloved cats, I wondered if I had the stomach to read Sloane Crosley’s piece about the death of her own cat (“ The Tail End ,” August 12th). To my relief, I was buoyed by her words, which radiated a love instantly recognizable to other ailurophiles. Both of my twenty-year-old companions left swiftly, with help from magnificent vets, while I rocked them in my arms and felt the sickening lurch of our power imbalance. Since then, I have gained some comfort from the knowledge that, from the moment they entered my home, my cats knew adoration, care, and delicious snacks. In their last hours, they had no notion of regret, for the past or for a stolen future. We just curled up, like normal, until the purring stopped. Would that we were all afforded an end with such grace. Condolences to Crosley, and thank you for expressing so well the nuanced grief that accompanies the loss of an animal.

Anna Caswell Austin,Texas

Nothing but the Truth

I was surprised to see, in Clare Malone’s Profile of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., that the magazine published without challenge a quotation from a former managing editor of Rolling Stone which stated that Kennedy’s writing was full of factual errors “because he’s not a journalist. He’s a lawyer. He’s more about making arguments than about trying to communicate the truth” (“ The Inheritor ,” August 12th). Contrary to popular opinion, lawyers have a professional obligation not to lie or to misrepresent. That Kennedy wrote, and that Rolling Stone published, an article “riddled with errors,” which “falsely reported” and “misrepresented” a number of facts and which “required a number of major corrections,” cannot and should not be attributed to his status as a lawyer.

Writing About Infidelity

As the journalist who runs chumplady.com, the infidelity-support blog that Parul Sehgal derides in her review of Sarah Manguso’s book “Liars,” I was surprised to find myself characterized in The New Yorker as some sort of snarky Svengali who warped Manguso’s views on infidelity ( Books , August 12th). I can tell you with authority that scores of women will see themselves in the toxically lopsided marriage described in Manguso’s novel and will applaud her truthtelling. But I was even more surprised that Sehgal would attack an author’s former online support group. Does she always probe the acknowledgments to make sense of her authors? I don’t fault Sehgal for being tone-deaf about the pain of betrayal—I would never wish that kind of understanding on her. But I do fault her apparent lack of empathy and curiosity.

Art in Print

It’s interesting that the print version of Jackson Arn’s thoughtful description of the Surrealists should unintentionally present a Surrealist touch (“ The Art World ,” August 12th). The much discussed self-portrait by Leonora Carrington is so severely cropped that it no longer includes a section of the painting which Arn focusses on. Unfamiliar with the work, I looked in vain for the details described. I cleaned my glasses. Luckily, I decided to Google the painting. Imagine my surprise. In full, Carrington’s work is much richer. And Arn’s point was finally revealed.

How to write a review or recommendation on any Facebook business page

  • You can write a review on Facebook to help others make an informed decision about a business.
  • To leave a review on Facebook, you can either recommend or not recommend a business.
  • You can leave this recommendation directly on a Facebook business page.

If you've just been to a really great — or not so great — business, you probably want to tell someone about it. You could just post about it on social media, but that only goes to your friends. It would probably be more useful to let people who actually want the information know.

There are many ways to do that, but one way is to post on a business' Facebook page, if it has one. You don't have to leave a generic post on the page, and it's not the traditional star rating like you're used to either.

Facebook has changed their reviews to recommendations, which can include photos and tags in addition to text. Now, star ratings for a business are calculated by a combination of past reviews and customer recommendations.

Here's everything you need to know about Facebook recommendations.

How are Facebook recommendations different from reviews?

While they serve a similar purpose, there are a few key differences between recommendations and reviews.

First, Facebook reviews are visible to anyone on Facebook, while recommendations can be limited to just friends. Facebook reviews also have a star rating whilst recommendations do not.

What are the benefits of using Facebook recommendations?

When recommending a business, you can add photos to accompany your text and select tags to highlight key features about a business (like child-friendly or cozy atmosphere).

Additionally, if one of your Facebook friends recommends a business, it will appear first on that Facebook page as well as on your friend's timeline.

How to write a review on Facebook

1. Go to the Facebook page of the business you want to review.

2. Click the Reviews tab.

3. Underneath Do you recommend [Business Name]? click Yes or No .

4. Write your review about the business. Reviews must be at least 25 characters long.

5. In the Sharing section , select who will be able to see your review. You can choose just friends, or set it to public so that anyone can see it. When you're finished, click Post .

Whether it’s raving about your favorite café or detailing a less-than-stellar experience at a local shop, your reviews contribute significantly to the online reputation of businesses.

Understanding the impact of your words, you might want to ensure your Facebook circle is wide enough to make your opinions heard.

Enhancing your presence by deciding to buy Facebook reviews can significantly enhance the impact of your evaluations, ensuring that your endorsements or cautions are heard by a wider audience. This strategy not only expands your social network but also elevates the trustworthiness and visibility of your evaluations, turning them into a valuable asset for others.

Steps To Write Reviews on Facebook

How To Write a Facebook Review

Writing a Facebook review can significantly impact a business, influencing potential customers and shaping the company’s online reputation. To ensure your review offers value and clarity, follow the guidelines below.

Choose the Right Rating

Your review starts with selecting a rating. Given that Facebook has transitioned to recommendations rather than the traditional star ratings, your choice is binary: yes or no. This doesn’t mean your review lacks nuance. Your recommendation — or lack thereof — sets the tone for your feedback. It’s essential to accurately reflect your experience.

Did the business meet your expectations? Would you suggest it to friends or family? Your initial recommendation acts as an anchor for your written review, guiding readers on your overall sentiment.

Provide Specific Details

The most helpful reviews go beyond general statements. When drafting your review, include specific details about what made your experience memorable. Were there standout products or services? How did the business go above and beyond?

Alternatively, if your experience was less than stellar, detail what aspects fell short. This information not only aids potential customers in their decision-making but also offers businesses valuable insight into areas of success or improvement. Remember, clarity is key. Break down your experience so readers can easily understand what to expect.

Include Personal Experience

Your personal experience is what makes your review unique. Share your story — whether it’s about the exceptional service you received or how a product exceeded your expectations. Don’t hesitate to mention employees by name if they contributed to your positive experience. Including personal anecdotes adds authenticity and relatability to your review, making it more engaging for readers. It’s these personal touches that transform a standard review into a powerful recommendation.

Other Things To Consider When Writing a Facebook Reviews

When crafting a Facebook review, it’s not just about what you say but how you say it. Language and tone play crucial roles in how your feedback is perceived. Opting for a constructive tone, even when critiquing, fosters a positive dialogue and encourages the business to engage with your feedback.

If you find it difficult to follow a certain tone or style, then a paragraph generator can help you with the first draft. It will craft compelling paragraphs according to your entered topic and selected tone/style.

Timing is another aspect often overlooked. Sharing your experience soon after it happens ensures your memories are fresh, making your review more detailed and helpful for others. But, if you’ve had a negative experience, taking a moment to cool off before typing can prevent overly-emotional responses that might not accurately reflect the situation.

The relevance of your review is paramount. The team from this essay writing platform called EssayPro advises focusing on specifics that future customers will find useful. Mentioning the quality of service, the atmosphere, or the product’s performance gives a well-rounded view that aids in decision-making. It’s also beneficial to highlight any changes in your second visit, as this shows the business’s capacity for growth or consistency.

You can also use authentic photos accompanying your review can greatly enhance its credibility. Visuals can capture aspects that words might miss, such as the ambiance of a place or the quality of a product, offering a more immersive insight into your experience.

Remember, a well-written review has the power to significantly influence both potential customers and the business itself. By choosing your words carefully, focusing on relevance, and attaching authentic visuals, your feedback can contribute meaningfully to the community, helping others make informed decisions and assisting businesses in their quest for improvement.

How Do I Leave a Review on Facebook?

Leaving a review on Facebook is simpler than you might think, and it’s a fantastic way for you to share your experiences with others while also helping businesses understand how they’re doing. Facebook reviews are influential, with 92.4% of customers reading online reviews and considering them as much as personal recommendations.

First, navigate to the business’s Facebook page. You’ll find the “Reviews” or “Recommendations” section usually located on the left-hand side menu of the page. If you’re on a mobile device, you might need to tap on the ‘More’ tab. Once you’re there, Facebook will prompt you with the question, “Do you recommend [Business Name]?” Here, you can select either “Yes” or “No”, based on your experience.

After choosing your recommendation option, a text box will appear where you can write your review. Here’s where your contribution really matters.

Be specific about what you liked or didn’t like. Mention details about the service, product quality, or your overall experience. This not only helps potential customers but also gives the business valuable feedback on what they’re doing right or what they could improve on.

Also, adding authentic photos can significantly enhance the credibility of your review. Photos offer visual evidence of your experience, making your review more relatable and trustworthy for those reading it.

Remember, your review should be honest and fair. Keep in mind that constructive criticism is more helpful than vague or overly negative comments. Businesses often use feedback from Facebook reviews to improve their products or services, so your insights can lead to real change.

Understanding how to leave a review on Facebook enables you to be part of a larger community, contributing valuable information that benefits both businesses and fellow customers alike. Your voice matters, and with these simple steps, you can make sure it’s heard.

Where Do I Find Facebook Reviews?

If you’re looking to leave a Facebook review, knowing where to find the review section is your first step. It’s simpler than you might think.

Facebook has integrated its review feature into what’s now known as Recommendations. This is where customers can share their experiences and thoughts about a business, service, or product with their network.

