Essay on Mobile Phones: 400 Words

When telephone was first introduced in the world in the 1950s, people were keenly interested in it. As an easier way of communication, telephone has its own merit. Of late, the introduction of mobiles makes an easy access to communication. It is in fact inevitable in the present day of hurry and business. People have warmly accepted mobiles as the blessing of science. There is little doubt that without the use of mobiles none is nowadays able to lead one’s life quite normally. One is capable of communicating with people, staying far away very quickly. Thus many a problem can be well- solved by way of using these mobiles.

But everything has its merit and demerit. As science is a bane as well as a boon, mobiles are to some extent to be cursed. People, especially the young generation, have been abusing mobiles. They not only chat in an unexpected way but also indulge themselves in leading immoral life by abusing mobiles. Apart from this, several mercenary companies exploit the advantage of mobiles to meet their selfish ends. They do business through mobiles. As a result, young people have been misguided. To use mobiles is for them to be up to date. They avail themselves of the opportunity of the internet connection in their mobiles and do whatever they like to do. Obscene video clippings and some other versions of immoral entertainment are now available in mobiles. Therefore, the students have now tremendous fascination for the mobiles. Consequently, instead of studying, concentrate on using mobiles for sheer fun.

Another demerit is that because of the excessive use of the mobiles different companies plunge themselves into doing profitable business. Consequently, numerous towers have been erected for the network of mobiles. It is well known that a particular wave which is responsible for the mobile network does harm to the ecological balance of the environment. It is evident in the pale colors of the trees and fruits adjacent to the mobile towers.

Thus, it is the time to be conscious of the abuse of the mobiles. The concerned authority should take immediate steps to stop immoral business which is proliferating in abusing mobiles. All should remember that the sole purpose of mobile is to communicate. Entertainment may be available in the network of mobiles. But there should be no immoral design. Above all, the government should restrict the use of mobiles, so much so that anti-social activities may not be done through mobiles.

Mobile phones have become a key part of our lives, but like many things, they come with both good and bad sides. These devices help us stay connected with friends and family, offer endless information at our fingertips, and make daily tasks more convenient. However, they can also lead to problems if not used wisely. From distracting us from important work to affecting our health, the impact of mobile phones is vast and varied. As we dive deeper into this topic, let’s explore how mobile phones can be both a helpful tool and a potential source of issues. Understanding these aspects will help us make better decisions about how we use our phones.

Paragraph on Uses and Abuses of Mobile Phone

Table of Contents

Uses and Abuses of Mobile Phone Paragraph in 100 words

Mobile phones have become essential tools for learning, enabling access to educational apps and resources. They allow students to research, practice skills with interactive tasks, and attend online classes. However, misuse of mobile phones can lead to distractions, such as excessive gaming or social media use, affecting study time and focus. Overuse can also cause health issues like eye strain and disrupted sleep patterns. It’s important for students to balance their mobile phone use, dedicating time to both academic activities and breaks, to ensure it remains a helpful resource rather than a source of distraction.

Uses and Abuses of Mobile Phone Paragraph in 150 words

Mobile phones serve as portable gateways to knowledge, providing students with instant access to a wealth of information and educational tools. They are instrumental in facilitating online learning, enabling communication with teachers, and sharing study materials among peers. Educational apps can make learning interactive and fun, catering to various subjects and skills.

However, the temptation to engage in non-academic activities like playing video games, browsing social media, or watching videos can lead to procrastination and a decrease in academic performance. Furthermore, prolonged screen time without breaks can contribute to physical discomfort, including eye strain and poor posture. Responsible use, involving setting limits and taking regular breaks, is crucial. Students should be encouraged to use mobile phones as an aid for their studies while remaining mindful of the potential for misuse, ensuring a healthy balance between technology use and other aspects of their lives.

Uses and Abuses of Mobile Phone Paragraph in 200 words

In the realm of education, mobile phones have emerged as invaluable tools, enhancing the learning experience by offering access to e-books, online tutorials, and educational applications that cover a broad spectrum of subjects. They facilitate virtual classrooms, allowing for seamless interaction between teachers and students, and the exchange of resources and feedback in real-time. Moreover, mobile technology supports collaborative learning, as students can work on projects, share ideas, and solve problems together, regardless of physical distances.

Despite these advantages, the misuse of mobile phones poses significant challenges. Excessive indulgence in entertainment apps, social media, and online gaming can divert attention from academic pursuits, leading to poor time management and reduced academic outcomes. Additionally, the constant exposure to screens can lead to health issues, such as eye strain, headaches, and sleep disturbances. The key to maximizing the benefits of mobile phones in an academic context lies in disciplined usage.

It is imperative for students to cultivate self-regulation, allocating specific times for study and leisure, ensuring mobile phones are tools for educational enhancement rather than distractions. Emphasizing the responsible use of technology within educational settings can help mitigate its negative impacts, promoting a balanced and productive learning environment.

