యూట్యూబ‌ర్స్ క‌థ‌...

అర్జున్ (వ‌సంత్ ర‌వి), రీతూ (స‌ర‌స్వ‌తి మీన‌న్‌) భార్య‌భ‌ర్త‌లు. మ‌రో ముగ్గురు స్నేహితులు వ‌రుణ్‌, రాహుల్ గ్రేసీల‌తో క‌లిసి ఓ యూట్యూబ్ ఛాన‌ల్ ర‌న్ చేస్తుంటారు. ద‌య్యాలున్నాయ‌ని ప్ర‌చారంలో ఉన్న బిల్డింగ్‌లు, ప్రాంతాల్లో వీడియోలు షూట్ చేస్తుంటారు. ఇండియాలో వారు చేసిన వీడియోలు స‌క్సెస్ కావ‌డంతో లండ‌న్‌లోని ఓ పురాత‌న భ‌వంతి మిస్ట‌రీని సాల్వ్ చేసే ప్రాజెక్ట్ వారికి వ‌స్తుంది.

హార‌ర్‌కు మైథాల‌జీని మిక్స్ చేస్తూ ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు త‌రుణ్‌తేజ ఈ మూవీని తెర‌కెక్కించారు. అశ్వినీ దేవ‌త‌లు ఇచ్చిన ఓ విగ్ర‌హాలు అనే చిన్న పౌరాణిక క‌థ నేప‌థ్యంలో ఓ పురాత‌న బిల్డింగ్‌లో ఉన్న‌ రాక్ష‌స ఆత్మ‌, దాని గుట్టును ఛేధించే హీరో క‌థ‌తో చివ‌రి వ‌ర‌కు భ‌య‌పెట్టేలా అశ్విన్స్‌ సినిమాను(Asvins Movie Review) న‌డిపించాడు డైరెక్ట‌ర్‌.

పారానార్మ‌ల్ యాక్టివిటీ లాంటి సినిమాల‌తో ఫేమ‌స్ అయినా ఫౌండ్ ఫుటేజ్ అనే టెక్నిక్‌ను అశ్విన్స్‌ సినిమాలో వాడాడు. ఫ‌స్ట్ హాఫ్ మొత్తం ఫౌండ్ ఫుటేజ్ సీన్స్‌తోనే న‌డుస్తుంది ఈ మూవీ. హీరోతో పాటు అత‌డి స్నేహ‌బృందం కెమెరాలో షూట్ చేసిన సీన్స్‌లో హార‌ర్ ఎలిమెంట్స్ బాగా వ‌ర్క‌వుట్ అయ్యాయి.

అశ్విన్స్ మూవీ కంప్లీట్‌గా రివ‌ర్స్ స్క్రీన్‌ప్లేలో సాగుతుంది. హీరో వైఫ్‌తో పాటు అత‌డి స్నేహితులు చ‌నిపోయిన త‌ర్వాతే అస‌లు క‌థ మొద‌ల‌వుతుంది. ఆ త‌ర్వాతే వారి ఫ్లాష్‌బ్యాక్ ఎపిసోడ్స్ చూపించి మ‌ళ్లీ ప్ర‌జెంట్‌లోకి తీసుకొస్తూ స్క్రీన్‌ప్లేతో మ్యాజిక్ చేశాడు డైరెక్ట‌ర్‌. అర్తి రాజ‌గోపాల్ ఎపిసోడ్‌తోపాటు బిల్డింగ్‌లో ఉన్న రాక్ష‌సుడిని ఎదురించే ప‌వ‌ర్ హీరోకు మాత్ర‌మే ఎలా వ‌చ్చింద‌నే లాజిక్‌గా కూడా క‌న్వీన్సింగ్‌రాసుకున్నాడు. కంప్లీట్‌గా ఒకే బిల్డింగ్‌లో చాలా వ‌ర‌కు ఈ మూవీ సాగుతుంది. సౌండ్ ఎఫెక్ట్స్‌తోనే చాలా సీన్స్‌లో భ‌య‌పెట్టాడు.

ఇక కథ లోకి వస్తే..ఓ ఇండియన్ వ్లాగర్ అర్జున్(వసంత్ రవి) లండన్ లో వ్లాగ్స్ చేస్తూ ఉంటాడు. అయితే తాను తన టీం తో ఒక హాంటెడ్ హౌస్ ని వ్లాగ్ చేయడానికి వెళ్తారు. ఇక ఆ ఇంటికి వెళ్ళాక వారి టీం ఆ ఇంట్లో కొన్ని అనుమానాస్పద అంశాలు జరుగుతున్నట్టుగా గుర్తిస్తారు. మరి అక్కడ నుంచి ఏం జరిగింది?ఇంతకీ ఆ ఇల్లు ఎవరిది? అక్కడేం జరిగింది? ఆర్తి రాజగోపాల్(విమలా రామన్) పాత్ర ఈ సినిమాలో ఏంటి? ఇంతకీ వారు ఆ ఇంటి నుంచి బయటకి వచ్చారా లేదా అనేది తెలియాలి అంటే ఈ చిత్రాన్ని చూడాల్సిందే.

ఈ సినిమా చూసాక మొదటగా బాగా ఇంప్రెస్ చేసే అంశం ఏదన్నా ఉంది అంటే అది ఈ సినిమా సౌండ్ డిజైన్ అని చెప్పాలి. ఈ తరహా హారర్ లేదా సస్పెన్స్ థ్రిల్లర్ చిత్రాలకి ఈ సౌండ్ చాలా ముఖ్యం. కానీ ఈ చిత్రంలో ఈ సౌండ్ డిజైన్ పలు కీలక సన్నివేశాల్లో అయితే మరింత థ్రిల్లింగ్ ఎక్స్ పీరియన్స్ ని అందిస్తుంది.

ఇక దీనితో పాటుగా ఈ సినిమాలో విజువల్స్ కూడా యూనిక్ గా ఉన్నాయి. అలాగే కొన్ని హారర్ సహా మైథలాజికల్ సన్నివేశాలు ఆడియెన్స్ లో మంచి ఆసక్తిని రేకెత్తిస్తాయి. ఇక మెయిన్ లీడ్ లో కనిపించిన నటుడు వసంత్ రవి సాలిడ్ పెర్ఫామెన్స్ ని తన పాత్రలో అందించాడు. తన రోల్ ప్రొసీడింగ్ మెల్లగానే స్టార్ట్ అయినా క్లైమాక్స్ కి అయితే నెక్స్ట్ లెవెల్లో అనిపిస్తుంది. ఇక మరో నటి విమలా రామన్ కి స్క్రీన్ స్పేస్ కొద్దిగా తక్కువ ఉన్నా కూడా మంచి రోల్ లో అయితే తాను కనిపించారు.

మైనస్ పాయింట్స్ :

ఈ చిత్రంలో కథ బాగున్నప్పటికీ నరేషన్ మాత్రం ఒకింత అర్ధం చేసుకోవడానికి మాత్రం కష్టతరంగా అనిపించవచ్చు. దీనితో అన్ని వర్గాల ఆడియెన్స్ కి ఈ చిత్రం ఒకేసారి కనెక్ట్ కాదు. అలాగే సినిమాలో ఆసక్తిగొల్పే సన్నివేశాలు ఉన్నాయి కానీ పలు చోట్ల మాత్రం నరేషన్ డల్ గా కొనసాగుతుంది.