Start by navigating to the Facebook Page of the business you want to review. You’ll find the Recommendations or Reviews tab on the left sidebar of the page. This tab is your gateway to reading what others have said and leaving your own feedback. Whether you’re on a desktop or using the Facebook app, the process is essentially the same.

Occasionally, businesses might have this tab hidden due to their settings preferences. If that’s the case and you can’t seem to find where to leave a review, don’t worry. Contacting the business directly through their Facebook page via message can be a good alternative. They can provide you with a direct link or instruct you on how they prefer to gather customer feedback.

Remember, when you decide to leave a review, you’re not just sharing your thoughts with the business. Your review is visible to anyone who visits the business’s Facebook page. This visibility is exactly why your honest and detailed feedback is invaluable. It helps potential customers make informed decisions and can significantly impact the business’s reputation.

Can I Delete or Edit My Facebook Reviews?

Navigating the complexities of social media feedback might feel like a maze, especially when you’re looking to retract or modify your words. On Facebook, your voice matters , and so does your ability to update your insights as your experiences evolve.

If you’ve posted a review and later changed your mind, either because your opinion has shifted or you’ve had a change of heart, you’ll be relieved to know that editing and deleting your Facebook reviews is possible . This flexibility ensures your feedback remains accurate and reflective of your latest interactions.

To edit your Facebook review, simply navigate to the Recommendations section of the business page where you initially left your feedback. Find your review and click on the three dots in the top right corner. From there, you’ll see an option to ‘Edit Recommendation’. This is your chance to adjust your rating or elaborate on your experience further. Remember, your edited review will replace the original and will be date-stamped with the latest update.

In scenarios where you feel a review no longer represents your stance or if it was posted in error, deleting it is just as straightforward. Follow the same steps to locate your review under the business’s Recommendations. Instead of opting to edit, select ‘Remove Recommendation’. Upon confirmation, your review will permanently disappear, leaving no trace of the original comment.

This ability to edit or delete ensures that your digital footprint on Facebook is as current and genuine as your real-world experiences. It underscores the platform’s commitment to providing dynamic, user-driven content that accurately reflects consumer opinions and experiences. Whether you’re praising an unforgettable service or retracting a critique based on a resolved issue, your control over your online reviews is uncompromised.

Remember, each review contributes to the community’s perception of a business. Exercising your power to edit or delete ensures that your influence remains both positive and precise.

Businesses that actively respond to reviews demonstrate their dedication to customer satisfaction, further emphasizing the importance of your input. So next time you’re about to write a review, consider the impact of your words and the responsibility that comes with them. Your thoughtful and honest feedback can make a significant difference.

how to leave reviews on Facebook

How to Leave a Review on Facebook

Before visiting a business, most Facebook users look them up on Facebook to check their reviews. Customer reviews across platforms such as Yelp and Google show what past customers say about a business, offering social proof that you provide a good product or service. This makes managing a positive online presence an essential aspect of running a small or local business in the modern age.

Discover the difference between Facebook reviews and recommendations in this step-by-step guide on how to leave a review on Facebook .

Generate 5-star Facebook reviews for your business automatically

What are facebook reviews vs. recommendations.

Facebook reviews and recommendations allow users to leave reviews on business pages. For years, Facebook used a traditional review system using a five-star review scale and an optional space for a comment supporting the given star rating. In 2018, however, they updated the star rating system to “Recommendations,” which asks users if they recommend a business, yes or no.

Facebook Reviews

Reviews on Facebook used a five-star rating and the option to leave an accompanying comment. Anyone could like and comment on reviews. Existing star ratings and Facebook reviews are still available for social media users to see, and Facebook will continue to display them; however, you can no longer leave a traditional review with a star ranking.

Facebook Recommendations

Recommendations are an updated version of reviews on Facebook. The current “Review” tab does not show five-star ratings. Instead, it tells social media users whether their social network recommends a business.

When users click the “Reviews” tab, Facebook sends them to the “Recommendations” feature, which asks, “Do you recommend (Business name)? ” Users respond yes or no and can add tags, photos, or a written recommendation. Facebook intends for recommendations to be more personal and allows users to see what friends in their network think of local businesses. All you need to know is that, in effect, reviews and recommendations on Facebook are one and the same.

For the purpose of this article, and to avoid confusion, we will refer to reviews and recommendations as “reviews”, as some users might still call recommendations by their former name.

Why Are Reviews on Facebook Important for Businesses?

Facebook reviews play an important role in the success of local businesses. Let’s look deeper into why they matter, with some examples to help along the way:

Enhance Online Presence

Think of reviews on Facebook as your business’s online billboard. More reviews mean more people can find you, just like how a well-lit sign on a popular street attracts passersby. For example, if you run a café and receive glowing reviews, say, for your lattes and friendly staff, people searching for a great coffee spot in town are more likely to discover and choose yours. That’s the kind of thing we are talking about.

Build Trust

Trust is truly a precious commodity—with that being said, positive reviews on Facebook are kind of like trust-building blocks. When someone leaves a heartfelt review praising your products or services, it’s akin to a friend recommending your business. Just as you’d trust a pal’s opinion about whether or not to go see a movie, potential customers trust these reviews to gauge whether or not to do business with you.

Customer Engagement

Customer reviews create an opportunity for direct and meaningful communication. When customers share their thoughts, it’s quite similar to having a conversation. You can respond to their reviews on Facebook, just as you would chat with friends (just a little more professional). This interaction shows your customers that you value their opinions and appreciate their feedback.

Social Proof

On social media, we are often drawn to what everyone else is talking about, and reviews on Facebook provide that extra nudge. When you see a product with lots of positive reviews, it’s like a group of friends giving it the seal of approval. For instance, if you’re looking for a new smartphone and find one with many five-star reviews talking about its great camera and long battery life, you’re more likely to choose that model over another.

Improve SEO

Consider reviews as your website’s hypemen. The more reviews you have, the more prominent Google will find you, and the higher your website will rank in search results. This means more and more people will likely visit your business online.

Valuable Feedback

Reviews on Facebook aren’t just compliments—they’re also a great source of feedback. They provide insights on how you can improve your operations or products. Suppose you own a clothing store, and customers leave reviews asking for a more extensive range of sizes. This feedback helps you make informed decisions to better serve your customers.

Competitive Edge

In a sea of similar businesses, a collection of great reviews is like a beacon guiding customers directly to you. It differentiates your business from others, making potential customers more likely to choose you. With a reputation built on positive reviews, your business can stand out and secure a larger share of the market.

Word-of-Mouth Marketing

Good reviews on Facebook can be the starting point of a chain reaction. One friend reads your reviews, decides to visit, and tells another friend about how great you are. Before you know it, this word-of-mouth marketing multiplies your customer base.

Customer Loyalty

Responding to reviews isn’t just about appreciation—it’s about building relationships. When you thank a customer for a positive review, it’s like inviting them to become a part of your brand’s community. Over time, this engagement fosters loyalty and long-term connections.

Monitor Customer Satisfaction

Think of reviews on Facebook as a barometer for customer happiness. They provide a continuous stream of feedback about how well your business is meeting the needs of your valued customers. You can use this feedback to refine your services and ensure your customers are always satisfied.

For example, if you run a tech support business and consistently receive reviews mentioning fast response times, it reassures potential customers that they can count on your quick assistance.

In a nutshell, Facebook reviews serve as advocates for your business. They not only enhance your online visibility but also provide valuable feedback and set you apart from competitors. Take steps to improve and nurture your online presence, and it will pay you back tenfold.

With Facebook’s updates for Business Pages, it’s never been easier for people to interact with local businesses they love on social media .

One of the main updates?

Further developing the Recommendations feature, an enhanced version of the Facebook reviews system.

Facebook understands people trust their online communities ’ input on where to shop, eat, or travel. With this feature, Facebook users can create an “ask for a recommendation” post and their friends can respond with live links to the Facebook business pages they recommend.

In other words, when you leave a review on Facebook, that business becomes eligible to be “recommended” by others, too — a beautiful way to help your favorite local businesses move the needle faster toward sustainable growth.

By reading this guide, you discover seven ways to leave a review on desktop and two additional guidelines.

If you’re ready to give businesses some love on Facebook, but you’re not sure how, stick around to learn everything you need to know about how to write a review on Facebook.

How to know which businesses you can review (and other important guidelines)

Let’s get straight into it.

If a business has turned on its “Reviews” setting, you can recommend them.

Take a look at FusionAuth, a SaaS solution for developers interested in SAML vs OAuth systems:

how to write a review on facebook

On its Facebook business page, you can see it lists a “Reviews” tab in the red rectangle above. This indicates that FusionAuth is eligible for Facebook recommendations.

One important note: If a business has turned off its “Reviews” setting, you can’t recommend them.

Take a look at Leathercult, an apparel brand that specializes in selling leather pants :

A screenshot showing a missing Reviews tab on Facebook.

If you look inside of the red rectangle, you’ll notice it’s missing a “Reviews” tab. This means Leathercult has turned off its reviews.

If you’d like to recommend a business page that has reviews turned off, consider asking them to turn the feature on in their privacy settings so you can show your appreciation.

Why would a business choose to turn off Facebook reviews?

Some businesses may choose to omit this setting from their Facebook page in an effort to prevent spammy messages, inappropriate comments from irate customers, and poor reviews. In this case, consider asking the business if there’s another review site you can use to leave a positive recommendation, such as Google or Yelp.

How to Write a Review on Facebook

Here are a couple of other housekeeping duties you should keep in mind before attempting to write a review on Facebook.