Uses and Abuses of Mobile Phone Paragraph in 250 words

Mobile phones have transformed our lives in many ways, particularly in the field of education. They serve as a gateway to unlimited information and learning resources. Students can easily access educational apps, e-books, online tutorials, and much more, making learning more interactive and fun. These tools not only provide a wealth of knowledge but also help in developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Additionally, mobile phones facilitate efficient communication between teachers and students, allowing for instant feedback and support.

However, the misuse of mobile phones can lead to several issues. Excessive screen time can harm students’ physical health, causing eye strain, poor posture, and even sleep disturbances. It can also distract them from their studies, with social media and games taking up time that could be used for learning. Furthermore, the anonymity and accessibility of the internet can expose students to harmful content and cyberbullying, which can have severe psychological effects.

Therefore, it is crucial to maintain a balance. Proper guidance and regulations regarding mobile phone usage can help mitigate its negative impacts. Encouraging responsible use and setting specific times for academic activities can harness the educational benefits of mobile phones while minimizing their drawbacks.

Uses and Abuses of Mobile Phone Paragraph in 300 words

The advent of mobile phones has revolutionized the way education is imparted and received. With just a few clicks, students have the world of knowledge at their fingertips. Mobile phones offer numerous educational apps, online libraries, and platforms for virtual classrooms, making education more accessible and inclusive. These technologies cater to various learning styles and needs, enabling personalized learning experiences. Furthermore, mobile phones enhance collaborative learning through group chats and online project tools, fostering teamwork and communication skills among students.

However, the overuse and dependency on mobile phones can have adverse effects. It can lead to addiction, where students find it hard to concentrate on their studies without checking their phones frequently. This addiction can significantly reduce their academic performance and limit their social interactions, leading to isolation. The easy access to the internet also poses risks of misinformation and exposure to inappropriate content, which can mislead and harm young minds. Moreover, the misuse of mobile phones for cheating during exams undermines the integrity of the educational process.

To counter these challenges, it’s imperative to instill digital literacy and ethics in students from an early age. Schools and parents should play an active role in monitoring and guiding mobile phone use. Setting clear rules for when and how mobile phones can be used for educational purposes, encouraging breaks from screen time, and promoting physical activities and face-to-face interactions can help balance the benefits and drawbacks of mobile phone use in education.

By fostering a responsible approach to mobile phone usage, we can leverage its advantages to enhance learning while protecting students from its potential abuses. This balance is key to ensuring that mobile phones remain valuable tools in our educational toolkit rather than distractions or hazards.

College Dorm Checklist! Must-Have Things to Take with You

How to reduce screen time in the era of tiktoks, and be a productive student, cell phones: a necessity or a convenience essay sample, example.

Nayeli Ellen

Good morning. What I would like to talk about today are cell phones and their role in our lives. Before I start off, I would like to ask everyone to turn their phones off—not just on a silent mode, but completely off—for the duration of my speech. It won’t take more than 10 minutes, so please, kindly do me a favor. It will mean a lot to me to have all of your attention.

Ever since the first hand-held mobile phone was presented by Motorola in 1973, this handy gadget has firmly set itself in the hands of almost every American teenager, adult, and since recently, even children. It seems that in the race for the latest model of the iPhone or BlackBerry , we have forgotten that telephones were initially intended as a convenience, not a necessity. However, it seems that there isn’t a single activity people can do without this technology nowadays. You need your Android program to calculate calories while jogging; you can’t live without the latest tunes uploaded to your iPhone; and you got used to taking pictures everywhere you go with your many-mega-pixel phone camera. How often do we actually use phones for talking these days? And we are not talking about the latest applications you have purchased to upgrade your favorite time-killer, but rather using your phone for the purpose it had been initially intended for: mobile conversations, assuming you cannot talk to the person on the other end of the signal face-to-face.

One of the recent studies held by the Swiss Institute of Public Health has revealed the appearance of a new type of disease called Nomophobia (“No mobile phobia”). Disturbing signs of nomophobia include a pathological fear of finding oneself without a working cell phone at hand, which causes sleeping disorders (the diseased patients complained that they experience constant anxiety and often wake up at night because they seem to have heard their phone ring); fear of losing your cell phone or forgetting it somewhere (it causes people to return home if they cannot find the phone in the bag, no matter how late they will be for important appointments; or constantly checking for their phone and taking it out of the bag even if it isn’t ringing). Apparently, there are thousands of people already diagnosed with the disorder and presumably millions more who are also suffering from it, without realizing the fact. Scientists estimate that two thirds of the world’s population is in fact prone to this psychological disorder.

As a result, people make their lives dependent on a device, without realizing that it is an appliance that had been initially invented to make their lives simpler, not more complicated. As neurologists have commented, cell phone addiction is forcing people to become dependent on their pricey new gadget and this distracts the victims of cell phones from living their life in working order. Instead of going out and meeting people we want to talk to, we send text messages, install Skype and social network applications on our brand new phones, and basically build our lives around this technology. If one day all phones should instantly go off, there would no doubt be panic and chaos all over the world, except for those remote places where this technological advance has not yet gained that much popularity. Nevertheless, while there are fewer and fewer such places in the world, people are getting more and more dependent on their cell phones—approximately 40 percent of all cell phone users have more than one mobile phone in use. The situation is worsening every year, while electronic giants like Apple, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Verizon, and others are launching new brilliant marketing campaigns trying to persuade us to purchase their latest telephone model that can become your life partner in any occupation and situation. Except that, at some point, you might find yourself controlled by the device and desperately scared to take a step without it.