అలాగే కొన్ని అంశాలు ఇంకా నీట్ గా ప్రెజెంట్ చేసి ఉంటే బాగుండేది. అలాగే సినిమాలో కొన్ని ఇంపార్టెన్స్ ఉన్న సీక్వెన్స్ లో వి ఎఫ్ ఎక్స్ లు చాలా సింపుల్ గా తెలిసిపోతూ ఉంటాయి. వాటిని ఇంకా బెటర్ గా చేయాల్సింది. మెయిన్ గా క్లైమాక్స్ లో ఇంకా బెటర్ గా చేయాల్సింది. అలాగే కాస్టింగ్ పరంగా మరికొన్ని జాగ్రత్తలు తీసుకోవాల్సింది.

సాంకేతిక వర్గం :

ఈ సినిమాలో నిర్మాణ విలువలు బాగున్నాయని చెప్పొచ్చు. మెయిన్ గా టెక్నీకల్ టీం లో సౌండ్ అండ్ సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ క్రాఫ్ట్ వర్క్స్ ఈ చిత్రంలో నెక్స్ట్ లెవెల్లో అయితే ఉంటాయి. ఎడిటింగ్, డైలాగ్స్ బాగున్నాయి. వి ఎఫ్ ఎక్స్ కొన్ని చోట్ల బెటర్ చేయాల్సింది.

ఇక దర్శకుడు తరుణ్ తేజ విషయానికి వస్తే తాను ఈ థ్రిల్లర్ ని హ్యాండిల్ చేయడంలో చిన్న చిన్న ఫ్లాస్ తో అయితే సక్సెస్ అయ్యాడని చెప్పొచ్చు. ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్ సెటప్ తీసుకొని సాలిడ్ టీం వర్క్ తో అయితే ఓ క్రేజీ హారర్ థ్రిల్లర్ ని తాను తెరకెక్కించిన విధానానికి మెచ్చుకొని తీరాలి. సినిమాలో తాను చూపించిన కలర్ స్కీమ్స్ గాని సౌండ్ డిజైనింగ్ గాని మూవీ లవర్స్ ని ఆకట్టుకునేలా ఉంటాయి.

ఇక మొత్తంగా చూసినట్టు అయితే ఈ “అస్విన్స్” అక్కడక్కడా కొన్ని ఎలిమెంట్స్ వరకు బాగుంది అనిపిస్తుంది. టెక్నికల్ ఎలిమెంట్స్ పరంగా ఈ చిత్రం ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది. అలాగే మెయిన్ లీడ్ సాలిడ్ పెర్ఫామెన్స్ లు కూడా ఆకట్టుకోగా కొన్ని బోరింగ్ సీన్స్ తో సినిమా కాస్త పేలవంగా అనిపిస్తుంది. మరి వీటితో తక్కువ అంచనాలు పెట్టుకొని ఈ సినిమా ఓసారికి చూడొచ్చు.

మ‌నిషి మెద‌డు రెండు ర‌కాలుగా ఆలోచిస్తుంటుంది. ఒక‌టి దైవ‌త్వంతో కూడిన ఆలోచ‌న‌ల‌తో ఉంటే మ‌రోటి మాత్రం చెడు ఆలోచ‌న‌తో రాక్ష‌స‌త్వంగా ఆలోచిస్తుంటుంది. మ‌న మ‌నసుల్లో రాక్ష‌సుడిని జ‌యించ‌నీయ‌కుండా మ‌నమే ఎప్ప‌టిక‌ప్పుడు జాగ్ర‌త్త‌లు తీసుకుంటూ ఉండాలి. లేక‌పోతే దాని ప‌ర్య‌వ‌సానాల‌ను మ‌నం ఊహించ‌లేం అని చెప్పే క‌థాంశంతో రూపొందిన సినిమాయే ‘అశ్విన్స్’..

'Asvins' movie review: An effective folklore-horror elevated by brilliant sound design

With Asvins, debut director Tarun Teja adds folklore and chimerical elements to the horror genre giving it a rewarding twist. The union of mythology and ghastliness in the film especially leaves our hearts rightfully thumping for most parts of the runtime. Asvins revolves around a motley group of YouTubers who visit London to shoot a black tourism video.

They enter a haunted house to make a documentary, but they become victims of a 1000-year-old curse revolving around the Hindu deities Asvini Kumars. The rest of the film explores how they break themselves free from the complicated curse.

Asvins is split into five different chapters, just like a horror novel. The prologue of the film tells the story of the curse and introduces us to the non-linear narrative. The cinematography and impeccable sound design puts us in the middle of all the action and giving us first-hand experience of the horror. The writing of Tarun Teja gets outstandingly elevated by Vijay Siddarth, whose background score and sound design are the soul of Asvins. The adrenaline rush in Asvins is majorly delivered by the sound, which hits us even before the eerie visuals.

A minor setback in the film would possibly be the story. Although there are multiple fables stitched into the film, the attempt to milk out the entire potential from folklore and mythology feels wanting. Perfect casting is one of the biggest plus points of Asvins. Vasanth Ravi’s previous films Taramani and Rocky, which featured him as an intense performer, seem to have prepped him for this rather demanding role. His countenance is perfectly apt for spectral and monstrous sequences.

His tall build, his excessively large, expressive eyes, and his blood-curdling screams perfectly complement the ominous world of Asvins. Vimala Raman, on the other hand, leaves a terrific mark with her brief yet significant portion.

Asvins in many ways is a psychological horror and the film also leaves an important message about the mind. In one of the last frames of the film, a character says, “Everyone is as strong as their strongest mind.” I saw that as a disclaimer by the makers declaring that their film isn’t for the faint-hearted, well, they clearly aren’t wrong!

Asvins' story is all about the experiences of young YouTubers who are on a Black Tourism project. Youtubers Arjun (Vasanth Ravi), Rithu aka Rithvika (Saras Menon), Varun (Muralidaran Subramanian), Rahul (Udhaya Deep) and Grace (Malina Atul) are popular for their spooky videos and as their popularity grows, they get an opportunity from UK for a Black Tourism project. They go to a lonely mansion to get going with their project. Where this leads to and who is Arthi Rajagopal (Vimala Raman) and what experiences they encounter form the crux of Asvins.

Vasanth Ravi who played the lead role came up with good expressions and emotions at crucial moments. Vimala Raman played an important role and she did justice to her character. Others like Saras Menon,Muralidaran Subramanian, Udhaya Deep and Melina Atul got equal screen presence and they are ok with their performances.

Asvins story penned by Tarun Teja is based on the most popular and trending topic of black tourism across the world. He correlated it with the Hindu scriptures and wove a story connecting to Gods Asvini Twins. He stuck to the point right from the start in his narration and generated interest from the beginning. He created curiosity and increased it with dialogues that are impactful.

He narrated the first half in three Chapters, Two Deaths, Two Voices, and Two Souls. The interval twist ends the first half perfectly setting the tone for the second half. However, the second half which comprised of two chapters Mind of Two Worlds and World of Two Minds turned out to be routine. Though the story is predictable and routine after a point of time and interest levels dip with repetitive scenes, he maintained the curiosity intact with dialogues on two sacred idols, missing bodies, visiting of deaths and tragedies, two minds, two heads, seeing light in the darkness, intermediate stage after death from where persons try to communicate. All these dialogues are thought-provoking and give a unique feel.

