50+ Free Preschool Printables for Early Childhood Classrooms

Free preschool printables for early childhood teachers, be they at home or in the classroom.

I’m not a big fan of preschool worksheets , which focus more on only paper and pencil work or rote copying.

However, I do like using hands-on printables at times in the classroom. I also like making such printables for my classroom, as I can tailor them to what the kiddos are learning about, or what they’re interested in.

Below you’ll find Fun-A-Day’s collection of free preschool printables. Let me know what you think about them!

Free Preschool Worksheets

The idea behind this website is to make a place where parents, teachers, and childcare professionals can download and print free educational resources for preschoolers. Preschool-aged children will benefit the most from the free printable worksheets on the site right now but we also plan on adding additional resources for younger kids.

Worksheets Cover English, Math, Activities, and General Learning

Our free worksheets are broken down into four main categories and cover different areas of early childhood education. The preschool English worksheets category includes spelling, reading, rhyming, phonics, and alphabet printables. They are designed for preschoolers’ cognitive and literacy development. The preschool activity worksheets category includes scissors practice, mazes, connect the dots, coloring, and tracing printables. They help children with developing fine motor skills and critical thinking ability. The preschool math worksheets category includes shapes, position and order, numbers, measurement, and counting printables. Children will become familiar with basic math skills. The preschool learning worksheets category includes weather, holiday, seasonal, colors, and telling time printables. They are a wonderful way for kids to learn the fundamental aspects of life. All of our free preschool worksheets can be downloaded in the PDF file format and then printed or you can print the worksheets directly in your browser.

Free to Use Anywhere including Preschools, Daycare Centers, Summer Camps, and at Home

One of the more common questions we get is “What are we allowed to do with the worksheets?”. You can do everything you want with our free daycare worksheets except sell them. Print as many as you want and make as many copies as you would like. You are also allowed to use our free worksheets anywhere, whether it be a preschool, summer camp, kindergarten, home, or a local daycare center. We want the worksheets we have created to be used by as many kids as possible.

These Preschool Printables are Different

Daycare worksheets cannot just be handed out and expected to be completed. A toddler who is two years old and a preschooler who is four years old learn differently than older children. Younger kids need to have different types of engagement in order to facilitate learning. Many of our preschool worksheets have more than one way they can be utilized. Teachers and parents can print a worksheet and then make learning game or activity out of it. Childcare professionals can also put together lesson plans using the free printables that can fit into a prekindergarten curriculum.

Finding the right balance when using worksheets with your child is essential. While these resources can help reinforce and practice new concepts and skills, it’s crucial to rely on them sparingly. It’s critical to provide a variety of other learning opportunities as well.

Here are some things to consider when determining how much time to spend with your child on worksheets:

  • Age and attention span — The amount of time your child can focus will depend on their age and attention span. Young children may only concentrate for a few minutes at a time, while older children may be able to focus for more extended periods.
  • Goals — Consider your objectives for using worksheets with your child. Are you using them to reinforce a specific skill, or are you introducing a new concept? This will help you determine how much time to spend on each worksheet.
  • Other learning opportunities — Ensure plenty of hands-on activities, play-based learning opportunities, and real-world experiences to support your child’s overall development .

In summary, it’s important to remember that worksheets should be just one part of your child’s learning experience. Finding the right balance and providing various learning opportunities can support your child’s development and set them up for success.

The first worksheets that parents can use with preschoolers are those that focus on basic skills such as:

  • Alphabet recognition and letter sound — These worksheets can help children learn to recognize and name the letters of the alphabet, as well as associate each letter with its corresponding sound.

It’s essential to start with simple worksheets and gradually increase the difficulty as your child becomes more comfortable with the material. It’s also a good idea to incorporate other learning activities and experiences to support your child’s overall development.