What should be done now? I suggest reducing the time we spend with our favorite cell phones at least by half, for starters. Every time you think about downloading a new application, ask yourself whether it is a necessity or you can easily do without it. Every time you catch yourself thinking you want the latest iPhone model, ask yourself what you need it for? If you do not know the answer, it means you don’t really need it, until the commercials and iconic pop stars tell you otherwise. Respect yourselves and value your time. When you think of how many hours per day you spend with your phones, and what you could have done instead in the real world, these time-eaters will seem like a malady. But, they are just a device, a convenience we need to control our use of, in order not to let this appliance control us, our schedules, our leisure, our hobbies, and our entire lives.

I hope my speech gave you all some food for thought, and planted a seed of suspicion about whether our cell phones are truly that important and indispensable to us. Thank you for the time you have dedicated to my speech with your cell phones off! I know it was tough for some of you, and I appreciate the effort.

Essay on Mobile Phone Boon or Bane – 400 Words

Mobile phones are a boon as they are used for a number of useful purposes. Nevertheless, there is also no denying the fact that a gadget as useful as a mobile phone could sometime be annoying and irritating.

Boon or Bane

Of course mobile phones are a boon given to the number of useful purposes they are used for like – internet, voice or video chat, documentation etc. Despite from the usual there are other uses like – social media and remain updated about the developments. Today every mobile phone user has a social media account, which he manages from his mobile phone. It helps him/her to remain connected to family and friends as well as other dignitaries like politicians, actors, cricketers etc.

But despite all the advantages, mobile phones could sometimes be annoying too. The use of mobile phones for various purposes and the accessibility of internet have compromised the privacy of the user. Also, every form that we fill today has a mandatory column asking to provide the phone number. Today the number of a common mobile phone user is available with many marketing agencies whose main aim is to sell their product. This loop hole in privacy has led to unwanted and unexpected marketing calls. People get annoying calls from insurance agents, marketing executives, etc, trying to sell their products to the mobile phone user, who is not at all interested.

Next in line is social media. Social media is a place where people share their views, pictures etc with those who are connected. However, this has also compromised the privacy to a certain level as someone undesirable could also peek into your account and send annoying messages; trailing you regularly. Such unwanted social buffs could be really annoying and some people are known to be trailed so regularly using inappropriate and indecent comments that they had to totally shut down their social media account.

In the end it would be more appropriate to say that mobile phones are both a boon and a bane. They are a boon when used appropriately and within limits but could be bane when they are used with mala fide intentions. Even a useful gadget as a mobile phone could be well annoying when it is used with the bad intention of deceiving someone, trailing him/her inappropriately on social media and other accounts.

Cell Phones in School: Should Be Banned, Restricted or Allowed?

Why Cell Phones in School Should Be Banned?

The use of mobile phones in schools has attracted the attention of many individuals, state organizations, learning institutions, the media and the society at large. Different views have been raised on the positive impacts and the negative repercussion that come as a result of the use of mobile phones in schools. Although some positive aspects can be drawn from the use of mobile phones in schools, the negative impacts are saddening and the need to be looked at with great caution. Poor school performance of children and cheating in exams can be attributed to the use of mobile phones in schools.

School children with mobile phones tend to have a short span of attention in class due to various activities, as surfing the internet, playing games and texting. These children are also likely to cheat in exams by searching for answers through the internet or texting their colleagues for answers. Likewise, cases of mobile phone theft increase due to the urge of getting better phones to those who already have and the desire of having a phone to the poor children who cannot afford it. These should thus give an alarm to the school board to ban the use of mobile phones.

One of the major reasons why the use of mobile phones by school children should be banned is because it promotes cheating during exams. The mobile phones may provide good avenues for the children to cheat in exams and thus earn undeserved credits. Children use the taken pictures of class notes, videos, text messaging as well as wireless earbuds to gain access to materials that assist them during the exams. According to the National School Resource Officer Survey in 2004 by NASRO, it was estimated that more than 41 percent had reported handling cases of students using mobile phones improperly. The officers reported that among the improper ways school children had used mobile phones included cheating in exams, particularly through text messaging and the internet.

Free Persuasive Essay Examples from Elite Essay Writers

Another reason why the school board should ban the use of mobile phones is due to the short span of attention by the children. Student’s concentration in class is distracted on various occasions in the presence of mobile phones. In certain instances, the disturbance can be carried on to the rest of the children in class if the phone rings out loud. This is more likely to happen and cause a lot of distraction, hampering the learning process if these phones are not put in silent mode. Moreover, if a phone is put in silent mode or on vibration, it distracts the owner leading to a short attention span in class. If a call or message, for instance, comes in, the student loses concentration and diverts their attention towards reading the message or answering the call. These lower the student’s understanding of things taught in class and in turn results in poor performance.