Tarun Teja on debut emerged successful with his good screenplay and direction. Except for a few scenes and instances, he did a good job. However, he should have concentrated more on creating more spooky and fearful scenes rather than repeating the same spooky scenes most of the time.

AM Edvin Saakey used the camera angles to perfection. He used his skills to create the fear factor in the dark angles. The lighting effect is minimum and the dark shades are shown quite well in the film to create a maximum impact. Vijay Siddhath's background music turned out to be top-class. He elevated the scenes with his background score. The sound mixing and recording created a maximum impact. Dialogues are ok and production values are good.

Altogether Asvins is an average thriller. Tarun Teja tried his best to take viewers on a horror and scary ride on Black Tourism. However, more than the story, screenplay, and direction, he depended on creating fear with few spooky elements and repeating the same scary scenes. Had Tarun Teja turned out to be more creative and come up with a strong story, he could have made a stunning impact. Considering all these elements Cinejosh goes with a 2 Rating for Asvins.

హారర్ థ్రిల్లర్ చిత్రాల పట్ల యూత్ ఎక్కువ ఆసక్తిని చూపుతూ ఉంటుంది. యూత్ లో కొంతమందికి భయం ఉన్నప్పటికీ, భయపడుతూనే చూడటానికి వాళ్లు సిద్ధమవుతుంటారు. అందువలన ఈ తరహా జోనర్లో రూపొందిన సినిమాలు ఓటీటీ ఫ్లాట్ ఫామ్స్ నుంచి కూడా మంచి రెస్పాన్స్ ను రాబడుతుంటాయి. అలాంటి జోనర్లో ఈ రోజున తెలుగు .. తమిళ భాషల్లో థియేటర్లకు వచ్చిన సినిమానే 'అశ్విన్స్'. A సర్టిఫికెట్ తో వచ్చిన ఈ సినిమా, ఏ రేంజ్ లో ప్రేక్షకులను భయపెట్టిందనేది ఇప్పుడు చూద్దాం.  సాధారణంగా టైటిల్ వినగానే ఇది డబ్బింగ్ సినిమానేమో అనే ఒక డౌట్ రావడం సహజం. కానీ ఇది తెలుగు సినిమానే. ఇక్కడ 'అశ్విన్స్' అంటే అశ్వనీదేవతలు అని అర్థం. అశ్వనీ దేవతలు .. దేవతా వైద్యులు. వాళ్లతో ఈ కథకి లింక్ ఉంది .. వాళ్లతోనే ఈ కథ మొదలవుతుంది. అందువలన ఈ సినిమాకి ఈ టైటిల్ ను సెట్ చేసుకున్నారు. అర్థం లేనట్టుగా .. అర్థం కానట్టుగా అనిపించినా, సినిమాపై కుతూహలాన్ని పెంచడానికి టైటిల్ కారణమైందనే చెప్పాలి. ఒక రైతు తన ఇద్దరు కొడుకులు చనిపోవడంతో, వాళ్లని బ్రతికించమని కోరుతూ అశ్వనీ దేవతలను ప్రార్ధిస్తాడు. వారు ఒక పిల్లవాడినే బ్రతికించి .. తమ ప్రతి రూపాలుగా రెండు బొమ్మలను ఇస్తారు. ఆ రెండు బొమ్మలను కలిపే ఉంచాలనీ .. విడదీయడానికి ప్రయత్నిస్తే అనర్థం జరుగుతుందని హెచ్చరిస్తారు. తమ ఆశీస్సుల కారణంగా ఆ రైతు కొడుక్కి సహజ మరణం సంభవిస్తుందనీ, అతని ప్రాణాలకు ఎవరి వలన ఎలాంటి ప్రమాదం ఉండదని సెలవిస్తారు.  ఈ మాటలను ఒక దుష్టశక్తి వింటుంది. మారు వేషంలో ఆ పిల్లవాడిని మంచి చేసుకుంటుంది. తనకి ఒక బొమ్మ ఇస్తే, అతనికి సోదరుడిని తాను తీసుకొస్తానని అంటుంది. అలా ఆ పిల్లవాడి దగ్గర నుంచి తీసుకున్న బొమ్మ సాయంతో, పాతాళంలో ఉన్న మరో దుష్ట శక్తిని భూలోకానికి తీసుకొస్తుంది.  ఆ దుష్ట శక్తి ఆ పిల్లవాడి సోదరుడి రూపంలో ఆ గ్రామంలోకి అడుగుపెడుతుంది. అప్పటి నుంచి ఆ ఊళ్లో అన్నీ అనర్థాలు  జరగడం మొదలవుతుంది.     ఇదిలా ఉండగా .. ఈ రోజుల్లో కొంతమంది యూ ట్యూబర్లు ప్రాచీన కాలం నాటి కోటలను .. భయంకరమైన గుహలను కవర్ చేస్తూ ఈ రంగంలో ఉన్న పోటీని తట్టుకుంటున్నారు. అలా ఓ ఐదుగురు స్నేహితులు కలిసి 'బ్లాక్ టూరిజం' కోసం లండన్ లోని ఓ దీవిలో గల పాడుబడిన బంగ్లాకు వెళతారు. ప్యాలెస్ ను తలపించే ఆ బంగ్లాను విక్రమ్ రాజగోపాల్ కొనుగోలు చేస్తాడు. ఆ తరువాత ఆ బంగ్లా ఆయన కూతురు ఆర్తి రాజగోపాల్ (విమల రామన్) సొంతమవుతుంది. ఆర్కియాలజీ డిపార్టుమెంటులో పనిచేసే ఆర్తి రాజగోపాల్, అశ్వనీదేవతల బొమ్మల గురించిన సమాచారాన్ని సేకరిస్తూ ఉంటుంది. అలాంటి ఆమె ఆ బంగ్లాలో ఆత్మహత్య చేసుకుందనీ, ఆమె సిబ్బంది అంతా మరణించారనే సమాచారం ఉంటుంది. అయితే ఒక్క ఆమె శవం మాత్రం లభ్యం కాకపోవడం ఒక మిస్టరీగా మిగిలిపోతుంది. ఆమె ఏమైంది? ఆ బంగ్లాలో ఏం జరుగుతోంది? అక్కడికి వెళ్లిన యూ ట్యూబర్స్ కి ఎలాంటి ప్రమాదకరమైన పరిస్థితులు ఎదురవుతాయి? అనేది మిగతా కథ.  ఇప్పుడు ఈ కథలో ఒక వైపున అశ్వనీ దేవతల నుంచి వరాన్ని అందుకున్న కుర్రాడు .. మాయచేసి అతని దగ్గర నుంచి ఒక అశ్వనీ దేవత ప్రతిమను కాజేసిన దుష్టశక్తి .. మరో వైపున లైఫ్ లో సెటిలైపోవాలనే ఉద్దేశంతో రిస్క్ చేయడానికి సిద్ధపడిన యూ ట్యూబర్లు .. లండన్ భవంతిలో ఆత్మగా  తిరుగుతున్న ఆర్తి రాజగోపాల్ ట్రాకులు ప్రధానంగా నడుస్తూ ఉంటాయి. ఈ నాలుగు ట్రాకులు ఈ బంగ్లాకు చేరుకుని దాని కేంద్రంగానే కథను ముందుకు తీసుకుని వెళతాయి.  నిజానికి ఇది కాస్త 'చందమామ' కథలా .. మరి కాస్త హాలీవుడ్ హారర్ మూవీలా అనిపిస్తుంది. దర్శకుడు అశ్వనీ దేవతలకి సంబంధించిన లీడ్ అంతా కూడా వాయిస్ ఓవర్ తో .. పెయింటింగ్స్ తో లాగించేశాడు. ఆ తరువాత నుంచి దెయ్యాల బంగ్లాకి సంబంధించిన కథ మొదలవుతుంది. రైతు కొడుకులు .. అశ్వనీదేవతలు ..  రైతుకు తమ ప్రతిమలు ఇవ్వడం .. ఆ బొమ్మలు ఒకదానితో ఒకటి కట్టి ఉండాలనే నియమం .. ఇవన్నీ ఈ కథకి అవసరమా? అనిపించకమానదు. పొంతనలేని రెండు అంశాలను తీసుకుని .. ఆ రెండింటిని కలపడానికి దర్శకుడు చాలా కష్టపడవలసి వచ్చింది. పాపం ఆయన ఎంత కష్టపడినా అవి మాత్రం అతకలేదు. ఒక కొడుకును బ్రతికించిన అశ్వనీ దేవతలకు .. రెండో కొడుకును బ్రతికించే శక్తి లేదా? అనే చిన్న డౌట్, ఈ పాయింట్ కి ప్రేక్షకులను కనెక్ట్ కాకుండా చేస్తుంది. ఇక మరణం గురించి .. ఆత్మల గురించి హీరో చెప్పే మాటలు వింటే ఇది డబ్బింగ్ సినిమానేమో అనిపిస్తుంది. ఎందుకంటే ఆ తర్కం .. ఆ లాజిక్ సామాన్య ప్రేక్షకులకు అర్థం కాదు.   ఇక దర్శకుడిని ఒక విషయంలో మాత్రం అభినందించవచ్చు. సినిమా మొదలైన పావు గంటవరకూ తెరపై ఆర్టిస్టులు ఎవరూ కనిపించకుండా, కేవలం అరుపులు .. కేకలు .. సౌండ్ ఎఫెక్ట్స్ తో భయపెట్టేశాడు. దర్శకుడు ఎంచుకున్న బంగ్లా .. లొకేషన్స్ కథకి తగినట్టుగా ఉన్నాయి. ఆయన టేకింగ్ కూడా బాగుంది. కాకపోతే ఫస్టాఫ్ స్థాయిలో సెకండాఫ్ ను డిజైన్ చేసుకోలేకపోయాడు. విజయ్ సిద్ధార్థ్ బ్యాక్ గ్రౌండ్ స్కోర్ .. ఎడ్విన్ ఫొటోగ్రఫీ ఈ సినిమాకి హైలైట్ అనే చెప్పాలి. ఒక్కో సందర్భంలో తల పైకెత్తి తెర వైపు చూడాలంటే ఆలోచించుకునేలా వాళ్లు తమ టాలెంట్ చూపించారు. వెంకట రాజన్ ఎడిటింగ్ కూడా మంచి మార్కులు తెచ్చుకుంటుంది.  ప్లస్ పాయింట్స్: టేకింగ్ .. బ్యాక్ గ్రౌండ్ స్కోర్ .. ఫొటోగ్రఫీ .. లొకేషన్స్ .. ఫస్టాఫ్.   మైనస్ పాయింట్స్: కథకి అతకని అశ్వనీ దేవతల అంశం .. ఆత్మల విషయంలో అర్థంకాని హీరో థియరీ .. సెకండాఫ్ లో తిరిగి కథ మొదలైన కాసేపటికే ప్రేక్షకులను గందరగోళంలోకి తీసుకెళ్లే అంశాలు. ప్రేక్షకుల ఆలోచనలకు అందని సంభాషణలు. * చాలా తక్కువ పాత్రలతో .. ఒక బంగ్లాకి పరిమితమైన కథ ఇది. ఫస్టాఫ్ లో భయపెడుతుంది .. సెకండాఫ్ లో గందరగోళంలోకి నెడుతుంది.

