Campus Life

Nims University does many events like concerts, dj nights as well as sports championship named as SPARDHA. They call many celebrities too and they provide club membership in which you can enjoy various activities like swimming basketball ,gym volleyball and many outdoor and indoor games. The best part of nims University is they have their site on which all students details and necessary stuffs are available and attendance is done on collpoll . They provide projector in classroom for betterment

The faculty ration is little low as compare to students sometimes we miss some classes because we don't have much faculty. Faculties of nims University are very supportive and they help us in every situation and they make us feel more comfortable that we can share our thoughts with them. We can easily contact our faculties because they are more like our parents and they solve all the queries of each students and they treat everyone equally.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

There is no such thing as scholarship and financial assistance there, they don't take test to provide such services, and it's very expensive you have to pay for all the functions and programs and course fees doesn't include the products you gonna need , if you'll add them all it's not worth it because you won't get the knowledge you are seeking for.

Campus is nice and good and fine arts ans interior design teachers were quite good but for fashion designing it's not worth it at all. And rest everything includes money, if you are willing to take admission there prepare your self for further expenses.

Some scholarships cover the tuition fees, while some also provide expenses for accommodation, for students in class 10. any student from a state government, the fee is better then another college, fee is too low only be awarded to exceptional students. annual income limit has been fixed at. Life at the campus is well-friendly in nature coming to the campus feels like the next home. Many extracurricular activities are done on a campus like a treasure hunt, games, celebrating festivals etc JSG Jodhpur social group is made for social purposes

My college , overwhelmed.

I chose to do fashion designing because I was interested in fabrics and colors. our faculty included 2 teachers only, 1 for practical and the other for theory. We were all over 25 students. The teachers had their unique methods of teachings through materials and props, our practical's were indeed fun sessions as it was mix-matching colors, playing with sketches, workshops, and and overall trying to bring out the artist in us. Exams were easygoing and every 6 months were to appear for them.

The annual fest was glorious for us. It had the best theme Mermaid for us. So we had to prepare outfits on the topic, decorations to lights were all purples and pinks. It was conducted in Feb right before we could appear for our finals. Books were easily available. Classrooms had every material required to make a student's life easy. There were no sports. Extracurricular activities were all fun workshops.

there is an annual get-together function in our college. and many more things we had done. we celebrate all festivals in college. there is a water filter in our college. no get industrial visits in textile industries and garment industries there is no social group of students.

the fee is affordable to all because the infrastructure and facilities are very good here. I don't think fees are getting minimized. there is no scholarship in our college but if we have any financial issues we get a concession in fees

Journey of my life

Because I want to do something technical in my education. I search for some technical fields then I choose fashion design. Then I search for some top college for fashion design I see MKSSS SOFT NAGPUR. there are 5 faculties in our college and students are min 50. the ratio of student and teacher is 10:1. Our faculties are masters in fashion from national institutes. teaching is very very good and the language is also easy to understand. our teachers Teach in Hindi, English and Marathi also So there is no issue with language. there are 4 exams in one year. this exam is between 3 months gaps 1st 3 exams are tests and the last is annual. Very easy to pass this course because the teaching of our faculty is very good.

There is a farewell party at the annual function and whenever There is a festival we celebrate that. we celebrate all festivals in our college. There is a library in our college and many more books are also there about fashion. there are so many more workshops held in our college. And sports are also we play like hockey and badminton. there is no social group or website that is run by students.

My college review

Life on campus includes various forms of learning and enjoyment. we have sports and other activities which we enjoy during the learning process. I am not currently holding across any group and will try to get access in the future. The library of college is nice.

The course curriculum is fluent and I learned about fashion internal theory. More focus on theory, practicals, and textile manufacturing process. So we have 7 students learning beside me with 1 faculty so the faculty ratio is 1:7.

To develop my skills & creativity. For every subject we have faculties & all the faculties are friendly & explain every student individually. All the faculties are professional faculties & easy understanding methods. It is an Annual exam but it is not much difficult to pass.

the fee structure is affordable for all. the hikes are also affordable for all people. We have a Grand merit scholarship test for financial assistance & installment payments. we have internships & jobs with minimum stipend.

The faculty is very educated, knowledgeable, and experienced. They are very helpful in nature and well communicable. They give their full efforts for your betterment, they provide us notes, they provide us with new opportunities and ways of education and learning through online classes. The student-faculty ratio is 1:25 which helps us to interact with faculty better. They also organize revision sessions before the exams so that students can clarify their doubts which is really helpful.