It is essential for the school board to note that the use of mobile phones by children promotes theft. The changing technology results in the production of more attractive and expensive mobile phones that not every child can afford. Theft complaints are thus not going to stop anytime soon if the use of mobile phones in schools will not be banned. Despite the fact that some of the children already own mobile phones, they will be tempted to steal the more sophisticated ones from their friends. The poor children who cannot afford a cell phone are no exemption and they are most likely to steal any type of phone for them to own one. It is best if schools ban their use to prevent such cases of theft.

It is thus justifiable to conclude that the school board has a big part to play in making the learning environment suitable for all the children. The ban on the use of mobile phones will be very beneficial to all and would lead to better performance. The children’s concentration span in class would improve, cheating in exams would be minimized and cases of mobile phone theft in schools would be forgotten. If the school board embraces the idea of making it illegal to use mobile phones, the society will benefit and the school children will all have a favorable environment to learn.

Why Cell Phones in School Should Be Restricted?

People create different devices and machines due to the constant growth of human needs and demands. It is connected with the appropriate improvement in the quality of life. In fact, the creation of such a modern device as a cell phone refers to great wonders of the twenty-first century, even if its use at school is under great concern. Thus, the development of the cell phone and its regular use can improve the process of studying at school, but it can also destruct the way students thinking and learning.

The cell phone makes a revolution in education. It widens children’s outlook and suggests new ways and approaches for learning more information in different subjects through video use. It becomes evident that “allowing students to use cell phones in the classroom for specific, academic purposes has the power to increase student engagement and allow teachers to more effectively assess learning on a daily basis” (Giambalvo).

It means that the particular use of this device contributes to the development of creativity and interactive experience. Students can get free access to a large number of sources which can be essential in studying. In this case, juniors are motivated to set their goals and reach them observing different videos based on the learning topics. Additionally, this issue includes social and emotional aspects that show how an individual can assess himself/herself to reveal the appropriate persistence and diligence. Thus, modern teachers consider cell phones as a useful tool for learning, which makes studying easier and more interesting.

The cell phones provide new effective ways of learning for those who try to overcome the difficulties with the second language. In this case, it’s primary purpose is to improve the limits of students’ vocabulary. With the help of mobile dictionaries, students can memorize many new words including their translation and spelling. They also develop their vocabulary while writing a test after reading the assignment, which seems to be rather difficult (Lu 515). The point is that students do not have any limitation to learn more words every time they look up a new one and its various meanings. It is known that lexical information improves the intellect, and students’ speech becomes better. Therefore, the effectiveness of cell phone use is obvious, and it is necessary to further develop this approach.

On the other hand, cell phones cause cheating and unceasing ringing that destroys classroom policies at school. Many teachers claim that “the technology is considered a serious source of distraction in the classroom” because it has a negative impact on academic performance (Campbell 280). In such a way, plagiarism becomes a common problem that exists among students. After finishing high schools, they are not ready to develop and create their own ideas. Students have boundless access to the Internet, thus they simply copy and paste the suggested information. It brings harm to the students’ studying as they do not make any considerable effort to develop their own intellectual skills and abilities in the process of learning. Additionally, teachers often complain that they cannot concentrate on the representation of new material due to the ringing in the class.

Moreover, parents notice that their children stop paying much attention to the school assignments but talk over the phone all the time. Perhaps, it is a precise result of parents’ numerous requests to allow their children to use mobile phones at school as they are against the past ban (Taylor). Thus, the cell phone becomes children’s obsession as they gradually begin to depend on this advanced technology.

In conclusion, the use of the cell phone improves the quality of studying as teachers can apply various teaching videos. Students can also learn the second foreign language via the cell phone by consulting the dictionary and memorizing new words as well as establishing communication and interacting with each other. However, the use of cell phones has several disadvantages while studying: the main one is cheating. This leads to reducing students’ own knowledge because they are out of practice. Therefore, it is necessary to restrict the use of cell phones at school in order to avoid plagiarism which is not good for students studying.

Why Cell Phones in School Should Be Allowed?

In terms of using cell phones in school, various improvements have been established at different schools, which benefited students since their privacy has been improved as well as an effective and essential means of communication was implemented. Schools are trying out various policies that allow having cell phones at schools with some permitting students to use their phones only during breaks or at lunchtime. Other schools are encouraging students to have cell phones at school in order to enhance the educational process, the main purpose of which is to improve understanding in the classroom.

This is helpful in various ways since it provides suitable platforms for enhancing educational understanding. Other policies that were implemented allow students to carry cell phones to school and use them after classes and at breaks. The phones should be kept in lockers or backpacks during classes. This is unlike the policy of some schools that allow phones and encourage students to carry them to school and use them in class for their educational advantage.