తమిళ చిత్రాలు 'తరమణి', 'రాకీ'తో యువ హీరో వసంత్ రవి (Vasanth Ravi) పేరు తెచ్చుకున్నారు. రజనీకాంత్ 'జైలర్'లోనూ నటించారు. ఆయన హీరోగా నటించిన సినిమా 'అశ్విన్స్' (Asvins Movie). ఓ 20 నిమిషాల పైలట్ ఫిల్మ్ ఆధారంగా తీసిన చిత్రమిది. ఇదొక సైకలాజికల్ హారర్ థ్రిల్లర్. ఈ ఏడాది 'విరూపాక్ష'తో ప్రేక్షకులకు థ్రిల్లింత అందించిన శ్రీ వెంకటేశ్వర సినీ చిత్ర సంస్థ నుంచి వస్తున్న చిత్రమిది. 'అశ్విన్స్' కూడా 'విరూపాక్ష' తరహాలో భయపెడుతుందా? థ్రిల్ అందిస్తుందా?

కథ (Asvins Movie Story) : అర్జున్ (వసంత్ రవి), రీతూ అలియాస్ రిత్విక (సారస్ మీనన్), వరుణ్ (మురళీధరన్ సుబ్రమణియన్), రాహుల్ (ఉదయ దీప్), గ్రేస్ (మలినా అతుల్) యూట్యూబర్స్! దెయ్యాలు ఉన్నాయని జనాలు వెళ్ళని ఇళ్ళల్లో వీడియోలు చేయడం వాళ్ళ వృత్తి. ఇండియాలో వాళ్ళు చేసిన వీడియోలు చూసి యూకేలో బ్లాక్ టూరిజం ప్రాజెక్ట్ ఒకటి వస్తుంది. లండన్ నగర శివార్లలో ఉన్న ఓ దెయ్యాల కోటలో ఏముందో రికార్డ్ చేయాలి. ఒక్కప్పుడు ఆ భారీ భవంతిలో ఆర్కియాలజిస్ట్ ఆర్తి రాజగోపాల్ (విమలా రామన్) నివాసం ఉండేవారు. సుమారు పదిహేను మంది శవాలుగా దొరికిన తర్వాత ఆ భవంతిలోకి జనాలు వెళ్ళడం మానేశారు. ఆర్తి రాజగోపాల్ శవం మాయం అవుతుంది. అందులోకి వెళ్లిన అర్జున్ అండ్ గ్యాంగ్ ప్రాణాలతో బయటకు వచ్చారా? లేదా? అనేది సినిమా చూసి తెలుసుకోవాలి.