Every year students get placements in well reputed and renowned companies, the curriculum is excellent. college provides us with internships for a better future and experience. in recent time placement are in - TRIBURG, RINA, SUPER OVERSEAS Pvt ltd, Bestseller, and RICHA GLOBAL. Not best but good- DSIFD

I have chosen this course because I always wanna learn fashion design and want to become a fashion designer. The faculty is well good There are 25 students per batch. There are yearly exams in diploma courses and in bachelor of fashion Designing there are semester-wise exams.

There are in-campus placements in our colleges by top brands like pantaloons, shoppers stop and best price, etc. Minimum packages offered by the brands are 3.6 lakhs per anum and the highest depends on the skills and knowledge.

Since, the times that we are in, I did not get to enjoy much of Campus Life but I am sure it will be amazing because If i enjoy the online learning so much then I am sure that Campus Life will obviously be great. Whatever time I got on campus, the institute is well established with ample amount of amenities and equipment for each and every student to do their practical training, be it the industrial sewing machines or the Female Mannequin to learn pattern making or draping, this institute has it all. If I talk about extracurricular activities, one of the major attractions that I have toward this institution is the extracurricular activities they conduct, starting from fashion weeks, The London Fashion week, the greatest of all, the Get set create event which was recently conducted to promote sustainable fashion, International glory awards are all the top stories that this institution is a part of. All in all, there is nothing that can beat this institute in order to be the best.

There are no fests in college, but we were encouraged to attend fests of other colleges and take part. They are building a bigger better campus behind our new campus which should be ready by next year. The Higher Certificate in Fashion Design prepares students for working in the local fashion design industry. The course offers students an opportunity to develop an industry ready fashion design portfolio. The programme equips students with the essential skills needed to develop contemporary garments promoting sustainable design principles. These garments including the patterns, technical drawings and renderings are showcased in a final design portfolio, typically needed for job applications. An emphasis is placed on how responsible fashion design can contribute towards a circular economy in both local and global markets.

A Higher Certificate is a one-year; full time face to face learning course or a two-year part time distance learning course that allows students the opportunity to work towards accessing a higher qualification such as a Diploma or Degree.  Students choosing to use the Higher Certificate to advance their studies, still need to meet the institutional entrance requirements. The Higher Certificate allows for entry into the job market by providing hands on fashion design knowledge and skills. An industry relevant Higher Certificate will include work integrated learning as part of the curriculum to prepare you for the working world.    

• Develop students' ability to apply concepts like sustainability in the fashion design workflow in local contexts.   
• Equip students to conceptualise and design clothing, draw patterns, detail technical drawings and construct garments.  
• Provide students with fundamental skills like understanding the design process through project-based assessment   
• Expose and encourage students to manipulate fabrics and sewing machines to create various results   
• Develop professional garment fitting and construction techniques using measuring, sewing and hand stitching.  
• Introduce students to computer aided design (CAD) for fashion and other digital tools to create technical drawings and specify clothing production details.

You don't need any prior knowledge or experience, however, you will need to be aged 16 or above to enrol.

Minimum Age restriction

Average completion timeframe.

You have 24 months to complete this course, however it is possible to complete it in as little as 6 months with full time study. The average completion time for this course is approx 10 months.

Assessment requirements

This course tests your knowledge through a range of end-of-unit assessments, and a professional interior design project, all of which your tutor will provide feedback on to help you learn and progress.

Additional requirements

Throughout your learning journey, you will need access to various pieces of equipment and stationery to help support your learning. These will not all be required at once and can be sourced as and when needed. a. You will need access to a sewing machine b. A selection of fabric (which can be off-cuts, scraps, or old garments), c. Access to a mannequin d. Fabric scissors e. Colouring mediums (e.g., colouring pencils, paint, chalk, pastels etc f. A sketchbook, pencils, pens, and glue.

Certification Timeframe

Certification can be expected approximately 1 month from the date you complete the course.

Course Fees

Professional Diploma in Fashion Design

The Fashion Industry is dynamic and challenging, offering rewarding careers to those individuals who are energetic, flexible, innovative and creative. The Professional Diploma in Fashion Design is specifically designed to develop a breadth of understanding of the fashion industry and to provide a broad foundation for students from which they can determine which branch of the industry their personal talents are most suited to. LCA has offered the program for several batches now and has produced several award winning students.