Cell phones use in high school during break times should, therefore, be allowed because of personal rights, privacy issues, and effective and essential communication. The use of cell phones during breaks prevents students from losing attention in class and allows them to maintain necessary communications with their parents as well as provides them with the advantages of e-learning tools. Allowing students to use cell phones at school gives students the right to personal life and privacy. In addition, cell phones enhance research and improve students’ understanding since they have more access to information that is available on the Internet.

Essay, Paragraph, Speech on “Mobile Phone – A Boon or Bane” Complete English Essay for Class 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, Graduation classes.

Mobile Phone – A Boon or Bane

The mobile phone first appeared in India sometime in the nineties. It was a bulky box quite similar to the landlines we still use today. It had an equally big antenna  and was heavy and cumbersome to carry. That was just the beginning. Very soon they were all over the place. With the alarming speed at which they shrunk in size, these pocket sized wonders, sure packed a punch. The mobiles of today are gizmos that can do multiple functions. They can send text messages, they can send and receive video messages and they have a host of facilities that somehow snake the – talk on the move” function seem redundant. As is the case with every invention, with time the prices crashed and today these little things are available for as less as five hundred Indian rupees. In India almost every one, everywhere, seems to have one. The vegetable vendor, the bus conductor, students, the office goers, almost everybody irrespective of economic status has a cell phone. This little midget has taken the world by storm.

Thanks to the cell phone everybody is available almost all of the time. It’s a boon for people who do a lot of field work. It means the offices they work for can keep in touch with them. Also in cases of emergency, like you are stuck in a road jam or in some catastrophe, all you have to do is whip out your phone and call for help or call your family to put their minds at ease. You can text one message to several people at the same time. Through your cell you can go online and check your email. You can playgames on your cell phone to kill time, not the best of uses, but a use nonetheless. You can even listen to music on the cell, watch video clippings and if you are of the artistic bend and wish to click a spontaneous photograph, viola!! One click on the cell phone and you are done.

Everywhere you go, you are swarmed by people glued to their cell phones. It has reached the proportions where often one sees a young couple walking down the beach hand in hand; both their other hands holding on to their individual cells talking to other people. It means that people are talking a lot more than they used to for sure. It means that when you visit a friend for dinner most ofthe time everybody is busy on their individual cells. It also means that people drive recklessly-their one ear and one hand occupied by the cell. However, it is the total invasion of privacy which cell phones have caused which is scary. People are recording videos of other people without their knowledge and then selling them. Advertising through text messages has become such a nuisance that you have your cell phone beeping almost all the time. In case of an emergency, often, the network is jammed thanks to the indiscriminate use of cell phones. Several health risks have been projected by the misuse of the cell phone; one of them being the decreased count of sperm in men due to prolonged use. Kids have been caught storing answers on the cell phone to use during examinations.

What use is technology if it makes us restless, impatient and deprives us of the moments that really matter-a cup of hot tea had against the backdrop of the pitter patter of the rain, a walk on the beach with a loved one. What use is it if it robs us of the joy of taking a walk down the beach listening to the sound of waves? With every technology, along with its uses come the misuses and it is the user’s responsibility to use technology with caution.

Introduction.

Mobile phones, once a luxury, have now become a necessity. They are seen as a boon or bane, depending on their usage.

Mobile phones are a boon as they enable quick communication. They are useful for education, providing access to vast resources online.

Bane Aspects

However, they can be a bane when they become addictive. Excessive use can lead to health issues and hinder social interactions.

In conclusion, whether mobile phones are a boon or bane depends on how we use them. Responsible use ensures they remain a boon.

250 Words Essay on Mobile Phone Boon or Bane

The ubiquity of mobile phones, mobile phones: a boon.

Mobile phones have made communication seamless and instantaneous. They provide us with access to vast amounts of information and services at our fingertips. From booking tickets to monitoring health, mobile phones have transformed every aspect of our lives. They are also instrumental in bridging the digital divide, empowering individuals in remote areas with access to the internet and digital services.

Mobile Phones: A Bane

On the flip side, the disadvantages of mobile phones cannot be overlooked. They have led to an increase in screen time, adversely affecting our physical and mental health. The constant need to stay connected has resulted in a lack of real-world social interactions, leading to feelings of isolation and loneliness. Furthermore, the misuse of mobile phones for cybercrime, online bullying, and invasion of privacy is a growing concern.

Striking a Balance

In conclusion, it is clear that mobile phones have both positive and negative impacts. The key lies in using this powerful tool judiciously. As responsible users, we need to strike a balance between leveraging the benefits of mobile phones and mitigating their potential harms. This will ensure that we harness the potential of this technology while minimizing its adverse effects.

500 Words Essay on Mobile Phone Boon or Bane

Mobile phones, since their inception, have dramatically transformed the way we live, work, and communicate. The question of whether they are a boon or a bane is complex, with both perspectives having compelling arguments.

Mobile phones have undeniably brought numerous advantages. They have revolutionized communication, making it instantaneous and borderless. Today, we can connect with anyone, anywhere, at any time. This has not only made our personal lives more convenient but also has had profound implications for business, healthcare, and education.