Review Facebook character limits

Your Facebook review will need to be at least 25 characters long. That’s about four to six words depending on letter count and spacing.

While there’s no max character limit listed that we could find, we decided to conduct our own test — but we stopped after 44,616 characters. 😂 So, it’s safe to say you have plenty of room to work with.

Follow Facebook’s community guidelines

As part of its community standards, Facebook asks that all reviewers follow its guidelines to prevent potential post removal.

While Facebook doesn’t verify user purchases, it does ask that you:

  • Focus on the product or service the business offers
  • Don’t manage the Page for the business you’re reviewing
  • Base your review on personal experience

Responding to a review request

If you view an ad on Facebook via the iPhone app or the Android app , you may be asked to review your purchasing experience with that business — whether you made a purchase or not.

If you didn’t buy anything, you can let Facebook know by following these two simple steps:

  • Access the review request in your Feed.
  • Tap “Didn’t make a purchase.”

If you did buy something and would like to leave a review, follow these four steps:

  • Choose the star rating you’d like to give the business.
  • Click “Tell others what you liked or didn’t like” and write your review.
  • Tap “Finish”.

Pro-Tip: Want to review a brand you love but don’t know what to say? Beat writer’s block and get inspired with brainstorming prompts from an AI text generator . Simply enter a few words about your experience and watch as the generator spits out some ideas for you. While this tool isn’t perfect, it’s a great resource to use when you’re feeling stuck on where to start.

What to include in your Facebook review

Piggybacking on the guidelines from above, let’s draw up some mock review examples to help you brainstorm your upcoming Facebook review.

Here are three ideas you can use to help you focus your Facebook review:

Place a hyper-focus on the product or service

If you can’t get enough of a particular product or service, let that be the star of your review.

Scenario:

When you were planning your wedding, your groomsmen were worried their attire would be expensive, uncomfortable, and lack the proper fit.

Luckily, you found a brand called StudioSuits that offers men’s suits at a generous discount and offers custom options. Score!

Not only were your groomsmen pleased with their final cost, but they also loved their suits so much, that they’ve been wearing them to other weddings and formal events since then.

With this in mind, here’s how you might place the spotlight on the products you ordered:

“My groomsmen are still raving about the custom suits they purchased from StudioSuits for our Spring wedding last year. Not only were they happy with the fit and price, but they also can’t stop talking about how soft the fabric is. They even joke about starting a “tuxedo” or “suit” night just for an excuse to wear these beauties. Can’t say enough about StudioSuits!”

Highlight your epic customer experience

Your entire experience was a dream. From initial contact to software consideration to purchase to onboarding . So, why not take potential customers on a ride to let them know what their experience could look like, too?

You’ve been on the hunt for an application tracking system (ATS) that can help you simplify and speed up your recruiting processes. For now, you’ve been relying on outdated HR software solutions and an overwhelming spreadsheet.

After some digging and research, you found Matchr, a SaaS solution that offers ATS software in line with your specific goals. After signing up for a welcome call, choosing a solution, and completing the onboarding process, you’re over the moon impressed.

Not only did the rep take their time to answer every question on your long list, but they also continued to follow up with you until your needs were met. A showstopping experience, to say the least.

With this in mind, here’s how you can highlight your customer experience in your review:

“Lisa and the team from Matchr were an absolute dream to work with. After signing up for a welcome call, Lisa and the team went the extra mile by answering all of my questions, without hesitation or a tinge of annoyance. They held my hand throughout the entire onboarding process and are still available anytime I get stuck or have additional questions. If you’re looking for an HR solution that’s not only effective but that also comes with a supportive onboarding team, look no further than Matchr.”

Beam about the tremendous value you’ve received

When a product or solution is changing your business or life, you have to tell the world about it.

You never knew you needed a portable filtered water bottle until you had to live without one on of your recent travels where tap water wasn’t safe to drink.

But after finding ClearlyFiltered? Now your travels look different. Not only can you safely drink water from any spring, water fountain, or faucet, but you’re also looking into ways you can help these communities get access to safe water bottles, too. Now your body and your altruistic heart can thank you.

With this in mind, here’s how you can highlight the value you received in your review:

“As a frequent traveler, I can’t say enough about the filtered water bottles ClearlyFiltered offers. After getting sick on one of my recent travels after drinking spring water, I knew I had to find a convenient way to help me get access to clean water, anywhere in the world. Since my purchase, I’ve been to three countries that didn’t offer potable drinking water and I was able to safely consume the water out of my filtered bottle. Not only has this water bottle changed my traveling experience and my health, but it’s also inspired me to donate filtered water bottles to communities in need.”

4. Choose Your Star Rating :

Facebook uses a five-star rating system, with one star being the lowest rating and five stars being the highest. Select the star rating that best reflects your overall experience with the business.

5. Write Your Review :

Now it's time to share your thoughts and feedback. Start by summarizing your experience briefly. Were you impressed by the quality of service? Did the product meet your expectations? Or were there any issues that you encountered? Be honest and specific in your review, and try to provide useful information for other potential customers.

6. Include Relevant Details :

If you're writing a positive review, mention specific aspects of the business that you appreciated, such as excellent customer service, fast shipping, or high-quality products. If your review is negative, try to be constructive and offer suggestions for improvement.

7. Proofread and Edit :

Before you hit the submit button, take a moment to proofread your review for any spelling or grammatical errors. A well-written and polished review will have more credibility and impact.

8. Submit Your Review :

Once you're satisfied with your review, click the "Post" or "Submit" button to publish it on the business's Facebook page .

9. (Optional) Edit or Delete Your Review :

If you later decide to edit or delete your review, you can do so by navigating back to the Reviews section on the business page and finding your review. Facebook allows users to edit or delete their Facebook reviews at any time.

10. Share Your Review (Optional) :

If you're particularly impressed with a business or want to help spread the word, consider sharing your review on your own Facebook timeline. This can help increase visibility for the business and encourage others to check them out.

By following these simple steps, you can easily write a Facebook review that provides valuable feedback to businesses and helps other users make informed decisions. Whether you're praising exceptional service or offering constructive criticism, your reviews can make a meaningful impact on the success of businesses in your community. If you found these instructions or any of the other services I have provided for you over time to be of value, then I would really appreciate it if you could write a review on the Impactiv8 Facebook Page .

Share These Instructions

If you would like to get more reviews for your Facebook Page, then the best thing you can do is ask your customers or clients to rate your Facebook Page! This is particularly important if you don’t have many reviews and those reviews don’t accurately reflect what you believe the overall rating of your business should be. You don’t have to ask everyone either. Targeting your happiest clients is a great way to ensure you get your star rating up to the kind of rating it deserves! 🙂 Feel free to share the link to these instructions as part of your request also. This will overcome the obstacle of them potentially not knowing how to do so.

Mastering facebook reviews: the complete 2024 guide.

Activate the Facebook Reviews tab on your Facebook business Page and grow with customer feedback.

Epic guide to Facebook Reviews

Facebook reviews, or recommendations, are a vital part of a business’s online reputation.

After all, they provide the best type of social proof you can get, increase the visibility of your business, and help you convert visitors into dedicated customers.

Moreover, the impact customer reviews have on your business cannot be underestimated. The vast majority of U.S. adults (82%) say they check online reviews before a purchase. Also, over 18% of U.S. adults say they had bought something through Facebook.

So keep on reading as we tell you all about Facebook reviews, how to add them to your page, and how they help your business succeed in today’s day and age.

About Facebook recommendations former Facebook reviews

Facebook Recommendations are a feature on Facebook that allows users to provide feedback about their experiences with businesses, services, or products.

Unlike traditional star-rated reviews, Recommendations enable users to simply recommend or not recommend a business to their friends and network. These Recommendations can include written feedback, photos, and tags, creating a more comprehensive and social form of review. This feature integrates directly into a business’s Facebook Page, making it easier for potential customers to see authentic opinions and experiences shared by real users.

Note: Facebook’s ‘Recommendations’ feature is the evolution of the older ‘Reviews’ system, and you can still find it under the ‘Reviews’ tab of Facebook pages. However, instead of using the old star rating system, buyers recommend (or not) a product or a business, share a written opinion, and leave tags and images (should they choose to).

FYI: You can embed Facebook reviews widget  automatically with  EmbedReviews platform.  Start a free trial  and display your Facebook Page recommnedations now.

How to set up your Facebook business page reviews?

You can very quickly and very easily add your Facebook Reviews tab on your official page. Just complete these straightforward steps:

  • Log in to your account and go to your business Facebook page ;
  • Click on your profile image (top-right corner and tap ‘Settings & privacy’ ;

Enable Facebook reviews step 2

That’s it! Now, your ‘Reviews’ tab will be live on your official page, and your customers can share their experiences with your business for everyone to see.

Example of Facebook page reviews tab

Note: Once you activate the ‘Reviews’ tab and start getting feedback, you won’t be able to delete Facebook reviews yourself. You will have to flag innacurate reviews and Facebook’s team will deal with them if they violate Facebook’s Community Standards.

How to get your Facebook Reviews page link?

Google My Business has made getting a  Google review link  easy, but getting a Facebook review link will be a bit different. No worries, we’ll show you two easy ways to do it!