విశ్లేషణ (Asvins Review ) : 'నిశ్శబ్దం ఎంత భయంకరంగా ఉంటుందో చూశావా!' - 'అతడు' సినిమాలో డైలాగ్! హారర్ సినిమా ప్రేమికులకు నిశ్శబ్దంలోని భయం ఎలా ఉంటుందో బాగా తెలుసు. నిజానికి నిశబ్దంలోనూ ఓ శబ్దం ఉంటుంది. ఒకవేళ శబ్దమే నిశ్శబ్దాన్ని ఆవహిస్తే? కంటికి కనిపించే దృశ్యానికి శబ్దం తోడుగా నిలిచి ప్రేక్షకుల మదిలోకి దూరి వెంటాడితే? వేటాడితే? అటువంటి థ్రిల్లింత కోసం థియేటర్లకు వెళ్ళే ప్రేక్షకులు ఎంతో మంది! అటువంటి వాళ్ళకు అమితంగా నచ్చే సినిమా 'అశ్విన్స్'. 

దెయ్యాల కోటలోకి ఐదుగురు వెళతారు. వాళ్ళను దెయ్యం ఎలా వెంటాడి, వేటాడి చంపింది? లేదంటే దెయ్యం నుంచి ఐదుగురూ తప్పించుకున్నారా? - క్లుప్తంగా చెప్పాలంటే 'అశ్విన్స్' కాన్సెప్ట్ ఇది. నిజం చెప్పాలంటే... ఇంటర్వెల్ వరకు కథ ముందుకు కదలదు. కానీ, ప్రతి అడుగులో ప్రేక్షకులకు థ్రిల్, హారర్ అనుభూతి ఇచ్చాడు దర్శకుడు తరుణ్ తేజ. వందల హారర్ థ్రిల్లర్స్ చూసిన ప్రేక్షకులకు షాట్స్, విజువల్స్ కొత్తగా అనిపించవు. రెగ్యులర్ హారర్ మూమెంట్స్ స్క్రీన్ మీద వస్తుంటాయి. అయినా సరే భయపడతారు. అంతలా మ్యూజిక్ డైరెక్టర్ విజయ్ సిద్ధార్థ్, సినిమాటోగ్రాఫర్ ఎడ్విన్ సాకేలతో తరుణ్ తేజ మేజిక్ చేశారు. విశ్రాంతికి వచ్చేసరికి ప్రేక్షకులకు టికెట్ రేటుకు సరిపడా థ్రిల్, భయాన్ని అందించేశారు. 

'అశ్విన్స్' థియేటర్లలో అడుగుపెట్టిన ప్రేక్షకులను భయపెట్టడంలో సంగీత దర్శకుడు విజయ్ సిద్ధార్థ్ ప్రధాన పాత్ర పోషించారు. ఆఫ్ స్క్రీన్ అసలైన హీరో ఆయనే. ఆ తర్వాత సినిమాటోగ్రాఫర్. విజువల్స్ ఎక్స్ట్రాడినరీ. సౌండ్ డిజైన్, ఎడిటింగ్ & లైటింగ్ కూడా సూపర్బ్! నిర్మాణ విలువలు బావున్నాయి.

కథ, దర్శకత్వం విషయానికి వస్తే... తరుణ్ తేజ చేసిన వర్క్, డిటైలింగ్ ప్రతి మాటలో, ప్రతి సన్నివేశంలో తెలుస్తూ ఉంటుంది. ఆయనలో చాలా విషయం ఉంది. రైటింగ్, విజువల్స్ పరంగా ఫస్ట్ ఫీచర్ ఫిలింను ఈ స్థాయిలో తీయడం అంటే మామూలు విషయం కాదు. హారర్ అండ్ మైథాలజీని మిక్స్ చేసిన తీరు బావుంది. హారర్ మాత్రమే చూసే ప్రేక్షకులకు రెగ్యులర్ భయం, రొటీన్ షాట్స్ మాత్రమే తెరపై కనపడతాయి. లోతుగా చూస్తే... తెరపై చూసేది నటీనటుల భ్రమా? లేదంటే నిజమా? అని క్లూస్ ఇస్తూ వెళ్లారు తరుణ్ తేజ. రియాలిటీ ఏది? ఇల్యూజన్ ఏది? అని పేక్షకులకు పజిల్ ఇచ్చారు. సబ్ కాన్షియస్ మెమరీలో అక్కడ గ్రీన్ లైట్ ఎందుకు వచ్చింది? మరో వైపు రెగ్యులర్ లైటింగ్ ఎందుకు ఉంది? అని ఆలోచన మెదులుతూ ఉంటుంది. ఆ సస్పెన్స్ మైంటైన్ చేయడంలో సక్సెస్ అయ్యాడు. భయపెట్టారు కూడా!

అయితే... కొన్ని విషయాలను రిపీట్ చేశారు. సినిమా స్టార్టింగ్ చెప్పిన కథను మళ్ళీ ఇంటర్వెల్ తర్వాత ఆర్తీ రాజగోపాల్ చేత చెప్పించడంతో ఎఫెక్ట్ మిస్ అయ్యింది. ఇంటర్వెల్ వరకు ఉన్నంత స్పీడ్ ఆ తర్వాత మిస్ అయ్యింది. అప్పటికే చాలా థ్రిల్ ఇచ్చాం కనుక చాలు అనుకున్నారేమో!? కథ మొదలైన తర్వాత హారర్, థ్రిల్ మూమెంట్స్ తగ్గాయి. మళ్ళీ క్లైమాక్స్ వచ్చేసరికి స్పీడ్ అందుకుంది. పతాక సన్నివేశాలు సీట్ ఎడ్జ్ థ్రిల్ ఇస్తాయి.

నటీనటులు ఎలా చేశారు? : సాధారణంగా హారర్ థ్రిల్లర్ సినిమాల్లో నటీనటులకు ప్రతిభ చూపే అవకాశం తక్కువ ఉంటుంది. 'అశ్విన్స్' ఫస్టాఫ్ వరకు ఆ మాటలో కొంత నిజం ఉందనిపిస్తుంది. కొన్ని సీన్లు మినహా ఆర్టిస్టులకు పెద్దగా నటించే ఛాన్స్ రాలేదు. ఇంటర్వెల్ తర్వాత విమలా రామన్ ఆ మాటను చెరిపేశారు. ఫ్లాష్ బ్యాక్ తర్వాత నుంచి వసంత్ రవి అయితే విజృంభించారు. ముఖ్యంగా పతాక సన్నివేశాల్లో నేపథ్య సంగీతానికి తోడు ఆయన నటన మరింత ఉత్కంఠ పెంచుతుంది. హీరో తప్ప మిగతా వాళ్ళ క్యారెక్టర్స్ అంత బలంగా లేవు. వాళ్ళ మధ్య బాండింగ్ చూపించే సన్నివేశాల్లో డెప్త్ మిస్ అయ్యింది.

Asvins review: Vasanth Ravi is brilliant in this half-good horror thriller

Though the generic first hour of Tarun Teja’s directorial disappoints, latter half offers viewers a terrific exploration of duality

Arjun, Ritu, Grace, Varun and Rahul are a group of YouTubers, who, as part of a black tourism project, seek to explore a largely dreaded, haunted mansion in the UK. The mansion, formerly owned by an archaeologist Aarthi Rajagopal, has been abandoned for many years. Will the bunch come out unscathed after their dangerous pursuit?

Asvins is a two-hour horror thriller born out of a barely 10-minute long short film helmed by Tarun Teja during the first lockdown three years ago. Named after the revered deities who find a mention in the Rig Veda, the film, while exploring duality, forges a unique blend between mythology and horror. However, to score brownie points from horror enthusiasts and widen its commercial appeal, the director undermines the potential of his strikingly original premise.