Moreover, mobile phones have become essential tools in the business world. They allow for remote working, instant communication with colleagues and clients, and quick access to necessary information. In the healthcare sector, mobile phones enable telemedicine, allowing patients to consult with doctors without having to travel.

However, the ubiquity of mobile phones also has its downsides. The most prominent concern is the impact on mental and physical health. Excessive screen time can lead to a sedentary lifestyle, resulting in obesity and associated health issues. Additionally, the constant connectivity can lead to stress and anxiety, with studies showing a correlation between high mobile phone use and poor mental health.

Furthermore, the omnipresence of mobile phones has led to concerns about reduced face-to-face interaction and its impact on social skills. The irony of the ‘connected’ world is that while we may be more connected virtually, we may also be becoming more disconnected in reality.

In conclusion, mobile phones are both a boon and a bane. They have undeniably brought significant benefits, revolutionizing communication, and providing unprecedented access to information. However, they also come with significant drawbacks, including potential health issues, privacy concerns, and impacts on social interaction.

Argumentative Essay on the Use of Mobile Phones in Schools

Here you have an argumentative essay on the use of mobile phones in schools with Pdf. You can Download it free from here, and take advantage of many more essays examples.

Introduction

There are both positive and negative effects of cell phones on today’s generation. In my opinion, there are good reasons why students allow cell phones to be used in schools.

Parents can communicate directly with their children in emergencies. During break time, when there is no continuous classroom, children can easily talk to their parents and get the information they need from them. Besides, if students suddenly decide to participate in an after-school program, they may be able to quickly inform their parents about the use of their cell phones.

The endless technological advances these days have made cell phone use more common. First, computers and then cell phones significantly impact people’s lives. Therefore, we all need to educate our students and inform them of the benefits and benefits of using cell phones.

In my opinion, students have the right to bring their cell phones to school until the classroom is not disrupted. If they do, teachers may punish him. Sometimes, school phones do not work well and have very little value. If by the time most students need a phone, how will they be able to contact their parents? That’s why I think; students must be allowed to bring cell phones to school.

There may be situations where students plan to meet alone in other areas. If so, they will not be able to contact you by phone at school. With their cell phones, they can easily communicate with others. They could even use their cell phones as a counter flashlight at school.

Mobile phones help to increase mobility and flexibility between students and their parents. Students can use a cell phone for a Caffe, a library, a toilet, and anything else if that does not affect anyone else. If students need their parents to bring them something important to the school, cell phones will help students.

Allowing mobile phones in school does not mean that students have the opportunity to use mobile phones in any way. They should not spend time playing games on mobile phones at school. As a result, the school may introduce new rules such as whether students will need to put their cell phones in front of them or hand out their cell phones to teachers. If the phone rings or students need to call someone, teachers will give them phones.

Many schools in India do not have computers. Therefore, cell phones that are very useful for students can be used to learn a few things that should be taught on a computer. If a person forgets to bring his notebook, he can quickly take notes on his mobile phone.

There are also the adverse effects of cell phones, such as private games, obscene viewing of the toilet, etc. But school authorities must take action and make new rules for these things. Parents of learners should be kept informed of everything they do at school on their mobile phones. If these things are not done, mobile phones should be allowed to be used in school by students.

Speech About Impact of Mobile Phone use on Students

Today, mobile phones have become an integral part of our lives, so essential and taken for granted that it is hard to imagine our lives without them. Everyone it seems, including children of every age and status, owns a mobile phone nowadays.

Phones allow students to stay in touch with teachers and their classmates regularly. In case of any problems, educational or social, they can quickly get the help of friends or teachers. They don’t have to wait till morning like the generation before. This instant communication is especially useful during exam times. Often, teachers use WhatsApp groups providing additional help to students who need it. Phones offering this ease of communication boost their interest in studies and helps them score better marks.

Speech on mobile phone impacts on students

Mobile phones also help students to access the internet anytime, anywhere. So, if they are eager to know something or have any doubts, they can look it up on the internet. The immense availability of study materials and help groups enables students to perform better. The research data on the internet helps them in finishing their assignments on time. It gives students insight into the subject matter. Thus, they not only score better, but they also understand things better. And that comes in handy in out of the classroom, real-life as well.

The Internet provides wide opportunities for students to work at their own ease, earn enough to pay for their studies or living. It makes them independent and responsible. Online tutors and other activities often help them revise their subject base as well, helping them indirectly in their studies.

However, there is another side to everything. Mobile phones aren’t always a good thing. Students of junior schools can hardly have any knowledge of what is good for them. It is easy for them to get addicted to mobile phones and some do get addicted. This not only impacts their physical health but mental health as well. Research shows that kids who spend more time on mobile phones lack in IQ and social skills.

Playing violent games on mobile phones can make them violent as well. They can spend more time in the virtual world than in the real world. It can affect their studies as well if they are continuously using their phone to play games.

Often it is seen that students carry their phones to the classes. This distracts them during their lectures if the teacher does not lay down a law of no phone use. In the middle of the lecture, they can chat, listen to songs, watch videos, etc. These things make them miss what the lecturer is teaching and that, in turn, leads them to score low scores.