Option 1: Copy the reviews page URL

To get your Facebook Reviews link, you have to follow two simple steps:

  • Log in to your Facebook page —start by logging into your Facebook account and navigating to your official business page;
  • Add ‘/review’ to your page URL —find the browser address bar, click at the end of it, and then simply type ‘/review’ after your page URL;
  • Copy the URL to share it —simply copy the entire string you see in the address bar for future use. For instance, https://www.facebook.com/embedreviews/reviews is EmbedSocial’s Facebook Reviews page link – as shown below:

facebook reviews url

Congratulations, you have it!

Now, share the Reviews link of your Facebook business page across the internet, such as on your website, in emails, in your newsletters, or on your social media platforms, i.e., anywhere you see a chance to invite your customers to review you.

Note: When sending the link, also add a brief explanation on  how your customers can leave you a Facebook review for your product and services.

Option 2: Build your own direct Facebook review link

What if your customers are not logged into their personal or business accounts? If you send them the above link, they’ll be asked to log into Facebook first, which may discourage them from reviewing your business. No worries, here’s a solution to that:

  • Utilize the Facebook login URL ->  www.facebook.com/login/
  • Put a redirect to your reviews page by adding “next” ->  www.facebook.com/login/?next=
  • Convert your page URL into the corresponding equivalent in HTML and add it after the “next” component ->  https://www.facebook.com/login/?next=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fembedreviews%2Freviews%2F

As you can see, it’s not complicated at all! Just replace the colon (:) with %3A and the slash (/) with %2F. That way, whenever the customer logs in to their account, they’ll be redirected to your reviews page. Works like a charm every time!

How can your customers leave you Facebook reviews?

Since the introduction of the ‘Recommendations’ review system, your clients will no longer have to select a number of stars to describe your products and/or services. They only have to navigate to your page’s ‘Reviews’ tab or follow the above ‘Reviews’ link.

write facebook review

Once there, they only have to tap ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ under the ‘Do you recommend [your business name]’ message. Then, the ‘Recommendation’ box will open and prompt users to share their thoughts about your business. They’ll have to write at least 25 characters.

As users leave you new reviews, they will start appearing at the top of the ‘Reviews’ tab feed of your Facebook business page.

How to respond to your Facebook reviews?

You must respond to all (or most of) your Facebook reviews, both positive and negative. That’s the best way to maintain a strong online presence and build trust with your customers.

To respond to Facebook reviews, you will typically get a notification on Facebook or via email , and when you click on it, it will take you directly to that review, so you can check out the review, and provide your reply—it’s as easy as writing a comment on a Facebook post.

Here are some practical  review reply templates  for review responses:

Positive reviews response example:

Hello [Reviewer’s Name], Thank you so much for your kind review! We’re thrilled to hear that you had a great customer experience with our [product/service]. Our team works hard to provide excellent customer service, and we’re glad to see that it’s making a difference. We appreciate your support and would love for you to share your experience with your friends and family. If you have any other feedback or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We look forward to serving you again soon! Warm regards, [Your Name] [Business Name]

Negative reviews response example

Hello [Reviewer’s Name], We apologize for the less than satisfactory experience you had with our [product/service]. It’s essential for us to maintain high standards, and we’re sorry that we did not meet your expectations this time. We’d like to learn more about your experience and find a way to make things right. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience caused, and we appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve and provide better service in the future. Sincerely, [Your Name] [Business Name]

How to report a Facebook review?

Sometimes you may receive fake negative reviews that affect your online reputation. Naturally, you have to deal with negative reviews as soon as possible. But, since you cannot outright delete them, you’ll have to report them for violating Facebook’s Community Standards :

  • Find the negative review in your ‘Reviews’ tab ;

report facebook review

  • Choose to receive notifications about the report and click ‘Submit’ ;

Here’s a brief video covering the entire process:

How to get new reviews for your Facebook business pages?

The fun part starts here: finding cool new ways to motivate your customers to leave you positive Facebook recommendations.

These are some of the strategies you can try out include:

  • Adding a physical ‘Review’ sign at your place of business— you can edit and place the official ‘ Facebook Review Us ‘ stickers anywhere from your counter to your tables, walls, shopping windows, or any other prominent sections of your premises;
  • Use the Facebook Wi-Fi feature— set up Facebook Wi-Fi in your business location to get more customer reviews, which will allow your visitors to hook up to your guest Wi-Fi for free once they check in to your Facebook business page and leave you a review;
  • Embed a digital ‘Review us on Facebook’ button— you can place this button anywhere from your homepage to your blog and social media sites;
  • Create a Facebook contest —you can always stage a discount contest for your customers, who will be able to participate if they leave you a Facebook review;
  • Asking your regular customers— you can always ask for a review outright, especially your regular visitors, which will be included to help you out. You can either ask them in person or send them an email such as this one, along with the promise of a discount:
“Thanks for stopping by again [customer name]”.  “Do you use Facebook? The reason I ask is that we have a Facebook Reviews section that we use to collect our customer’s comments. Would you be interested in posting one?”   Here is our link (link to Facebook reviews section) Thank you so much. [Your Name] [Your Company Name]

Every serious business must collect Facebook reviews/recommendations nowadays as they come with several advantages, including but not limited to the following:

2. They boost your brand credibility

How? A new user visiting your digital marketing agency’s Facebook page sees numerous glowing reviews from satisfied clients. This positive feedback instills confidence in the user, making them more likely to engage with your agency.

3. They improve your search engine ranking

Positive reviews can improve your search engine ranking, as search engines also consider  user-generated content about a certain business in their ranking algorithms.

How? Your restaurant has numerous positive reviews on Facebook. When someone searches for restaurants in your area, your restaurant is more likely to appear higher in the search results due to the positive feedback.

4. They help you gain your visitors’ trust

FAQs about Facebook reviews

Yes, Facebook reviews still exist, but they have evolved into a new format called ‘ Facebook Recommendations ‘, which no longer uses the previous star-based system. Users now recommend (or not) a certain business or product and leave a text-based review. They also have the option to add various tags and relevant images. This new format allows for more context and encourages users to provide more valuable feedback for potential customers.

To see the reviews of your or other businesses, you will have to navigate to the official page and click on the ‘Reviews’ tab underneath the profile image. If the tab is not there, the ‘Reviews’ feature has to be activated through the page’s ‘Privacy’ section.

No, Facebook reviews are not private. When a user leaves a review on a business Page, it is publicly visible to anyone visiting said Page. This allows potential customers to read about the experiences of others, which can influence their decision to engage with the business.

As a business owner, you cannot directly delete Facebook Reviews left by users. However, you can report a review if it violates Facebook’s Community Standards or contains spam. Then, if Facebook determines the review is inappropriate, they may remove it. Alternatively, you can disable the ‘Reviews’ tab on your business Page, which will hide all reviews from your Page, but this will make it harder for potential customers to learn more about your business.

While you cannot directly remove a bad review on Facebook, you can take steps to address it. First, respond to the review professionally and empathetically, offering to address the issue and rectify the situation. If that doesn’t work and you believe the review is from a fake account, spam, or violates Facebook’s Community Standards, you can report it to Facebook for review.

How to give a Facebook Review / Recommendation

Facebook Reviews/Recommendations are a great way to show your support to a fantastic cause, or to help a local company, or simply to say thanks for a great experience.

If you are not sure how to give a Facebook review/recommendation, this short article with show you how.

Step 1: Find the company or charity or organisation you want to review/recommend.

Step 2 & 3: select reviews and then select yes (or no).

Be effusive. Be friendly. Be helpful to anyone who looks at the review.

Step 5. Share your review with Friends (not essential but nice to do)

How do Facebook Reviews help organisations?

1. Research shows that people are heavily influenced by reviews.

2. Recent reviews are often prominent on the organisations Facebook home.

3. They sometimes appear in Google search results.

4. They often appear in Bing search results.

5. Reviews can help organisations get higher ranking in search engines.

6. By sharing your reviews with your circle you are helping to promote them.

Giving a bad Facebook review

If you really want to make your feelings known about a bad experience you have had, or a company that has treated you unfairly, you could give a bad review.

These are powerful ways to get your complaints/opinions seen and they may make an organisation react faster and take you more seriously. However, you must be honest and keep to the facts or you could be sued for damages.

But first I would recommend contacting the organisation and tell them that you are going to give them a negative review and why. This will allow them to rectify or explain their side of the story before it all goes public.

If you are not happy with their response then go ahead; but If you are going to give an organisation a bad review be honest but kind and try to be helpful - i.e. how they could improve. Give exact details of when and where and what went wrong.

Taking this approach will make you look like the reasonable party, avoid litigation, and hopefully elicit a useful response. No one wins a slagging match - everyone just looks bad.

Turn On Reviews For Your Facebook Page

Encourage Customers to Leave Facebook Reviews

Sometimes, all you need to do is ask.

Don’t be afraid to reach out to your customers and politely request them to leave a review on your Facebook page. You can do this through email marketing , social media posts, or even in-store signage.

When reaching out, make writing a review as simple as possible by providing a direct link to your page or instructions on how to navigate there.

A good template you can use to request reviews is:

>Hello [Customer Name],

>We hope you had a great experience with our product/service.

>We would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on our Facebook page.

>It will only take a few minutes, and your review will help us improve our services for future customers.

>Thank you for your support!

Of course, make sure to thank customers who have already left reviews and let them know their feedback is valuable to your business.

Respond To Reviews

Not only should you encourage customers to leave reviews, but also respond to them.

Acknowledge both positive and negative reviews and thank the reviewers for taking the time to share their experiences.

This shows that you care about your customers’ opinions and are willing to address any concerns they may have. It also gives potential customers a positive image of your brand, knowing that you value and engage with feedback.