The narrative structure of Asvins is fairly conventional - the protagonists are headed to a desolate, haunted mansion in the UK, unaware of what fate has in store for them. Post intermission, the film takes us through the backstory of the mansion, explores the motive behind the evil forces and focuses on the protagonist’s efforts to overcome them.

The foremost challenge of a mainstream film storyteller is to preserve his core idea while keeping the exterior relatable - it’s a sacrifice one has to make to widen the reach of his product. The basic intent of Tarun Teja, with the first hour, is to explain how his pivotal characters are trapped in the mansion across various levels - physically, psychologically and how there’s no hope in sight.

It’s the (slightly indulgent) sound design and the innovative, partly raw cinematography that capture your attention initially. From the biblical motifs to the visual elaboration of the protagonists ‘being in deep waters’ through the path leading to the mansion, you sense the storyteller’s enthusiasm to lend a distinct personality to his ambience.

Even amidst the director’s eye for detailing on the technical front, the storytelling leaves a lot to be desired. Asvins stays true to the tropes of a horror film and struggles to break any new ground. Beyond the technical finesse, the first hour is the same-old wine - silences, eerie whispers, jump scares, the long-haired ghost with an evil laugh.

The repeated attempts to spook you don’t quite bear fruition. As an audio-visual experience, the film is ‘eventful’ but the narrative roams around in circles. However, once the basics are taken care of - you witness the director’s brilliance in full flow vis. post-intermission. Tarun Teja’s layered visualisation of duality and his portrayal of the protagonist’s psychological battles are jaw-dropping.

The director is successful in building a maze of a narrative where the protagonist finds it difficult to distinguish between reality and illusion. Within his limitations, he succeeds in transporting you to a basic, but well-crafted parallel universe. The intriguing detailing within a ‘good versus evil’ battle keeps you thoroughly invested. Asvins, even while dealing with abstract ideas, flourishes in moments where the focus is to stay true to the story and not please its target audience.

Vasanth Ravi’s supremely authoritative performance is deservedly complemented by the smart colour grading - with the use of greens, blues, and reds - and Vijay Siddharth’s chilling background score. The former singlehandedly spearheads the second hour - he never oversells the emotion, remains vulnerable and you root for him no matter what. Vimala Raman is aptly cast as the archaeologist in her brief yet impactful appearance.

Muralidaran, Saraswathi Menon, UdhayaDeep and Simran Pareek chip in with assured performances though their character arcs could’ve been fleshed out better. At times, the film tries too hard to impress with its soundscape- more like an enthusiastic kid with a bag of tricks. The open-ending is apt and helps the film stay in the mind of a viewer long after it’s over. The literal translation of the Tamil dialogues into Telugu is jarring in places.

Asvins is a tale of two contrasting halves. The uninspiring first hour is followed by a compelling half post-intermission, adorned by the technical finesse and a fabulous performance by Vasanth Ravi. The superb visualisation of its universe and its soundscape create a lasting impression. Though the film isn’t perfect by any means, it introduces audiences to a promising new-age storyteller - Tarun Teja.

Story:  An Indian vlogger Arjun (Vasanth Ravi) is doing vlogs in London. One day he with his team go to a haunted house After going to that house, their team realizes that some suspicious things are happening in that house. What’s so mysterious about that house? Who owns that house? What happened there? What is the role of Aarti Rajagopal (Vimala Raman) in this movie? If you want to know whether they have come out of that house or not, you have to watch this movie Asvins on silver screen.

 Performance:  Vasanth Ravi, who appeared in the main lead, gave a solid performance in his role. His role proceedings start slowly but towards the climax it feels next level. Vimala Raman played a good role even though the screen space was a little less. The remaining casts also justify their roles.

 Technical:  Although the story of Asvins is good, the narration is  difficult to understand. With this, the film does not connect to all sections of the audience at once. Also, there are interesting scenes in the movie but the narration continues to be dull at many places. VFX needs to be better in some places. Mainly, it should be done better in the climax. The production values are good. Mainly the technical team, sound and cinematography craft works are next level in this film. Editing and dialogues are good.

 Analysis:  Overall Asvins looks good up to some elements here and there. The film is impressive in terms of technical elements. The first thing that impresses  the movie lovers after watching Asvins is the sound design. This sound  design is very important for this type of horror or suspense thriller films but in this film this sound design in many key scenes gives the film a more thrilling experience. Along with this, the visuals in Asvins are also unique.

ఫస్ట్ చాప్టర్ లోనే ఇది మామూలు సినిమా కాదు అని తేలుతుంది. అయితే ఒక్కో చాప్టర్ గడిచే కొద్ది కథ ఎలాంటి మలుపులు తీసుకుంటుందో అర్థం కాకుండా పోతుంది. చూసిన సన్నివేశాలనే మళ్ళీ మళ్ళీ చూడాల్సి రావటం ప్రేక్షకులకు నరకంగా తోస్తుంది. ఓ విధంగా వారి సహనానికి అది పరీక్షే. ఈ సైకలాజికల్ హారర్ థ్రిల్లర్ లో హారర్ ఎలిమెంట్ కంటే డైరెక్టర్ పైశాచికత్వమే ఎక్కువ కనిపిస్తుంది. విమలా రామన్ తప్ప వేరే ఆర్టిస్ట్ లు ఎవరూ తెలిసిన వారు కాకపోవడం కూడా ఇబ్బంది కలిగించే అంశం. ఆర్టిస్ట్ ల ముఖాలమీద కెమెరా పెట్టి ఇష్టం వచ్చినట్లు నటించమని చెప్పినట్లనిపిస్తుంది. ఈ మూవీలో ఆకట్టుకునే అంశం ఏదైనా ఉందంటే అది సౌండ్ డిజైనింగ్ మాత్రమే. ఈ సౌండింగ్ కొత్తగా కూడా ఉంది. కొంత వరకూ కెమెరా వర్క్ కూడాబాగుంది. బీవీఎస్ఎన్ ప్రసాద్, వారి తనయుడు బాపినీడు ఈ సినిమాను రిలీజ్ చేస్తుండటంతో పాటు ‘విరూపాక్ష’ తర్వాత వారి సంస్థ లో వస్తున్న సినిమా కావటంతో బాగుంటుందేమో అని ఎక్స్ పెక్ట్ చేసి థియేటర్లకు వచ్చిన ఆడియన్స్ పూర్తిగా నిరాశకు గురవుతారు. ఈ సినిమా చూడటానికి కేటాయించే కొద్ది సమయమైనా దండగే.

Vasanth Ravi, despite being just three films old, has made it evident that he wants to be affiliated with intriguing scripts irrespective of the genre or the talents calling the shot behind the cameras. After the impressive Taramani and Rocky , he’s back with Asvins , a psychological horror film, and it makes sense as to why he went ahead with the film — it’s got a fascinating premise, immense scope to showcase one’s acting prowess, and is genuinely scary. But whether these attributes come well together to make a well-rounded horror flick is a different question altogether.