Research also says that heavy mobile phone use can damage the eyes of the students. A new study says that smartphones may ruin your eyesight. Researchers at the University of Toledo, in Ohio, have found that exposure to blue light, the light emitted from most smartphones and laptops, promotes the growth of “poisonous molecules” in your eyes, leading to macular degeneration. So overdoing staring at a phone is not a good thing for students.

Overuse of phones also impacts on their concentration. It is proven that students who use a lot of mobile phones and the internet find it hard to concentrate on any work for a longer period of time. This makes them slow in finishing work.

Everything comes with a list of pros and cons. Mobile phones are no exception. Students should use them but with some caution. Overall, mobile phones for students are part of the overwhelming march of progress and benefits them positively in studies and in life.

With our phones, we may use the internet to discover new things as well. With their maps, they make it easy for us to locate our route, and we can even snap photos with them.

However, there are also some drawbacks. Overuse of phones by some individuals can be problematic. It might cause eye pain or even make it difficult to fall asleep. Furthermore, excessive phone use might cause us to lose focus when driving or walking, which is risky.

Thus, we must use our phones responsibly. It’s important to remember to take pauses and not use them excessively. Similar to consuming candy, moderation is key when it comes to this. Utilizing our phones sensibly may make them enjoyable and beneficial. However, we must exercise caution so as not to allow them to cause us issues.

With so many benefits, mobile phones have become an essential part of our life. They facilitate communication and let us stay in touch with loved ones no matter where we are or when we want. Additionally, mobile phones offer instant access to information, which keeps us up to date on global events. They are also useful for navigation, taking pictures to save memories, and even handling our money using mobile banking.

But there are also some disadvantages to these advantages. Overuse of a phone can become addictive, diverting our attention and decreasing our productivity. Extended periods of screen usage can lead to health problems like strained eyes and disturbed sleep cycles. Other drawbacks include privacy issues and the possibility of cyberbullying, which emphasise how crucial it is to use mobile phones properly.

In conclusion, even while mobile phones are incredibly beneficial for communication, information access, and convenience, it is important to consider the possible risks they may pose to one’s health, privacy, and general well-being. Maintaining a balance in the use of mobile phones is crucial to maximise their benefits while minimising their drawbacks.

Should mobile phones be banned in schools? Readers weigh in

In light of new guidance giving head teachers the authority to ban mobile phones in schools, we asked YOU for your thoughts on an issue which isn't going away.

Are we heading closer to a complete ban on mobile phones in our schools?

A lot has been said since the Scottish Government announced new guidance giving head teachers the authority to ban devices in schools.

Under the guidance , announced last week, pupils could be required to hand over their phones before classes as part of efforts to crack down on disruptions such as distracting notifications or filming instances of bullying.

The development comes hot on the heels of the UK government being urged by MPs to consider a statutory ban on mobile phone use in schools in England, as well as a total ban on smartphones for under-16s, as part of a crackdown on children’s screentime.

There is a sense that parents are starting to catch up with the technology, and are now mobilising to safeguard the next generation from the harms of smartphone use.

Peterhead Academy the first to stick its neck out on school phone ban

In the north-east, Peterhead Academy was the first to put its head above the parapet, banning new S1 pupils from carrying mobile phones when they started at the school this week.

And the head teacher at Speyside High School in Moray, Patricia Goodbrand, told The P&J in June that she would support looking into a ban , amid “changes” in pupil behaviour.

But what do parents in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Moray and the Highlands think?

We asked you, and nearly 200 of you responded on social media.

The majority of you welcomed the news that head teachers can now take a harder line on mobile phones in the classroom.

There were scores of comments like “Brilliant”, “Fantastic”, “The best thing they could do”, “100% on board”, and “About time”.

And many of you called for a blanket ban on mobile phones in schools.

‘Kids having phones is ruining a generation’

“Get it done,” said Keith Taylor. “Kids don’t need phones and they certainly don’t need them at school.”

Colin Burnett waded in: “Ban them from school – they’re there to learn, not to be on their phones.”

Lucy White said: “The fact that it’s even up for discussion is absurd.

“Kids having phones is ruining a generation, as well as bad parenting.

“Phones don’t belong in classrooms, they aren’t needed there and never have been.”

Valerie Craig said: “Why have we got to the stage where phones are in classrooms? They were never needed when we were young.”

And Allan Main added: “They shouldn’t even have one until they’re at least 16. Social media is the work of the devil, particularly for young, impressionable people.”

New guidance on mobile phones in schools a ‘cop-out by Scottish Government’

A number of you accused the Scottish Government of shirking responsibility by leaving the decision up to individual head teachers.

Hazel McPherson said: “This is a cop-out by the Scottish Government, making head teachers the fall guys.

“If politicians think banning phones in schools is a good idea then it should be national policy.

“Stop passing the buck and do what you are well paid to do: govern.”