For example,  you can respond to a positive review by saying:

>Thank you [Reviewer’s Name] for your kind words and support. We are happy to hear that you had a great experience with us.

For negative reviews, try to address the issue and offer solutions or an apology if necessary.

For example,  you can respond to a negative review by saying:

>We apologize for any inconvenience caused, [Reviewer’s Name]. Please send us a direct message so we can further assist you with this issue.

Remember to keep your tone professional, and respectful, and maintain Facebook’s community standards.

Share Positive Reviews On Other Social Media

Sharing positive reviews on your social media platforms is an effective way to promote your brand and encourage others to leave reviews.

If you don’t have any, you can consider purchasing real Facebook reviews as a way to boost your page’s credibility and encourage more reviews from others.

You can also take screenshots of positive reviews and share them on platforms like Instagram or Twitter, along with a link to your Facebook page for people to leave their reviews.

This also shows appreciation for customers who took the time to share their positive experiences.

They may feel more inclined to leave a review again in the future or share your brand with their network, leading to more reviews.

Implement A Review Generation System

Another effective strategy is to implement a review generation system.

This can be as simple as sending an automated email after a customer has made a purchase, asking them to leave a review on your Facebook page.

You can try a pop-up form on your website, offering a discount or freebie in exchange for leaving a review.

Alternatively, you can implement a review generation system for engaged customers who complete a specific action on your website, like the case of SlideModel reviews , where engaged users are invited to leave a review after downloading a presentation template.

Make sure to check Facebook’s policies and guidelines when it comes to incentives for reviews.

Offer Great Customer Service

Customer service is a key factor in getting positive reviews.

Make sure to provide top-notch customer service to every customer, whether it’s through fast shipping, easy returns, or excellent communication.

If customers have a great experience with your business, they are more likely to leave a positive review and recommend your brand to others.

Engage With Your Audience Regularly

Engaging with your audience regularly not only helps build a relationship with them but also reminds them to leave a review.

You can do this by responding to comments and messages, posting interesting content, and running promotions or giveaways.

When customers see your brand actively engaging with its audience, they may feel more inclined to leave a review as they know their feedback will be valued and acknowledged .

For example,  you can post a poll or ask for suggestions on your Facebook page and include a call-to-action to leave a review.

engage with your Facebook reviews

Utilize Facebook Ads

Facebook ads can be a powerful tool in promoting your page and getting more reviews.

You can create an ad specifically targeting people who have recently engaged with your brand or visited your website, encouraging them to leave a review.

By reaching out to those who are already familiar with your brand, they may be more likely to take the time to leave a review.

To create a targeted ad, go to the Ads Manager and select the objective “Get More Page Likes” or “Engagement”.

Facebook ads manager

From there, you can specify your target audience and budget.

Encourage Facebook Check-ins

Another way to increase reviews is by encouraging customers to check in on your business on Facebook.

This not only promotes your page but also makes it easier for customers to leave a review directly from the check-in.

You can offer incentives like discounts or freebies for customers who check in and leave a review, further motivating them to do so.

Add The Facebook Reviews Tab to Your Business Website

If you have a business website, make sure to add the reviews tab to your Facebook page .

This way, potential customers can easily see your overall review rating and read individual reviews without having to leave your website.

It also makes it more convenient for them to leave a review if they are already browsing your site.

How To Leave A Facebook Review

Not only should you try to generate Facebook reviews for your page but leave reviews for other businesses you have purchased from or did business with.

Here’s how to leave a Facebook review:

First, log into your Facebook account and visit the business page you want to review. Scroll down until you see the Reviews section.

Click on the stars to select your rating. A box will pop up asking you to describe your experience.

Write a detailed review being as specific as possible about what you liked or didn’t like. You can also upload photos to support your review.

Once you’re done, click “Post” to publish your review publicly on that page.

FAQs: Generating Facebook Reviews

There could be several reasons why you are not getting reviews on Facebook. It could be due to a lack of customer engagement, negative experiences with your business, or difficulty in leaving a review. But first, make sure you have enabled reviews on your page and have actively encouraged customers to leave reviews.

Facebook does not allow businesses to delete or hide negative reviews. However, you can report a review if it violates Facebook’s policies and guidelines . Otherwise, it is best to respond to the review professionally and try to address any concerns the customer may have.

Yes, you can offer incentives for customers to leave reviews, but make sure to follow Facebook’s guidelines and policies when it comes to offering rewards for reviews.

Final Words

Getting reviews on Facebook is an essential aspect of building a strong online presence and establishing trust with your audience.

By implementing these strategies, you can encourage more reviews and improve your overall review rating on Facebook.

Remember to always respond to reviews, whether positive or negative, professionally and respectfully. This shows that you value and appreciate customer feedback, leading to better customer relationships and more positive reviews in the future.

Remember, a great user experience leads to great reviews , so make sure to prioritize providing excellent customer service at all times.

All good tips Lisa. Engaging your Facebook Fans – and followers in general – regularly influences them to organically publish glowing reviews because they luv ya and wish to express it. Genuinely, it is kinda easy to score these types of reviews since you mainly need to care about the well-being of your tribe, listen to them and show up to respond. Smart post my friend.

Resources To Get More Facebook Reviews

You’ve turned on Facebook reviews for your business page, and customers can finally start dropping in those star ratings and positive reviews you deserve!

But, as with most online marketing tactics, it doesn’t stop there.

Turning on Facebook reviews is just the first step in a long journey to growing your reviews and reputation on Facebook.

There are several strategies and resources you can equip yourself with to get more Facebook reviews over time.

These include the following:

Embed Facebook reviews widgets on your website

Positive Facebook reviews can also be showcased on your website or other social media platforms through widgets. Showing potential customers the star reviews you’ve gained is a method of social proof.

Other customers who have shopped with you may also be more encouraged to drop in reviews if they see reviews. This is especially beneficial for small and local businesses, where mutual friends and family may be using the same service.

Enabling the use of widgets will also make it easy for customers on other platforms to be redirected to your business profile on Facebook directly without having to do a manual Google search for your business name.

Share Google reviews on Facebook

Suppose you already have an established business profile with several reviews on Google, but you’re just getting started on Facebook. In that case, you can “borrow” your Google My Business success and share it on Facebook’s platform.

Pro-tip : tagging customers directly on Facebook, who have left positive reviews on your Google business listing, is also an innovative way to engage with them directly . They may even share the post on their profile, allowing your business to gain more visibility through their extended Facebook networks and linking back to your Google page as well, which provides further detail on how to reach you (ex: your phone number.)

Make Review Request Email & Social Media Campaigns

As mentioned in the previous point, email marketing and social media campaigns are a smart way to boost your brand image to both an existing pool of customers as well as new customers simultaneously. It’s crucial to engage with customers throughout their customer journey, and even more so after a sale or service is complete.

You want to ensure your customers are happy and content with the level of service you’ve provided, and if so, give feedback online.

Pro-tip: create Facebook review email/social templates that you can keep handy. This will save time, allowing you to easily shoot out review requests without getting hung up on the structure or the way you frame it.

Of course, it’s best to customize the requests to write a review depending on your business’s nature and the customers you deal with, but it’s better to be prepared with a bag of tricks than to stress when the opportunity comes!

Facebook provides a multitude of value offerings for businesses that are willing to give it a try. Nothing should hold small business owners and business managers back from wanting to grow their business, especially when there are so many useful tools and platforms to leverage in today’s digital marketing platform.

So, what are you waiting for?

Set up that Facebook Business page and get those business reviews flowing !

How to Leave a Review on Facebook in 2024

A Complete Guide On How To Write A Facebook Review:

A whopping 93% of consumers read online reviews before making a purchase. That’s HUGE. So, your thoughtful review could influence countless decisions, helping businesses thrive or flop. Talk about power at your fingertips!

#Step1: Finding Your Review Battlefield (aka The Facebook Business Page)

Alright, picture this: you’ve just had an experience with a business, good or bad, and you’re itching to share your thoughts on Facebook.

Before you unleash your inner keyboard warrior, let’s navigate to the right place. This isn’t a fight, but more like a strategic mission to provide valuable feedback, so let’s do it right as the first step of “How to write a Facebook review”!

Here’s your mission briefing:

  • Know the Enemy (Kind of): Facebook doesn’t use star ratings anymore, so don’t expect a five-star battle royale. Instead, you’ll choose between “Recommend” and “Don’t Recommend.” Think of it as picking your team – are you cheering them on or raising the red flag?
  • Locate Your Target: Every business has a Facebook page, and that’s where you’ll launch your review. But where exactly is it? Look for the “Reviews” or “Recommendations” section on the page. It’s usually prominently displayed, but if you’re lost, a quick Google search with the business name and “Facebook” should lead you right there.
  • Intel Gathering: Before diving in about how to write a Facebook review, take a moment to scan the existing reviews. What are people saying? This can give you context and help you craft your feedback in a way that adds value to the conversation.

#Step2: Choose Your Weapon (Wisely!)

Okay, you’ve found your target, picked your side, and gathered some intel. Now it’s time to choose your weapon – your words! But remember, Facebook uses a thumbs-up/thumbs-down format, not a traditional star rating system.

Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down? The Crucial Choice:

  • Thumbs Up: You had a positive experience and want to recommend the business to others. Great! But don’t just leave it at that. Share the specifics of what made it amazing!
  • Thumbs Down: Uh oh, things didn’t go as planned. But wait! Negative feedback can be incredibly valuable if done constructively. Focus on offering specific suggestions for improvement, not just venting frustrations.