Asvins is the story of a bunch of friends who take up the project of shooting an abandoned mansion in the UK to promote it as a black tourism site — tourism involving places historically associated with death and tragedy. The mansion belonged to Aarthi Rajagopal (Vimala Raman), an archaeologist who specialised in religion and ritual, who was found dead along with 15 people she had killed. The moment the friends enter the premises, they awake the otherworldly inhabitant who inflicts horror on the gang. Interestingly, the evil force that tortures these poor souls has an Indian connection and Arjun (Vasanth Ravi) has to “Dormammu, I’ve come to bargain” his way out and save his friends.

Asvins (Tamil)

Tamil horror films have almost always had religion and/or mythology at their core while Hollywood’s tried-and-tested tropes are haunted houses or cabins in the woods where a bunch of friends (a minimum of one romantic couple among them) split up to make it easier for the ghost to take them out one after the other. Asvins takes both these ideas and blends them into one. It adopts both desi-rooted fables, religious rituals and containing the evil spirits from disturbing the ones alive, as well as Western satanic customs and symbols to scare the audience. And scare it does!

A hefty portion of Asvins is shot in found footage/POV style and along with dim lighting, eerie sounds and sudden camera moves, the film lends itself well to some brilliant jump scares. For fans of old-school horror and those who frighteningly relish watching it through the gap between their fingers, Asvins has a lot to offer as it’s undoubtedly one of the scariest films Tamil cinema has had in a long time. Only when the film tries to explain the reason behind the supernatural happenings does it falter.

Despite an interesting backstory involving the Hindu deities Ashwini Kumaras that the film narrates in its first chapter— the film is segmented into five chapters — by the time we get back to how it’s connected to the present-day happenings, we are already near the end of the film, causing the climax portion to be rushed. Just like the twist right before the intermission, the hurried unravelling of knots at the end doesn’t make the impression they’re supposed to create. While the concepts of astral planes, duality and dead people staying at an intermediate state aren’t elaborately explained to those who are new to it, those who’ve gotten used to those ideas (thanks to films like Us and the Insidious movies) would find them hardly fascinating. The fact that the film itself resembles classics like The Blair Witch Project doesn’t help much either.

The set-ups to the scares too feel rather too convenient. For instance, apart from the usual use of attics and basements as safehouses for ghosts, and the ‘lights aren’t working properly’ trope, the mansion is said to be far from civilisation and the only road that leads to it floods at night due to high tide, turning the estate into an island. For a story that majorly unfolds over just one night, scenes of brothers bonding, a wife planning on a surprise for her husband, and the team coming together to sponsor their youngest member’s education feel forced.

Aside from the scares, where the film shines is in its technical aspects. The lead cast’s performance is quite good and scenes involving their actions switching from fear and horror back and forth are compelling. After Iruttu , Vimala Raman once again scores in the horror genre despite her limited screen time. After a while, the film completely relies on Vasanth’s character and the actor pulls it off well. As was the case with Tarun Teja’s short film that Asvins is based on, sound designer Vijay Siddharth has done exceptionally in setting up the mood of the film. Despite a story that could’ve been more detailed and fleshed out, Asvins is a technically strong psychological horror film that does justice to its genre and that’s a win in the books of horror lovers.

the movie concept is excellent and technical cinematography is excellent, the focus is on creating jolt scares rather than story telling or plot building. A little more gripping search in the finale would have been nice. Having the team together through the plot would have given some better bounce dynamics, ended up being a mono acting psycho thriller in the end. <br/>Keep the audience thinking and guessing may have stretched a little beyond and into the realm of confusion to be later figured out. The narration to build up to climax ratio could have been better handled. <br/>Editing nightmare - Nightmare editing - technicians have done well<br/>Actors excelled with the help of strong director and visionary shot composition (shot composition is actually creepy) <br/>Story telling could have been made more obvious. Ending also wasn't clear as to what happened to the rest of the trapped people.

నార్నే నితిన్‌ హీరోగా తెరకెక్కిన ‘ఆయ్‌’ చిత్రం గురువారం విడుదలైంది. ఈ సినిమా ఎలా ఉందంటే?

స్వాతంత్ర్య దినోత్స‌వం సంద‌ర్భంగా బాక్సాఫీస్ ద‌గ్గ‌ర సంద‌డి నెల‌కొంది. ఈవారం నాలుగు సినిమాలు ప్రేక్ష‌కుల ముందుకొచ్చాయి. అందులో ప‌రిమిత వ్య‌యంతో, కొత్త‌త‌రం న‌టులు కీల‌క పాత్ర‌లు పోషించిన ‘ఆయ్‌’ ఒక‌టి. కొత్త ప్ర‌తిభ‌ని ప్రోత్స‌హిస్తూ సినిమాలు తీస్తున్న జీఏ2 సంస్థ ఈ సినిమాని నిర్మించ‌డం... క‌థానాయ‌కుడిగా ఎన్టీఆర్ బావ‌మ‌రిది నార్నే నితిన్ (narne nithiin) న‌టించ‌డంతో భారీ సినిమాల మ‌ధ్య కూడా ప్ర‌త్యేక‌మైన ప్ర‌చారంతో ఈ సినిమా ప్రేక్ష‌కుల దృష్టిని ఆక‌ర్షించింది. మ‌రి చిత్రం ఎలా ఉందో తెలుసుకుందాం..

Aay movie story  (క‌థేంటంటే):  కార్తీక్ (నార్నె నితిన్) అమ‌లాపురం కుర్రాడు. హైదరాబాద్‌లో సాఫ్ట్‌వేర్ ఉద్యోగంలో చేర‌తాడు. కరోనా లాక్‌డౌన్ వ‌ల్ల  ఊరికొస్తాడు. వర్క్ ఫ్రమ్ హోం చేసుకుంటూనే, చిన్న‌నాటి స్నేహితులైన హరి(అంకిత్ కోయ), సుబ్బు(రాజ్ కుమార్ కసిరెడ్డి)తో క‌లిసి సరదాగా గడుపుతుంటాడు. పక్క ఊరికి చెందిన పల్లవి (నయన్ సారిక)ని చూసి తొలిచూపులోనే ఇష్టపడతాడు. సోషల్ మీడియాలో చ‌లాకీగా ఉండే అమ్మాయి ప‌ల్ల‌వి. కులం ప‌ట్టింపులు ఎక్కువ‌. కార్తీక్ తన కులం వాడేననుకొని ఇష్టపడుతుంది. ఆ తర్వాత అత‌ని కులం వేర‌ని, ఆ విష‌యం తెలిస్తే తన తండ్రి(మైమ్ గోపి) చంపేస్తాడని దూరం పెడుతుంది. పెద్ద‌లు కుదిర్చిన పెళ్లికి అంగీకారం తెలుపుతుంది.  కులం కారణంగా పల్లవి తన ప్రేమను కాదనడంతో కార్తీక్ తట్టుకోలేకపోతాడు. మ‌రోవైపు పల్లవి, కార్తీక్‌లని క‌లిపేందుకు స్నేహితులైన  హరి, సుబ్బు  రకరకాల ప్రయత్నాలు చేస్తుంటారు. స్నేహితుల ప్ర‌య‌త్నం ఫ‌లించిందా? త‌న కొడుకు ప్రేమ విష‌యం తెలుసుకున్న కార్తీక్  తండ్రి  బూరయ్య (వినోద్ కుమార్‌)ఏం చేశాడు? పల్లవితో కార్తీక్  పెళ్లి జరిగిందా లేదా? అన్నది కథ.

