The “Iron Sheik” is one of the most iconic villains in WWE history–but the arduous journey of the man, Hossein Khosrow Vaziri has never been told. This one-time bodyguard for the Shah of Iran, escaped his country in fear for his life. Without the ability to speak any English at all, he somehow transformed himself into one of the most hated and beloved characters of all time. As the “Iron Sheik” he represented the ultimate threat but Khosrow was living the American Dream along with his beautiful wife and daughters. But, despite the fame and fortune, struggles with addiction and family tragedy all played a part of his incredible story.

Dusty Rhodes

Growing-up in East Austin, Texas–Virgil Riley Runnels, Jr. always had an outsized vision of the possibilities for himself. An innate ability to navigate loss and create opportunity set him on a path to discovering- or actually becoming–The American Dream. As the most relatable and charismatic wrestler of all-time, he earned titles and the adoration of a diverse fan base. His iconic rivalry and promos with Ric Flair set the path for an entire industry and as a booker/producer he created many of the wrestling events still happening today including War Games, Starrcade and The Great American Bash. For Dusty, the traditional trade-offs of fame over family were never acceptable and for the first time-ever, Dusty Rhodes’ four children collaborate to tell the story of their father. It’s their story that suggests Dusty’s most significant accomplishment had nothing to do with wrestling.

Rodney Anoa’i was a high school dropout who needed direction and purpose. That’s when Rodney joined the family business in World Wrestling Entertainment. After exploding on to the scene in 1992, the 500 pound giant became “Yokozuna”, and quickly skyrocketed to WWE superstardom as he battled legends Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker and Bret “Hitman” Hart. In the ring, he became the top villain in the industry but outside the ring, Rodney was a lovable family man who always helped his friends. In 2000, the size and stature that made him a star ultimately took his life when he died suddenly at the age of 34. Yokozuna remains one of the greatest “big men” in WWE history, and his legacy lives on through his children, Justin and Keilani, as well as the grandson with his namesake, Rodney.

Charlotte Flair is currently one of WWE’s biggest Superstars. She is in the midst of creating an unmatched legacy in women’s wrestling history, but it hasn’t been easy, especially with the added pressure of being the daughter of The Nature Boy Ric Flair. Growing up, Charlotte didn’t have aspirations to be a WWE Superstar, instead she displayed her athletic ability in other sports. That changed following the death of her younger brother, Reid. In this Biography, Charlotte opens up about coping with that tragedy, self-doubt, and her journey to becoming a WWE main event star.

Jerry Lawler

Jerry “The King” Lawler is a once-in-a-lifetime Superstar whose career spanned generations. A&E's WWE Legends Biography On Kane Earns Lowest-Ever Viewership, Rivals Also Down

Kane, Triple H, and Dave Bautista all took an L at the hands of the Academy Awards on Sunday. 

Per Wrestlenomics, viewership for A&E's block of WWE programming over the week took a significant dip in the rating. "WWE Legends Biography," which featured an episode centered around the "Big Red Machine" turned mayor, ran into its lowest audience in the 23-episode history of WWE's partnership with A&E. The program was viewed on average by 383,000, with 170,000 viewers in the coveted 18-49 demographic. That represents a 20% drop in overall viewership for the program from last week's episode about WWE Hall of Famer Chyna; that episode saw a rise in ratings for the night it aired. "Biography" ranked as the No. 33 show among the demo for Sunday among cable originals, according to Showbuzz Daily. 

Following "Biography," A&E's episode of "WWE Rivals" about Triple H and Batista's heated feud was watched by 287,000 viewers on average, with 117,000 viewers in the 18-49 demographic. "Rivals" was down 26% in overall viewership from the week before. That week's episode about The Rock's WrestleMania program with John Cena was also down, continuing the series' slide. "Rivals" was the No. 53 show among cable originals. 

Sunday night was Oscar night though, and the Academy Awards saw nearly a 13% rise in viewers for its live broadcast — a likely factor contributing to a decrease in viewers elsewhere. Despite the low ratings, WWE and A&E continue to move forward with what has been a fruitful partnership thus far. A new reality show was recently announced with both parties involved. "Stone Cold Takes On America" will see WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin travel the country in an RV, accepting challenges from fans nationwide. The series premieres on April 30.