Remember: Honesty is key, but so is being respectful. Even with a thumbs-down, avoid personal attacks and focus on actionable feedback.

#Step3: Unleash Your Inner Wordsmith (But Keep It Real!)

Here’s where the magic happens! Ditch the generic “great place” comments and dive into the specifics of how to write a Facebook review. Share what happened, why it mattered, and how it made you feel.

Think of it like telling a story:

  • Set the scene: Briefly describe the situation (e.g., ordering food, receiving customer service).
  • Introduce the characters: Mention the staff you interacted with (if relevant).
  • Describe the action: Share what happened, focusing on specific details.
  • Climax!: Highlight the key moment that stood out (positive or negative).
  • Resolution (optional): If applicable, mention how the issue was resolved (if it was).
  • How could the business improve your future experience?

Remember, don’t sugarcoat things just to be nice, but also avoid unnecessary negativity while learning how to write a Facebook review. Focus on actionable feedback that helps the business learn and grow.

Pro tip: Add photos or videos to your review if you have them. Visuals can be incredibly powerful and add another layer of depth to your feedback.

#Step4: Proofread Like a Hawk

So you’ve crafted your review, carefully choosing your words and weaving in valuable insights. Now, before you unleash it to the digital world, it’s time for a crucial step: proofreading like a hawk!

Let’s face it, typos happen to the best of us, and even the most well-written review can lose its impact with a stray grammatical gremlin. Here’s why proofreading matters while getting the hang of how to write a Facebook review:

  • First Impressions Count, Even Online: Your Facebook review might be virtual, but it represents you. Just like you wouldn’t walk into a business meeting with a misspelled shirt, typos, and grammatical errors can create a negative impression, undermining your message’s credibility.
  • Clarity is Key: Remember, your goal is to provide clear and concise feedback. Typos and grammatical errors can muddy the waters, making it difficult for the reader to understand your point. By ensuring your review is error-free, you ensure your message shines through loud and clear.
  • Respect the Business and the Reader: Taking the time to proofread shows respect for both the business you’re reviewing and the people who will read your feedback. It indicates that you care about your words and their impact.

#Step5: Hit That “Post” Button and Watch Your Impact!

Congratulations! You’ve just crafted a review that makes a difference. Now, sit back, relax, and know that your words have the power to help countless others and influence a business’s success.

But wait, there’s more! Want to make your review even more impactful? Consider using a review aggregator like Tagembed to display your reviews across your website and social media profiles.

3 Steps To Creating A Facebook Review Link

To get reviews on Facebook , you need to make sure your customers know where to write a review by sending them a review link.

It’s easy enough to get your Facebook review link. Just open your Facebook Business page in a desktop browser, click on the “Reviews” tab, and copy the URL.

The problem with this, however, is that this review link won’t prompt customers to log in. This means an extra action some customers will have to complete, which can, believe it or not, discourage them.

The key is to make the review process as quick and easy as possible for your customers. This, in turn, will increase the likelihood of them posting a review.

You can do this by creating a Facebook review link with a login prompt . It’s not as hard as it sounds, as we break it down in just three steps.

Why It’s Important To Get Reviews For Your Business

Facebook reviews (Facebook Recommendations) have more benefits than most business owners realize.

And knowing these benefits is important as it will help you understand how Facebook reviews work and, as a result, how you can use them to your advantage.

Facebook reviews are social proof . And with more first-hand endorsements of your products and services, more customers will trust your business.

As it turns out, 88% of customers trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations.

So it’s about building a reputation (through positive reviews and a high star rating) that customers can trust. This will increase your search visibility as well as increase the chance Facebook recommends your business in users’ Feeds.

What’s also worth knowing is that Facebook reviews can appear in search engine results. And if your reviews are positive, this will draw more traffic to your Facebook page.

How To Create A Facebook Review Link: 3 Steps

To get more reviews on Facebook, it’s vital to make writing reviews as easy as possible for customers. In other words: reducing the steps it takes for customers to write a review.

This is why creating your own Facebook review link (with a login prompt) is better than simply using the URL of your Facebook Business review page, as the latter will require some customers to log in first.

There are three steps to creating a Facebook review link:

  • Create a Facebook login URL
  • Modify the URL to redirect customers after login
  • Add your business name to the URL

It sounds technical, but it’s not. You’ll see as we explain each step below.

Step 1: Create A Facebook Login URL

Customers can’t post a Facebook review for your business without logging in to Facebook first.

Most Facebook users will know how to log in if needed, but, again, we’re trying to make it as easy as possible by assisting customers through the process.

All this step requires is adding “/login” to the end of the Facebook homepage URL, so that it looks like this: https://www.facebook.com/login/.

Step 2: Modify The URL To Redirect Customers After Login

After the customer logs in, you want to make sure that the customer is taken to your Facebook Business page – not to the Facebook News Feed.

This ensures the customer won’t have to search for your business or enter your Facebook URL a second time.

To do this, add “?next=” to the end of the Facebook login URL made in step 1, so that it looks like this: https://www.facebook.com/login/?next=.

Step 3: Add Your Business Name To The URL

The final step is to add “https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fyourbusiness%2Freviews%2F” to the URL made in step 2.

However, you’ll need to replace “yourbusiness” with your business name as it reads in the URL of your Facebook page.

Once you have made the change and added it to the URL made in step 2, the final URL—your Facebook review link—should look like this (except with your business name): https://www.facebook.com/login/?next=https://www.facebook.com/yourbusiness/reviews/.

How To Request A Review On Facebook

3 Steps to Creating a Facebook Review Link (1)

Creating your Facebook review link is only half the work, unfortunately. You’ll need to send the review link to customers, needless to say, but you’ll also need to use best practices for your review request to be effective.

This involves two things:

  • Sending your Facebook review requests using the appropriate channels
  • Including a message that encourages the customer to click the link to write a review

The key to creating an effective review request message is to be direct yet friendly while expressing why their feedback is valued.

You can send your review requests using email, SMS, and Facebook messages, but, in general, email is more recommended. Customer emails are easier to collect than phone numbers, and emails are less personal than Facebook messages.

How To Enable Facebook Reviews

It’s no good to send Facebook review request links to your customers if your reviews aren’t turned on. While Facebook reviews are enabled by default, it’s worth checking to make sure!

Thankfully, enabling Facebook reviews takes just five simple steps:

  • Log in to your Facebook Business page
  • Click on “Settings” (located at the top right-hand corner)
  • Click on “Templates and Tabs” (located in the left-hand sidebar)
  • Scroll down to “Show Reviews” (in the “Reviews” section) and click the toggle “On”
  • Click “Save” to confirm the change

Remember: Facebook reviews are enabled by default. So if you find that your Facebook reviews are enabled (the toggle will be green/“On”), make sure not to change the setting.

How To Increase Engagement On Facebook

Your customer reviews are the most important factor determining your business’s reputation on Facebook.

How you interact with customers on Facebook is also important, however, with the potential to increase page traffic and encourage sales.

There are countless ways to engage and interact with your Facebook audience. But to help you out, we’ve listed three key strategies below.

Share User-Generated Content

User-generated content that promotes your business is essentially free marketing. And like customer reviews, it’s more social proof that you can leverage to build your reputation and increase audience engagement on Facebook.

This includes any kind of Facebook content a customer has posted that endorses your products or services. You’ll get notified when it happens, as a Facebook user will tag your business, check-in to your location, or include a hashtag of your business name.

It’s a great way to showcase more positive feedback on your Facebook Business page that followers and new page visitors will see.

Reply To Facebook Reviews

Did you know that 56% of consumers say that the way businesses respond to reviews matters ? This makes it important to respond to Facebook reviews as it can influence customers to trust and use your business.

Most businesses do not respond to reviews. This provides a chance for your business to stand out, however, so it’s worth responding to as many of your Facebook reviews as you can – even the positive reviews.

There are best practices for responding to reviews, and these include responding punctually, professionally, and transparently.

Your responses should always be appreciative, as this will demonstrate that your business cares for its customers and values their feedback – good or bad.

Share Google Reviews On Facebook

Sharing Google reviews on Facebook is more social proof you can use to back up what your positive Facebook reviews are saying.

The good thing about this is that it’s easy to do and provides more engaging content for your Facebook page that users can interact with.

Using Google’s free Marketing Kit , sharing your positive Google reviews on Facebook is as simple as it gets. You can even customize the review as it will appear in your post (such as themes and fonts), which will make the content more visually appealing.

All you need to share Google reviews using Google’s Marketing Kit is a verified Google Business Profile. Google Business Marketing Kit also gives you the ability to create other marketing materials, so it’s a free tool that’s well worth using.

How To Get More Reviews (On All Review Sites)

It isn’t difficult to create a Facebook review link, but there is an easier and more effective way to get reviews for your business – not just on Facebook, but on Google, Yelp , and more.

Having a review link is only half the work, as mentioned. You need to write a persuasive review request to get your customers to click the review link, which you’ll also have to send to all new customers your business deals with.

The easier and more effective method is to automate the process . And it’s the reason why thousands of businesses use ReputationStacker – a tool that will automatically send review requests to your customers using a proven approach to get more reviews.

Ultimately, it’s not necessary to create review links or even put time and effort into a long-term review marketing strategy – not when ReputationStacker will handle all of it for you.

Let's get started.