Worksheets can be an essential tool for parents to support their child’s learning and development. Here are some reasons why worksheets can be beneficial for parents:

  • Reinforcement and practice — Worksheets can allow children to practice and reinforce new concepts and skills they have learned.
  • Structured learning — Worksheets can provide a structured learning environment, which can be helpful for children who benefit from a sense of routine and organization.
  • Independence — Worksheets can encourage children to work independently, which can help them develop self-sufficiency and confidence in their learning.
  • Parental involvement — Worksheets can be a way for parents to be actively involved in their child’s learning and to support their child’s development.
  • Fun — Worksheets can be a fun and engaging way for children to learn, especially when they are interactive and include games and other activities.

Overall, worksheets can be a valuable resource for parents to support their child’s learning and development. However, it’s essential to use them in moderation and to provide various other learning opportunities and experiences.

There is no evidence to suggest that preschool worksheets adversely affect preschoolers. Worksheets can be valuable for reinforcing and practicing new concepts and skills.

However, using worksheets in moderation is vital and provides various other learning opportunities and experiences.

It’s also essential to consider each child’s individual needs and learning style, as some children may benefit more from certain types of worksheets than others.

When introducing worksheets to preschoolers, it’s important to start with simple worksheets that focus on basic skills such as alphabet recognition, letter formation, number recognition, and shape recognition.

Gradually increase the difficulty as your child becomes more comfortable with the material. It’s also a good idea to incorporate other learning activities and experiences to support your child’s overall development.

Free preschool worksheets can be a valuable tool for helping preschoolers learn about a variety of printable activities subjects, including alphabet recognition, number recognition, shape recognition, color recognition, fine motor skills, gross motor skills , and more. It’s crucial to choose worksheets appropriate for your child’s age and learning level and to use them in moderation, along with various other learning experiences.

While worksheets can be a valuable tool for reinforcing and practicing new concepts and skills, they may not necessarily provide an outlet for children to release their creative energy. It’s essential to also provide children with opportunities for imaginative play, such as art and craft, music and movement, and pretend play.

Preschool worksheets focusing on tracing lines and shapes can help children develop fine motor skills, such as hand-eye coordination, hand control, and dexterity. These skills are important for writing, cutting with scissors, and using small manipulatives. It’s important to choose worksheets appropriate for your child’s age and learning level and to use them in moderation, along with a variety of other activities that support fine motor skill development.

Can preschool worksheets improve gross motor skills?

Preschool worksheets may not necessarily be designed to improve gross motor skills specifically. Gross motor skills involve using large muscle groups and are essential for running, jumping, throwing, and catching. While worksheets may not be specifically designed to improve gross motor skills, some may incorporate movement and physical activity as part of the learning experience. For example, a worksheet that involves matching objects to pictures may also include standing up and walking to retrieve the objects.

However, if you want to specifically focus on improving your child’s gross motor skills, it’s crucial to provide a variety of activities that involve significant muscle movement. Examples include playing sports, participating in dance or gymnastics classes, and engaging in outdoor activities such as running, climbing, and playing with balls and other large toys. It’s also essential to ensure that your child has access to safe, age-appropriate play equipment and to supervise them during play to ensure their safety.

It’s also good to check that your printer is connected correctly and turned on before you begin printing.

If you encounter any issues while printing the worksheets, you may need to consult the user manual for your printer or contact the manufacturer for help.

In addition to using heavier-weight paper, there are a few other options you may want to consider when selecting printer paper for your preschool worksheets.

One option is to use high-quality, bright white paper. This type of paper is made from a higher grade of pulp and has a smoother finish, which can help produce crisp, clear images and text on the worksheets.

Another option is to use paper with a coated finish, such as a glossy or semi-gloss finish. This type of paper is treated with a coating that helps to enhance the colors and contrast of the worksheets, making them more vibrant and eye-catching. However, be aware that a coated finish may also create more glare, making it more challenging to see the worksheets in certain lighting conditions.

Finally, consider using recycled paper for your worksheets. This paper is made from post-consumer waste and can be a more environmentally friendly option. Just be sure to choose recycled paper that matches your printer and meets your quality standards.

Ultimately, the best printer paper for worksheets will depend on your personal preferences and your child’s specific needs. By considering factors such as weight, finish, and quality, you can select a paper that will produce the best results for your preschool worksheets.