Aay movie story analysis: (ఎలా ఉందంటే):  హాస్యం, స్నేహం ప్ర‌ధానంగా సాగే క‌థ ఇది. అమ‌లాపురం నేప‌థ్యం, చిన్న‌నాటి స్నేహితులు,  ప్రేమ అన‌గానే అచ్చ‌మైన తెలుగుద‌నమే గుర్తుకొస్తుంది. అందుకు త‌గ్గ‌ట్టే ఆ ప్రాంతానికి చెందిన మ‌నుషుల్లో క‌నిపించే అమాయ‌క‌త్వం, ప‌ట్టింపులు, ఆప్యాయ‌త‌లు, వెట‌కారం... ఇలా అన్నింటినీ మేళ‌విస్తూ క‌థ‌ని న‌డిపించాడు ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు. ముగ్గురు స్నేహితులు క‌లిసిన‌ప్ప‌ట్నుంచే సంద‌డి మొద‌ల‌వుతుంది.  (aay movie review) కార్తీక్‌, ప‌ల్ల‌వి ప్రేమ‌క‌థ మొద‌ల‌య్యాక,  ఆ ప్రేమ గురించి  స్నేహితుల‌కు తెలిశాక తెర‌పైన అల్ల‌రి మ‌రింత గిలిగింత‌లు పెడుతుంది. స్నేహితుడి ప్రేమ కోసం మిగ‌తా ఇద్ద‌రు చేసే సాయం, ఆ క్ర‌మంలో ఎదుర‌య్యే ఇబ్బందులు,  ఆ ప్రేమ‌ని పెళ్లిదాకా తీసుకొచ్చేందుకు పడే పాట్లు నవ్వులు పంచుతాయి. అలాగ‌ని ఆ అల్లరి, ప్రేమ‌క‌థ ఇదివ‌ర‌కు  తెర‌పై చూడ‌నిదేమీ కాదు కానీ,  ఈమ‌ధ్య కాలంలో ఈ త‌ర‌హా చిత్రం రాక‌పోవ‌డంతో ఆ స‌న్నివేశాల‌న్నీ తాజాగా అనిపిస్తాయి. సుఖాంతంగా సాగిపోతోంద‌నుకున్న ప్రేమ ప్ర‌యాణంలో మ‌లుపు నుంచే అస‌లు క‌థ  మొద‌ల‌వుతుంది.  

ద్వితీయార్ధంలో ప్రేమ‌లో సంఘ‌ర్ష‌ణ‌ని కొన‌సాగిస్తూ స‌న్నివేశాల్ని మ‌లిచాడు ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు. సాదాసీదాగానే ముగిసిపోతోంద‌నుకునే ద‌శ‌లో బ‌ల‌మైన ప‌తాక స‌న్నివేశాల్ని మ‌లిచి సినిమాని మ‌రోస్థాయికి తీసుకెళ్లాడు. వినోద్ కుమార్‌పై తీర్చిదిద్దిన స‌న్నివేశాలు సినిమాలో అప్ప‌టిదాకా క‌నిపించిన లొసుగులేవీ క‌నిపించ‌కుండా చేస్తుంది. ప్రేమకు కులం, మతం అడ్డురావనే కథాంశంతో ఎన్నో సినిమాలు వచ్చాయి. ఒక్కో దర్శకుడు ఒక్కో శైలిలో చెప్పే ప్రయత్నం చేశారు. (aay movie review) అదే కోవ‌లో దర్శకుడు అంజి కె.మ‌ణిపుత్ర కులం కంటే స్నేహం గొప్పదనే విషయాన్ని చెప్పే ప్ర‌య‌త్నం చేశాడు.  కులాలే చూస్తున్నారు త‌ప్ప‌,  మనిషికి మనిషి  సహాయం చేసుకోవడం లేదనే విషయాన్ని పల్లవి-కార్తీక్ ల ప్రేమకథతో ముడిపెట్టి  చెప్పే ప్రయత్నం చేశారు. ప‌తాక స‌న్నివేశాలే ఈ సినిమాకి ప్ర‌ధాన ఆక‌ర్ష‌ణ‌.  

aay movie star performance: ( ఎవరెలా చేశారంటే):  నార్నె నితిన్ న‌ట‌న ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటుంది. త‌న మొదటి సినిమా కంటే ఇందులో నటనకు అవకాశం దొరికింది. ఇక పల్లవి పాత్రలో నటించిన నయన్ సారిక... తెలుగు తెరకు కొత్తేఅయినా....తన అందం, అభినయంతో చక్కగా కనిపించింది. అచ్చ‌మైన గోదావ‌రి అమ్మాయిగా తెర‌పై క‌నిపించింది.  కెమెరా ఫ్లాష్‌ సౌండ్‌ను కంటి రెప్పలను జోడించి చేసిన మ్యానరిజం, హెయిర్ స్టైల్ నయన్‌ను కుర్రకారుకు దగ్గర చేస్తుంది. రాజ్‌కుమార్  కసిరెడ్డి, అంకిత్ కొయ్య చేసిన కామెడీ సినిమాకి మ‌రింత హైలైట్‌. ముఖ్యంగా క‌సిరెడ్డి పాత్ర గుర్తుండిపోతుంది. (aay movie review) మైమ్ గోపి, వినోద్ కుమార్‌లు పాత్రల పరిధి మేరకు నటించారు.

తొలి సినిమానే అయినా దర్శకుడు అంజి కథనాన్ని మలిచిన విధానం బాగుంది. కథలో పెద్దగా మలుపులేమీ లేకపోయినా స‌న్నివేశాల‌తో ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్ని మెప్పించాడు. అమలాపురం పరిసరాలు, గ్రామీణ నేపథ్యాన్ని సమీర్ కళ్యాణి తన కెమెరాలో బంధించిన తీరు, చాలా చోట్ల సన్నివేశాలు వర్షంలోనే సాగ‌డం సినిమాకి మ‌రింత కొత్త‌ద‌నం వ‌చ్చిన‌ట్టైంది.  సంగీతం విషయానికొస్తే పాటలు సినిమాకి  ప్రాణం పోశాయి. రామ్ మిర్యాల అందించిన సోఫియానా పాట వినసొంపుగా ఉండగా రంగనాయికి, డైవర్షన్ బ్యూటీ పాటలు థియేటర్ లో మాస్‌ని ఊపేస్తాయి. అజ‌య్ నేప‌థ్య సంగీతం సినిమాకి మ‌రో బ‌లం.  నిర్మాణంలో నాణ్య‌త  క‌నిపిస్తుంది. (aay movie review) ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు అంజి కె.మ‌ణిపుత్ర గోదావ‌రి నేప‌థ్యాన్ని మ‌రోసారి గుర్తు చేస్తూ స్నేహితుల క‌థ‌ని చెప్పాడు. కథ, క‌థ‌నాలు చాలా వ‌ర‌కూ సాధార‌ణంగా అనిపించినా... మాట‌లు,  ప‌తాక స‌న్నివేశాల్లో మెరుపుల్ని జోడించి ప్రేక్ష‌కుల‌కు స్వ‌చ్ఛ‌మైన వినోదం పంచారు.