Why Do You Need Facebook Page Reviews for Your Business?

how to write a facebook review

Today's consumers make their buying decisions via multiple sources of information. Some prefer direct feedback from previous customers, while others will complete their research to formulate opinions. However, one thing all shoppers have in common is being influenced by public feedback.

Whether you manufacture and sell consumables or provide services, having multiple reviews or testimonials from previous customers is exceptionally helpful for increasing new customer sales. While many marketing managers focus on learning how to get reviews on Facebook business page, it’s crucial to understand why it’s important.

Here are three benefits of having reviews for your business published on Facebook.

Benefit #1 – Improve Consumer Confidence

Social media platforms provide consumers with an open forum to express their opinions. It's estimated that many of the 2.3 billion active social media users formulate their opinions based on information they read online.

When a potential customer reads a positive review about your business published on your Facebook business page, it improves their confidence in the quality of your company. In fact, this is also a great way to improve Facebook page ratings.

Benefit #2 - Provides Practical Word-of-Mouth

Many social media platforms require users to verify their identities before establishing their accounts. Facebook is one of the largest social media networks that has activated these policies as a part of its security protocols. When a former or current customer takes the time to publish a review of your business, other users have confidence knowing that it comes from a verified source.

This is essentially a word-of-mouth testimonial or social proof reviews . It's just as powerful as receiving feedback about the integrity of a business or the quality of the products or services they offer from a family member or friend.

Benefit #3 – Provides Valuable Consumer Feedback to Help Improve Your Business

Not all reviews are going to be exceptional. It's nearly impossible to satisfy every customer who interacts with your business. However, although their Facebook review may not be the most flattering, it does provide the business with valuable consumer-direct feedback to discover areas of improvement.

Suppose a customer leaves a bad review on your Facebook business page. In that case, it allows the company to review, reply directly, and attempt to resolve the issue. If you can satisfy the customer with your actions after the review, it can be more beneficial than a positive review.

How to Get Reviews on Facebook: 6 Proven Strategies

Learning how to encourage reviews on Facebook begins with streamlining and simplifying the process for the user. If you've done a great job at providing value, quality products or services and satisfying your customer, the next step in driving reviews on Facebook is helping your customers with the process.

Each of the six proven strategies for getting more Facebook reviews focuses on this task. Let's explore the best ways to accomplish this objective.

Strategy #1 – Automate the Process

how to write a facebook review

Using automated software is an effective way of learning how to request Facebook reviews with very little effort.

Here are three tips for using this service to help boost your Facebook reviews by using this robust software solution.

Tip #1 – Create and Promote Your Product Review Landing Page

Today's consumers prefer the freedom of choice. If they purchased a product from you from Amazon or directly from their website – you can create a single landing page with direct links to multiple online platforms – including Facebook. Start by creating this page – and then provide direct links to platforms you're looking to improve user feedback. Then use this new automated solution to drive traffic to the landing page.

If you'd like to learn more about how automated solutions can save you time and money and drive direct customers to Facebook to write positive reviews, click the link provided below.

Strategy #2 – Create Email Templates

how to write a facebook review

Email marketing is an exceptional solution that helps improve communication between an established brand and its customers. Several email marketing platforms, such as Mailchimp allow you to purchase subscriptions to create email templates, insert relevant content, and automatically schedule email blasts that can drive traffic to specific web pages.

Here are a few tips for using email marketing to stimulate former customers to share their experiences via Facebook.

  • Tip #1:  Send them a direct link to your business Facebook page.
  • Tip #2:  Create a second follow-up or reminder email and schedule it to send a week after the first notification.
  • Tip #3:  Create a final email that thanks to the customers for submitting the Facebook page. You'll likely have to send this one manually after verifying that they've submitted the review.

Strategy #3 – Add Call-To-Action Links or Buttons on Your Website

how to write a facebook review

It's estimated that more than 90 percent of consumers need to visit a company's website more than once to be converted to their brand. It's also estimated that more than half of those converted customers will revisit the website for further education, tutorials, or instructional videos. This presents an excellent opportunity to drive traffic to your Facebook page through a call-to-action on educational pages.

Here are a few practical tips to follow.

Tip #1 – Set Up Call to Action Buttons and Place them On Product or Service Pages

Most former customers will visit a product-specific page to learn more about the products or services they purchased from you. Since it's likely, they will revisit this same page after the purchase – feel free to add a call-to-action to ask for a product review with a direct link to your Facebook page.

Tip #2 – Use Your Blog

Another excellent location for call-to-actions is your blog. This is especially beneficial for sending blogs to former or existing customers. Create the call-to-action that is unique to the blog you're creating – again, with direct links to your social network pages.

Tip #3 – Provide a Call-to-Action on Your Home Page

Many customers will visit your home page before navigating to product-specific pages. Consider adding a CTA on a left-hand side bar of your website's homepage.

Strategy #4 – Use SMS / Text and Email Marketing to Stimulate Interaction

how to write a facebook review

If you've made a great impression on customers – why not use your influence to have them do some marketing for you. One way of doing this is to create SMS / Text templates and emails to ask users to interact with your Facebook page.

Here are some practical tips:

  • Tip #1:  Ask customers to check in on their personal Facebook page when visiting your business. If you own a brick-and-mortar location, ask your customers to check-in to let their friends know that they're revisiting you.
  • Tip #2:  Ask customers to share blogs or videos. This tip is best to send to customers who have left positive reviews of your business. You can insert these blogs and messaging via SMS/Text notifications or email marketing.

Strategy #5 – Create QR Codes and Post them in Public Areas

how to write a facebook review

We've mentioned multiple times in this article the value of simplifying the process of obtaining product reviews for customers. Many customers use their mobile devices for all social media activity. Why not create a QR code with an embedded link to your Facebook business page – with a simple call-to-action requesting a product review?

Here are a few ideas on how to utilize the QR code.

  • Tip #1:  Place the QR code at checkout. Whether you own a physical location with registers or an online store, make it simple for customers by placing the QR code on your Facebook page.
  • Tip #2 – Post the QR code in each blog – on promotional videos and other educational resources.
  • Tip #3:  Send postcards to previous customers thanking them for their business. You can insert the QR code on the postcard to make it easier for them.

Strategy #6 – Ask Users Directly

how to write a facebook review

If you operate a smaller business and have a personal interaction with your customers, consider asking them directly. This is arguably the most challenging thing for anyone to do. However, when you manage a small business and have already established that online reputation and relationship, you'll find it easier to ask for product reviews in person.

Three Tips to Successfully Manage Your Facebook Reviews

The best problem for a business owner or manager is managing a plethora of customer reviews. Since Facebook is primarily an interactive experience, managing your reviews through interaction is a crucial step.

Tip #1 – Respond to Each Review Personally & Promptly

Regardless of the positive or negative review type, people respect prompt and professional replies to their feedback. If you're blessed to have a social media manager or manage your pages individually, go to reply to feedback.

Tip #2 – Set Up Automatic Notifications

To ensure that you have a chance to accomplish the first tip above, you'll need to be alerted to new Facebook business reviews. You can set up user notifications that send emails to you when you get a new Facebook review.

Tip #3 – Turn Negative Reviews into a Positive

If the review is negative – see what you can do to resolve the issue – but do so via private messaging or email.

How to Enable Reviews on Your Facebook Page

how to write a facebook review

It's straightforward to enable for a business owner. Simply follow these steps.

  • Step 1:  Log into your administrator account and navigate your business home page.
  • Step 2:  Click the Settings button located at the top right-hand corner of your page.
  • Step 3:  Click the Edit Page button.
  • Step 4:  Scroll to the Reviews tab and activate Facebook Business Page reviews by changing the slider from OFF to ON.

How to Ask for Reviews on Facebook

While there are several ways to improve the potential of increasing Facebook business page reviews, sometimes the most obvious solution pops up – simply asking customers for reviews. But this can be challenging for many people. Here are some special tips to make it easier.

  • Ask your happiest customers. We mentioned this one above in Strategy #6. If you have difficulty asking people for feedback, start with people you feel comfortable with and build off that momentum.
  • Offer discounts and incentives. Sometimes offering a promotional code for a customer's next purchase will help you receive more reviews. This makes the 'ask' for Facebook or Google reviews easier as you will be providing a reward for the effort.
  • Share other reviews from happy customers via your website, social media, and email marketing. Listing previous reviews on your website can stimulate others into action.

Key Takeaways on How to Get Facebook Reviews

Like any other social media marketing or sales platform, the key to increasing direct user reviews is to make it easier for the customer. Creating dedicated URL links or QR codes is a great way to begin this process. However, sending automated notifications via email or SMS/Text notifications can save you time and money and increase your potential to obtain positive reviews.

Every digital marketing program depends on customer feedback which is easier when they provide an exceptional customer experience. Consider these simple tips and strategies above as you're learning how to get reviews on Facebook, and you'll increase your odds.

FAQs related to Facebook ratings and reviews

How to turn on reviews on facebook.

Facebook has gone through multiple changes in its user setting procedures – and things change frequently. However, as of the summer of 2022 – turning on reviews on a Facebook business page is a simple four-step process:

  • Log in to your administrator account.
  • Click the settings tab.
  • Click the edit page button.
  • Scroll to the Reviews tab and activate Facebook Business Page reviews by changing the slider from OFF to ON.

What is the difference between a recommendation and a review on Facebook?

Sometimes users can be confused about what they are posting on Facebook. Generally, a customer has two options, writing a review or providing a recommendation. A review allows the user to write a review and assign a star rating. A recommendation does not include the star rating – it simply permits others to 'like' or add comments. However, only people in the poster's network can access recommendations.