Course Objectives:

• To develop talent among students in the area of designing arts
• To prepare the students for an entry level position into the clothing industry
• To facilitate use of technology in designing expression
• To provide a career programme encouraging self-employment

Teaching Methodology

Emphasis is placed on hands on training and practice. The sessions are 70% hands on practical assessments and 30% spread on lectures and research practice.

Entry Requirements

Admission into the Fashion Design program is open to students of all nationalities with respect to the submission of the following requirements:

• Copy of the high school graduation certificate or equivalent from a recognized institution. These may include one of the following: High School Certificate 2. O’ levels (IGCSE/GCE) 3. GED (General Education Diploma)
• Complete Application form with 3 color passport – photographs
• Clear passport copy or other photo identity copy
• Students must have a good command of spoken English and own a laptop

Mature students: Students above the age of 21 may enter directly into the program.

Units of Study

Unit 1: Design Exploration in Fashion Students will be encouraged the investigation of materials and experimentation with a variety of media, through personal enquiry and discovery. The unit allows learners to develop research techniques through exploring and developing design ideas. To achieve this module the student must: 1 Explore and experiment with the formal elements of fashion design through illustration 2 Develop and expand visual awareness imaginatively and creatively 3 Analyse and interpret visual research effectively 4 Adapt ideas for creative exploration in work efficiently and imaginatively.

Unit 2: Techniques and Processes in Fashion Students will receive an introduction to the technical skills required in pattern and garment production. Learners will learn the fundamental pattern construction processes required and will apply these to produce patterns for their own design work. Learners will learn about manufacturing processes and how to apply these to produce garments. To achieve this module the student must: 1 Apply pattern construction processes to interpret garment designs effectively 2 Apply garment manufacturing processes to interpret garment designs effectively 3 Use technologies and associated equipment correctly for pattern and garment manufacture 4 Evaluate the use of pattern construction and garment manufacturing processes

Unit 3: Production Techniques This unit will introduce learners to a range of industrial equipment used in the clothing industry and enable them to develop techniques required for garment manufacture. The unit provides essential skills and understanding of the basic principles required to produce sample garments. To achieve this module the student must: 1 Apply understanding of industrial equipment to develop manufacturing skills 2 Construct an accurate calico toile for an identified garment 3 Produce a well-finished garment accurately and effectively 4 Evaluate use of industrial equipment and the finished garment.

Unit 4: Pattern Drafting This unit will introduce learners to the principles of pattern drafting through block construction and pattern manipulation. Having completed this unit successfully, learners will have the basic skills required to progress to creating patterns from their own and others ‘working drawings. To achieve this module the student must: 1 Create a set of basic blocks 2 Develop and expand understanding of dart and seam manipulation 3 Produce a full scale pattern from a working drawing 4 Evaluate the full scale pattern

Unit 5: Fashion Environment This unit gives the learner an understanding of the relationship between fashion marketing and design and the importance of these two elements to business strategy and as a means to competitive advantage in an industry characterised by change. The unit will introduce fashion marketing theory and practice and their relevance to the fashion industry. To achieve this module the student must: 1 Analyse and interpret the basic principles of marketing in a fashion context 2 Gain awareness of the environmental factors which influence the fashion industry’s marketing policies 3 Investigate, analyse and evaluate marketing strategies adopted by the industry 4 Apply the principles of fashion marketing planning .

Unit 6: Realizing a Fashion Collection In this unit, learners will have the opportunity to design and realize their own fashion collection. This gives learners an appreciation of the role of the designer and an understanding of different market sectors, production methods and their related constraints. The unit integrates a variety of complex skills and knowledge to realize innovative and complex designs. To achieve this module the student must: 1 Design an innovative collection to a self-identified theme 2 Develop a range of garments using information from fashion predictions and trends to inform design solutions 3 Demonstrate synthesis of knowledge, skills and understanding to realize designs 4 Present , analyse and evaluate their own work.

Unit 7: Textile Study The unit aims to develop an understanding the relationship between textiles and design. It allows the students to explore creative pathways through textiles and the use of textiles in the design process. To achieve this module the student must: 1 To identify textiles through a basic understanding of fabrics and textile construction methods. 2 To develop an understanding of textile properties and their appropriate use. 3 To encourage the students to explore surface decoration and knit wear as a source of design inspiration and development

Unit 8: History of Fashion The history of fashion covers women‘s, men‘s, and children fashion and the influence of and changes in fashion from the 15th century to the present day. Areas to be covered : Historical development Sources of inspiration Fashion Identification Psychological impact Designers Sources of information Fashion Industry