And Joanne Dolling agreed: “It shouldn’t be left to head teachers to decide. If the government feel strongly, they should make it policy across the board.”

Some of you have reservations over a complete ban

While supporting a ban on phones in the classroom, some of you had reservations about a complete ban in schools.

Mandy Urquhart said: “I absolutely agree phones should be banned in class, it reduces distraction and the risk of bullying . But I think you’d struggle to ban them completely in schools.

“It would be a logistical nightmare and isn’t a job for teaching staff. If devices are needed for research etc., the school needs to provide that.”

Neil McIntosh said: “I don’t think they should be banned altogether as the world we live in relies on them, but they should be locked away or turned off. Mind you, policing that would be a nightmare.”

Madeleine Forret said: “We live in a rural area, it’s important my daughter takes her phone with her in case she misses the bus or has other problems travelling to and from school.

“It’s a grey area as phones are now used for many other important things – medical alerts, tracking your kids in rural areas – not just to talk and play games.”

Meanwhile Andrew Stout said: “Just tell them to switch their phones off in class. What’s next, are they going to search them? Treat them like young adults and they’ll respect their teachers.”

And some parents blame schools for forcing pupils to use phones

Tracy Leach pointed out schools’ culpability in making phones a part of school life.

“Teachers ask the kids to look something up on their phone, and the school office tells them to call home on their mobile when there’s an issue with transport.”

Jenny Herlingshaw added: “How will kids learn without them? Academy teachers make them use their phones to Google things, instead of actually teaching them.”

Others had mixed views, such as Tony Carter, who said: “Phones are now a part of normal life, and if used as a part of the education of children are a wonderful tool.

“However, I think we should lose them until society has caught up with the technology. We need book and written skills with critical thinking.

“Also, phones have different capabilities which divides pupils.”

‘I see no problem with kids having a phone at secondary school’

A sizeable minority were against banning mobile phones in the classroom.

Donna Lornie said: “My child is dyslexic and uses her phone quite often for spell-checking because she prefers to write rather than use a laptop.

“Phones are a major part of everyday life nowadays for everyone.”

Sheryl McNaught added: “If the phone is turned off during school, I see no problem with kids having a phone at secondary school. If my child is going to be late he texts me.”

Greg Mitchell said: “Bullied kids need their phone to text parents to pick them up so they can get home safely.

“Until our schools are run in a professional manner where you can’t go about assaulting people with little to no consequences, children will still need their phones.”

However, Christopher Bell pointed out that “you could argue bullying is more commonplace due to the effects of phones and the use of social media.”

Up to parents to tackle phone use, not schools

And finally, an interesting point from John McKinnon, who said it was parents’ responsibility to stop their kids using mobile phones, not schools.

Shona Leys agreed: “People forget that it’s not a job for teachers but the parent to take away their children’s phones before they go to school.

“A school is an educational establishment, not a babysitting service.”

Members of the Kennedy family denounce RFK Jr.'s decision to endorse Trump

Image: 2024 Democratic National Convention: Day 2 chicago dnc Jack Schlossberg political politics

WASHINGTON — Multiple members of the Kennedy family denounced Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s decision to endorse former President Donald Trump, calling the move a "betrayal."

"We want an America filled with hope and bound together by a shared vision of a brighter future, a future defined by individual freedom, economic promise and national pride," said a statement signed by five of the former independent presidential candidate's siblings.

"We believe in Harris and Walz," the statement continued. "Our brother Bobby's decision to endorse Trump today is a betrayal of the values that our father and our family hold most dear. It is a sad ending to a sad story."

The statement includes signatures from Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Courtney Kennedy, Kerry Kennedy, Chris Kennedy and Rory Kennedy.

Joe Kennedy III, a grandson of Robert F. Kennedy, reacted to the statement, sharing it on X and writing that it was "well said."

Separately, the former candidate's cousin Jack Schlossberg said that he has "never been less surprised in my life."

"Been saying it for over a year — RFKjr is for sale, works for Trump. Bedfellows and loving it," he posted to X. "Kamala Harris is for the people — the easiest decision of all time just got easier."

Schlossberg is the grandson of former President John F. Kennedy.

Many members of the Kennedy family have been publicly critical of the independent's presidential bid, instead vocalizing their support for first President Joe Biden and now Harris.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced on Friday that he would withdraw from the presidential race and back Trump. However, he said that he would only remove his name from the ballot in "about 10 battleground states where my presence would be a spoiler." He encouraged voters in states where he remains on the ballot to still support him.

"These are the principled causes that persuaded me to leave the Democratic Party and run as an independent, and now to throw my support to President Trump," he said during his Friday remarks. "The causes were: Free speech, the war in Ukraine, and the war on our children."

Harris campaign chair Jen O'Malley Dillon said in a statement that the Harris campaign is for "any American out there who is tired of Donald Trump and looking for a new way forward."

"Even if we do not agree on every issue, Kamala Harris knows there is more that unites us than divides us: respect for our rights, public safety, protecting our freedoms, and opportunity for all," she said in a bid to attract Kennedy supporters.