How many reviews do you need on Facebook to get a rating?

Unfortunately, Facebook does not provide the exact numbers or reviews required to establish a rating. Multiple sources will influence a page rating on Facebook, including the number of recommendations and reviews shared about a business. While numbers are critical, the first criteria are that the business page must first permit recommendations. Another factor is who has access to the review or recommendation. This is determined by the user posting the review – as they can share it with just their friends or share it publicly.

How to get a star rating on my Facebook page?

The star rating system is enabled in the same way you permit user reviews. Once two customers have provided a star rating during their review, this will establish an average rating. The more star ratings received with a higher ranking will increase the potential of 5-star reviews for the business page.

How to add a Facebook 5-star rating to my Fan Page?

Adding Facebook 5-star ratings to a fan page is easy for a page owner to enable. The first step is to click on your Edit Page button. The next step is to select the Update Page toggle, then click the Category button. After this step, select Local Businesses from the first dropdown menu, then select the appropriate category that describes your business in the second dropdown menu. You've enabled the star ratings on a Fan page after you click the save changes button.

Can I get rid of reviews on my Facebook page?

Unfortunately, no, you can't remove reviews posted by private users on a Facebook business listing. Facebook does permit the user to edit, amend, and even delete their review – but the business page owner or administrator does not have this power. One way to resolve negative online reviews is to resolve the negative customer feedback or conflict with the user. Learn how to delete a Facebook review by requesting for it to be removed, but keep in mind that Facebook makes it very difficult to accomplish this task.

How to turn reviews off my Facebook page?

Turning off reviews for your business's Facebook page is very easy. You'll need to log into your administrator account and click the settings tab. Third, click the edit page button. Finally, scroll to the Reviews tab and activate Facebook Business Page reviews by changing the slider from ON to OFF. At this point, the reviews and recommendations will be deactivated.

Facebook Recommendations: Boost Your Business’ Reputation

In today’s digital age, online reviews play a pivotal role in shaping a business’s reputation and success. Facebook started out in 2004 as a social media platform and over the past 19 years it has become so much more. Among the plethora of platforms available for customer feedback, Facebook Reviews (now called Facebook Recommendations) stands out as a useful tool for businesses to showcase their credibility, build trust and engage with their audience. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll explore everything you need to know about Facebook Recommendations and how to make the most of them.

What is Facebook Recommendations?

Facebook Reviews is a feature on the social media platform Facebook that allows users to share their experiences and opinions about businesses, products, or services they have interacted with. Recently, it was renamed to Facebook Recommendations. After the change, users can no longer leave a star rating from 1 to 5, instead they can either recommend or not recommend a certain business. Through Facebook Reviews, users can leave written feedback and provide valuable insights into their interactions with a particular business. These reviews are publicly visible on the business’s Facebook page and can influence the perception of the business among existing and potential new customers.

Businesses can benefit from Facebook Recommendations by showcasing positive feedback as a form of social proof, building trust with their audience, and addressing any concerns or negative feedback to improve their offerings. This feature provides a platform for customers to voice their opinions and for businesses to engage with their audience directly, fostering transparency and accountability.

Why Facebook Recommendations Matter

  • Social Proof : Positive reviews on Facebook act as social proof, assuring potential customers that others have had satisfactory experiences with your business.
  • Trust Building : Reviews contribute to building trust and credibility. They provide a sense of authenticity and transparency, showing that your business values the opinions of its customers.
  • Search Visibility : Facebook Reviews can impact your business’s visibility on search engines. Reviews that recommend your business can lead to higher search rankings, attracting more organic traffic.
  • Customer Engagement : Engaging with reviews, whether they’re positive or negative, demonstrates that your business takes ownership and is committed to improving its services.

Managing Your Facebook Recommendations

To make the most of Facebook Recommendations, you need to actively manage and engage with them. But in order to get reviews on Facebook, you’ll need a Facebook Business Page.

Claim Your Business Page

If you haven’t already, claim ownership of your very own business page on Facebook. This ensures you have control over the information displayed about your business and the ability to respond to reviews. Log into your Facebook account and click the Create button on the top-right corner of the screen, then select the Page option within the pop-up menu.

In the “Create a Page” section enter the name of your business name, choose a category, and add a description. You’ll also be able to see a preview of what the page will look like on desktop and mobile platforms after you enter the information. To finish the initial setup, click on the “Create Page” button at the bottom of the screen. Alternatively, you can just use this direct link to create a page .

Your Facebook business page is now visible, but it will be empty. To fix that, go to the “Page Settings” option on the left side of the screen and click “Page Info”. From here you can add some vital information about your business. Make sure you add a phone number, an email address, a physical address, a website and your hours of operation.

Enable Reviews

Enabling reviews on your business page establishes a two-way street of communication between your brand and your customers. It invites them to contribute to your online presence, helping potential clients gain a comprehensive understanding of your offerings through real experiences. Moreover, positive reviews serve as endorsements that boost your brand’s credibility and trustworthiness. You can find this option in your page’s settings under “Templates and Tabs.”

Respond Promptly

Swiftly addressing reviews demonstrates your responsiveness and approachability. Customers appreciate knowing that their opinions are heard and taken seriously. This practice not only enhances the reviewer’s experience but also showcases your brand’s commitment to excellence in customer service.

Engage Professionally

When you respond to positive reviews with gratitude and appreciation, you not only acknowledge the reviewer’s satisfaction but also reinforce their positive feelings towards your brand. Expressing genuine thanks creates a connection that resonates with them and encourages continued engagement. Thank reviewers for their feedback and address any issues raised.

Dealing with Negative Reviews

Negative reviews are inevitable, but they also present opportunities for improvement for your business. In order to make the most out of them, you can take the following steps.

When faced with a negative review, it’s crucial to maintain a composed and calm demeanour. Refrain from becoming defensive or engaging in confrontational responses. Remember, approaching the situation with a level head can pave the way for constructive dialogue and resolution. By staying composed, you open the door to understanding the customer’s perspective and addressing their concerns effectively.

Address the Issue

Publicly acknowledging the issue raised in the review and proactively providing a solution is a vital step towards showcasing your commitment to customer satisfaction. By addressing concerns openly, you demonstrate your attentiveness and dedication to resolving issues promptly. This not only reassures the dissatisfied customer but also resonates with potential customers who observe your responsiveness.

Take It Offline

Extend a heartfelt invitation to the reviewer to connect with you privately, fostering a channel for in-depth discussion on the matter at hand. This personal touch reflects your commitment to providing tailored solutions and addressing their concerns comprehensively. Private communication grants the reviewer a space to share additional details and perspectives that might not be suitable for public discourse.

Learn and Improve

Consider each negative review as a roadmap to betterment. Examine the feedback with an open mind, seeking ways to bridge the gap between what customers anticipate and what you deliver. This continuous improvement process not only boosts customer satisfaction but also elevates your business’s reputation.

Best Practices for Facebook Recommendations

Here are some best practices to maximise the benefits of Facebook Recommendations:

  • Regularly Monitor Reviews: Set aside time to monitor and respond to reviews consistently.
  • Show Appreciation: Thank customers for positive reviews and express your gratitude for their support.
  • Use Visual Content: Share photos and videos of your products or services in action to enhance your page’s visual appeal.
  • Highlight Positive Reviews: Share positive reviews on your page to showcase customer satisfaction.
  • Stay Genuine: Authenticity matters. Avoid posting fake reviews or incentivizing customers to leave positive feedback.

Frequently Asked Questions about Facebook Recommendations

Did Facebook change reviews to recommendations?

In a 2023 update to its platform, Facebook has rebranded its ‘Reviews’ feature as ‘Recommendations.’ This transition was made with the intention of enabling customers to provide more comprehensive feedback about your business. This adjustment holds the potential to enhance your visibility within the local community and draw a larger customer base.

Who can see Facebook recommendations?

Remember that when an individual offers a business recommendation, they have the option to choose who sees it. For instance, if they opt to share a recommendation with their Friends, only those in their friend list can view it. It’s important to note that only publicly shared Recommendations contribute to a Page’s overall rating.

Is a Facebook recommendation the same as a review?

Facebook Recommendations have replaced Facebook Reviews. The way they work is straightforward: when a user visits your page, they’ll encounter a section labelled Recommendations and Reviews positioned near the top. These have their dedicated user tab, formerly called  “Reviews.”

Can you remove a bad recommendation on Facebook?

Page owners lack the ability to directly eliminate specific reviews. Nonetheless, users have the option to report a review to Facebook’s team for potential removal. However, reviews can only be reported if they have received at least one comment. Addressing negative reviews through comments requires careful consideration and a delicate approach.

Where is the reviews recommendations tab on Facebook?

enable facebook recommendations on your page

To access your Page’s Recommendations, navigate to the Reviews tab situated beneath your cover photo on your Page. In some cases, you might need to first click on “More.” Disabling Recommendations will halt their display and eliminate the associated ratings and reviews from your Page. If a Recommendation or review violates Facebook’s Community Standards, you have the option to report it.

Key Takeaway

Facebook Recommendations offer businesses a valuable avenue to engage with customers, showcase their reputation, and build trust. By actively managing reviews, responding professionally, and using feedback to improve, you can harness the power of customer opinions to enhance your brand’s online presence and credibility. Embrace reviews as opportunities for growth, and remember that every interaction is a chance to leave a positive impression on both existing and potential customers.
